IS BT CLOUD ALTERING THE "MODIFIED DATE" ON MY FIL...

Hi
I have BT Cloud 2GB Free running as both the downloaded "auto sync" software and also using the Chrome Browser Interface. I am on Windows XP.
I only use Cloud to backup word / excel documents and family photos - basic things I just dont want to risk losing.
I recently noticed something odd, when I sorted my BT Cloud View by "Date Modified" about twenty very 'old' files suddenly appeared at the top of the view - files I hadnt used in about 5 or 6 years.
I definitely had not accessed these files yet when I went to look at them in "My Computer" and clicked on "Properties" I could see that the "Modified Date" had changed. In fact it seems that about a dozen or so files had been "modified" over night while my PC was left on in the next room. No other dates had changed on the files - it did not look like they had been "Re-Saved" I dont think since the original author had not changed.
I started to monitor this and noticed about half a dozen files having their "modified dates" changed every day for the last three or four days. Its only Documents (Word Powerpoint Excel Text etc) that are being modified.
And heres the thing - I ran a search on my computer of files modified in the last week and the only ones where I could not explain the change were files that are being backed up by "BT CLOUD" so its slightly possible there is a link. Of course this could be coincidence but I thought this might be a good initial avenue to explore since without BT Cloud's interface view of my files I would never have even noticed the problem in the first place.
I'm pretty sure its not a Virus - I run my own Scanner every few days, its always up to date and I have Real Time Scanning enabled. I also ran a couple of online scans last night (Norton etc) and they found nothing.
Its a recent development because I use Cloud every week and would have noticed before if things were changing.
So a couple of questions really:
Firstly has anyone else experienced this problem - I read somewhere that Some Virus Scanners can alter the Modified Date on your files unintentionally but the MS hotfix says this only happens in Vista/Win 7 I think and I am on XP. Could it be that when BT Cloud Scans the file it affects its modified date on your PC ?
Secondly Could anyone else access my files in BT Cloud and modify them, and if so would that change to the 'online file' be represented back on my own PC when I "Synced" my backup
Many thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.

I assume your raws are in DNG format? If xmp is in sidecar, it won't change raw file date.
Anyway, saving xmp does not change any dates in Lightroom, so you should still be able to sort by edit time or capture time...
But if you want control, you have to save manually instead of automatically.
Two things that might help:
1. Filter based on metadata status.
2. robcole.com - DNGPreviewUpdater

  • How to accessed,created and modified date of particular file in java

    Hi,
    I am facing one problem.
    I know how to get the modified date/time of file in java.
    but i don't know how to find created and accessed date/time of file in java.
    Thanks,
    Tejas

    I guess thats not possible in in Windows.
    But if u r trying it on a unix machine.
    You can use Runtime class to call exec on the command
    ls -l filename
    and then store the result in a file . And then take out the last modified time. But you cant get created time.
    Thats a clumpsy way i believe.

  • How can I preserve the modify date of the files I transfer from my local computer to the remote webserver?

    How can I make sure the the modify date of files are not updated to the date the file was uploaded or downloaded.
    There are multiple people working on my sites and I am the only one that uses Dreamweaver.  The problem this presents is when  one of my colleagues works on an image and I want to update my local computer it changes the date of the image to the date that I downloaded it and now when I compare what I have on my local computer to what is on the server they are different modify dates.

    Dont think you can find out the date of purchase!
    Where should know this without a payment bills or sales checks.
    What you can do is to find out when the notebook was registered on the Toshiba page.

  • Photoshop CC on Windows 7 is saving the file "date" as the created date not the modified date

    I have been using a much older version of PS (CS2) and just decided to update to PS CC. I have installed the trial version of PS CC and will begin the CC subscription as soon as the trial expires.
    I have noticed that PS CC saves the (main) date of the files as the "created date" not the "modified date" as it pertains to Windows Explorer and the Windows OS.
    Here is what is happening: I have a file that I created in 2007 that I use for a template. It is sized to specific dimensions, etc. and when I do my save as, it automatically saves into the desired file folder, so that's why I use this as a template. I setup a new photo and then drag and drop it into my template, flatten the image and save as. When doing this with PS CS2, the date for the newly saved file was assigned as the modified date (current date and time). So, when I searched for the file in Windows Explorer or when I went to open the file, the date shown for the file was the modified date. NOW, with PS CC when I perform the exact same process and do a save as, the file date shown in Windows Explorer and/or when I go to open the file is showing as the created date (3/9/2007), the date that I created and saved the template I use. This is aggravating to me because now when I want to open a file and sort by date, the date shown in Windows Explorer is not accurate. As far as I can tell, this only happens in PS CC. When I open an old file with ID CC and do a save as, it applies the current date, not the created date. And, when I was using PS CS2, whenever I did a save as the current date was applied as well.
    In summary, when performing a save as, the created date is being applied as the main date instead of the modified date. The question is: Is there a way to change this so that the modified date can be applied as the main date for the file when performing a save as?

