Is firefox the only intel accepted browser for my Leopard I Mac

My bank says I need an Intel supported browser to keep getting online banking. I have Leapord Intel Core dup, 2GB memory and plenty of space left on my system. I had Firefox 2 years ago but deleted it as it caused crashing and messed up some software. Now Apple says the new Firefox is the only Intel browser that will work and because I have 10.5.8 it won't let me download the new or offer an older model. Friends who have upgraded to SL or Mountain Lion say their Navigator scanner stopped working, Quicken is not working, and other software is acting up. So I am caught in the middle and don't know what to do. Anyone know another Microsoft compatible software that might work with Mac and not mess up what I have?

I am having the same issue....Same address for years - same as USPS - I tried 5 times (3 macs and 2 iPhones) and now i have 5 CHARGES for 1.00 each on my credit card. I took the credit card info off so they don't charge me anymore. How can they charge me yet still not allow me to download free updates and say I have an invalid address? You will need the help of some sort of 3rd party software to help you copy the content from your Shuffle back to your PC. Once you have done that, you can reimport this music into iTunes and configure it to sync to your new Shuffle.

The formats YouTube supports can be found here:

Since YouTube supports AAC, the file format iTunes uses by default, it's probable you don't need any sort of converter.
If you continue to have problems with uploading to YouTube, I'd suggest you ask for assistance in their forums:

What is the latest version of XCode for Snow Leopard?

I have XCode 4.0.2 for Snow Leopard installed. Is that the latest version available for Snow Leopard?
Is Apple pushing us to upgrade to Lion to get a version newer than 4.0.2. I see that XCode 4.2 is available for Lion.

This information might be useful for those who are not members of the $99/year iOS Developer Program. I am not a member, I have Snow Leopard, and I purchased Xcode 4.0 for $5 from the Mac App Store in March 2011. Just for fun I searched the app store for Xcode. As expected, the only search result is Xcode 4.2 with stated minimum requirement 10.7 (Lion). I am curious why it even shows Snow Leopard users the active Free button that implies I can download it. I don't know how the app store works but I assume it would not let me install this on 10.6 Snow Leopard.
But the Purchased view shows Xcode for Snow Leopard. I noticed the button on the right showed Update rather than Installed. Clicking the item name to find details including the version number shows Your request could not be completed. I decided to update in hopes this would be 4.2. I deleted Install Xcode from my Applications folder, restarted the App Store, then pressed the Update button. 1.77GB later I have Install Xcode in my Applications folder, preview shows version 4.2 (used to show 4.0.2),
The installer just finished running, I now have Xcode 4.2 build 4C199. About Xcode.pdf in the Developer folder starts with Developer tools for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and iOS 5. So this is clearly not exactly the same as Xcode 4.2 for Lion. It does include the iOS 5 SDK, LLVM 3.0, etc. Not sure what is different in the Lion build.

The window where Domain Name, Edit, Modify doesn't show up to access my Fatcow website on my new iMac in Firefox (the only browser Macs can use). Help!

Just got a new iMac. For the first few days, I was able to log in to, then access the window in Fatcow web host that allows me to make changes to my website. Now, the window that is supposed to say "Domain Name" and "Edit" and "Modify" is blank, so I cannot access my website to make changes. Firefox is the only browser available to Macs through Fatcow. In the two weeks before getting the iMac, I had the same problem on an Acer laptop. Hughesnet is our internet provider, since we live in the country. I have worked with several Fatcow techs, and they do not believe the problem is on their end. When I open Firefox, there is now also a message that says I'm missing plugins, yet when I follow the plugin link, no plugins are listed as missing. I have removed/reinstalled Firefox, to no avail. I have turned off the clear-cookies-automatically add-on, cleared the cache and history, etc., to no avail. I have printed out the HTML script for the Fatcow window from my Mac at work (from which I can access the window) and compared to the one at home. There doesn't appear to be any script missing, but I can't say for sure. I have read several articles, hoping for clues to fixing this problem. Now I need your technical expertise. HELP!

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

Firefox the only browser that works?

I'm having a really strange problem...
Since maybe a couple weeks ago Firefox is the only browser that works for me. Other browsers can't seem to connect to ANY website. I've tried Safari and Opera... they don't work.
I have:
tried several different wifi signals
reinstalled Safari, Opera, and Firefox
reinstalled OS X (archive and install)
repaired disk permissions
No matter what I do, Firefox is the only thing that works

That's not a particularly good thing. Browsers should NEVER ignore system wide proxy settings. They need to change that.
Firefox has 3 Proxy modes:
a) No proxy
b) Auto-detect proxy settings for this network
c) Manual proxy configuration
The default is "No proxy"
If you select "Auto-detect proxy settings for this network", Firefox will use the Network proxy setting.

