Is it possible to have 2 iCloud accounts on 1 iMac?

I share an iMac with my husband, and we each have iPhones and an iPad. We have individual iCloud accounts and I wish to now purchase more storage to back up our endless photos, but on my account. I can't seem to work out how to create 2 iCloud accounts on the iMac because he already has his set up as the default one on it.  If I go to sign out it starts asking about deleting content etc, is it not possible to simply add another account and then switch users within iCloud?  Or would I need to set up a new profile on the computer so we each have one, and then could I create a new iCloud account on that profile for me?  However, all my photos and documents are under his profile.  I'm confused!  Doesn't take much….. Thank you for any help you can give.

You must create separate user accounts on the computer. One for you and one for your husband. Each of you should use your individual Apple IDs and each account so you will each have completely separate iTunes Libraries. Note that in so doing one of you will not be able to use any purchased items bought using the other's Apple ID. These items will need to be re-purchased under you own Apple ID.
In order for this to work you each log onto the computer with your own user account. To make things easier you can enable Fast User Switching in order not to have to always log out and log in.
Using More than One iDevice on the Same Computer
This applies mainly to couples who are adding another device and do not want their email, messages, etc. being duplicated on both devices. To begin read: How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer. You need to establish a separate Apple ID and password for whomever will use the new iDevice. See Apple - My Apple ID and Frequently asked questions about Apple ID. The easiest way is to do this on the computer using iTunes: iTunes- How to set up an Apple ID within iTunes.
On the computer create a new user account for the person with the new iDevice. This will be the user account that person will always use. He/She will no longer use the other user account. This way that person will have a separate iTunes Library
Start by transferring the new device(s) to a new account along with all your data.  Save any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless they are already in the camera roll) by opening your Photos app, tap on Albums icon at the bottom. Now, tap on My Photo Stream album; tap Select; tap on the photos you want to select;, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow) in the lower left corner; then tap Save to Camera Roll.
If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep then you need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself. Later you can copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.
Tap on Settings > iCloud > Delete Account (only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; the person keeping the current account will not be affected,) provide the password to turn off Find My Phone and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted.  Sign in with a different Apple ID to create your new account. Choose Merge to upload your data.
Once you are on separate accounts, you can each go to icloud.com and delete the other person's data from your account.
Note: The essence of the above was created by user, randers4. I
have made substantial changes to improve readability and syntax.

  • Possible to have individual iCloud act's but share one for Find My iPhone?

I have yet to take the plunge (rocket) to iCloud -- too many questions and I haven't figured out all the logistics yet. But here's a big question I have.
I've seen a lot of threads with recommendations on how to set a family up - most of them involve each iPhone having their own iCloud ID and then sharing one iTunes account for shared music.
My question. Is it possible to have individual iCloud accounts set up on the individual phones BUT ALSO share an iCloud account for the purposes of Find My iPhone, so we can easily see our phones on one screen?
If so, how is that done?
    Thanks!

I don't know the answer to this 100%, but I would recommend downloading Apple's "Find My Friends" App because that will enable you to see all phones on one screen.

  • HT1353 Is it possible to have another iCloud login on my unit without me logging into that account?

Is it possible to have another iCloud login on my unit without me logging into that account?
I lost my iTouch4 last June10 after a party. I stayed in a hotel with my team that night when i lost it --- lost in the hotel not in the party. I just got my new iPhone 4S this June25. When i used Find my Phone app i saw that there are 2 devices: ipod (named after one of my teammates) and iPhone (under my name). whne i check the features of my iPhone, the contacts, calendar, bookmarks and apps i downloaded previously on iTunes are sync to what i entered on my iTouch. My teammate told me that he also noticed that on "his iPod" and he dont know why his apple ID was changed to mine.
Is it possible to get that situation? Or is that an evidence that he has my iPod touch 4?  I need help to clear things out. Thanks.

    - I do not understand what yo are seeing with the FIndMyiPod app. That app can set up to find any iOS device. you just have to enter the Apple ID and passwords used for that device.
    - on your computer go to iCloud, sign into your account and go to FindMyiPhone. What do you find?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
It's a little tricky to move data from one iCloud account to another but it can be done. But what makes you think you have 2 iCloud accounts.

  • My daughter and I have separate iCloud accounts set up on out desktop PCs and our iPhones and iPads. We want to share the usage of a Win 8 laptop and will log in using using separate user accounts. Is it possible to set up our own iCloud accounts?