    Below are two files created the exact same way on the exact same computer: the top one was saved in PS CS2 and the bottom one was saved in PS CC. Both were saved using the "Save As" command. You will notice that when the "Save As" command was used in CS2 it updated the "Created:" date, however, in the CC version the "Created:" date was not updated, only the "Modified:" date was updated. Is there a way to update the "Created:" date when performing a "Save As" in PS CC?

  • Changing the Modified Date of a List Item using the SharePoint Client Object Model (C#) with Contribute Permission

    I have a small snippet of code that I use to update the Modified Date of a list item and it works great for users with Full Control permissions.  However, for users with just Contribute access to the site the code doesn't work.  Instead, SharePoint
    just updates the Modified Date to now.
    I did some testing, and narrowed down the specific permission level that allows updating of Modified dates and oddly enough, it's the "Manage Permissions" level.
    Has anyone run into this issue? If so, how do I work around this and update the Modified date as a user with only Contribute access to a site/library?
    Here's the code:
    DateTime Test = new DateTime(2012, 5, 4);
    ListItem li = list.GetItemById(itemID);
    li["Modified"] = Test;
    li.Update();
    ct.ExecuteQuery();
    Thanks,
    Max

    Hello,
    As a workaround you can pass admin credential in your code because as per my knowledge contributor can't update default columns like: created by, modified by, modified, created.
    ClientContext clientContext = newClientContext(siteUrl);
    ClientContext.Credentials = newNetworkCredential(UserName, Password, Domain);
    Hope it could help

  • I am trying to organize thousands of images in aperture.  The dates on the old scanned images is all 2008, when I started importing them.  When I change the date in aperture some of them hold the modified date and some revert to 2008.  Any ideas?

    I am trying to organize thousands of old images in aperture.  Aperture dates them all in 2008, when I started this project.  When I change the date in aperture some of them hold the modified date and some revert to 2008.  Any ideas?

      I just tried a test library, re-imported fresh images from a hard drive, and the date changes still revert.
    So neither your external drive nor your Aperture library are to blame.
    What do you mean test in a different user acct?  Would it be a good idea to uninstall and re-download aperture 3?
    Appreciate all your help.
    I meant the trouble shooting procedure described here:  Isolating an issue by using another user account
    To test, if some settings in your user account are faulty or preferences files corrupted, it helps to create a new user account from the "Users&Groups" System preferences. With a brand new user account you can see, if something in your current account is causing this.
    Should you see, that Aperture is not even working from a new and clean account, I'd reinstall Aperture, and if need be the Operating system.  Are you using any plug-ins?

  • *.eml Time Stamp - Select File in Windows Explorer Changes the Modified Date

    The Windows Live Mail *.eml files time stamp is getting changed to the current date when the file is selected in the Windows Explorer! I save backup copies of important E-mails to folders on the Hard Drive and then synchronize them with the same folders on other LAN Hard Drives for backup archives. When these E-mail files are selected or opened from the Windows Explorer in the Windows 7 OPS the Modified Date Time Stamp is changed to the current date automatically! This action creates a real problem when doing later synchronizations of all of the folders! The date will not be the original date of the E-mail and the original file will be over copied with the file with the newest date stamp. I stopped Indexing on the *.eml files and that stopped the time stamp change when overcopy synchronization, but if the file is selected during a viewing in Windows Explorer then the Time Stamp is updated to the current date again! A solution to this problem would be greatly appreciated if anybody knows of one. Thanks - - - Shorto

    The Date and Timestamp changing issue in Windows 7 has a two part fix!
    1. Disable the Indexing of the *.eml file type in the Indexing Options located by Clicking on "Control Panel" -  "Indexing Options" - Advanced Button - File Types Tab - scroll down to the .eml file type and uncheck the Box then click OK to finish, so
    that the Email type of files won't be Indexed.
    2. Delete the Registry Entry listed below, be sure to Export and Save the original Key so it could be Restored if something goes wrong!  \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PropertySystem\PropertyHandlers
     and Delete the .eml entry
    That should fix the problem with the changing Date/Timestamp of Email Files. For more information read CarlS's WindowsSeven Fourm thread where I also have more input:
     http://www.sevenforums.com/browsers-mail/35334-eml-files-timestamps-updated-constantly.html
    This should give you a better understanding on the problem and the Fix. - - - Shorto

  • How to autofill the Modified Date And Modified User?

