Is Epson Perfection v370 Photo Scanner Yosemite Compatible?

Where can I find info on what peripherals are Yosemite compatible?

Howdy Steve,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
The article linked below provides information about supported printer and scanner software available for Yosemite, and it does list the EPSON Perfection V370 as a supported device.

  • My Epson Perfection V500 photo scanner stopped working when I upgraded to Yosemite. The only scanner available is my Epson All-in-One.

I installed the new Yosemite operating system even though I was afraid something bad would happen. Well. it did. I can no longer scan photos using my photo scanner. I have updated all the drivers and it is still not working. I have an Epson Perfection V500 photo scanner, as well as an Epson WorkForce 845 all-in-one scanner, printer, copier. The 845 is on the network. The V500 is connected to my computer. For some reason, I keep getting the error that my V500 is not connected and when I try to add it, my mac does not find it. I know it is there. It was working before I upgraded. Help

You may have already done so, but if not...
    Try a different USB cable.
    Reboot your computer
Launch Disk Utility (in the Utilities folder) and Repair Disk Permission
in the left pane, click once on the name of your hard disk
in the right pane, click on the First Aid tab near the top
under the blank window, click the button "Repair Disk Permissions."
Afterward, click the "verify disk" button and it will check your hard disk.
    Now, try your scanner...

  • OS 10.4.4 + Photoshop Elements 2.0 + Epson Perfection 3200 Photo Scanner

i have an epson perfection 3200 photo scanner which had worked fine importing into photoshop elements 2.0 when i had an imac g3, but i cannot get it to work on my new machine, a powerbook g4 using 10.4.4. epson said it should work (i downloaded the most recent driver) but adobe said that 10.4.4 does not support photoshop elements 2.0 or 3.0. i downloaded 3.0 (they have a month trial) and it acknowledged my scanner for a second but then repeated the error message.
    any thoughts?
    thanks.

Further to Barbara's suggestions, have you tried uninstalling your scanner and then disconnecting it physically from your PB. Then reinstall the scanner software and any updated drivers with the scanner still disconnected. Then reconnect the USB to the scanner and see whether you have better success. Epson scanners can be fussy (shy?) about being recognised, and I used these steps when I "lost" my Epson 3170 when moving to 10.3.x.
Barbara is absolutely right about PS Elements 2 and 10.4.4 - I'm also using it regularly with no problems. Since you got it to work with your previous computer and OS, you can also get it to work with your new PB and 10.4.4 - it just may need a little coaxing...

  • How to access my Epson Perfection 2400 Photo scanner?

How can I access my Epson Perfection 2400 Photo scanner after upgrading from PS CS4 to CS6?
There is no Photoshop File/Export/Epson scanner listed anymore. I downloaded a TWAIN plug-in and loaded it in the PS Plug-in folder, but that did not help.
    What should I be doing?

  • Elements 13 does not recognise Epson Perfection 4990 photo scanner

I just installed Elements 13 (also have 11 and 12 installed).  I have installed 13 as a 64 bit (windows 8), but cannot get it to recognize my Epson perfection 4990 photo scanner (or Perfect Effects 4, for that matter).  Any ideas?  I copied the PlugIN files from 12 to 13, but so far no dice.

  • Install Epson Perfection 3200 Photo Scanner

My kernel is a custom built 2.6.3. I am trying to install an Epson Perfection 3200 Photo Scanner. It works under SuSE8.2 so there is no fundamental hardware problem. The sane website lists the 3200 as completely supported.
The system recognizes the scanner, as shown in part of cat /proc/bus/usb/devices:
    D: Ver= 2.00 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=ff Prot=ff MxPS=64 #Cfgs= 1
    P: Vendor=04b8 ProdID=011c Rev= 1.02
    S: Manufacturer=EPSON
    S: Product=EPSON Scanner
    C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=c0 MxPwr= 2mA
    I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 2 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=ff Prot=ff Driver=(none)
    E: Ad=81(I) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl=0ms
    E: Ad=02(O) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl=0ms
    The program sane-find-scanner produces:
    found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8, product=0x011c) at libusb:001:003
    # Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not be supported by
    # SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage.
    The program scanimage -L produces:
No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).
The problem appears to be that the system cannot find a driver. Is the driver suppose to come from sane and there is a configuration issue? Is the system suppose to find the driver as a module or compiled-in the kernel? Is there some wild and wonderful dev - devsfs issue?
Any intel (small i) would be most appreciated.
    Rick

