Is it possible to place forward/back nav buttons in a timeline based gallery. Stand alone SWF needed.

I'm currently working on a gallery to be output as a stand-alone SWF file, and am doing it all on the timeline as I can't write actionscript for toffee
So far, I have the gallery created with alpha tweens fading between embedded images. These images are buttons, to which I have added URL links (my only foray into actionscript), which will send the user to a specific link related to the image being shown at the time. At the moment this is just a linear timeline that flows from start to finish and loops to the start again - as per most other simple timeline based animations.
I have now been asked if I can add two nav buttons (one each side of the frame) to allow the user to flip back and forth through the images. Is this possible on a timeline? And if so, how would it best be implimented? I just don't know if a button action can affect the flow of a timeline.
Ideally the gallery will auto flow, until either of the forward/back nav buttons are clicked.
Any help here would be really really appreciated.
Paul

Thanks for that Ned. I've had a quick look, and will research deeper later. Though being a complete and utter novice at actionscript, I am flummoxed by probably the simplest of stuff by your standards. For example, the scripts I saw briefly, using the searches you suggested appeared to not export a stand alone SWF file - with no XML files or image folders (I'm still to work out if is possible to do that for this particular use). Also, on all of the examples I saw, the buttons are embedded at the bottom of the pane, and I really need to put the buttons as plainly obvious clickable blobs on either side of the image area. This, again, I can easily do on a timeline (apart from actually making them work of course) but to do this with someone else's AS code, will need more time than I have to learn the relevent stuff.
Does it sound like I may have to just settle for a linear, non-interactive rotating gallery? - based on my knowledge limitations, as well as needing a stand alone SWF.
Paul.

I am using a brand new iPad Air and a MacBook Pro with Retina and  on the Computer using Adobe Digitial Edition there is no possibility to jump forward/back using the arrows in the menu. It is not possible to jump to a certain page as well. The overall speed is incredible slow to switch between pages.

Exact same problem here - Win 7, ADE V3.0.  -  pages wont turn unless I click on the symbol at the top RHS of screen for Full/Normal size screen after Page Up/down or a click on the contents page.
Hopefully a bug or something, and not a 'feature' :-)

  • I want to create an image gallery with forward back nav, master image with a click to pop out zoom

    Hi Musers,
I'm currently building a photography website and need some help building a specific type of gallery.
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Below is a description of the gallery I want to build:
On the gallery page the gallery appears as a single 'Master Image' with forward and back 'Navs.' and a 'Counter' underneath this single 'Master Image'. Lets say that there are 10 images in this gallery. When the viewer clicks on the forward 'Nav.' the 'Master Image' changes to the next image in the sequence of 10 and the 'Counter' below confirms this progression, in this example the 'Counter' changes from 1 of 10 to read 2 of 10, the 'Master Image' displayed is the second image in the sequence.
Simple so far.. This above I can do as this is just a basic gallery. What follows is what I cannot find a solution for.
I want the gallery viewer to be able to click on the 'Master Image' and launch an enlargement of that image overlaying the gallery page, very much like the way the 'Lightbox' widget displays an enlarged image. When the viewer clicks off the 'Ligtbox' or enlarged image it dissapears, reverting the page view back to the standard gallery view with 'Master Image', 'Navs.' and 'Counter'. I do not want the expanded / Enlarged 'Lightbox' image accompanied by a thumbnail gallery, 'Navs.' / Navigation arrows or a 'Counter'. What I want is to be able to launch an enlarged version of the 'Master Image' as an overlay on the gallery page, something like a pop out.
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Can anyone explain how I can do this? Is it possible?
The solution I want seems to be a highbrid between the standard gallery with navigation arrows kept but minus thumbnails and captions with some of the functionality of the lightbox gallery widget.
I very much appreciate any help anyone can give.
    Thank you

    Hi Harriet,
Thanks for the message. I'm sure as time goes on new features will be introduced but it's a bit of a shame that the widget library is a little basic, oh, and at times it's just that little bit buggy. So far I'm really impressed by Muse despite being ever so slightly disappointed by some of it's limitations. I'd like to see more image gallery options, the ability to set up a client login area or a client ftp within a site, I also tried embedding video but as I'm no programmer the result looked clumsy so some focus on this would be a help. Considering that a good number of people benefiting from a Muse site will be online retailers a zoom function should have been there from the start.
    Best regards

  • Left/Right(Forward/Back) navigation buttons NOT working (do NOT change color/activate) in FF 3.6.12

Since the most recent FF update to the 3.6.12, I find that the navigation arrows (top left) which normally show/allow you to go back or forward in your browsing, are NOT active and do NOT work. Using default theme. Normally, when there is a page to the left or right )forward/back) of the current one, these will turn blue to show where you can move to. Now the are blank/white and do nothing. Same issue with the reload and STOP icons. HP DV9500, Vista HPSP2 X32, Norton 360, Roboforms, Google Toolbar. cable connect, etc. I have tried restart, cache purge, cleaned out add-ons, reibstalled FF on top of current app., etc.
Any one have any ideas or suggestion? I's appreciate the help.

