Is it possible to sync an iPhone to one mac for music only and another mac for everything else? What about shared iPhoto?

I'm trying to figure out the best way to manage my iphone and that of my wife.
Our set up is that we share music that is on my imac under my apple store id.  We also like to have all of our photos in iphoto on that imac.
She has her own macbook and I'd like to use icloud to sink her personal bookmarks, calendar and other stuff.
I've thought about seeing if I could set her phone up to sync with icloud as appropriate, turn on wireless sync on her imac for syncing everything but music, then sync that same iphone on the imact but just sync music.
I've tried to point her macbook to my imac itunes library and that doesn't seem to be working very well.
The other wrinkle is that she is taking photos on her iphone that I'd like to show up in our shared iphoto library and photo stream.  Currently we have our individual icloud apple ids so we may sync our own bookmarks and such and we use a separate "store" id for music and apps and such.  I'm not sure I see a way for me to merge iphotos into a shared library/stream?
1.  Any thoughts on the best way to manage two iphones, each with their own computer, but a shared music library?
2. Any thoughts on the best way to merge iphoto?
I've been experimenting with setups and I have a feeling folks with more experience have probably worked this out better than the way I'm thinking of doing.
Thanks.

  • Is it possible to sync your iphone to 2 pc's (work/home)and keep outlook calendar?

I had a iphone but returned it, but now I need confirmation that it is possible to have an iphone sync between to PCs (work / home).  I want to know if its possible to have it sync the phone with two computers.  Home has itunes for music and such, work doesn't have itunes on it - but I need to make sure that my calendar syncs between the two computers.
I am concerned that if I sync at home it will upload fine but then if I try to sync at work it will want to delete all my contact on my computer and replace with what's on the iphone?
So basically - is it possible to have your iphone sync with two seperate pc's?  I use outlook calendar and live my life with it - I must be able to use it on the iphone - can you?
Can you change the way names are stored in the contacts, I have businesses and personal contacts - I want to be able to look up a business not have to remember the name of the person who runs it?

You didn't say what contacts application you are syncing your iPhone with, but almost all give you a choice to list contacts by name or by business. That setting on the computer should transfer to the synced iPhone. Works with my Mac.

  • Is it possible to sync 2 iphones to one iPhoto?

    Hi
My wife and i have an iphone each
we have one laptop /mac pro and both take too many pics of our kids.
our issue is we both have iclud but want them both to sync to our iphoto together....
    is this possible?
    Thanks
    adrian

As Larry has already pointed out if both of you are logged in to the same iCloud account and have Photo Stream enabled on the phones and the library all pictures taken on either phone will automatically be imported into the library if iPhoto's preferences are set as follows:
However, both of you would be getting just the email for that one iCloud account and the contacts, bookmarks, etc. for that account.
If you want to upload your photos to the same library just launch that library and connect your iPhone to the Mac and have iPhoto import the photos into the library.  Both of you can do that and keep your own iCloud accounts.

  • Can I sync 2 iPhones on one Macbook?

    Hi
Can someone help? Is it possible to sync 2 iPhones on one MacBook... contacts on both phones are the most critical things that I need back up on the Macbook...

You can sync as many devices as you want to the same itunes account, there is no limit. You can have the same content on each device or different content, the choice is yours. Itunes will keep everything straight, by device, upon subsequent syncs. Regarding your contacts, you can have the same contacts on each device or a different set of contacts. If you want a different set of contacts, create groups in Address Book on your Mac, then select what groups/group you want on each device. Before you select syncing contacts in iTunes, make sure you have at least on entry in each group you create in Address Book, this will generate a merge or replace prompt when you do sync, with merge being the correct choice.

  • Is it possible to sync the iphone with my company's email server

Is it possible to sync the iphone with my company's email server (Novell Groupwise)? I have the option of getting a blackberry or iphone. I want the iphone, but I also want to be able to sync it with my work email since I am away from the office a lot. I know I need to contact the IT department, but I thought I would try here to see what experiences people had with this sistuation. Thanks.

Depends on what protocols they will allow (or can). If they open up POP or better yet IMAP access, then yes, sure. It is all about the protocols available to you (them). Though note, the iPhone checks on an interval where the Blackberry has emails pushed to it. So with iPhone, the min interval time is 15mins.

  • With iTunes 11, it is not possible to sync my iPhone, and my iPod with my computer

Whith the new iTunes 11, it is not possible to sync my iPhone and my iPod with my computer.
    1. the iPhone AND iPod are not detected by iTunes, they don't appear any more on iTunes. (for eg with iTunes 10, we see clearly that an iPod/iPhone is connected)
    2. There is no possibility (page, button, etc) to sync and to see what is on the iPhone/iPod
    Why?
How can i sync my iPhone and my iPod with iTunes 11?
How can i manage what is to sync between iTunes 11 and the iPhone/iPod?

  • How to sync two IPhone with one PC , but with different applications

How to sync two IPhone with one PC , but with different applications ?
We have two IPhones , but one PC , we want to sync separately , is that possible ?

Absolutely, connect each phone, select what content you want on each phone, then hit the sync button. iTunes will keep everything straight, by device, upon subsequent syncs, including separate backups.

  • Sync 2 iPhones to one calendar through MobileMe

Has anyone synced 2 iphones to one calendar through MobileMe? I want to have the ability to have my wife's iPhone synced with the same calendar. I would like the phones synced so If I make changes on my phones calendar, they will automatically update on her phone through MobileMe. Does anyone know if it is possible to do this?

    That is how mobileme works!
My wife has MacBook Pro and a 2G iPhone, I have a Mac Pro and 3G. Calendars on all four devices in sync usually within a minute or two, whichever one is being used to add the info. Same for addresses and bookmarks.

    Hey keiichi-san,
Yes, It is possible. You can merge contacts, calendars, and bookmarks between multiple computers.
When you sync the contacts and calendars to your iPhone from the new computer you'll see the option to Merge or Replace, just choose Merge.
These articles provide more information on syncing options:

  • HT1386 After I synced my iphone with itunes, all my contacts disappeared, and I cannot find them.  Need help!!

After I synced my iphone with itunes, all my contacts disappeared, and I cannot find them.

    You don't.
You synced your iPhone with iTunes for the first time after how long?
And this didn't happen by syncing only. This means you transferred the backup for another iPhone or you restored the iPhone with iTunes. It is not possible for everything to be lost by syncing alone. All iTunes content on your iPhone can be lost but not any photos in the Camera Roll and the same for contacts unless you synced contacts with an empty address book application on your computer.

You are talking about the menu bar of Itunes, right?
Yes. With iTunes open the menu bar is at the top of your screen.
where exactly is the Store/synck you iphone option?
After you authorize the computer connect your iPhone then follow the instructions here > iOS: How to transfer or sync content to your computer
When you are done transferring the data to the desktop, right or control click the iPhone under Devices left side of the iTunes window then click Back Up.
That way you will have a backup just in case you need to restore your iPhone.
