Is it possible to show the 'Quick Tools' toolbar in a browser?

I have Acrobat Pro X installed and I want to see the 'Quick Tools' toolbar in the browser but I can't figure out how to do this.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

You can't. Because editing a PDF in the browser window isn't a supported workflow, Acrobat X only ever displays a single-row toolbar that does not include the Quick Tools region (the entire Tools Pane is omitted).

  • Programatically add button/tool to the "Quick Tools" Toolbar (plug-in)

    Hi,
    I've been porting an old version of a plug-in we had built for Adobe Acrobat Standard/Pro and I'm having trouble finding a way to add an already created toolbar and button to the "Quick Tools" toolbar.
    I'm able to create a new toolbar and a button/label that appears under the "Tools --> *name of my toolbar*".
    It is possible, after the button exists to manually add it to the Quick Tools toolbar, through the Menu option "Edit the current toolset", selecting the tool item and adding it to the Quick Tools toolbar.
    I would like to automate this by doing it programatically, after adding the toolbar/button.
    Thanks,
    Bernardo

    Hi Ironsenth. Thank you for your reply.
    Is there any other way to place a plug-in button on a visible toolbar? Now the button appears in the (newly created) toolbar hidden under the Tools sidebar, on the right.
    I would like to ensure that by installing the plug-in the users would have a noticeable way to recognize that it is installed and working properly.
    Thank you,
    Bernardo

  • Any way to use a quick and dirty icon like cLabel in the quick tools toolbar?

    I am a javascript cut-and-paster with ability to cobble things together.
    In previous versions of Acrobat, I had tools that were added to the toolbar using the technique shown in this script:
    app.addToolButton({cName: "MyFlattenButton",
       cLabel: "Flatten",
       cEnable: "event.rc = (app.doc != null);",
       cExec: "flattenPages();"
    That would create a toolbar button with the "icon" that read "Flatten" which is all that I needed.  I could click on it and it would flatten all pages in the document.
    I used this to create several different tools, all with different names and cLabels.
    This script still works in Acrobat XI (it adds the tool to the add-on tools list, and then I can add it from there to the quick tools toolbar).  The cLabel names show up in the add-on tools list, but not in the quick tools toolbar.  In the toolbar they all use the same generic icon (but they all work correctly).
    From reading in this forum I see that there is a way to create a custom icon but it does not look easy.  Is there any simple way to just have text appear as the icon as I used to do for earlier versions of Acrobat?
    Thanks.

    One further question...
    I found a code snippet somewhere online that attempted to deal with this issue.  That led me to this (failed) solution:
    this.importIcon("myIconFlat", "/D/J/CAD Standards/Stamps/Acrobat tools/flatten.jpg", 0);
    var flatIcon = util.iconStreamFromIcon(this.getIcon("myIconFlat"));
    app.addToolButton({cName: "MyFlattenButton",
       cLabel: "Flatten",
       oIcon: flatIcon,
       cEnable: "event.rc = (app.doc != null);",
       cExec: "flattenPages();"
    The problem there is that importIcon is not allowed from a folder-level javascript, apparently.  Would there be any way to use the importIcon part of this from the console and then cut and paste some output into the rest of the script?  Just looking for a way to get the icon into my script.

  • How do I close just the top toolbar, the one with the create button and the Quick Tools?

    Just upgraded from 9 to X.
    The manual says, "When your work does not involve using the tools in a toolbar, you can close the toolbar to tidy up the work area." But then after that it only provides instructions on how to hide all toolbars. I want to have only one row of tool visible, not two, and I can work best with the Common Tools toolbar. So how do I close the other one?

    Would you please be more explicit? I have tried dragging the "Create" and "Customize Quick Tools" buttons from the top row to the second row and they don't drag. I've tried dragging the buttons on the second row into the top row and they don't drag. I've tried dragging the rows themselves into each other and outside the window to see if I could get one to diappear, and they don't drag. So would you please state specifically what is possible in order to reduce the two rows of the toolbar to one row?
    Especially if it's documented somewhere, that would be most helpful to see. But I'm also open to learning an undocumented method, if it works.
    Thank you.

  • Modify the Quick Tools bar in Reader XI

    I am an IT administrator looking to customize my deployment of Adobe Reader XI. Specifically, I need a toolbar button from the Comments pane (in this case, the Stamps button) to always display in the top, Quick Tools bar.
    First, before people say it, I understand that Reader does not have a GUI to add items to the Quick Tools bar. However, in Reader X, you could modify the registry and still be able to add items to the Quick Tools bar.
    In fact, Adobe has it documented! In their Enterprise Toolkit for Acrobat Products (ETK), they link to a Preference Reference page, which they describe with "Use this dictionary of 500+ registry and plist preferences to fine tune your product." Well, I am trying to use it, particularly the registry key under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\11.0\AVGeneral\ under cFavoritesCommandsDesktop. You can find the link for this here - http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/PrefRef/Windows/AVGeneral.html#idkeyname _1_4203 .
    Under supported version number, it clearly states that it works with 10.0 and later. Additionally, it shows both a Reader and Acrobat Pro icon.
    However, it does not work for Reader version 11.
    Despite Adobe's official IT Enterprise guide stating this, I'm thinking this is a typo and they in fact do not support this in version 11.
    I just need some verification:
    Is there a way to customize the top Quick Tools bar in Adobe Reader XI, or was this feature removed when Adobe went from version X to XI?
    To reiterate, I am aware that you can make this change in Acrobat Pro X as well as Acrobat Pro XI, and Arobat Pro X gave you a GUI interface to make those changes (in fact, the Preference Reference site I linked before mentioned that Pro has a GUI interface for this!), but Reader X still let you make this change by modifying the registry.
    Thanks in advance for any help in this.

