There was no need to be rude it was a simple question not all apple users know most about apple products and the only way we learn about them is by these great communities and i have been told by quite a few people on here who have helped me, and god knows how many others, that we learn BY asking on this site so thats all i was doing and i will continue to do so and also by me asking questions here i have been able to help some people with apple queries but i would not have been able to do so without those others so if we annoy you by not knowing everything about apple then i suggest you leave this site. Oh and there are people who are on this site apple employees not just apple users.

The main error in this position is thinking ANY sized SSD can be "storage"
Any Macbook SSD should be idealized as a working platform computer system, containing all your applications, documents, and weekly-use necessary files; and all media files such as ‘big-data’ (music/PDF collections/video/pictures), unless directly needed in the near future, should be kept off the computer and on external storage USB or likewise bare hard drives.
You cant do what you want without removing the internal SSD
Officially, it is not possible for an end user to upgrade the storage in any Retina Display MacBook Pro model after purchase

  • Is it possible to replace my W520 screen with new IPS version?

My W520 laptop continues to give good reliable service. \
However I now look with envy the latest versions that use IPS screens. This is important to me as I am a pro photographer.
I would like to know if is possible to upgrade/replace my existing screen with the latest tech... namely the 3K (2880 x 1620), IPS LED Backlit Anti-Glare Display?
Is it possible for me to order the part and simply replace it together with the required drivers?
    Thanks

Someone used an LVDS to eDP adapter to get a newer eDP 1080p IPS panel working in a LVDS connected X220.
AFAIK, no one's done it for the W520. The extra hurdle is that the 3K resolution probably exceeds the bandwidth of LVDS. No guarantees either way.

  • Possible to replace this green screen without masking?

So here's what I'm working with:
What I ultimately need to do is replace that green screen with some video footage. But there are a few problems that make this not all that straight forward...
It starts off with nothing on top of it, but the photos are gradually placed around it (all while the camera is "swimming").
I'm tracking it in Mocha, no problem. And getting the corner pin data in there to properly place the footage is easy.
But what I'm having issue with is replacing that green screen footage so that the photos show up "on top" of the video. I've got the drop-in video on one layer, then the source footage on top of it and I key it out so the video shows up underneath it.
But if I just do a basic key on that top footage, I end up screwing it up because of all the tweaks I need to do to get a good key while keeping details like shadows.
So, is there a way to do it, without creating a precise mask around all the green? The mask would have to be generated in Mocha, I assume, since all these photos are being laid on top of it...meaning I'd need to track them as well.

This isn't the most meticulously-planned shot I've ever seen, sad to say.  For instance, one of those cards added to the shot actually has some green in it.
Think about trying to green screen Kermit The Frog.
To salvage it, I'd make a precision mask on a solid around the green card, motion track it into place for whatever kind of motion "swimming" describes, and use it as a track matte to fill up the green.  I'd use Rotobrush to create masks for the cards being placed in the shot.  I'd fake the shadows.
    No keys.

  • Possible to downgrade / replace T530 FHD screen?

Hi.  My 85 year old father (who lives in another state) recieved a T530 with an FHD screen.  The resolution is too high for him -- everything is too small.  He can't return the machine, and none of the usual fixes (changing DPI or lowering the resolution) work for him or all of the programs he uses.
I've spent way too much time discussing this with him, (family tech support!) so now I have one simple question:
Is it possible to replace the FHD screen with an HD screen?  Is it a straight swap?
    Thanks for any help --
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I don't think you need to lower the resolution (non native resolutions always look bad/weird), have you tried increasing the size of the desktop icons to "big" and the fonts to 150% or so?

I would like to inquire about how I could have my iPad 2 repaired or replaced. I bought it With a credit card via apple store website last June 19 of this year. At first, I already noticed a little white spot in the middle of the screen visible when the display on screen is dark. I thought this was okay. Now, My problem with it is that, it now has green discolorations at the center whenever the screen display is black or dark I.e. When a website's color is black or dark or whenever I go to the search interface.
    I am from the Philippines.
Please attend to this inquiry as promptly as possible. I'm sorry I have to send it here since I cannot see any email or inquiry page on the apple website. I also cannot reach the toll free number on my mobile phone.
    Thank you very much.

    Not by Apple.
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $99 for 16 GB 5G and $149 for the other 5Gs They do not fix yours.

  • How much to replace a cracked screen

How much to replace a cracked screen?

Apple at this time does not repair iPods, but will replace the entire iPod for a flat fee; see the Repair Pricing section here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/faq/
There are independent iPod repair services that may be able to replace the screen for less. Do a web search for "ipod repair". It is also possible to purchase parts and find instructions on doing a repair yourself, though it's not particularly easy. Note, though, that if you elect to have the iPod serviced by an unauthorized shop or perform a repair yourself, all further support from Apple will be void.
    Regards.

  • Can I replace my macbook screen with a better one in order to obtain more vivid colors?