the generic usb scanner module is no longer in the kernel. any scanner that used it mus use libusb now. to do this first remove any entry you have in any module loading files that load that module.
next add either one of these lines to your fstab:
    none /proc/bus/usb/ usbfs defaults 0 0
    or
    none /proc/bus/usb/ usbdevfs defaults 0 0
but going by your output so far you would seem to have one of these two lines in fstab.
anyway either one of those lines will give root only access to your scanner so you will need to give your user access to the device. your can do that in a few ways.
first you can create a group add your user to it then edit your usbfs line to read:
    none /proc/bus/usb/ usbfs rw,mode=666,gid=<--newgroupnamehere--> 0 0
or if you have a single user you can edit the line to read:
    none /proc/bus/usb/ usbfs defaults,mode=666 0 0
if this does not work read up on hotplug or add this line to you rc.local:
    chown -R <yourusername>.users /proc/bus/usb/xxx/*
where the "xxx" represents the three digit number directory in /proc/bus/usb/ that represents your scanner. you can find this by running scanimage -L as root and it will give you two three digit numbers in the output. then look in the number directory/directories for those two numbers and that will be the directory you put in for the xxx.

  • Photoshop Elements 11 does not recognize Epson Perfection 4990 Photo Scanner from "File"/"Import"

I just upgraded from Photoshop Elements 6 to Elements 11 on a brand new iMac running OS X 10.8.2, but Elements 11 will not recognize my Epson Perfection 4990 PHOTO Scanner as an option to import from when I click on "File" then "Import." Is there a Plug-In that may be missing for this to operate as it used to in Elements 6 running on an older G5 Non-Intel processor?  I don't have the new Elements 11 Disk to copy anything from, since I downloaded the program directly from Adobe.

  • OS X Mavericks, Epson Perfection V600 Photo scanner

Installed OSX Mavericks on my 2010 iMac.  My Epson Perfection V600 Photo scanner was working fine but now is not.  Clicked for Software Updates and none found.  Any suggestions?  Epson website say to to the iMac Software Update function but all updates installed already.

Same thing happened to me. If software update shows no updates, then you're set. I think Apple did away with the need for third party software and the Epson scanner driver. Now you open any scanner ready software package and go to the "Import from Scanner" (or "Import From Device...") option. Works in Preview. Works in Photoshop CC.

  • Epson Perfection 2480 photo scanner

Just got a new iMac running Snow Leopard. I have a problem getting my scanner to work, Scanner is a Epson Perfection 2480 Photo. I have down loaded the latest driver from Epson. If I try to run the scanner from finder I get the following message.
The application “Epson Scan” could not be launched because of a sheared library error: “<EPSON Scan> < EPSON Scan> < TWAIN Source Manager.Shlb> ”
The scanner will not work in any applications giving error messages when trying to find it.
However in system Preferences you find the scanner in Printer & Fax and if you open it from there you can scan to the Desktop, Documents Folder etc.
    Will scan from Image Capture
I have spoken to Epson and Apple
I think the problem must be the “shared library error” But having spent the best part of 2 days on the phone to various people I am no further forward.
Epson say is a Apple problem
Apple say is a Epson problem
    Any help would be appreciated

I have looked at this again. If you go applications, epson scan, more info it shows application as powerPc version 2.73 try to run it from applications and you get sheared library error as detailed in previous post.
Go to joe, library. printers and there is a 2480/2580 scanner, more info on that shows application universal version 6.4 and allows you to select 32bit and to open using rosetta this will open and scan.
When you run from system preferences this is what is opening not the version 2.77 downloaded from epson. Is this where the shared library error is and if so how do I solve it, have tried deleting v2.77 but scanner still will not run in Word etc. tried deleting v6.4 still no go.
Also if you go Mac HD,library, image capture, twaine data sources the epson v2.77 appears and not v6.4 in there but in devices there is epson scanner app. version5.2.5. Getting nowhere fast

  • Epson Perfection 4490 photo scanner will not on latest mac pro

My epson 4490 scanner will not work on my new mac pro. Downloaded the lastest driver from epson and nothing.
    Any ideas guys?
    Much Appreciated

