  • How can I open Adobe Bridge CS6 in high resolution on my MacBook Pro Retina display?

How can I open Adobe Bridge CS6 in high resolution on my MacBook Pro Retina display? When I click Get Info, the "Open in Low Resolution" box is marked and locked. How can I unmark this box? I currently run 10.9.1. I can open Adobe Photoshop CS6 in high resolution without any problem. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

There is no such thing. In CS6 only PS itself is Retina compatible. You would have to use CC for full Retina support.

  • 24-inch Mid 2007 as external display for Macbook Pro Retina?

I'm a video editor looking for a new laptop. Tough decisions, but these facts may help my decision...
Can I use my 24-inch Mid 2007 as external display for Macbook Pro Retina?
And if so, would the Macbook be able to access the external hard drives that are connected to the iMac? Or do the external hard drives have to be connected to the Macbook Retina?
Retina's picture quality is just incredible but compared to Macbook Pro non-retina you sacrifice: disc drive, port options, customization, anti-glare screen. And its more expensive. Arghh

I would use the retina as the primary screen for the canvas and viewer, while putting the browser and timeline on the iMac.
Apple won't help here. Unfortunately, they leave they're old products in the dust and wouldn't waste time writing an article about connecting a macbook retina to an '07 iMac.
Thank you for replying though Ralph. The answer has to be out there somewhere.

  • IMac as Display for MacBook Pro

I would have my iMac as extrernal display for MyBook Pro.
If I will find coresponding adapter will I be able to do so?
iMac MA589LL with mini-DVI port (tech specs shows it is output but didn't say if it can be input mode)
MacBook Pro MB990LL with Mini Display Port
    Thanks in advance...

Only 2009 and 2010 27" iMacs and 2011 ThunderBolt iMacs have the ability to be used as an external display.
'Older' iMacs don't have that ability.
    Sorry

  • High Resolution Display for MBP 13"?

Hope Apple is listening from this board ... Am I the only one who want the powerful MBP 13" w/ fine high-res display of MBA 13"?

I believe that 133 ppi (pixels per inch) is actually quite high for a Mac desktop, considering that all other Mac OS X releases before it have made the blanket assumption that its drawing canvas is at 72 dpi, and that resolution independence hasn't really taken hold in the Mac world like it has in iOS (and iOS gets away with it by representing displays in a multiple of 2x by 2x).
The current MacBook Pro 13" and MacBook Air computers have a 133 ppi display, which I find impressive already.  If Apple does end up doubling that to 266 ppi, I'd really love to see it, but then again, having such a display paired up with an external 27" Thunderbolt Display is going to make me think twice.

  • Resolution scaling for MacBook Pro (non-retina)

I see that the MacBook Pro Retina has a nifty resolution scaling feature that can make the fonts/icons look bigger while maintaining the display's native resolution.
Does the non-Retina MBP have the same ability? I would really like to be able to scale by 125% (fonts/icons appear 125% bigger) while keeping native resolution of 1440x900.

Sorry, but I don't think it's possible.  The Retina display does let you choose a couple options that are higher resolution than half, but as far as I can tell those appear blurry just like selecting that smaller resolution does for you, and all it really does is make the OS treat it like that's the resolution.  At best you'd only get a few things taht would look any better than just straight up setting your resolution to 1280x800.  I looked around a lot and wasn't able to find anything.
@pcpu  Sorry, but that wasn't what he was asking.  On the Retina MacBook you have 4 or 5 scale options, a few of them make it so you don't have the full resolution possible, but it's bigger than 1/2 the display resolution anyway, and I guess it might display UI elements that are vector in the actual full resolution, but most things look blurry from what I've heard.  He was asking if it was possible to do that same thing on his display, which I looked into, and I was unable to find any way to make the computer do the same thing on a non-retina display.  Telling him about how retina works isn't what he wanted, he wanted the UI bigger, and the UI is entirely vector or some such at this point so it would have looked just fine bigger if he could scale.

  • External Display for Macbook Pro

Hello everyone. I have a 17" 2.33GHz Macbook Pro and I am having trouble finding a good external display. I have already tried a Dell S2009W and a Dell S2209W. On both these monitors the graphics were great but the text was a bit blurry. I want to be able to operate the external as the sole display and not use the macbook display. I am looking for a 22" or 24" display. I will not be watching movies or photo editing, but text clarity is a must since I will be doing a fair bit of word processing and reading.
Can anyone explain to me why the Dell monitors had blurry text and which manufacturers I should be looking at (Gateway, Samsung, Viewsonic)?
    Thanks in advance.

