Is it possible to add name to subject line when submitting a pdf form

Hi,
I have created a form with Live Cycle and added a button which submittingthe form as PDF. I was wondering is it possible to add staff name to the subject line just after Leave Request as seen in the picture below?
Regards

It is pretty easy to accomplish your requirement using scripts on a regular button rather than email submit button.
Look at this amazing sample created by Paul which explains a number of ways to submit form data through email.

  • What are the switches I can add to the subject line of an eprint email?

    I see some commands listed here and there but nothing comprehensive in a single location. If it were a command line I would enter "eprint -?" to get the help text listing all available commands.

    Hello Arkle,
    I think you meant that you can leave the body blank and it will print.  If you leave the subject line blank, ePrint may see the email as spam and reject it.  ePrint jobs should always be sent with a subject, but can be sent without a body.  I do not mean to correct you, but that confusion could cause some problems to arise.

  • Is it possible to add code to a button that would save the form as a jpeg file?

    Hi,
    I currently use pdf forms to create records for the work I do, these end up being 5-8MB large and not much smaller when 'flattened'. I currently use a 3rd party app to convert them to jpeg before uploading them to dropbox for the clients.  Is there a way to create code that i could add to  a button which would save the pdf as a jpeg file?

    Hi,
    The PDF forms are large because they include a large diagram which I then elaborate on with the drawing tools.  I actually use acrobat to make and edit the form but PDF Expert on my iPad to edit them etc sorry probably should have clarified that. It is a single page however with form field and the diagram.  I also attach a picture to the file before opening it in an app to convert to jpeg and then sending it back to pdf expert.
    The save as button only allows me to save it as a flattened or original document within PDF Experts guidelines hence why i was wondering if there was someway to curcumvent that and save it as a jpeg directly, somehow integrating the other app with the pdf expert programm t stop me having to switch between the two.
    The more I write the more I see how impossible this might be apologies for my ignorance if so.

  • How do I change the default email-subject line when emailing from Acrobat 8...

    Hi,
    After creating a document in acrobat and clicking the email icon on the tool bar, Acrobat automatically opens and attaches the document to a new email message in Outlook. It also adds the file name as the subject, then appends "- Adobe Acrobat Professional". How do I remove and/or customize the default subject line appended by Acrobat Pro 8.12?
    Thanks!

    Hi, I have the same problem as Alan L. Whenever I have a file open in Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and click File-> Attach to Email it creates a new Outlook message and attaches the file but does not populate the subject line with the file name. The subject line is blank. I tried to email the same PDF file from Foxit Reader and it correctly populated the subject field with the file name.
    If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Michael

  • Field name without ID when Save As PDF Form

    Hi,
    I couldn't fin anywhere anybody complaining about the same problem, thus I apologise if there is some bascis I don't understand.
    When I'm saving the form from FormsCentral as pdf, then fill the form, and finally export the data to Excel, the labels show an ugly machine-created ID on top of the label value
    Example: my orginial label is "2.1.1.1 Title" when exported in Excel, the column name becomes : "_2_1_1_1 Title_MLJDCBBxpN-6npaHxT3sWw".
    I can undesrtand the underscores (guess easier to be managed by computers), but I need people working with those forms, with very little IT skills.
    Would be possible to have nicer lables automatically (or hide this kind of ID) ?
    Thank you in advance for any help
    Best  regards
    Juan Manuel

    Hi Josh,
    Sorry for the confusion, my English is poor.
    Well, let's start saying that I'm working offline. Once I finished my form, I save it as a pdf document. This document is sent to the people to be filled. They send me back the filled file. I open Acrobat, click on Tools, and choose Forms>More Form Options>Merge Data Files into Spreadsheets... and choose the file to have the data exported. When I open the excel file the column titles look horrible, with the above mentioned serials. I just would like to find my labels.
    AND, by the way, with no need to complete all the steps mentioned above: when I save my form in pdf format and then open it on acrobat, if I choose Tools>Forms>Edit, first it says I have to save it as a copy otherwise not possible to edit as a form. Once saved as a copy and opened again, I click on Tools>Forms>Edit and see the awful labels [see attachment].
    Hope is clearer
    Thanks for any help

  • Is it possible to designate stapling when printing a PDF form?