    The issue commenced with 10.5.2
Here is the answer from Epson, and it works:
To get the Epson Scan scanner driver running on the Intel Core Duo mac, a
complete cleanout and reinstall may be required.
In this case we would recommend using the following steps to get a full
cleanout of all hidden files from earlier Epson Scan version(s) and a fresh
    install:
    UNINSTALL
Note: the files found will vary by OS and driver version. Not all files and
locations will be present. If one file cannot be found, just skip to the
next item. If an EPSON SCAN or EPSON SCANNER named file is found in an
adjacent location, you can trash it. Do not remove any other EPSON files.
    1. Go into HD, APPLICATIONS, UTILITIES and open ACTIVITY MONITOR. Highlight
the EPSON SCANNER MONITOR process and click STOP or QUIT PROCESS to FORCE
QUIT the process. Close ACTIVITY MONITOR.
In HD, APPLICATIONS - move EPSON SCAN and EPSON SCANNER MONITOR to the
    trash.
2a. In HD, LIBRARY, APPLICATION SUPPORT, EPSON - remove EPSON SCAN, if
present. Also check the contents of the Epson folder. Remove only files
inside it that are related to the scanner, for example EPSON USB SCANNER or
    EPSON FW SCANNER BUNDLE.
2b. Check in HD, LIBRARY, APPLICATION SUPPORT. There may be other Epson
files. Any files to do with the Epson scanner name or Epson Scan you can
    remove from here.
    3. In HD, LIBRARY, APPLICATION SUPPORT, TWAIN*, TWAIN DATA SOURCES - remove
EPSON SCAN, if present, and any files bearing your scanner's name. (*The
Twain folder may not be present on all OS 10.4 Macs.)
4a. In HD, LIBRARY, IMAGE CAPTURE, TWAIN DATA SOURCES - remove any Epson
scanner-named ".ds" files, for example the bearing your scanner's name,
EPSON STYLUS or PERFECTION #### X.ds
4b. In HD, LIBRARY, IMAGE CAPTURE, DEVICES, remove EPSON SCANNER.DS, if
    present
(This is a generic resident scanner driver. Once the Epson scanner software
is working properly it will not be needed, so it can be deleted.)
    5. In HD, USERS, (YOUR USER NAME), LIBRARY, PREFERENCES - remove EPSON
(scanner name ####) PREFS, if present
    6. In HD, USERS, (YOUR USER NAME), LIBRARY, PREFERENCES, EPSON - remove
EPSON SCAN and EPSON SCANNERMONITOR PREFS, if present
Once the above files have been moved to the trash, you do not need to empty
the trash. Simply restart your Mac. You are ready to reinstall.
    DOWNLOAD
If you have not done so already, use the following steps to obtain the
download for the new Intel Core Duo driver:
    1. Go to http://support.epson.com
    2. Select Scanners, then Epson Perfection Series, then your scanner model
    name.
    3. Under DRIVERS & DOWNLOADS select Macintosh.
    4. Download only the driver marked for the Intel Core Duo system.
    Installation instructions:
    1. After download is complete, double click the icon that appears on your
desktop. This will create a disk image on your desktop.
    2. Open the disk image.
    3. Double-click the EPSON SCAN INSTALLER icon to begin the installation.
    4. Enter password and follow prompts to install the driver. At the EASY
INSTALL option, use the up/down arrows and select CUSTOM Install. Check
ONLY your scanner model before clicking INSTALL.
    5. After installation is complete, quit the installer and restart the Mac
    before testing.
To test this driver, do the following:
    1. Launch Epson Scan by going into your HARD DRIVE, APPLICATIONS, and EPSON
    SCAN.
    2. If prompted, select your scanner from the list of models and click OK.
    3. In the FILE SAVE SETTINGS window, you can designate the location, name
and type of file the scans will be saved as.
-LOCATION defaults to HD/USERS/(YOUR USER NAME)/PICTURES. Click CHOOSE if
    you wish to change this.
-PREFIX determines how the scan will be named. Type any name you like. You
can also designate a start number.
-FILE TYPE dicates what format the scans will be saved in. ie. .JPG, .TIFF,
    .PDF, or .PICT)
-For example: if the prefix is "img", the start number is "1", and the
format is "JPG", the name of the file saved in
    PICTURES will be "IMG001.JPG"
    4. Click OK once settings are changed as desired.
    5. The EPSON SCAN window will open and begin scanning in FULL AUTO MODE. In
FULL AUTO MODE the software makes all the decisions for you (as to what is
being scanned, where it is on the flatbed, etc). This is the easiest way to
    scan.
    6. If you want full control over the scanning process click PAUSE and
change FULL AUTO MODE to HOME MODE or PROFESSIONAL MODE. In the latter two
modes you can change your scan settings as desired. Click SCAN after you
have selected your settings. Click CLOSE once the EPSON SCAN is finished
    scanning.
    7. When scanning is complete, your images will be saved in the location
specified on FILE SAVE SETTINGS, with the prefix and in the format you set.