`The file mdentioned in this articled does NOT exist in my Firefox Profile folder and DISABLING all things Norton 360 including the Antiphishing has absolutely NO EFFECT on this issued. Nav arrors still in op, still get shut down hangs.
    Other suggestions?

  • Forward/back/refresh buttons on chromium

This is extremely trivial, but could someone help me replace the icons for the forward, back and refresh buttons in chromium? I am using the elementary Xfce icons and these look really ugly, like Internet Explorer circa 1995 or something. I would like to replace them with the ones from the chromium "classic" theme, i.e. simple arrows. But I don't want to turn on the rest of the chromium classic theme.
I can't find the relevant images among chromium's files. I am looking here in particular:
    /usr/lib/chromium/resources/inspector/Images
    But I don't see them...
    Thanks!

Actually, on second thought, I guess that would involve changing the icons in question (forward/back) for all other apps as well, and I don't really want to do that. So maybe I will just have to use a chromium theme instead...

  • Exist or can you add possibility to place menu bar(all buttons) on the right side of window?

Something like MS Windows menu bar which can be placed on each screen side. On 16:9 screen this will add more space for site and navigation still will be very easy. I wanted attach image with concept but it's not possible here :(.
I'm not sure if I'm writing in correct place but this support system isn't too user friendly :/

You could try using Firefox's Safe Mode to reset your toolbars. Not sure whether this is a toolbar problem, but it's probably worth a try.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, check this article on how to start Firefox in
[https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode] and use the dialog to reset toolbars.
    Any luck?

  • Where has the drop down button for page history gone from next to the Forward/Back page buttons?

in previous versions of Firefox(and most other Browsers) there is a drop down next to the back/forward page buttons, that shows the last 10 of so pages browsed in the current tab......
has this feature been removed from Firefox 4 and why, or is there a way to enable it?
Currently using Firefox 4 on a Macbook running OSX 10.5.8

You can get the drop down list by either control-clicking on the back/forward buttons, or holding down the left button until the list appears.
If you want the drop-down arrow you can add it with the Back/forward dropmarker add-on - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/backforward-dropmarker

  • Can Firefox provide an option to keep the refresh button next to the forward/back buttons?

When I first installed FF4 the refresh button was buried on the righthand side of the URL window. There were a number of complaints about that location.
Then the button got moved next to the forward/back buttons. This made me quite happy.
Today, I find it's again buried in the previous position.
Can I get it back to where it is more accessible?

    # Control-click on a toolbar and select Customize, this will open the customize toolbar window
    # With that window on display you can drag and drop the refresh button and place it where you want

  • The forward, back, refresh, and stop buttons are not working. Even after installing the latest version. Anyone else having this issue?

The forward, back, refresh, and stop buttons are not working. Even after installing the latest Firefox update. Also my home page stopped loading upon startup even tho I have it setup to do so. Anyone else experiencing these issues? This is my second request for help and of course, Firefox on-line support is always closed.

  • Side mouse buttons don't go forward/back in Firefox

This has been a long time issue that I kind of ignored by using Mouse Gestures add-on, but I'd like to resolve it if possible. In Opera my side buttons on the mouse go forward/backward just fine. They used to work in Firefox but haven't since Firefox 3 update. Here's the mouse section of my xorg.conf:
    Section "InputDevice"
    # generated from default
    Identifier "Mouse0"
    Driver "mouse"
    Option "Protocol" "auto"
    Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
    Option "Emulate3Buttons" "no"
    Option "ButtonMapping" "1 2 3 6 7"
    Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
    EndSection
Again, it works in Opera but not in FF (and I use and greatly prefer FF).
    TIA

    From the firefox wiki:
In Firefox 3 on Linux, the mouse button assignments for Back and Forward have changed. Previous versions of Firefox used buttons 6 and 7 for Back and Forward, respectively. Firefox 3 uses buttons 8 and 9. You can configure Firefox to use 6 and 7 by editing some hidden preferences.
    1. In the Location bar, type about:config, and press Enter.
    2. In the Filter: box, type mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.
    3. Double-click on mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.action, set the value to 2, and click OK.
    4. Double-click on mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.numlines, set the value to -1, and click OK.
    5. Double-click on mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.sysnumlines, which should set the value to false.
You can now close the about:config page.

  • Possible to resend/forward an iCal invite?

Is it possible to resend/forward an iCal invite or add another contact without the invite being sent to everyone previously copied? When adding invitees, the only two options I see are Revert and Send and I believe this sends the invite to the whole list again. I also need to resend to some of the previously copied participants as they accidentally deleted it on their PCs and can't get it back.
Does anyone have experience with this?

If you forward a message that has the attachment, the attachment should also be on the forwarded email.
If you want to create a new message instead of using the forward command, open the email with the attachment in a separate Mail window.  Create a new message.  Drag the attachment from the original email's window to the new email's window.
