Is DWR part of MDM?

Hi,
I want to know that MDM offerings Customer Hub, Product Hub includes Data Watch and Repair as part of the MDM product.
It looks like Data Steward is included through data steward workbench, read from an Oracle document.
It also mentions data quality tools offered, but it was not clear that DWR is one of those tools included in MDM purchase.
Thank you.

Hi Comandante,
              Check the link below which explains the significant role of SAP MAP in BI-IP and this is primarily used for Fashion Industry and when integrated with SAP Retail(Through OAPC)yields the best results for Fashion Indistries.(Merchandise Planning,Store Planning,Strategic planning etc)

  • Rules Engine Environment in MDM

    Hi Everyone,
    I am evaluating the capability of SAP MDM to see if there is any kind of rules engine delivered that can create a material master (SKU) number.  I am not trying to create material master records yet - just the material number !
    Background:
    Defned rules, coupled with reference data should be able to generated the list of SKUs.
    Example:
    Reference Data contained in 3 tables:
    Product Line: LN1, LN2
    Release: 2009
    Language: EN, JA, FR, DE
    SKU mask: AA-BB-CC
    AA = Product Line
    BB = Release
    CC = Language
    The rules would be to create combinations of all the reference data values and output a list of SKUs according to the SKU mask/format.  In other words, by implmenting rules, I should be able to generate  2x1x4 = 8 SKUs in total (2 values for product line, mulitplied by 1 value for Release, multiplied by 4 values for Language).
    Questions:
    I know I can implment rules on the ABAP workbench in R/3 to create material master numbers, and then later create actual material master records with reference to other materials all within R/3.  However, I would like to create and manage the material master directly in MDM.
    1) Is a rules engine like drools provided as part of MDM?
    2) Since MDM is based on the Netweaver and sits on the web apps server, is there an ABAP workbench provided in MDM from where I can create the rules and create z tables for the reference data.
    3) Do I need to create a separate web service in Netweaver Developer Studio to create these rules.
    Thanks in advance
    -Rajiv

    Hi Rajiv,
      In some scenarios Material master is imported to SAP MDM from R/3 and all the logic is performed in R/3 itself. For such cases You can use the standrad MDM Material Repository provided by SAP.
    <i>How do people create specific part numbers (material numbers / SKUs) in SAP MDM based upon some specific business logic?</i>
    Let us say the Part number is an depandant on another field say Product ID.
    In MDM Console you can specify the business logic in the Calculation field.
    Also i would like to add that in SAP MDM most of this business logic are mere mathematical fuctions (part no = 1.5 * product ID). There is no provision to call external methods (like RFCs in R/3).
    I suggest you to get the Standard MDM Materials Repository and play around the Calculated fields\ Auto ID Fields in MDM Console.
    Get back for help,
    Vijay

  • MDM clarifications

    Hi All,
      Can anybody help me in understading the below issues.
      1.When to go for qualified table and when to go for normal lookup table? What is the exact difference?.
      2.The MDM XI content only has the employee object interface. What about the other objects like material, customer?. Why is it not delivered as part of the XI content?
      3. Which is the preferred place for mapping i.e. in MDM syndicator or XI mapping step?. For example material, vendor .....object mappings are delivered as part of MDM where as the employee object has XI content. Which solution we have to advice the customers?

    it talks exactly about difference between lookup and qualified tables

    > material, customer?. Why is it not delivered as part
    > of the XI content?
    in SP2 XI content should be provided for all repository schemas going along with the build. I think there are four of them (but not sure for 100%)
    > 3. Which is the preferred place for mapping i.e. in
    > in MDM syndicator or XI mapping step?. For example
    > material, vendor .....object mappings are delivered

    > customers?
    mapping actually occurs in two places - in XI and ImportManager. XI mappping serves for mapping external sources (non necessarilly from SAP) to XML files (in the current release, later it can use other mechanisms). Then to pick up those files and import them to the repository the ImportManager uses its mapping. So there is no question which of the mappings to use. You have to use both.

  • Lotus Notes - MDM

    Anyone did Loyus notes and MDM integration to send emails from MDM workflow to lotus notes?
    is there any issues with lotus notes in MDM?
    what are the steps to be considered for lotus notes mail server in MDM?

    Hi Sandesh,
    Never worked specifically on the Lotus Notes with MDM scenario ,However
    To send Mails from MDM to the mail server the following criteria's need to be met.If they do you should be able to send mails to that server:
    - The mails server you are using must be an SMTP server.
    - Mails form MDM are having issue to work with if the Mail Exchange server is on 2007
    - There should be no firewall issues.
    Considering these points and assuming the Mail configuration settings are correct in MDM you should be able to exchange Mails.
    You can refer the below link for the configurations part in MDM for sending mails:

  • CCM or MDM - What are the advantage and disadvantage

    Hi
    We are planning to install a catalog but is now in doubt what catalog system we must use. We use SRM5.0 but will upgrade to SRM6.0 if we have to.
    Can someone tell me the advantage and disadvantage for CCM and MDM?
    I know that some patches will be released in MDM2.0 in December and March and this patches will give the following:
    - Approver UI in Portal 7.0 (via iViews)
    - Integration of Electronic Forms
    - Config of Column With
    - Config of Image size
    - Support of decimal quantities ?!?!?!
    - Configurable products
    - Browse categories via images
    - Customer exits in Search UI
    - Search attributes by range
    Do CCM for example support the above (except the UI stuff)??
    Usefull hints will be rewarded.

