I am about to get an ipad since I had to sell my mac. It is gonna be replacing my computer since I am not a student anymore and I do not need a computer anymore. However I was wondering where am I gonna store my iphone security copies now and I want to know if that is possible in my ipad's itunes... can someone please give me some info about it?

Is it possible to make a secure pdf unsecure using Adobe Acrobat Pro?
Basically, I am trying to add text using the Edit Document Text tool, but I cannot and I believe it is because it is secure.

Everything Dave Merchant has said is reasonable and I have nothing against protecting intellectual property or copyright. But I am not talking about unsecuring a pdf in order to
copy content. I am talking about adding an image filee to a pdf so that it can
contain my signature.
I do not doubt that the ingenuity of Adobe engineers cannot find a way to protect the contents of a document, prevent them from being copied, altered, etc., while still allowing a third party user to add a signature to that document. I cannot see how anybody is harmed by allowing a
signature on a document, and surely there can be a nuanced approach to
protecting intellectual property without banning all modifications to a document.
I am also discouraged in having discovered that Bluebeam Revu is also taking an approach similar to Adobe. With Revu v7, I was able to add my signature to secured documents. Now, with v11, which I just spent a lot of money on, I can do nothing but view a secured document. That’s another pdf company that is not taking a nuanced approach to pdf protection …

Is it possible to make a copy of the Leopard install DVD? If so, is there a special way this has to be done? I just found out that we needed to use the Leopard install DVD to recover a complete backup from Time Machine after a recent hard drive failure. We have the family pack of Leopard, so I would like to keep the original at home and send a copy when my daughter goes off to college in case she needs to recover again. Her machine was originally a Tiger MacBook, so those install disks will not work. If it is not possible to copy the DVD, is there a way to create a bootable utility to do a time machine recovery?

This half-solved my problem. I have had no problems creating a backup copy for my intel based computers, but non-intel based computers are problematic; a G5 powermac tower and a G4 Powerbook. Both with super drives for single density burning. Both have Leopard running, installed from an install disc purchased from Apple. However, neither will mount the copy, but intel based computers will. have burnt/burned with both toast 9 and Disc Utility. Discs won't mount and are "spit out" by the drive.

I'd like to clarify a little.
You <b>cannot </b>restore directly an Oracle backup from HPUX to Windows.
As it is a different OS it is called "Heterogeneus" system copy.
If you want to create a sand box, then ( not knwing your DB version ) you will have to export the data with R3load and import it on the new system.

If you are already on Oracle 10, perhaps you can take a look at the note <a href="http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1003028">1003028: Enhanced support for system copy in BR*Tools</a> as it explain a method to use transportable tablespaces for the heterogeneus system copy.

As you suspect, that file cannot affect your Mac, so you don't really need to worry about it. As for removing it, you could let Sophos delete it. The .MobileBackups folder is, indeed, for backups. If you use Time Machine, you will have one week's worth of backups kept there if you don't keep the backup drive connected constantly. That file would be deleted automatically tomorrow, since it would be more than one week old at that point, although it's possible that Sophos will interfere with that. (Sophos prevents any kind of access to what it deems to be a malicious file. That includes moving it to the trash, but I'm not sure what will happen if the OS tries to delete it outright.)
One note: since you have an Android phone, you should be aware that that is almost certainly how that file got on your machine. Your phone is probably infected. Malware is a serious epidemic on Android, so you should definitely be running some kind of anti-malware software on your Android phone.

You can use iCloud to share the Calendar, that way she will always be up to date on that particular section of your work calendar. If you want to use iCloud, I would recommend backing up so you have a safe copy of your data.

Is it possible to make two type of partitions onto an external drive?

