Is iWeb 09 any different than iWeb 08?

And if so, what are the major differences?
I'm using Dreamweaver CS4, but a web designer tells me that iWeb is just as good and a lot quicker.

Published page looks different than iweb page

Hello everyone,
I have a problem with one of the pages on my site. I placed shaded shapes behind text and although everything looks aligned in the iweb program, when I publish it one of the pages(adults) shows the text very misaligned.
What is bugging me is that it only happens on that page, no where else.
I have cleared the cache, re-made the page, as well as other options but cannot figure out why this is happening.Maybe someone here can help me out.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try adding the text to the shape itself. Ddouble click on the shape and start typing. You can then set the color and other font attributes. and removing it from the main text box, just leaving space so the shape will fit in. That probably is the quickest and easiest way to straighten out the issue.
You can also inset the shape into the text box at the location of the cursor by using the Insert->Shape menu option. Once the shape is inserted you can set its properties and add the text. It will then move with the text if you do any editing.

Is Acrobat in CS5 any different than CS4?

Just installed my CS5 upgrade. Acrobat comes on a separate disc, but appears to be the exact same program as in CS4 (same version number). Is there any reason to "upgrade"?

It is the same.
Acrobat has a different upgrade shcedule than many of the other applications in the Suite.
In the past they've done a .5 upgrade for the suites when the new version of Acrobat comes out.

Is iDVD '09 any different than iDVD '08?

Can anybody tell me if there is any difference between the two programs?
As far as I can tell, after the upgrade there are no new features and the '09
is the same version # as '08.
Am I missing something, or after spending more money, I am not better off
than last year?

No. The other iLife applications were updated, but iDVD wasn't changed in iLife 09.

Is iTunes for a Mac really any different than the Windows version?

My friend wants to know and I don't have a Mac computer. Is the Mac version faster? Easier to use? Does it have additional features?

Exactly the same feature-wise except the Mac version of iTunes can't import and convert WMA files.
And because Apple knows exactly what hardware goes into its machines, you're less likely to run into problems ripping and burning CDs on the Mac--at least, that's the impression I've gotten from reading the many threads in the Windows iTunes forum about burning problems.

How is a JQuery Vertical Accordian Different Than A Hide-Show Region

Hello Everyone.
I an using Apex 4.0.1. I recently learned how to create a JQuery vertical accordian. I'm using the sample accordian that Patrick Wolf recently created/posted. It uses a really nice "accordian template" that he put together. It's really quite useful when it comes to saving space and all on a page.
Then I began wondering: How is this accordian different than Apex's own builtin Hide-Show Region template?
And so, I created a sample page on my workspace in apex.oracle.com. I placed a JQuery vertical accordian that consists of 3 regions: 2 reports and a chart. I added a little bit of JQuery to Patrick's template that causes all 3 accordian slices to be closed as opposed to the default behavior of having one slice always open. I also added code that allows a user to re-size the entire accordian either vertically and/or horizontally.
I then created 3 additional regions that mimic the first 3 regions above. These I placed in "column 2" on the page. For each region I assigned the "Hide-Show" template.
As far as I can tell, both the accordian and the Hide-Show regions provide the same functionality.

The app has open authentication assigned, and so, no login credentials are needed. Please click the "Accordian" tab.
I realize that the accordian has more flexibilty in that one may add features like choosing to collapse/not collapse all slices and re-sizing, etc. I suppose one could do similarly for the Hide-Show regions using Javascript or JQuery but it would likely be an effort.
Admittedly, such added features are cool and all. Still, it's been my experience that in the majority of business-like production environments, such "cool" features are pretty much useless. For example, I do not see how re-sizing the accordian or Hide-Show regions has much purpose. In fact, such "cool" features often get in the way of the main goal of the application.
Of course, a JQuery accordian may also be created that expands/contracts slices "horizontally". I do not know of any way to do the same thing using Hide-Show regions. If someone does know how to do this, I (and likely others) would sure appreciate you sharing how.
So, then, with respect to basic functionality (saving page real estate by encapsulating several regions), how is a JQuery vertical accordian any different than Apex's own builtin "Hide-Show" region?