  • Epson Perfection V500 Photo Scanner Drivers

I receive this message when I try to activate my Epson Scanner under OS X 10.9:
"You can't use this version of the application "EPSON Scan.app" with this version of OS X.
    You have "EPSON Scan.app" 3.2.4"
When I go to the Epson site to download the proper drivers, it says I can only download the update from the Apple Store using Software Update. When I run Software Update it doesn't show any updates for the Epson scanner.
How do I get the proper update?
    Thanks,
    George

    This is what came up:
    On the link - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3669
    It does say:
Important: Use Software Update before connecting a printer or scanner. This updates your Mac's database of the latest supported printer and scanner models. If you don't use Software Update before attempting to connect a new printer, you may not see available software when you connect your device.

  • ICA Scanner Driver gives poor quality scans Epson Perfection 1660 Photo

The controls on the ICA Scanner Driver for the Epson Perfection 1660 Photo scanner are very crude, and it's difficult if not impossible to get the quality I used to get with the previous Epson Scan driver.  Where there used to be Levels, Curves, and Zoom controls, now there are only crude Brightness and Contrast sliders.  Is there any way I can get more control over levels and curves, and zoom in on an image to fine tune the cropping, like I used to do with Epson Scan?  Or will I have to  buy a current model scanner?  The Epson Scan program for the Perfection 1660 scanner is no longer compatible with Mac OS X 10.7.

I bought Vuescan 12 years ago, got the professional version. I have used it on Mac's and a PC or two. I have been through a dozen or more scanners over the years, upgraded OS's a hefty number of times as well.  And it still works like a champ.
Best $40 I ever spent.  (what it cost back then for Pro...)
You can go to his site, and try Vuescan for free before you buy.  Not a big software company, just a guy who loves scanners, and his son.  And he's been offering the software a long, long time, and updates the product constantly.

  • Driver for Epson Perfection 3170 Photo

I have an Epson Perfection 3170 Photo scanner.  It is a fine scanner that has served me well for many years through many different operating systems, Windows as well as Mac OS X.
The scanner software is no longer supported by Epson for OS X Lion.  The only way I can now san is by using the drivers that are built into the OS.  I can access the scanner either through System Preferences/Print & Scan, or use Image Capture.
Unfortunately, all the scans are of an extremely poor quality.  I can no longer scan fibrant colors or stong blacks, the entire scan is now murky and all colors as well as the blacks and greys are faded.
Does anybody have the same experience?  Is there a solution to this?
    Thanks in advance.

After upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion, I have the same problem now with my Perfection 3170. I have installed all of the available updates and new ICA scan update. Even tho' it installed a new Epson scan, it would not acknowledge my scanner. From an output point of view, VueScan is not much better but I object to having to pay for something that was free and working when I bought the scanner. However, there is a manual work around in Image Capture that will get you closer to the original scanned source. After the source has been overview scanned, alter the scan parameters. I change "IMAGE CORRECTION" from None to Manual. This brings up 4 individual measurements. All 4 markers or indicators should be in the centre position. Using the indicators like a ruler, make these changes: Brightness - 1.5 to the left of centre (-1.5), Tint: .5 left of centre (-.5), Temperature leave as is, and Saturation: .5 to the right of centre (+.5). Then Scan. The resultant scan is pretty close to OK. In photoshop, I reduce the Cyan and Magent by 10% and the Yellow by 5% and I find that my white is now white according to the info box (0C, 0M, 0Y, 0K). Until Epson can supply a lion compatible driver for this printer I will be using this workaround. Hope this helps you get decent scans again.