Firefox loads only blank new tabs for all web pages, with blank url bar.

After a minor automatic update (16.0.1 --> 16.0.2), firefox is now completely unusable.
Any time I attempt to load a page, it only shows a blank tab labeled 'new tab'.
The url bar for this page will be blank if I try to open it from a link or bookmakrk.
The url bar for this page will be exactly what I typed if I manually typed a url.
Right-clicking the blank pages does nothing: no context menu.
The 'troubleshooting information' page DID load properly though; it's the only page I've been able to display at all so far.
Restarting firefox did not fix the issue.
Restarting firefox in safe mode with addons disabled did NOT fix the issue -- so please don't waste time trying to tell me it's the addons.
Changing network proxy settings did not fix the issue.
There are no connection problems: IE can load pages just fine from the same computer.
I love mah firefox... but now it's dead... please help!

Update: Solved:
Firefox works properly after restarting entire computer.
It's poor form to require computer restarts for minor browser updates... and even poorer to not say so when you do.
(Some of us are running servers in the background that should not be interrupted.)

HD slideshow is the only one that works for me.. WHY??

I have a new mac pro with lots of hd and ram 5GB.. so I don't think its my system.
What I need to know is that I can make an acceptable slideshow if
1) I lower the resolution of my photos from 3884x2600 to about 1024x1024
2) I create a imovie 720hd or 1080i HD.
ANY other format creates a lousy final picture quality when viewed on the TV. I get a shimmering, but not so noticible jaggies as some have posted. If I keep the photo still and not use KB.. the still images are ok, but not fantastic. The KB kills them. This seems opposite of what I have read of the bug in imovie6.
Can anyone explain why if I use the HD formats for Imovie the photos turn out ok?
I would like to keep them in a 4x3 format but can't if I use the HD formats. Is there a way to make it 4x3 after?
Anyway.. I have done a lot of testing and this is the best I can get so far.

I would like to Disable 'OUTPUT' Tab in SRM PO (Web browser) for different users who are assigned to SRM Employee Role (who has PO Display Authorization) to restrict PO Print Preview only (not to restrict displaying PO field values in SRM Web Browser). I have to have BBP_PD_PO activity as 'Display' to display field values in SRM PO Web Browser - Under SRM Employee Role.
Let me know the solution for the above requirement.

I have the same problem with the PO Output tab.
I would like to disable the Output tab for any user without modification.
SCREEN BADI is not working, because with screen BADI you can only influence position fields, here we ve got a TAB /Field on header level.
CHECK BADI: I did not get the message here. How should I block the user to change the output format only by throwing a message within CHECK_BADI?
The only way I see is a modification to disable the whole Tab.

Well... I'm getting to my breaking point.
First my system.. Mac Pro 2.66 2x300gb raid 0. x1900 ACD 30
5gb Ram
I have read many many posts.. but I still need your help.
I have found that the only thing that gives me a marketable slideshow in terms of quality images is to make a slideshow in imovie under 1080i.
The problem with this is that it really really slows my computer down, and I don't want to do this with a slide show of about 150 images per client, and then have wait more for transistions.
Shouldn't I start a new slideshow in "DV" setting for a 4x3?
I have tried reducing res from 10.2 mp to a 1024x??? settting for images (depending on orientation). All I seem to lose here is a bit of sharpening as I reduce the image resolution, which makes sense if I understand correctly.
So... Where to go from here.
I read the posts.. and have determined that I can use Photo to move (which I have) to make clips and import them into Imovie. Again, a slow process as each clip has to be done seperatly. Is there another way with PTM, because it does render the best Ken burns effect I have seen. Again 150 images is too long to wait to make a slide show of a wedding, not cost effective for me.
Hope someone can help.

What is the best way to remove personal data from the hard drive in preparation for selling my old Mac?

I am going to sell or perhaps donate my old Power Mac G5. Is there an easier, yet comprehensive way to remove my data from the hard-drive? My best approach is dumping anything I do not want found into the trash.
I am running Mac OS 10.5.8 on the powermac G5

For better security than the simple Erase (which does not actually over-write the data blocks, only clears the directory), choose Security Options, and Zero all data, one pass.
After a Zero all data, the only way to recover the data is to dis-assemble the drive in a clean room and use expensive test gear to recover a little of the data. That is good for all but Military Secrets.
If you really trust no one under any circumstances, remove the drive and beat it to death with a hammer.

HT1222 Does the most recent security update for Snow Leopard break Rosetta or has that been fixed?

I want to make sure Security Update 2012-001 does not break Rosetta on Snow Leopard. I heard something about that, and I can't afford to lose my PowerPC applications. Thanks.

The original one did have such issues.
The revised v. 1.1 version got rid of those issues.
Only the v. 1.1 version is now available for download. It can be installed as the only update, or on top of the original update to correct the problems.