I have a 13" macbook (aluminum), using leopard 10.6.7. I've noticed the colors are not very vivid and when side by side with my girlfriends compaq cq62, the difference is obvious. I've tried adjusting contrast and everything else, nothing works. I've read that apple uses cheap TN panels and that they are the culprit and nothing can be done.
My problem is that Im doing graphic design work and need accurate color representation. I love my mac and don't want to switch computers. Is it possible to replace the screen with a better one to get more vivid colors? If so, any idea how much it would cost and if the apple store genius guys (or whatever) do this sort of thing? Thanks.

    Thanks for your reply Bob
I've actually tried that already. And want to know something funny? When I did my own customized calibration, it turned out worse than the default!! LOL.
But the other profiles don't work either and the default seems to be the best. They don't help cuz they just change color tones and shades, but what Im needing is really bright, vivid colors. My comp next to my gf's, both showing the same picture of Bora Bora, looks dull in comparison. For example, hers has brighter greens and more shades of them and the vividness seems to give it more of a 3D depth, making it "pop" out more.
Plus when I use photoshop, the colors on the screen aren't exact; they vary from the actual color seen on printed paper. But not when I do the same thing on my gf's compaq, the colors are accurate. In my field this is very important. I can't design something and email it to someone, only to have the colors incorrect. And printing everything first ***** (don't have a good enough printer).
I've read that nothing can be "corrected" thru preferences and no software will help. It is the fault of the cheap panels apple uses. So thats why Im wondering if it is possible to replace the panel with a better one?
    thanks
    DJ

  • HT4061 I had read that Apple will replace a cracked screen on an iPad the first time for free. Does anyone know if this is true?

I have read that Apple will replace a cracked screen on an iPad the first time it is damaged for free. Does anyone know if this is true?

apple's official policy is: cracked screens = accidental damage
With iPad 1 and 2, accidental damage is not covered by any apple care and a replacement iPad starts at $249 and goes up depending on the model.
iPad3's were eligible for Apple Care + which offers two instances of accidental damage repair for $49 each time
The 'apple store replaced my cracked ipad for free' is largely an urban legend. It's possibly happened, but those that have been on the receiving end were people that happened to get a store manager that defied Apple's official policy. Not to say it hasn't potentially happened, but it's an exception not the rule. And if you happen to be lucky enough to experience it, that's just what it is, luck. Not something to be counted on or expected.

  • Is it possible to replace all assets in a project?

    Hi
I have just finished the first DVD of a series consisting of 26 menus (18 buttons each, except for the main menu which has 25 buttons), 75 playlists, 323 video files, 24 audio files, 33 timelines (up to 45 chapters each). In every case a video file corresponds to just one chapter. Total 3,4 Gb more or less.
I had a lot of problems (general error, out of memory, sorry an abnormal condition has occurred...) during the DVD build process, and I finally had to start from scratch and create new versions every few steps to get this thing to build. Took a long time as I had to save as, then build to see if it worked, then close the file, then reopen and start a new version, ended up with 27 versions.
I have to prepare the rest of the DVDs, which will have exactly the same structure, although some of the videos may be slightly different in length (just a few seconds difference).
Is it possible at all just to rename all the assets to avoid re authoring the whole thing, and then review only the timelines including the different lenghted videos?
    Thanks a lot

    Graciela Caro,
When faced with a similar Project (ended up being a set of 18 DVD-5's with the same structure), I built a test Project to work out the details and finally got everything as I wanted, then burned a DVD RW.
I took the "test" and built a "template" with all of my Bins/Folders, Menus (knowing that I'd change these, as each DVD would be similar, but unique) and Imported just the Assets that would be common, like the First Play and a lead-in to the Main Menu. This I Saved to a master folder. For each individual DVD, I opened that "template" Project and did a Save_As into the appropriate folder for that piece of the Project, i.e. Barry_DVDs_01. For each of these, I Imported the Assets unique to that phase of the overall Project. Then, it was just a matter of creating the individual Playlists, etc., and linking. I helped myself by doing a Flowchart in Illustrator. For each phase, I swapped out the Menus, and altered the Links to suit. This gave me the full schematic of each sub-Project. I used these for myself in the Linking process, and also used them for the client to sign off on. He knew exactly what was going to be on each DVD in the set, and how the navigation would work. In Illustrator, I kept things in their Layers, so it was easy to make changes for each sub-Project. Any changes after the Flowchart had been approved cost more $. The client knew this and could see exactly what was happening at every step.
Though it's some additional work, if you have the Project (your "test") finialized, and know that you'll be duplicating it many times, just with different Assets, I'd urge you to adopt something similar. It should not take long to re-create a blank Project with all of the common aspects in it. Use this as a "template," and do a Save_As of it, to begin each phase. It keeps the XML Links that have to be re-done to a minimum, 'cause you're starting with a semi-clean slate for each one.
As Jbowden points out, just replacing the Assets can lead to problems. I did not even want to go the Replace Assets command route, to keep the Project file from possibly getting corrupted by overwriting the Links, even using the correct, approved process.
Just make sure to place a copy of your "template" Project well away from the area that your working in on your I/O system. Make it Read Only, for safe-keeping, in case you forget to do the Save_As. I actually made two copies - one onto a DVD just for safety.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