  • Plz:  meaning of this sentence : MDM works out of box with sap BI component

    hi
    please explain me what is the meaning of :
    SAP  MDM works out of box with sap BI component .
    Message was edited by:
            akhil k

    Hi akhil,
    In lines to what Simona has said, I would like to mention that SAP MDM is a different tool altogether and functions out of the box with SABP BI.
    Talking a bit about the integration scenarios, SAP MDM SP04 is integrated with SAP BI 3.5 as two different tools where MDM behaves as a different tool altogether and imports the data from BI and cleanses it and then syndicates it back to BI.
    In the latest integration scenario, some part of MDM can be handled from Bi itself. i.e. We can connect to the MDM SP05 Repository from BI 7.0. But still the data cleansing, deduplication is exclusively done in MDM. Hence MDM works out of the box with SAP Bi component.

  • Ho to monitor that vendors delivered files on time to MDM

    Hi all
    I have one more question regarding monitoring. This time is about how can we monitor that our vendors / partners / colleagues from other departments delivered files to proceed by MDM on time?
    Our MDM system starts to grow and play very important role in our organization. We have to assure that all data are up to date. Here is very important that our MDM systems works with no problems and all potential problems which we can notice in Exceptions folders can be discovered and solved asap.
    Here is also one more task we have to assure. That is processing all requests scheduled in MDM. Sometimes it happens that we have complaining uses using BW about missing data. We have to spend time to investigate case, involve different departments and solution is our external vendors did not delivered filers for us on time. To avoid this kind of situation I am looking for any kind of solution.
    Do you have any opinions, comments, solutions, basically whatever idea to monitor that files are delivered on time please share?
    Thank you in advance.
    I know maybe that is difficult topic but is seems in our organization seems to be important.
    BR
    Rafal Paczynski

    Hi Rafal
    You must be usinh PI for getting the files from external parties into MDM ready folders.
    All the files placed follow a naming convention and also have a time stamp appended in the name. If not this can be easily achieved in PI.
    Now the requirement is to know if all the files placed came on time. This can be easily found out by seeing the files placed in Archive folder for the previous days, their names will have the timestamp also.
    Over the period you can also delete the older files from the archive folder( files older than a month?) using batch job/ Script.
    hope this helps-
    Ravi

  • Steps in Key mapping

    Hi all,
    i have gone through many forum's regarding key mapping.
    i can see that the following are used..
    --> remote systems
    --> key mapping option in table-field properties
    --> key mapping option in table properties.
    -->key generation(none, range, qualified range) field in remote system properties.
    But never understood like in which order we need to define all the above, what is the relation b/w them.
    i have gone through some theory in sdn regarding key mapping but unable to get the logic..
    can any one one show me with 2 records in 2 tables so, that i can clear my confusion.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    phani

    Hi Phani,
    first you should understand the basic idea of key mapping. MDM usually wants to consolidate master (objects like vendors, customers, and so on) and/or reference (lookup tables like countries, regions, and so on) data. The idea is to load this data from various remote systems into MDM, compare and match the data, and in some cases merge multiple records into a single one. Let's take an example.
    Image you have attache two remote systems to MDM. The first is an ERP system, the second a CRM system. Both system contains countries as reference data. In ERP, your country India looks like
    Name = India
    Code = INDIA
    whereas in CRM it looks like
    Name = India
    Code = IND
    It is obvious that the country is the same, but the systems use a different internal code. Now you load this data into MDM. What do you do? Do you want to create two records having different codes? Or do you want to "merge" the indentical records into a single one. The common decision in MDM is the second one.
    But what happens now if you send customers from ERP and CRM to MDM? Usually the Customer message contains the Country CODE but not the Country NAME. From ERP the message could look like:
    Customer = Mr. X
    Country = INDIA
    whereas from CRM the message could look like
    Customer = Mr. X
    Country = IND
    Surely you want to map the different code in both case to the same country "India". That's why you use key mapping in MDM. Key Mapping allows MDM to store different codes for the same data. So in MDM you store just one record, but if you receive and/or send data from and/or to remote systems, you can always ensure that you store and/or send the correct codes.
    Hope that clarifies your doubts about key mapping in general?
    OK, now regarding your question about "Update NULL fields only":
    In Import Manager you have several options for data import. If you import for the very first time (for RS1), your table in MDM is usually empty. That why you need to "Create" the records. If you import the second time (for RS2), your table in MDM already contains data. Depending on the matching field for import, several options are now possible. If Import Manager is not able to match the record you want to import against any other existing in the repository, you have to "Create" the new record. If Import Manager is able to match the record that you want to import with a record of your repository table, you can choose what happens next. "Update NULL fields only" compares the record you want to import with the existing values in MDM. In your case, following info is already part in MDM:
    Country = India
    Code = INDIA
    Remote Key RS1 = INDIA
    Remote Key RS2 = NULL
    Now the file you want to import contains the following values:
    Remote System = RS2
    Country = India
    Code = IND
    Import Manager identifies that only "Remote Key RS2" is NULL. All other fields already have values. As you choose to "Update NULL Fields only", only Remote Key RS2 gets a new value. If you choose a different option, e.g. "Update All Mapped Fields" Import Manager would update the Country and Code fields, too.
    Best regards
    Michael

