Is operating unit mandatory for creating an inventory org?

hi folks,
on the Define Organization form within Inventory > Setup > Organizations, when we start creating an organization and designate it to be of classification Inventory, on the subsequent Accounting Information form, is it imperative to provide an Operating Unit value?
the field itself is not required, but since time immemorial, i have always seen it being populated. now, i am being asked a question as to whether this is required, more so since the form field does not force you to fill it.
what are the benefits and / or shortcomings of either associating or not associating an Operating Unit to an Inventory Organization?

In that case why Oracle has not made that field(Operating Unit) as Mandatory as this is the only way that identifies to which OU that Inv org is attached.

Upon reading the package it's pretty confusing. Anyway, there is a parameter called P_SECURITY_ID_INT_1 which is the operating unit. I'm trying to display the operation unit in my report but it only returns the operating unit id and I need the name of the operationg unit. So I'm guessing im going to need to grab it somehow in the XLA_JELINES_RPT_PKG. Is this correct? Any suggestions on the best approach?

    after time elavualtion use t code PT66,  in this t.code double click on the each month(period) then you can get the internal table like ZES, SALDO, ZKO. again double click on the each internal table, you can get the information through the time types.  Like , now you want the overtime hours, 0903, 0904 with this time types you can get the each employee no. of. overtime hours.
    ZL, ZES, SALDO, TIP entries are internal table , you could not get any results from this table with using se11, se16.
    With PT_BAL00 with this report also we can get the overtime hours with the help of time events.

    Created a new Inventory Org..Now i am trying to create a PO in this inventory Org...i am trying to put the ship to field to the new org...but the new inventory org is not in the list of values
    Does the invnentory org need to be configured to be able to have the ship-to use the new inventory org

    Go to Master Item Form query the Item. Navigate to Organization Assignment widow and Check mark the new org you have defined. Hope it will solve your issue.

  • Partner function should be  mandatory  for a perticular sales org

    We have a requirement to make Sales representative assignment to the sold-to-party  mandatory , during order creation ( for a particular sale org)  . We  have to generate incompletion log for all the orders where this partner function is missing in the header data . Please throw some light on how to do this.

    I don't think it is possible sales organisation wise
    But you can have this requirement sales document type wise or item category wise or Customer account group wise through maintaining the check mark for sales employee partner function in the Mandatory check box at partner functions in procedure step in the partner dtermination.
    Because partner functions maintained in the prtner procedure that procedure will assigned at these levels.
    Customer Master
    Sales Document Header
    Sales Document Item
    Delivery
    Shipment
    Billing Header
    Billing Item
    You can do like this
    You define different customer account group for that sales organisation
    Define new Partner determination procedure through copying existing standard one
    You activate mandatory check for sales employee partner function in that new prtner determination procedure.
    You assign this new procedure to the account group which is sales organisation specific.
    Now you create customer master data with that account group in that specific sales org now system will give the error message if don't maintain the sales employee in that customer master data>sales area data>partner functions tab.
    Before going to create customer master you create Sales employee master throuh VPE1 transaction.

    Use this user exit to integrate your own check in a program, that runs before the partner is saved in the document.
    For more detailed information, see the program documentation for each ofthe user exits.

  • Making Settlement rule mandatory for creating any WBS element

    This we want only for WBS elements where Investment rule is not assigned.

    Hi,
       The only way it seems possible is using exists in validations.
    if not try to check the status of the wbs element in a validation. function module is STATUS_CHECK. and i think the system might set a special status, if a settlement rule has been maintained for a wbs element.

  • Can the inventory orgs of OU2 be used in the OU1 in teh ASCP plan...

