Hi,
Publishing BW workbook in portal can be done in two ways.
1)Using RRMXP transaction

2)Using information broadcasting in portal and publishing into the KM folder
For information broadcasting - you have to install the precalculation server in the portal server.This is needed for precalculation of the workbook.After installing the precalculation server start the corresponding service.If you execute transaction "RSPRECADMIN" in BW, it shows the status of precalculation server, Whether it is running or not
After doing this. Assign the BEX role inthe portal to the user.Now from this screen you can broadcast the BW workbook
Also you can create an iview for the same.

Hi Deepu,
All the parameters in the SAP_BW system is correct and i have tested the ITS, WebAS and Connector tests also and everything is green. In the BI diagnostic tool everything was green however in the RSPOR_SETUP the Maintain User Assignment was getting failed, so i removed the UME Master System (Reference system) from the Portal as i'm using the SAP Logon Tickets both ways. So there is no need for the reference system. After that RSPOR_SETUP is okay and in the BI Diagnostic tool one is red (UME Master system).
One thing i have noticed in the RSPOR_SETUP now that it tells me in the second step:-
com.sap.ip.bi Java classes with different versions.
Different ABAP and Java Support packages
ABAP support package 12
Java Support package 11

BW Workbook into portal

Can we integrate BW workbook into portal using visual composer? Does any one have documents regarding this?

Hey Gopi,
Basically, just use the normal broadcasting functionality. What this does is it stores the excel workbook as a document in KM. WIthin the Portal, you can create an iView (right click on any folder under content administration and create a new iView). When it asks for the iView type, choose KM document iView. You have to specify the document path (ie /documents/Public%20Documents/Statistics%20Reports/ZSTATOLAP_Q001.xls
). This will now be an iView. Preview this iView and grab the URL. WIthin Visual Composer, you can use the HTML view UI Element and specify this URL in the input port and it will launch this workbook in a frame within VC.

Workbook into portal

hi all,
I want to integrate BW workbook into portal. I was able to do it by using transactional iview with application parameter as WBID. But this requires SAPGUI to be installed on the machine. Is there any other way in which i can do this?

I've done it by importing the BW role containing the workbook into the portal. you can then use the iview it has created.
Works pretty well.

Is it possible to have two Excel workbooks open at the same time but only have one show the Document Information Panel?

We are using SharePoint 2010 and Excel 2010. In SharePoint, we have created a custom content type that uses an Excel workbook template along with a Document Information Panel (DIP -- an InfoPath form) that always displays when a workbook of this custom
content type is opened. That's all working fine. However, if one of those Workbooks is open with the DIP displayed and the user opens another Excel workbook, a DIP displays for the 2nd workbook even if it's just a regular workbook,
i.e. not one of the custom content type. If the user closes one of the DIPs, both close. And if the user displays one of the DIPs again, both display.
Is there any way to separate out the DIP display for specific workbooks during the same Excel instance so that it shows in one but not in the other? Or is this just something we have to live with (and train our users on)?

Whether the DIP shows or not is a client side toggle, not something tied to an individual workbook. So if you are using the same client instance then the DIP will display or hide based on what you did in the other workbook. YOu might be able
to create a macro that would display or hide it, but that's a lot of work for little advantage. I would train the users and live with it.

Unable to import Excel workbooks into Power BI

I've enabled Power BI and am trying to add a couple of Excel workbooks but consistently keep getting the following message:

What is your file size? It might be too big, I believe there is a 10MB workbook size limit.

An iView with a workbook can be generated using the Portal Content Studio or Role Upload.
The iViews are of type SAP Transaction iView and have the code link com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.Transaction.
The most important properties are System, Transaction (TCODE) and ApplicationParameter.
·        The System property contains the alias on the BW system (see Creating BW Systems in the Portal).
·        The transaction code for every workbook is RRMXP.
·        The value WBID= is in the ApplicationParameter property.
You can determine the workbook ID with the BEx Analyzer:
                            a.      Open the desired workbook.
                            b.      In the BEx toolbar, choose ® OLAP Functions for Active Cells ® Properties. The Information tab page contains the Workbook ID (Server).
Note that with BW workbooks as an iView, the AutoStart property contains the value True (process first screen) and the GuiType property contains the value WinGui.