    I am using Adobe Lifecycle Designer (ver. 10.0.1029120306.1.870331) to set up a new report for an SAP application.  I can certainly designate duplex printing from within the form by using Form Properties and the PDF Print Options, but no stapling option can be found.  Is this possible?  Is there a way to set this up from within the PDF form?  If not within the form, what have others found to work for their environment?  We are using Xerox GPD PS printers here and they certainly offer the stapling feature.
    Thanks for any suggestions...Pat

    OK...it has been a wild ride, but between our Basis team and the Server team (which handles our printer drivers), here is what they came up with to enable this feature.  They really put in the time to figure this out.  References to PRD in this document is a reference to our production machine.  ZPMLOCL is a printer type used by our users for printing these work order forms.  A lot of effort was also given to make sure the driver on the printer supported the stapling feature (most do anymore).  This effort is to not only allow stapling, but to also eliminate the pesky banner page which can suddenly start printing with these changes.  We are using Xerox printers in our evironment.
    Steps for Basis Portion of PRD change on the - Standard Work Order Form - shop paper document
    (STMS) Transport device type ZPMHPLJ4 to PRD with Transport
    SPAD
    Change device type of printer ZPMLOCL from SAPWIN to ZPMHPLJ4.
    Click on access method tab and change access method to G: (Front End Printing with Control Tech).
    Confirm the "No device Selection at frontend" checkbox is selected.
    Hit the Save button.
    Copy  zpmhppcl5e.xdc file from AD1 to ADS, in the location below.
      4. SA38/SE38* run program RSPO0022 on PRD and Check to see if transport from step 1 moves the assignment below.
          If not create assignment the same as in the red box  below.
      5. Finally, stop and then start the XML Form Module Java Service in ADS.
    I have no other notes on this setup.  I hope this helps you in your efforts to get the stapling feature up and running on your system.

  • I use Go Daddy Web Mail and FireFox may be preventing me from being able to put text into the subject line when composing an email.

    As the question / statement says, When in Firefox, once I've started my webmail application through Go Daddy, I can compose an entire email filling out all the required info. But, when I put the mouse over the 'Subject Line' and click, no cursor appears.
    Having walked through this with Go Daddy, they are convinced that it's FireFox because we opened up their webmail with 2 other browsers and both allowed me to plug in a subject line.

  • How do I access the subject line when I send an email?

    This never used to be a problem until recent "upgrades" but I can't put a subject for an email in the subject line even though I am constantly prompted to do so when I send an email. There doesn't seem to be any way to adjust preferences anymore either.

    There is a way to remove the Subject line!!
    follow these steps:
    go to Settings > Messages > uncheck "Show Subject Field "
    Thats it! You're problem will be solved!

  • Is it possible to add a border to artboards when printing with "ignore artboards" checked?

    I am a sign designer and very often I set up files with up to 30 artboards. Usually the signs are white with text, and I have to create a rectangle for each artboard and stroke it to show the border when I print it out to proof it to my boss to show the size of the artboard (scaled down, of course). I know if you print each artboard individually you can print trim marks, but I don't want to print 30 pages when I can print them all on one page. Any suggestions?

    Unfortunately know but I do have a thumb nail and storyboard feature request in for Illustrator so it can be used for this purpose and for an ideas toolfor video and website design.
    Sadly I have to date never received a contact from Adobe about this. The idea for this would give you the choice of Gray, Back or white background with a black outline. I would not give the option myself for custom settings on this one but it would work fine for your purposes.
    As far as your problem why don't you visit the scripting forum for Illustrator, it might be possible and or challenging enough for some one to wrtie one.

  • Re: Acrobat 9 - Attach to email, file name as subject line?