    Another question I want to throw out there (since it seems very likely that there is not a way to change the Quick Tools bar in Reader XI) is:
    Can you change which "pane" is selected on the right side when Reader XI is launched?
    I'm not 100% sure if pane is the right term, but when you open Reader XI, Tools, Sign, and Comment are shown on the right side. Later, if you open a PDF, Extended is also shown. Right now, Tools is always open when you open a PDF, or open Reader XI. If I can't customize the Quick Tools, at least I should be able to tell Reader which right-side pane to default to when Reader is opened, shouldn't I?
    Again, searching the Preference Reference doesn't turn up anything definitive. A few entries looked slightly promising, bcommentPanelOnImport being one of them, but no matter the combination, Tools always defaults when Reader is opened.
    So, to get more specific,
    Can I have the Comment pane open by default when Reader XI is launched, as opposed to the Tools pane?
    Thanks again in advance.

  • Is it possible to show the count of number or rows in table on the Home page Tab button.

    Is it possible to show the count of number or rows in table on the Home page Tab button.
    On home page there is a Tab called Count and I want to show the count on the right corner of this tab button.
    Please help

    Create an application item. APP_HOME_COUNT.
    Create an application process:
      make the application process type "on new instance" if you only want this to run once
      make it "on load before header" if you want to have the value set every page load
    application process source:
    select count(*) into APP_HOME_COUNT from <your table>
    modify the tab name to reference the app item, maybe something like "Count(&APP_HOME_COUNT.)"
    result should look like this "Count(5)"
    Good Luck,

  • Is it possible to show the shell in linux from exec

    my app needs something to be installed on the client pc. It downloads the file and then install its automatically. For win this is working, fir the linux not, i can set the permissions, and when i try to launch it like
    String[] commands = {"/bin/sh","filename.bin"};
    Runtime.getRunTime().exec(commands);
    it starts, but it hangs. I think it's possible due to the fact that's there a license agreement in the bin file. when i true to install it manually, from the shell, it shows me the license agreement. i think that linux is waiting for input from the user and my prog hangs. so Is it possible to show the shell in linux from exec ??? so that the user can see the license agreement

    it is in fact the same as the bin file for installing
    java, when you extract that you see the license
    agreement and the user has to press enter to go on,
    that's the only input.
    You're right, i should read the out and err, i
    forgot, stupid of meYou have to send enter to the input stream of the process in that case.

  • Is it possible to show the comments from Excel spreedsheets in Numbers?

    Is it possible to show the comments from Excel spreedsheets in Numbers? And can I create comments in new Numbers spreedsheets like Excel?

    Yes.  You can open excel files with comments and add comments using the menu item "Insert > Comment":
    Numbers will export a file as excel using the menu item "File > Export > Excel...":
    But will not natively save excel files.  So if you will be regularly working with a file in both Numbers and Excel you should consider using only one of the programs as the only way to save a document in Numbers is as a Numbers document.  Said another way Number can only import and export Excel.

  • Is it possible to show the intraction id value in a slide?

    Hi,
    i made a slide in captivate and set scoring for it.
    Is it possible to show the interaction id value that assigned to the quiz ( i mean the score on the slid).
    Thanks

    Obtained score or maximum score? Are those question slides or just scored objects? A slide cannot be scored.
    Use system variables cpQuizInfoLastSlidePointScored or cpQuizInfoPointsPerQuestionSlide.

  • Can't Open File Explorer -- How can I reset the Quick Access Toolbar from outside of File Explorer?

    First of all, this is not a virus. This is my a bug within windows explorer itself.
    So, I added the properties button to the QAT, and it displayed it as an expandable menu, like this: ";" but with small arrows like this: ">". didn't want this, I wanted to click on it and immediately display the properties of the file
    to me. So, I hovered over it, right-clicked on "Properties" in this menu and added it to the QAT. Of course, this crashes File Explorer. Now whenever I try and open it, it crashes, so I have to assume that the corrupted button has been saved.
    So, my question is: How do I reset the QAT from OUTSIDE of file explorer? Regedit magic? Any ideas?
    Thanks for stopping by,
    Trolleyman.
    Edit: Just so you know, I can navigate through my systems files using the 7-zip file manager. Phew.

    Thanks from me  too, Niki. This first happened with Windows 8.0 File Manager a week ago,, and despite much research I couldn't  discover the cause so eventually I resorted to restoring  the system drive from backup (luckily I make daily backups,
    so didn't lose   much  work).
    Without  knowing the cause  a  few days later I again tried to alter  the Quick Access  Toolbar  and the problem reappeared.  Should  I again resort to restoring the entire system drive, the thought horrified me. But
    luckily while doing a bit more research prior to resorting to the same drastic recovery, I cane  across this post  of yours and it worked!
    It doesn't  seem  to be  happening with Office 2007's   or  Wordpad's  Quick Access Toolbar,  so presumably it's a File Explorer bug  (a.k.a. Windows Explorer in Windows 7, of course). Have Microsoft recorded this as
    a  bug -- if not,  why not  -- and when  are they coming up with a fix?

  • Is it possible to calibrate the ruler tool in centimeters?

    I need to show specific ratios on the image, e.g., this distance is to this as that is to that. A measuring tool that works in pixels is pretty cumbersome. IS it possible to re-calibrate the ruler tool to measure in millimeters, centimetres, etc.? Pixels don't really make it for me.  It seems like an obvious choice, but I can't figure out how to do it.

    Thanks, guys. You were right. And thanks for coming up with it fast.