Data refresh in background for an Excel workbook published on a SharePoint 2013 site

Hi,
I've created a site to publish some Excel workbooks on a SharePoint 2013 farm with Excel Services.
I'd like to run in background the data refresh against the cube connected to Excel, so when the end user will open the workbook he already will see the updated data without any waiting times.
How can I solve this issue, please?
Keep attention: I don't talk about PowerPivot for SharePoint.

did you try to use the
unattended service account for authentication to external data, in order to refresh the excel data?

Publishing Excel WorkBook in SharePoint 2013

I have deployed Excel Services, SSRS and BI in SharePoint 2013. The Site BI has been identified as a Trusted location for Excel Services. When I publish a Excel workbook to a document library of the BI site, I get an error "Upload
failed Your Changes were saved but could not be uploaded because of an error. You may be able to upload this file using the server Web Page".. Before uploading the file, I have selected the whole sheet and in Formula Tab, selected define name, and
provided a name for the Sheet. I also have Office Web App servers deployed for the Farm.
Appreciate assistance to fix the problem. This is my first try to publish Excel Workbook using Excel services.

For your issue, please provide detail error message of ULS log to determine the exact cause of the error?
For SharePoint 2013, by default, ULS log is at
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS

Urgent:- BEx Analyzer Workbook as an iView in the Portal

Can somebody please tell is it possible to create BEx Analyzer Workbook as an iView in the Portal?
If it is possible, how to create the iView?

Hi Nikesh,
The question relates much more to analysing queries.
BEx Designer and WAD are for designing queries,output of which can be seen in BEx AnalyserWorkbook. These are used for analysing the data with some test data entered by user.
But if we want them to be seen as a portal iview report we need to use BEx WebApplication Designer iview as we generally user for WAD n BEx.
Use the Version of the BEx Appl as BW or BI and then give propeties like system name,BEx Query,Appl parameters.
We need to see tht these queries in the same compatible format as with portal.
Please note "BExquery" must be the one which generates your reports.
I am not sure whether i could answer you but hope my idea is clear.

Broadcasting a Excel Workbook with additional drilldowns

I am trying to broadcast a Bex Excel Workbook by drilling down on couple of characteristics. The Underlying workbook has already been set NOT to refer to the Queries Global Definition.
So my problem is that when I broadcast this workbook after drilling down on the additional characteristics, it does not send it in the way I wanted, but it sends the workbook with whatever has been defined in the Bex Query (which is with no additional drilldowns).
I would like to know if there is way to add more drilldowns in the workbook and then distribute that workbook to the end users.

No we don't want to save the workbook, becuase this is for the end user who wants to add a drilldown and then would like to send the output to his/her own email. Basically end user should be able to add drilldowns to the workbook in the way he wants and wants to schedule the workbook in background using Broadcasting.

I think you can use the web location URL of your target content to do so, you can find this URL in your content information page.
I guess you can try doing the following in workbook1 to link to A1 of Sheet1 in workbook2: ='http://ucm-path/instance/web-location-url/[workbook2.xls]Sheet1'!A1

Information Broadcasting Excel Workbooks with Local Formulas

We are attempting to use information broadcasting to send out reports that use the v7 BEX "convert to local formula" feature in order to reformat the reports. We can execute the reports, and even save them to a local client and review them later when disconnected from the server. However, if we use information broadcasting to send these Excel files out as attachments, the users are unable to see the data unless they connect and refresh, defeating our entire purpose of putting the data in excel.
Has anyone else attempted to Information Broadcast BEX Excel workbooks while using the Local Formula mode provided with v7? Were you successful?

Hi,
We can Embbed a Excel file to aworkbook.
In the Excel tab->Click Insert->The Object window will open->Select Create from File tab-> Select the check box Display as Icon->Click Browse and select the file you want to attach->The file will be shown on the worksheet as an icon.
However, I don't think we can embed an Excel workbook into a workbook. Could you please re-upload the picture? Thank you.