  • Display many fields of a lookup table in the main table

    Hello Experts,
    In MDM, I have a "Suppliers" table which is a lookup table. This table has 4 fields :
    - Supplier Name (Display Field)
    - Supplier Code
    - Email
    - Phone number
    In the main table, a field "Supplier" uses the "Suppliers" lookup table. This fields displays the "Supplier Name" of the "Suppliers" lookup table.
    Now I also want to display the "Email" and the "Phone Number" of the supplier. If I set these fields as Display Fields in the "Suppliers" lookup table, they appear concatenated in the main table, which I don't want.
    The only way I found to display those fields is to set 2 new fields in the main table as calculated fields, eg: IF(TRUE, Supplier.Email).
    Is there any way to display those fields w/o using calculated fields?
    Thanks for your help

    Hi Christian,
    Thanks for your help. Actually I am working on the SRM part of MDM, so I do not use portal to display data but the SRM-MDM UI on which I can not manage iViews.
    The need is to have, for each Material displayed, the name and the contact data of the Supplier. If I concatenate those data  the display is not very clear for the user. Eg:
    Supplier data: TOTO, contact_at_toto.com, 1234567890
    I would rather have :
    Supplier: TOTO
    EMail: contact_at_toto.com
    Phone Number: 1234567890
    As you said, the non automatic update of calculated fields is an issue in my case. So I am currently looking at assignments, which seems to be schedulable via a workflow but I don't know if it's a good mean?
    Best regards,
    Patrick

  • IDOC Overrides the data in SAP

    Hi Experts,
    I am working on MDM 7.1 SP5 Vendor Master Implementation. We are maintaining all the SAP data in MDM and there is no manual intervenation at SAP ECC
    So we have used standard repository , CREMDM04 as XSD and the standard process code for IDOC
    Later Business has decided to maintain only one field Search Term 2 directly in SAP ECC and not part of MDM
    So i have unmapped that field in the Syndication map, and also in the PI mapping .
    When we syndicate the data from MDM to SAP, the IDOC overrides the search term 2 directly maintained in SAP ECC
    When i checked in the IDOC posted to ECC, this field SORT2 is not part of it.
    As a workaround, though SORT2 is part of only ADRMAS, still i have passed / though it is not mapped. But no luck
    Could you kindly help me to resolve this
    Regards,
    Antony

    Hi Rajesh,
    I have mapped the SORT2 in MDM & as well as PI with the value /
    In IDOC the sort2 value is going as / and over rides the value in SAP
    I believe the / concept will work only for CREMAS so that it will not over ride the ADRMAS data which is posted to SAP
    Please advice is there any work around as this issue hampers our go live
    Regards,
    Antony

  • Item mapping during SRM Contract Distribution

    Hi All,
    When I distribute Central Contract from SRM to ECC How do I do product mapping?
    Eg -  My product ID in SRM and ECC is different and while distributing contract to ECC, I would need to map SRM product to ECC product.
    I checked FM BBP_PRODUCT_MAP is for the purpose of product mapping thru SAP Content Integrator.
    SAP Content Integrator is a part of MDM where the mappings are maintained.
    But in SRM 7.0 the Content integrator FMs  like /SAPMCI/GET_CONTENT seems obsolete.
    Any idea how the product mappings is achieved in SRM 7.0.
    Thanks,
    Rohith

    Hi Andrew,
    What error message are you getting when distributing the contract to ECC?

  • Portal development regulations

    Hi all.
    In our project we have following situation:
    1. Our project team implements portal in it's MDM functionality (as a part of MDM project).
    2. There are other project teams that might need to develop portal based applications in future, e.g. portal potentially will be shared by different project teams.
    Hereby, we need to work out regulation documents that would lead our joint activities within portal. These are typical activities - development, configuration, transport, objects naming and usage.
    If anyone has information or documents regarding this issue, can you please share that with me or post links here?