    I defined an ASCP plan in one of the operating units OU1 and i have used all the inventory organizations for that ASCP plan which is definde in the OU1.
    There is an aonther Operating Unit OU2 where in some inventory orgs cater products to OU1.............
    Can i use the inventory organization of the OU2 to be used in the ASCP plan that i have defined in the OU1
    Please help me in clarifying this doubt at the earliest

    ASCP does not care about OU's. It only looks at inventory organizations.
    enable the org for collections in the ASCP instances form and set org access for the responsibility used in the organization security form (Adv Planning Administrator)

  • Changing Operating Unit for Inventory Organization

    We have Inventory Organizations already LIVE in Oracle EBS 12.1.3. These are assigned to an Operating Unit. We need to change operating Unit for an Inventory Org. Is it possible to just assign new Operating Unit for an existing Inventory Org? or do we need to define new Inventory Org and then assign the new Inventory org to the new Operating Unit?     The profile option MFG_ORGANIZATION_ID is used by forms that are inventory organization dependent, for example, View Material Transactions form. It is set by calling the function fnd_org.choose_org. It will open a list of values where you will be able to choose one inventory organization enabled to the responsibility you are currently using.
    By default this profile option cannot be set at any level (site, responsibility, user…). I tried to enable it to be set at responsibility level. However, after having done that, nobody was able to enter Oracle e-Business.
    Do you intend to restrict access to one inventory organization or just define a default inventory organization? If you intend to restrict access, you can use Organization Access (Inv Super User: Setup: Organization: Organization Access). There, you define the inventory organizations that are enable to each one of your responsibilities.
    If you have no lines in that form, all organizations are available to all responsibilities. If you add just one line, access is denied to all responsibilities and organizations not listed. So, be careful in setting this up.

    First I have create Business group, Operating unit, inventory organization
    Then I create the accounting setup and compete it
    Went to operating unit tab of the accounting setup and complete it also
    After that I try to configure the oracle payable
    In the payable option when I try to select inventory organization , the inventory organization is not there
    Then I check it in the global HRMS manger, in that the operating unit I already created are not appearing
    What is the error I have done
    Why the operating units and inventory organization deleted form the system

  • Use ar_receipt_api_pub create_cash API across multiple oper units

    Hi,
    I have a requirement to create AR receipts across multiple operating units and I am using the AR_RECEIPT_API_PUB's create_cash() to do that. The APIs work fine and I can create receipt in oper unit A. But when I changed to a different operating unit B and call the API, it terminated with NO_DATA_FOUND error.
    If I run my same code with operating unit B and then oper unit A, it created receipts in oper unit B but returned NO_DATA_FOUND in oper unit A. That way I confirmed there is no set-up issues with both oper units.
    I tried following 4 different ways to switch to different operating unit but all resulted in NO_DATA_FOUND:
    1) mo_global.init('AR');
    2) mo_global.init('AR'); fnd_client_info.set_org_context(&org_id>);
    3) mo_global.init('AR'); mo_global.set_policy_context('M', &org_id) ;
    4) mo_global.init('AR'); mo_global.set_policy_context('S', &org_id) ; (My EBS set-up has multi oper units, but I tried 'S' flag because of lack of ideas)

    Did you find any solution for this problem? We are facing this problem on R12 while creating AR receipts across multiple operating units. We will be glad if you share the solution. We have tried all possible ways; but did not help. When we look at the mo_glob_org_access_tmp ; we have access to all organizations; but the api returns 'no data found'

    Please i ve a great doubt, please advice which is right approach....
    Using General Ledger -Accounting Setup manager under Primary ledger there is a option to create new Operating unit by attaching LE and BG.
    If i do so i get new OU and my other sub modules in Financials(AP,AR,CM.FA) are operational ...
    using HRMS - organization i can designate any Company organization as Operating unit,so that New operating unit would be created this way also.
    Kindly advice which is the best way to create new Operating Unit...
    and also in Projects implementation setup ...starting organization LOV represent OU from HRMS or org Hierarchy...

    I create 3 OUs this using GL > Accounting Setup Manager ... under the primary Ledger (by attaching LE and BG).....but I am not able to find/search that in HR under Work structures > Organization > Description. Although it is available in the LOV while defining the profile option "MO: Operating Unit" ....and it is present in the Database table '*hr_all_organization_units*' too with the 'Type' column as empty (ideally it should be 'OU').
    It makes me feel that in any case I would have to create the OU in HR as a mandatory setup!....am I correct?

