1) Is it possible to Create Material Master without Profit Center ?
2) How SAP System Validate Profit Center in material master. ? is it material Type wise ?
3) Whether PO Order Creation,GRN & MIRO Possible for those material Master without Profit Center.?

Hi,
Profit center is at the plant level.
You can create material master even with out a profit center.This field will be there in the costing view and and general sales/plant data.
while creation of the materila master if do not select these views system will not ask for that.Normally it is pertaining to the costing analysis.
A profit center manager is held accountable for both revenues, and costs (expenses), and therefore, profits. What this means in terms of managerial responsibilities is that the manager has to drive the sales revenue generating activities which leads to cash inflows and at the same time control the cost (cash outflows) causing activities. This makes the profit center management more challenging than cost centre management. Profit center management is equivalent to running an independent business because a profit center business unit or department is treated as a distinct entity enabling revenues and expenses to be determined and its profitability to be measured.
Business organizations may be organized in terms of profit centers where the profit center's revenues and expenses are held separate from the main company's in order to determine their profitability. Usually different profit centers are separated for accounting purposes so that the management can follow how much profit each center makes and compare their relative efficiency and profit. Examples of typical profit centers are a store, a sales organization and a consulting organization whose profitability can be measured.

Profit centers are assigned to controlling areas. And controlling areas can have many plants under them. So as long as both the plants and profit centers are in the same controlling area users will be able to extend the materials.
You should put in your validation control in the material master user exit. One of the exits you can use is

Dear All,
Pl advice me regarding following - (Version - ECC 6.0 with Doc Splitting Active)
The client is into Engg, Construction industry. We are having Project System. There are around 20-30 projects going on. Client wants to track receivables / payables on Each Project along with the Profit & Loss Statement for the project.
1) Decided to create each project as a Profit Center.
2) Problem is with material code & plant.
3) To track material / vendor transactions Project wise - EACH Project can be created as a Plant. So we can maintain Plant wise data for each material & maintain the Profit Center in Plant Data.
But we want to avoide creating Number of Plants. Instead planning to create only One Plant & create number of storage locations = number of Projects.
Here the Material / Vendor Transactions will be posted (in General Ledger view) with Only common Profit Center maintained in Material master.
Can we overcome this? Can we derive the Project wise Profit center some where from Srorage location or any other area (using substitution etc) without affecting sanctity of Document Splitting Function?
Pl help. This is very important.

The basic purpose of having plants is to have different valuation area. Unless you define your project sites as individual site how you are planning to handle the inventory/procurement/payment of each project separately. ForvBalance sheets you need to have plant for each site. Moreover Storage Locations are virtual and does not help you in balance sheet calculation. materials can be extended to all plants with individual prices and other unique values as ity differs from plant to plant if not all at least price will vary.

You can make the profit center field Mandatory , steps have been specified in the above thread.
Profit center field comes in "General plant data storage 2" view and "sales plant data" views only. so if a material is made with basic 1,2 views only , it wont come into the picture. But that shouldnt be a problem , coz its not Possible to create PO.GRN and MIRO for a material with only Basic views.

I have checked, the MRP controller is availble in Master Data for MRP Controller. And we have already created many material master with this MRP Controller.
What could be the possible cause for this error. Please help.

Is it possible to create a Master Form?
Hello... i am using Acrobat Pro 8.6. I was wondering if it might be possible to create a master form. I am using a form to receive artwork approval from my customers. My question is if I can use my proof form to create a form and use that form every single time. Only issue is I have to chante my proof form with the customers information and add their ad on to the form. All the areas that need the form fields will not change so I wasn't sure if its possible to just save all the field forms so that I can use it every time I open a new proof? Is this possible? If not, does anyone have a good idea on how to accomplish this without having to create a new form for every single customer we have, its a lot?

JaymeThanks for responding... when you copy the form, and I open up a new document and paste the form fields right into my new document? Is that what you mean, this may work. My proof sheet is created in Illustrator and I bring that into Acrobat to create the form. The form fields will not change, but the Illustrator file will always change. I just don't want to have to create a form every time, it takes a little bit of time. LOL

Create and Change Article Master Data
Functionality
You use this method to create new material master data or to change existing material master data. The data on a material can be transferred for each call.
When creating material master data, you must transfer the material number, the material type, and the industry sector to the method. You must also enter a material description and its language.
When changing material master data, you need enter only the material number.
In the header data, you must select at least one view for which data is to be created. Depending on the view selected, you must maintain other required parameters. If you do not enter values for all of the required parameters, the method is ended with an error message.
The corresponding fields in the tables (such as CLIENTDATA) must first be supplied with data by the calling program. An indicator must also be set for each of these fields so that the data is written to the database by the method. This requires the calling program to supply the corresponding field with the indicator in a checkbox table (for example, CLIENTDATAX). Checkbox tables exist for tables that do not contain any language-dependent texts (MAKT, MLTX), International Article Numbers (MEAN), or tax classifications (MLAN). Several data records for a material can be created in these tables.
If a structure contains fields for units of measurement (such as structure CLIENTDATA, field BASE_UOM), language indicators (such as structure MATERIALDESCRIPTION, field LANGU), or country indicators (such as structure TAXCLASSIFICATIONS, field DEPCOUNTRY), there is always a field of the same name with the ending _ISO. This makes it possible to transfer either the internally used SAP code or a standardized ISO code for the units of measurement, language indicators, or country indicators. ISO codes are converted to an SAP code internally for further processing. The ISO code is used only if the SAP code is not transferred. If you use ISO codes, there must be a unique assignment of the ISO code to the SAP code in the following activities in Customizing for Global Parameters:

I AM CREATING MATERIAL MASTER USING BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA.I AM LOADING THE VALUES FROM A FLAT FILE .
THE VALUE FOR GROSS_WT IS NOT SEEN WHEN THE MATERIAL IS CREATED.
THE BAPI_MARM STRUCTURE HAD THE FILED BRGEW(GROSS_WT).
I AM ABLE TO LOAD NET WT CORRECTLY BUT AM NOT ABLE TO LOAD GROSS WT.
ANY SUGGESTIONS AS TO WHY THIS IS HAPPENING AND PROVIDE ME WITH A SOLUTION.

Material master without valuation class
Hi,
Is it possible to have material master (of different material types) without valuation class?
Also, is it possible to have only one GL account getting reflected for all these materials when we do posting (at the time of Goods receipt) irrespective of material types ?

SidIt is useful in the sense that user do not have to manually do an Account Assignments.
For stock items, valuation class cannot be changed whenever the stock on hand is not zero.
Valuation class are tied to a G/L account.
A change of valuation class means a change of G/L account.
In FI concept, you have to debit and credit to balance the G/L account. That is why your stock must be zero before the system allows you to changed the valuation class. If it is not zero, you have to either transfer it to another material or do a dummy issues. After changing the valuation class, do a reversal entries for the stocks which you have transfer out or you have done a dummy issues -

Hi, I am looking to create material Master Data via ABAP. I currently have some code that creates the Master Data Characteristic value I want, but I need the text as well. Can someone tell me what I need to do to add the text for the Master Data Characteristic value?

do you need to add master data during load of transaction data in planning scenario? If yes, you can do this with a planning function of type exit in the INIT function module.
I think you've to use the table ETO_CHAS (table for char. combinations) and all kind of char. combinations has to be transfered.
