Is Lightroom able to accept and edit Nikon D4s RAW images?

A professional photographer from a nearby town said he heard Lightroom either did not or had difficulty working with Nikon D4s RAW images. I want to find out if this true or not.

Might have been true around the time the camera was launched but it usually only takes Adobe a few weeks to issue updates for new camera models.
As Bob says, the D4S has definitely been supported for a while now.

No. Lightroom 4.x will never be able to open Raw files from the D810.
D810 support has only just been added to the RC version of Camera Raw 8.6. It is never retrospectively added into older versions.

Adobe will probably add D810 support to the next version of Lightroom.
Either way you'll have to upgrade to Lightroom 5 to be able to open D810 Raw files in Lightroom.

  • Photoshop C5 Raw: how to edit Nikon D4s Raw files in CS5?

Please help me update my Photoshop C5 so I may view my RAW files taken by my new Nikon D4s camera.  I'm not able to find location to update.

I assume you mean Photoshop CS5?

The D4s was first supported in Camera Raw 8.4 which is only compatible with CS6 and later versions.
So there is no update available to open D4s Raw files in CS5.
Why doesn’t my version of Photoshop or Lightroom support my camera?

Yes, as long as you save them in .doc format.

when will lightroom support tethered shooting with the NIKON D4S?

Okay so I should be asking Adobe direct, thanks.
I did find that Nikon released the developer software for the D4S back in february so just could'nt uderstand the delay especially as adobe never seems to be late taking my money each month.

  • I have lightroom 4 and it doesn't work with d4s raw images? what can I do?

i have lightroom 4 and it doesn't work with d4s raw images? what can I do?

That model begin to be supported only in the very latest version of Lightroom, version 5.4. You will either need to upgrade Lightroom, or else use the latest version of the free Adobe DNG converter (version 8.4) to create digital negative copies of your raw images. Then you can import those DNG files into the Lightroom that you have now. The choice is yours.

  • Has anyone had trouble manipulating Nikon D750 raw image (NEF) in Aperture version 3.6 on Yosemite?

Has anyone had trouble manipulating Nikon D750 raw image (NEF) in Aperture (version 3.6 500021000000000.3, Digital Camera RAW 6.0 - Build 761.5, Digital Camera RAW support 6000 - Build 136.1)
I used to be able to manipuplate Nikon Raw (NEF) images from a Nikon D70 and D3200 using Aperture, until the 70 died and the 3200 was stolen about 18 months ago. Recently I did two things: (1) I upgraded OS X to Yosemite and (2) purchased a Nikon D750.  I have successfully imported NEF files from the camera to Aperture, but the images do not render/ cannot be opened/ manipulated. Instead, I see a black thumbnail for each imported image with a cassette recorder play icon in the center of each image.
I can view the NEF image in Finder preview mode, either directly when viewing the images on the camera SD card or after exporting the previously imported NEF image from Aperture to my desktop or user folder.  Previously imported NEF image seem unaffected.
    thanks.
    D.

The current Apple OSX 10.10 Yosemite and the current Aperture version 3.6 do not have support yet for importing Nikon d750 nef/raw files. It usually takes Apple six to eight weeks to release a new digital camera raw update file for new Nikon dslr models. Once that digital camera raw update file is finally released, update your current version of Aperture and that will allow you to import your d750 raw files. In the meantime, you have many workarounds. In my opinion, the easiest is to save images in duplicate nef/raw and jpeg image files to your SD cards.
And for now, just import the jpegs to Aperture 3.6 from your d750.  Process your jpegs in Aperture - and hope your clients are happy with the jpegs and can wait for later nef/raw image processing. Be sure to save and do not erase your original SD cards that include the nef/raw and jpeg files - then when Aperture finally releases a new digital camera raw file update that includes the d750 - just insert your original camera SD cards into the computer platform and import the old d750 nef/raw files and edit/process them.
There are many other ways to proceed in the interim as well. You can always import your d750 nef/raw images into Lightroom (if it has been updated to convert the d750 nef files) and process them there. But for the time being, if you can afford to save and hold onto your original SD cards and wait for the inevitable Aperture digital camera raw update, this is a very easy and simple way to proceed.

  • NIKON D7100 RAW Images

Is there a support of NIKON D7100 raw images available? I bought Elements and like the software, but it does not read the files of D7100. The files of my older D90 it reads. So I have great pics with my D7100, but no chance to edit it in a way which is acceptable

@99jon, thx for your answer, I was afraid to hear this . Your suggested solution I was aware of. Unfortunately there are some destructive things going on with this solution (Camera settings, ...). And patience is one of my attributes I miss
Thx again for your effort to answer my question.....

  • I cannot open Nikon D800 RAW image files in lightoom 2

I cannot open Nikon D800 RAW image files in lightoom 2.  My raw files will not import into lightroom (it imports jpegs, but not the RAW files) I am using Lightroom 2, version 2.7, camera Raw 5.7. Can you help?

I would highly recommend upgrading to Lightroom 4 as the processing engine is a quantum leap ahead from Lr 2 just as your camera is a leap ahead!!
p.s.  you can upgrade directly fro 2 to 4.

  • When will we be able to open and edit PDF documents in Indesign?