I'm on an intel iMac using Tiger and I know to back up my hard drive I need to choose the GUID partition and Mac OS Extended (Journaled) in order to be able to boot from the partition.
So if I make 4 partitions is it possible to make 3 partitions GUID Mac Extended (Journaled) and then make 1 that is Apple Partition Map? I tried it and I couldn't figure it out using my Tiger Install disk and selecting Disk Utility option.
My sister is using a Powerbook PC G4 also using Tiger and I want to make a bootable copy for her as well but just wondering if this can be done?

Thanks, so if I format it all as APM I can either clone OSX 10.4.11 which I have on my internal now. If I do a backup of my intel and Powerbook PC both of those will already have Tiger on them so do I need to do another Tiger install on each of those partitions?
Also by doing it this way I can't boot from a parition onto my intel can I?
Guess I'll have to weigh whose system is more important or just back up her drive as GUID on my computer and she can restore from it if she has too but won't be able to boot from it.

My employer just gave me a new MBP 13" with Windows 7 on it. It has bootcamp running, but no option to boot in Mac OS. IT dept. said they deleted Mac OSX Lion due to security concerns (?). In any case, as I travel quite a bit and have and ipad and iphone, I would like to use Mac OSX for personal use and Windows 7 for work.
Is it possible to make a partition in Windows 7 and then place Mac OSX Lion on the partition so that I do not need to reinstall Windows? I know it would be possible to wipe the HDD and then add Mac OS, then bootcamp, then Windows 7, but adding again would get my IT dept involved which would put me back to square one.

Ok let me ask you IF the IT department of your workplace does NOT want OS X installed on "THEIR" (The Companies) computers because of what they think is some type of security issue why are you trying to go against their wishes and install OS X on a computer that is NOT owned by you.
That could cost you your job.
If you continue down this path you will screw up the Windows install and have to take the system back to the IT department to get it fixed. What do you think they will say at that point?
Do as you like but you would be better off just buying your own Mac computer if you are set on using OS X as your personal operating system.

A manual backup will help in your situation.
Make sure your new computer is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.

Is it possible to make a text box cycle through 3 or 4 separate pieces/groups of text, like a slide show does with photos? So that when I open my site a text area says "Statement 1", then 10 seconds later it changes to "Statement 2", then 10 seconds later it chagnes to "Statement 3", etc.
Its that possible with a text box? My desire is to have 3 or 4 testimonials that change every 10 seconds.

Right. Some plugins have zip file downloads while others are just copy & paste.
In DW, go to File > New > Blank page > JavaScript.
Copy & paste the Cycle plugin code into your new JS page.
SaveAs cycle.2.9.81.js in whichever site folder you normally keep scripts.
Link your HTML page to your new cycle script:
Insert > Script > Script (browse to folder containing your cycle script). Hit OK.
Don't forget to add a link to the jQuery core library, too. Plugins don't work without it.

I have a weird question - is it possible to make an online video (.MOV file) "un-downloadable"?
I work at a college and a professor wants to post some videos within the school's public site. But, because of his concern with copyright, he wants to make it so the videos are impossible to download to the viewers' local machines.
Is there any type of setting or code that can be put within the .MOV file that would allow this to happen?

Any browser viewed QuickTime file will be "cached" (stored on the viewing computer). This is how browser work (they keep a copy of every page element) to help speed up viewing.
QuickTime 7 (Mac and PC version) even allows the user to set the size of this cache so movies can be viewed while "off line".
True "streaming media" (served with special streaming server software) is not cached on the viewing machine so no local copy is made. Streaming Server (QTSS) is free software available from Apple.
What your school probably really wants is a way to prevent "copies" of your files being used. This is nearly impossible as anyone that views the file could use screen capture software to get a copy. Even the true streaming version.
I use Snapz Pro.
You could use some type of "log on" Web page to help limit the audience.
You could also use "skin track" movies which make screen capture a bit of a chore.

My example will open in QuickTime Player. Even Pro users are prevented from saving or editing the file because it is protected by an AppleScript droplet "Save As Un-Editable" and modified for Tiger and QT 7.