    hi All,
    Below is the screenshot of my form , if we look at the last 4 columns we have Created Date,Created User Id which is popped up automatically if a new entry is being created. Now if we look at the last 2 ModifiedDate and ModifiedUserId those fileds will be
    empty wile creating a new entry which is good for me. But lets say if i go back to any existing record and want to modify it then the modified date and modified userid must be popped up with that persons name and current date. I think i can use the logic i
    have to get date and userid but i want some help with code to how to make the modified fields fill up.
    Can someone please help me with this?
    Thanks a lot for all your time and support.

    well I use it all the time, and have no problem in that initially both the 'started' and the 'modified' date fields have the same value..... because when one is editing a record whether initially putting in data or adding/changing later - they are both considered
    to put the form in a dirty state.
    then in future edits only the modified date field changes.  the code in the OnDirty event is:
    me.ModifiedDateFieldName=Now()
    any other approach will be more difficult to achieve as essentially one must trigger it not universally at the OnDirty event but something more specific such as at every control

  • Why does a reboot set the modified-date of the server certificate?

    I was inspecting my certificates and noticed that the certificate I use for my server had a modified date of Dec 12, whereas it was created around April of this year.
    Dec 12 saw a reboot of my server and adding the `uptime` to the 'modified date' of the certificate gets me to 'now'. So, it seems a reboot sets the modified date of the server certificate. Can someone confirm this and does anybody know wht this is the case?

    Yes, I found the same tricks but if I only set pereferred width. the result is not that I expected. so I use the following code to do it:
             tc.setPreferredWidth(maxsize+5);
             tc.setMaxWidth(maxsize+5);I don't know why must I add 5 point to display the string completely.

  • Occasional invalid modified date on a file - looks like a bug

    In the Bridge script I'm working on, I need to compare the last modified dates of files. I've found that when I iterate through the app.document.visibleThumbnails array that in nearly every directory I test on, there are one or two files that return an "undefined" value for app.document.visibleThumbnail[i].spec.modified. It is not the same two files each run, but it's always at least one that has a missing value. It's a pretty simple test app to illustrate the problem:
    var thumbs = app.document.visibleThumbnails;
    for (var j in thumbs)
    var modDateSpec = thumbs[j].spec.modified;
    if (modDateSpec == undefined)
    Window.alert("modification date is undefined");
    Unless this value is not intended to be reliable, this appears to be a bug which is why I am reporting it. I have worked around the problem for now by getting the fsName from the same thumbnail, creating a new File object with that fsName and getting the modified date from that temp object.
    I've verified that purging and rebuilding the cache does not make the problem go away. I see this problem on many different directories.
    Is this the right place to report this type of bug or is there a different procedure I should follow?

    Don't know about Terminal, but, because you are using 10.9.x and iMovie, try the iMovie method:

  • Check the modification date of a file and compare it to the current date

    Hey everyone,
    I'm writing a script that compares the modification date of a file to the current date, and performs actions based on whether the file was modified 7 days ago or not. I haven't been able to figure out exactly how to do this.
    I haven't been able to find much in the way of this online, and I am not that familiar with manipulating dates and whatnot. I was able to get a bit of it, posted below:
    currentDate=`date +%b-%d`
    fileDate=`ls -l ~/.backup.txt | awk '{ print $6, $7 }'`
    echo "$fileDate"
    echo "$currentDate"
    if [ "$fileDate" <= "$currentDate" ]; then
    echo "old enough to run script"
    else
    echo "not old enough yet"
    fi
    Of course, this doesn't work. Any help would be much appreciated. This is for Leopard.
    TIA,
    Andrew

    find ~/.backup.txt -mtime +7 -exec yourscript {} ;
    You may need to play with the +7 value to get the exact number of days old the file needs to be.
    The find command will accept a directory (actually it is frequently used with directories) and will find all files in that directory and any subdirectories below that match the find selection critiera.
    So you could do something like
    find ~ -mtime +7 | xargs yourscript
    or
    find ~ -mtime +7 -name "*.txt" | xargs yourscript
    and if your script does not accept multiple filenames on the command line, you can use
    find ~ -mtime +7 | xargs -n 1 yourscript
    and if your file names have spaces in them, you can use
    find ~ -mtime +7 -print0 | xargs -0 -n 1 yourscript

  • Why can't I change the Created Date on a file using Terminal?

    I bought a used Contour helmet camera to take pictures of the kids while they're skiing, and I cannot access the camera itself to change the clock in it (USB port is broken).
    I get videos from it just fine, but every time I remove the battery the date/time on the camera resets to January 2008, so my skiing videos end up someplace completely different from what I expect in iMovie.
    I thought I could change the Created Date with Touch in Terminal, but it only handles the Modified Date.  I know I can purchase File Date Changer 5 from the App Store to do this, but I'd like to know why I can't do it in Terminal.
    Anybody know?  Or know of a different way that I COULD do it in Terminal?