    Hi
It would be nice if Indesign could open PDF files.
When will this happen (without a plugin)?
Today I need to open the files in Illustrator. The customer prefers to use Indesign, so even though Indesign can export pdf documents I will have to tell the customer and the program can not open pdf files. This I find really weird.
Hopefully opening and editing pdf files in Indesign will happen real soon.
    Have a great day!

Paal, I'm sorry for that little out-lash. There is nothing wrong with inquiring the feasability of a new feature. The problem is that PDF has been an "output intended format" from the very beginning.
An Illustrator file (from a fairly modern version) also is a PDF file, for all intents and purposes. You can rename an .AI file to .PDF and use it anywhere, with any software that supports PDF (so that's excepting Apple's Preview, probably ;-) ). Moreover, you can still open and edit this PDF with Illustrator and get all of your objects, symbols, layers, paragraph styles, and guides back!
That's because in fact this file *contains* all this extra information in a data block marked "For Private Use Only". Other software, if adhering to Adobe's PDF specs, will simply ignore this (and thus my little jab at Apple's Preview). Does that mean you can edit such a PDF with *any* software? No -- the Illustrator data is "proprietary", and the details are not published to use by other software developers. Similarly, one could envisage InDesign to do the same. Yes, it would lead to *huge* files -- but hey, you would be able to open THAT file into InDesign and edit it. But not with any other software!
The meta-problem is that an extremely large amount of this private data would be *extremely* dependant on the software that was used to create it with. What would an Illustrator file do with InDesign's GREP styles? What would InDesign do with Illlustrator's brush styles, or symbols? Illustrator allows slanted guides, InDesign does not.
And let's not focus purely on a combo of ID and Illy; Photoshop *also* outputs PDFs, and its graphic data has yet another set of requirements.
So all of Adobe's software would need to be able to parse *every others' data* to some degree. Well, it's still not "unconceivable" as all of this would need to be done in one office (note that in that single office there are still vast differences in something as straightforward as a User Interface across the CS suite). But there are lots of other software developers out there, and they *all* want to write out PDFs, all with their own internal data! (Think of the different requirements between an architectural app and one for graph plotting.)
A *possible* solution would be to add "more" metadata to a PDF without crossing into the realm of "every single bit". Article tagging is an example of this -- it tells software that wants to know in which order *plain text* is to appear, and as such it serves as meta-data for plain text content. But the mind reels thinking of what more to add -- a list of used GREP styles per paragraph would probably be useless to anyone else.
But such an idea will not solve the problem, as 1. this meta-data is optional (lazy programmers would be allowed to say "nothing to see here, move along"), and 2. this data would only get added to *newly created* files, and it would not retroactively make older PDFs editable ...
(Now that's just the *short* version :-) h

  • Nikon D300 Raw Images and Lightroom 1.4.1

My updated 1.4.1 Lightroom and 4.4.1 Camera Raw are not reading the raw images from my new Nikon D300. I have read several strings of conversation from other folks who are having this problem, and from what I am reading, my 1.4.1 Lightroom should be recognizing them, but it's not. Any help would be MOST appreciated.

  • Project Server 2013: Timesheet Managers are able to view and edit all resources' timesheets

Regarding the Timesheet Managers list, per this
Office Blog post: "This feature is designed to support scenarios where the regular timesheet approver may be out of the office or any other scenario where a user must submit their timesheet to a different approver each period."
In Project 2013, a resource must be added to the Timesheet Managers list in order to be able to approve timesheets.  With that, is there a way to restrict the resources in the Timesheet Managers list from viewing and editing timesheets where they are
not the resource's designated timesheet approver?

    Hi,
As far as I know, the users that are in the timesheet manager list will not see all the timesheets but only the ones they have been designated as approvers. Did you experienced a different behavior? Can you detail it?
    Here is an excellent
blog post which explains in detail how does this feature works.
    Hope this helps,

  • Lighthouse 3.6 and Nikon D3200 raw images

I have Lighthouse 3.6.  What do I need to do in order to read/edit Nikon D3200 camera's raw image?

My mistake.  Sorry!  Support for your camera was not added until the 7.1 release.  It is still a release candidate, and you need to download it from the Adobe Labs web site.  The DNG converter is packaged with ACR in the release candidate package, and you will not be able to use ACR 7.1 with your older version of Photoshop.  But the DNG converter will work.

  • Does adobe lightroom open nikon d7100 raw images?

Does anyone know if any lightroom products can open nikon d7100 raw/nef images?

Perhaps your confusion stems from the fact that there are a couple of different lists maintained by Adobe which need to be cross-checked against each other.
    List 1
    Starting at http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
the Nikon D7100 has been supported since Camera Raw 7.4 and Lightroom 4.4.
So Lightroom 4.4 and later versions support it.
    List 2
However, according to this list http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) 7.4 is only compatible with CS6 and later.
So CS5 is only compatible with Camera Raw up to version 6.7: therefore CS5 will never be able to open D7100 Raw files. You'd have to use the DNG converter first then use CS5.
    So your choices:
    Buy Lightroom 5
    Upgrade CS5 to CS6
Join the Cloud or the Photoshop Photography Program
Or stay with CS5. Convert the D7100 Raw files to DNGs using the free DNG converter. Then open the DNGs in CS5.