Yes. Now I do understand what it is you are doing in your accordian page. And also I want to thsnk you for providing the sample code on your page showing how to go about preserving the current state of the accordian when you navigate from/to the page.
You commented that this kind of state preservation is not available with the Hide/Show region. I'm thinking that you are correct, though I think I once saw something about doing this posted in this Forum. I'll search through and see if I can locate it.
In any case, have you (or anyone else reading this thread) any other differences between a JQuery vertical accordian and Apex's own Hide/Show region? Other than being able to apply Javascript to an accordian to do things like preserve it's state (like you did), what else may one do with an accordian that is not doable (or at least not easily doable) with a Hide/Show region?

The font of iweb is different when I open it in PC EXPLOER

The font of both English and Chinese in my iweb is different in PC from MAC.The font in MAC is Arail but in PC it displays STSong.What should I do ?HELP!

Another trick I have used is to make sure the text boxes I create are large enough to accommodate any slight changes in font size. In other words, give a little wiggle room between the text and box.
While the suggestions mentioned previously work, realize that with every text box graphic you create you will enlarge the size of your page and cause it to load slower. If you stick with the basic fonts (Times Roman, Arial, Verdana) and basic text boxes with no drop shadows or picture frames your pages will load faster.

I'm looking for a website program for the Mac that is as easy as iWeb but can build sites more like dreamweaver. I don't like iWeb because it's too private, family, media, mac like. Are there any programs for the Mac other than iWeb that are like this? (Without the confusing HTML).

If I have two email accounts, one personal hotmail account and one MS Exchange work account on my iPhone 4s, How can I setup individual notifications for each account? Fore example, if I get a work email, I want to hear a DING, DING....If I get a personal email, I want to hear a BEEP, BEEP. Right now, any email from any account has the same notification. I want work incoming email notification to be different than personal incoming notification. The only semi-workaround I've seen is just disable any notification for the Hotmail account, so only work emails would notify. But then I don't know when I get a personal email. Even the lowely Blackberry Torch 9800 has this feature..not iPhone 4s??

So how did you do it?
by understand what iweb widgets do, in this case setting gridEntry widget's scalMode preference from fill to fit.
then reset the displayed image, so it fits in the display area even if it's portrait aspect.
however, i found some glitches in gridEntry widget that's quite strange... but all fix-able.
perhaps, iweb experts (whose had poked at my example) here can chime in.

iWeb cannot import published files so you would need rebuild the site.
Yahoo hosting is notoriously poor and their tech support is awful. I would suggest you look for new hosting and start afresh. Some pointers for choosing hosting...

If you do choose to go this route, transfer your domain name registration away from Yahoo to your new host.

Using iweb on more than one computer

If I am publishing to a folder, can that folder be on mobileme, allowing me to edit and upload (to godaddy that is hosting my site) from any computer with iweb on it?

Joe ~ It's not the published folder you need to put on MobileMe, but the Domain file — as only it can be edited in iWeb. Here's a diagram showing where the Domain file usually resides:

Just to add this : iWeb -- the app itself -- is still supported,updated only months ago and as part of the ilife '11 DVDs still widely spread even though it is not sold on the AppStore it is official part of iLife. It runs in Lion and there is zero issues with the app. So a training makes sense, doesn't it ?.
They would only to exclude the "publish to me.com" part to be up to date for courses and trainings :-≠

It sounds like the person who installed the hardware didn't install the software properly for you. You should reinstall this to get full functionality and control yourself.
The process is easy:
) With the computer on, close all programs that are running and put the Creative CD-ROM into your computer's CD or DVD dri've. There are probably several disks; the one that you want should say 'Intallation and Applications CD' on the label.
2) The Setup program should start automatically in a few moments, but if nothing happens, click your Start menu and choose Run..., then click the Browse button. From the 'Look In' drop-down menu, choose your CD/DVD dri've. In the list of files that appears, choose the one called Setup or Setup.exe.
3) The Setup program will let you choose what to install. Choose to install everything. There might be two separate Setup processes that start after this: one for the soundcard's drivers, and one for the Creative MediaSource software. Within each process, when you are given the choice of Full, Custom, or Basic, select Full in each case. Follow the instructions in the programs and they will guide you through the setup process.
IMPORTANT: you will likely be given the option to use digital output only to your speakers. Only select this if you have digital speakers, attached to the sondcard through only one digital cable. If your speakers are attached using several cables, you should use analog output.
4) Once all of the Setup programs are completed, they will probably have you restart your computer.
All of the above should have been done when the card was first installed, but it seems that whoever you paid to do the installation didn't bother with the software install.
After this is all done, you should be able to use all of your speakers. If you are still having trouble, you will be able to follow the instructions that you were given before on how to enable CMSS.