  • Drop Ship across OUs - Operating Unit not available during Requisition Import

    I am trying to execute Drop Shipment across OUs on Vision Instance R12.1.1.
    1)      Responsibility - Order Management Super User, Vision Operations (USA)
             Create SO in Vision Operations. In Others tab selected Warehouse as D1 ( Singapore Distribution Centre ). Line Item Source Type is External.
             Order Booked. Order line status is 'Awaiting Receipt'.
    2)      Responsibility - Purchasing Super User.
             Request - Requisition Import.
             Issue - The Operating Unit LOV for Requisition Import is listing only 'Vision Operation'. The OU 'Singapore Distribution Centre' is not listed.
    The responsibility Purchasing Super User has access to Org D1.
    Please refer to attached screenshots for details.
    Kindly help me with this process.

Also, I am wondering why is there a need for Intercompany AR invoice when the AR invoice is issued against the Drop SO?

    I have in processing of defining a new inventory organization. While selecting the accounting options, I am not able to find my operating unit in LOV.

    You will get the values in operating unit field of Accountign information/ inv org definition only when there is a operating unit classification already defined that is assinged to same primary ledger which you are trying to use for your inventory org.
    in your case, it looks like operating unit org classifcation that is using the same primary ledger that your are trying to asisign to your new inv org is not already defined. hence you are not gettign values in the LOV.
    You can try defining this Operating unit classification with the same primary ledger first and then go ahead with inv org definition. you should be able to get the vlaues.

    Besides the standard operating units that come with the EBS suite 12 vision instance, I've created a new operating unit but when I create a PO, I still only see vision operations as the standard operating unit. How do I get create a PO against the new operating unit I just created? I'm sure I'm missing steps but have not been able to find a concise guide.

    You need to attach MO: Operating Unit profile option with your responsibility from where you are creating PO

  • NOT ABLE TO ASSIGN MO:OPERATING UNIT PROFILE VAL TO A RESPONSIBILITY

    I am trying to create new orgnization and assigning parameters in AP. I am not able to assign profile values. Could you pl. clarify foll points..
    To generate seeded data, it is displaying(in the concurrent program) existing operating unit in the LOV not the new Operating unit that I created.
    When i try to associate new Responsibilty to MO operating unit level, it is displaying existing organization not newly created org.
    NOt able to assign profile values to business group(field is protected against update) as I created new ORG not with "setup Business Group".
    When i click legal entity parameter in operating unit, it is displaying
    "NO ENTRIES FOUND FOR LIST OF VALUES"

    We have a value at the site level, and at the 1st OM super user responsibility having the issue has no default value, hence defaulting the value from the site level.
    The other OM super user responsibility has a value. And this value is defaulted to the 1st OM responsibility profile from time to time.
    The other responsibility OM Administrator have no problem. This value changes when the users logged into this OM super user responsibilities (both OU), the value switches back and forth to 2nd OU value and then the site level value fills the value for the 1st OM super user responsibility(even though we didn't have any default value before).
    If the users logged into 1st OM Administrator responsibility to process the orders, then no problem, the value stays to the correct OU).
    We have been relying on the defaulting value(coming from the site level) for all this time and have had no problems until now. It was always blank for the 1st OM super user. but, when the problem started then only it's having issue. I manually deleted the value (wrong value from the other OU) at the 1st OM Super user level, then next time the user logs into the 1st OM Super user resp, then it's having the correct value(same as site), and keep on updating the value with this correct value. But, all of a sudden it changes to the wrong OU value, don't know what object is causing this...

    SPRO --> Materials Management --> Purchasing --> Authorization Management --> Define Function Authorizations for Buyers
    Create Function Authorization for buyers as "PO only with PR" , assign this to Buyer authorization profile..
    Assign Parameter EFB thru SU01 for buyrer
    If u have created Function Authorisation
    Go to SU01>enter user ID> Go to Parameters-->assign that parameter value against EFB parameter( If EFB parameter ID is not there Add it and assign parameter value i.e.Function Authorisation value there

    Also make sure that
    In OMET in details of function Authorization>Possible ref. objects>Tick only Ref. to purchase requisition and not anything else