My daughter and I have separate iCloud accounts set up on out desktop PCs and our iPhones and iPads. We want to share the usage of a Win 8 laptop and will log in using using separate user accounts. Is it possible to set up our own iCloud accounts in each of those separate user accounts?

No it is not possible.  Content purchased from the iTunes Store is permanently tied to the account from which it was originally purchased, and Apple does not provide a way to change it.

I have 2 iCloud accounts. 3 devices use one of them as a primary account; my iPhone uses the other as a primary account so I can't stream photos from iPhone etc. What to do?

Sorry, yes indeed you can do that, I thought you wanted to keep the accounts the way they are now and also share photo stream between all devices, which of course is not possible.
In order to login to the account you are currently logged in to as a secondary account, as a primary account, and vice versa, you will need to delete both accounts from that device and then log back into them with the correct account as a primary (settings > iCloud) and the correct account as a secondary (settings > mail, contacts, calendars).

  • Is it possible to make an iCloud account used by everyone in my school?

In my school we have iPads. Would it be possible to make an iCloud account used by everyone for contacts and calendars?

You do not give everyone the username and password of that account.  This would be a violation of iCloud terms and conditions.
I've done what you want done with a calendar.  You use the iCloud account yourself, then use the 'broadcast' facility to produce a subscription URL that everyone can put into their calendar software.  If you make the calendar public anyone can subscribe.  They don't even have to know the account name let alone the password.
Log into the account on www.icloud.com and test it out.
Once you have that working you might try the same thing with a contact list.  I see no reason it shouldn't work.

  • I have 2 iCloud accounts and would like to merge them

i have 2 iCloud accounts and would like to merge them together

I'm afraid this is not possible. Of course you can manually transfer data such as calendars and contacts from one account to another, but you can't move email addresses across (including aliases).
However you may be able to get what you want by signing the second account in at System Preferences (or Settings)>Mail, Contacts and Calendars so that the data from that account appears alongside the main account. This 'secondary' account cannot use Photo Stream or Find My iPhone/iPad.Mac.
If you have been using one account for iCloud and another for iTunes there is no conflict in doing this since they are not actually related. However you cannot merge iTunes account as purchases remain tied to the original account.

  • TS4020 Can we have two ICloud accounts on ipad

Does there need to be separate logins to the iPad? I want us bothe to be able to have out preferences and iCloud accounts on our iPad. Is that possible or do we need to just keep it to one?

You can't use iCloud to set up separate "user accounts" on your iPad like you can with a computer.  YOur iPad is designed for a single user.  You can have multiple iCloud accounts on it as discussed in the article you were reading, but this will not give you access to all iCloud services for two separate users.

  • TS4006 Can I erase the files off my stolen iPod if I don't have an iClouds account but i have my serial number and other information?

My iPodwas recently stolen and i would like to erase my files on it but I don't have an iCloud account. Is it still possible to erase my files and if so how I do this?

You can't erase your device unless you had set up iCloud and enabled Find My iPod on it before it was stolen.

  • Due to circumstances I have three iCloud accounts, How can I amalgamate them into one iCloud account?

Due to circumstances I have three iCloud accounts, How can I amalgamate them into one iCloud account?

No, unfortunately you cannot merge accounts or transfer any purchased content from one account to another. As I said Apple won't let you do that.

I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.
If you are wondering how using multiple Apple IDs relate to iCloud, see Apple IDs and iCloud.

I have an icloud account which I can access via the web but when I go to systems preferences and click on the icloud it sends me to the mobileme closed site?? How do I get it to go to my icloud log in?

You're saying that when you click on the  iCloud preference pane button it sends you to the defunct MMe
    rather than giving you this?
Is your profile up to date, i.e. are your running 10.7.5?  Make sure you click on the iCloud button and not the MMe button.

  • How can I sync the contacts in my phone with those on my MacBook Pro? I already have an iCloud account, and everything else (calendars, music, etc.I is already synched) but the contacts won't.

How can I sync the contacts in my phone with those on my MacBook Pro? I already have an iCloud account, and everything else (calendars, music, etc.I is already synched) but the contacts won't.

    Ok.
Open System Preferences, Apple Logo icon in the menu bar and then System Preferences or the Sys Pref iocon in the Dock and go to the Internet Accounts area and look at your iCloud account. It should list what is and isn't synced by a checkmark next to each item.
Also in the Contacts app click on Contacts in the menu bar and select Preferences then accounts and make sure your iCloud account is listed. You can also do that from the Internet Accounts area in System Preferences.