    Where has this feature gone???
    It's a simply time saver that our studio of over 40 relied upon everyday, and surprise-surprise, we outlay heaps more money for upgrades and yet again a feature has been forgotten since the previous version.
    MY GOD THIS GIVES ME THE *****!!!!
    Surely a patch to fix it wouldn't take Adobe any time at all.
    Does anyone know a way around it??

  • Issues with subject line when moving emails to another folder

    Hi.
    For the past few months I've been having a problem moving groups of emails from my inbox to another created folder. When I move a group of emails to another folder the subject of all the emails swap with each other. The issue seems to be with the iPhone native mail app only as when I connect via iPad or web the emails are correct.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Not that I'm aware of.
    Mail.app isn't a particularly scalable database in general, so you might want to look at your workflow.
    For better or worse, email is often ill-suited as a general information-storage and transfer mechanism.
    You might be able to set up a Rule to perform the move when the message arrives; if the mail messages involved are uniquely identifiable.
    It's also possible to implement server-side rules, depending on what you're up to, and what your own mail server or particular your mail provider supports here.
    I'm using a combination of these two approaches locally.
    Or swap out for a different mail client or a mail-handling package; a package or a tool that's better suited for the scale that you're apparently working at, and the requirements you have.

  • Is there a way to automatically set the file name in Acrobat Properties when exporting a PDF from Indesign?

    When I used Quark to make a PDF, the title area in the PDF was automatically populated with the file name, there in the properties tab. We like use this area to confirm file names of original files, so we can keep track of drafts, (in case the file name of the PDF is changed, which our boss often does). Is there any way to set up InDesign to do the same?

    @stadlock – I think I know what you mean…
    You exported to PDF and changed the file name in the export dialog to a different one from the document name presented there the first time you exported that document. And in exports after that the new name will be presented in the dialog instead of the name of the document.
    What you can do against that?
    1. First time you want to export: Save before the document is exported. And do not save after it's exported with a new file name.
    2. After the new file name is already there in the export dialog:
    Type in the document name in the dialog. Export. Or abort after chosing a export preference. Save. Check again, if the document's file name is in the export dialog. If yes, procede like in suggestion #1. If not do a full export with the document's file name, save and then procede with suggestion #1.

  • Is it possible to access a html based web service from a pdf form?

    I was wondering if it is possible to send a query from livecycle to web service and parse the return data.
    An quick example of what I am thinking is querying a database like wolfram alpha using their html query.
    It is in the format http://api.wolframalpha.com/v2/query?input=pi&appid=XXXX. where "pi" is the query and XXXX is the specific user id
    The website then returns a xml file.
    Is there anyway to send out that html with any query from a text field and process the response?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Naseko is right in using the formcalc get function, and I use this for accessing information from google calendar, you can also call the formcalc get function from JavaScript as described here http://blogs.adobe.com/formfeed/2009/02/calling_formcalc_functions_fro.html.
    The main problem I have is with the yellow message bar message and popup saying do you want to allow access to api.wolframalpha.com (or whatever).  I think you can get around this by certifing the form, but I don't have access to the servre products to do that.
    Anyway, if it helps have a look at https://workspaces.acrobat.com/?d=vFcW-9OVSm*BdV6GyFfUIg you will need to modify the button click code to specify your own appid but the code is simple enough;
    var response = FormCalc.Function.Get("http://api.wolframalpha.com/v2/query?appid=<<appid>>&input=capital%20of%20australia");
    response = response.replace(/^<\?xml\s+version\s*=\s*(["'])[^\1]+\1[^?]*\?>/, "");
    var responseNode = xfa.datasets.createNode("dataGroup", "response");
    responseNode.loadXML(response, false, false);
    var answer = responseNode.resolveNode("queryresult.pod.(title.value=='Result')").subpod.plaintext.value;
    console.println(answer);
    So this code sends a query "capital of australia" and gets a response "Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia"
    Replace <<appid>> with your appid and look at the linked sample to see how FormCalc.Function.Get works.
    Also, expect Designer to crash a few times while getting it to work.
    Hope this helps,
    Bruce