I use a 22" Samsung and its working very nicely and the mirroring works perfectly, i highly suggest it

  • Dual Display - help with Cinema Display for MacBook Pro where MB won't detect displays.

I just got a Cinema Display (a1081 20") ("CD") off eBay to use as a dual screen with my Macbook Pro OS X 10.6.8 ("MB"). However, I can't get MB to recognize CD! I've tried power cycling both the MB and the CD with and without USB cord connected. MB won't recognize CD display in any situation. However, it is recognized in some capacity although I can't use dual display because the CD power button triggers MB to ask me if I want to restart, shutdown, or cancel.
    Any help is appreciated!!

Have you tried smc and pram resets?
Try Detect Displays in the Displays preference pane.
Does the Displays preference pane Arrangement show two screens?  If so do click gather windows and check the resolution setting of the new screen.

  • Lcd tv moniter instead of lcd computer display for macbook pro

I'm wondering if anyone has experience using an lcd tv moniter versus an external lcd computer moniter. We are trying to kill two birds with one stone and use this for presentations as well as doing some landscape design work.
I'm not sure if the resolution is good enough for this use. Any help would be much appreciated.
My macbook pro is not the new generation but was purchased in Oct 2008.

I ended up with a 24" samsung monitor, works great with the macbook pro. I can run it with the lid closed, although the macbook pro will heat up. Lid open but screen off will result in good air flow.

  • Using iMac as a display for MacBook Pro?

I understand that the new iMacs can be used as external displays but can not find any information on how this works. Is it just a matter of connecting a MacBook Pro to the iMac and hitting a key? Also, what cables do I need to get this to work?
    Thanks
    Tony
    null

Hey, I just got my 27" iMac last week and can verify that this works, as of a few minutes ago. I used the cable that converts from DisplayPort (the end that plugs into the iMac) and the mini DisplayPort (the end that connects to the MacBook Pro.
Plugged in the cable and the iMac screen flashed gray for a second, indicating, I guess, that the iMac had detected the external device. Then I could toggle it over with the Cmd-F2 keyboard trick. When you toggle it on, the iMac screen looks like a giant second monitor for the MacBook Pro. When you toggle it off, the screen switches back to your regular iMac desktop. When I first connected the cable, the MacBook screen dimmed briefly with an overlayed thermometer bar I hadn't seen before indicated some sort of calibration, perhaps? That took a few seconds, then it worked like a charm.
HOWEVER, if you are expecting the iMac to function as a second display for another device (like a PC, for example), the same trick DOES NOT work. This isn't clear in the documentation on apple.com and even some of the people in the Apple Store who I spoke to when I was buying it had not much clue about this, other than that it would work with a MacBook Pro. There's another device required (evidently) to make this work. Have had to order it, but have not tried it yet:

  • New iMac as second display for MacBook Pro not working

I just bought the new thin 2012 27" iMac as a replacement to the last model I had.
I want to use the iMac as a second display for my 2012 MacBook Pro.
I have a Mini Display Port to Mini Display Port cable that used to work with my previous setup and at work with my external display.
However, this isn't working on the new iMac. When I try the Command + F2 suggestion I've seen in the forums here. Nothing happens.
Do I need a new cable now that these are "thunderbolt" connections?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Demetre

You will most likely need a Thunderbolt cable as they are both Thunderbolt devices and not Mini DisplayPort.

  • 2 displays for macbook pro 13" ?

    Hi,
i'm a German user and i would like to know, wheather the macbook pro 13" is able to handle 2 external monitors. What about the internal display? what kind of displays do i have to use ?
thank you very much for your comments !

    I have a 2011 Macbook Pro and I use two external monitors~
    You will need:
    1. a mini displayport to HDMI adapter
    2. USB to HDMI adapter
    3. Two HDMI cables
    4. Two monitors with HDMI port
Basically I am using the mini displayport output as the first monitor and the USB to HDMI output as the second monitor. Go to the "display"--"Arrangement" to change the settings.
It works great especially when you want the two external monitors to show different things~
BTW, The "USB to HDMI" adapter I used is from Cable Matters.
Here is a link for your reference: http://www.cablematters.com/pc-291-73-usb-20-to-hdmi-audio-video-1080p-adapter-f or-windows-and-macbook.aspx

  • Powerbook monitor as external display for Macbook Pro

    Hello,
I have a powerbook G4 and a newer Macbook Pro. Is it possible to use the display of the G4 as an external monitor for the MB Pro?

Try ScreenRecycler - seems like this will do what you need by tunneling through VNC instead of a direct video connection.
