Is that right (All IPhone 3GS maded in China)?

HI
I am going to buy an IPhone 3GS But my friend told me "All IPhone maded in China"
Is he right?

I am with Ziatron on this.
I would upgrade all my company's and my own personal Mac products much more frequently (iMacs, MacBooks, iPhones) if they were not made or assembled in China.
China's human rights, civil liberties and ecological record is disgraceful.
I consequently buy as few Mac products as possible although we only use Mac

I have a new iphone 5 and I can't pick up a wireless router that I could use with my old iphone 3GS. Is there an issue with the new iphone and is the antenna weaker than the 3GS?

Re: Anyone still having IOS 6 wifi issues?

Having done a lot of reading today and having found a very good online tablet magazine (will post link tomorrow) there seems to be a few tech bods onto the problem.
The magazine I was reading identified wifi problems within hours of the ios 6 release and have been analysing since then with almost daily updates - the story seems to be:
The apple authenthication transmission is normal, it should slip through event prior to a full handshake with the host network being completed - however if not authenthicated then apple will not permit the device to connect (kills the connection) this is designed to protect apple from counterfeiting. So thats problem 1 if you dont receive a token from apple.
Problem 2 is that ios 6 only supports ipv6 (the new ip protocol) whereas outside silicon valley a large proportion of routers modems etc are still ipv4 protocol.
So youre locked into ipv6 in a world where ipv4 devices are everywhere and apple have not allowed for the ability to handle both protocols. This is like GM telling you your car requires an upgrade, everything will improve etc and as part of the upgrade fits a fuel cell motor and stays silent when their upgraded vehicles are simply parked up because they cannot get fuel.
A very basic expectation would have been dual protocol handling - we know the HW supports ipv4 as all wad fine on ios5.
So its going to be hit and miss with networks - more hit than miss in techy areas like silicon valley, but more miss in places like where I am - a small town in rural Switzerland.
Only apple can fix this with a patch to enable ipv4 protocol handling.
There you go. you just need to buy a new router, I'm sure Apple has one for sale, cause it's not there fault for sure.
Wonder why people start to migrate to other devices ?

  • Will charger that comes with iPhone 3GS charge my new iPod classic 160?

I have an iPhone 3GS; which comes with a charger. I recently purchased a new iPod classic 160; which doesn't come with a charger.
Will the iPhone charger charge my iPod without damaging it?
It appears to work (shows it's charging), but I want to make sure they're compatible.
    Thanks.

Yes, I have the same question- the old classic came with the charger (the rectangular white one). We travel alot and don't take our laptops with us so we need to charge ipods with chargers. So we can still use the one that works with our old classic or the new one, right?

  • Do all iphone 3gS's do this?

My iphone 3gs cuts out all of the time and it won't work again until I plug it in and it's weird but I know that if the apple logo doesn't come on after 3 seconds that it isn't going to work and will go to a scree that says iOS6 and then tells me to plug into itunes, so I disconnect it from my charger (it blacks out again) and try to plug it into my laptop and the apple logo shows up after ten seconds but then it cuts out and does this repeatedly so now my phone won't work at all and I'm sick of it, I've always loved my iPhone so is there any way I can fix this?

Make an appointment at the genius bar.

  • Mabye not the right place-iphone 3gs 16gb costs?

    Hello!
I live in Israel, and in 2 more weeks i will be in the united stats.
I've decided that i want to buy myself an iphone 3gs there(i know that i wouldn't be able to talk until "something" would happen)and i want to know, how much an iphone costs without any contracts to at&t? i heard that it's 599, is it correct?
    thanks a lot, Dvir Ginzburg.

I don't think AT&T will sell you a phone like this. That pricing is usually for replacement by existing customers.
I would have someone call first to confirm.
Also, if i were you, I would not count on "that something" happening in 2 months. 6 Months if ever. If you really want an iPhone, order one from Buy.com as it is carrier unlocked nad resold from Italy. Or go to Europe and buy a carrier unlocked phone.
Buying a new AT&T phone has a high probability of being an iPod for 6 months or forever.

  • Iphone 3GS Cannot withstand China's Winter

Recently I went to China for holidays and brought along my Iphone 3GS. TO my surprise, the phone cannot withstand the winter tempreture of about -10degree Celcius. The internal board cracked and the phone split open
    Wonder if this is common.

With electronics in general, YES!  Most electronics, unless specifically desinged to operate in those extremes, will fail.

  • My uncle sent me a factory unlocked iphone 3gs from US and sent it to me to India. but when i inserted a sim ,it said that my simcard is not combatible. is there any chance to solve this problem. the phone was bought from a apple reseller.

it worked in US with a sprint sim card. i am very sure that it wasnt jailbroken. then how this happened. plz explain me what i should do

A: There is no such thing as an unlocked iPhone 3Gs in the United States. ALL iPhone 3Gs's sold in the US are locked to AT&T. AT&T will NOT unlock iPhones, therefore it is not legitimately unlocked.
B: Sprint is a CDMA network as others have mentioned. They do NOT use SIM cards. The iPhone 3Gs will NEVER work on Sprint. Ever. It's not physically possible.
Either your Uncle misunderstood or he was mislead. Send it back and tell him to get his money back. Buy an iPhone in India from a supported carrier.

  • Will Apple cover my factory unlocked iphone 3GS anywhere in the world?

    Hello,
I'm planning on buying a factory unlocked iphone 3GS directly from the Apple Store in Hong Kong.
Will Apple cover my iphone with the warranty worldwide or only in Hong Kong?
    Thank you.

What I meant to say is that technically, hardware-wise, almost all iphones 3GS are the same (I believe the models in mainland China don't have GPS?).
It's no WiFi in China. GPS used to be illegal in Egypt, but they changed the law recently.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I suppose that the carrier lock is a software lock, which can be removed (we've all heard about it), but gets reversed once you update to a new OS version.
Carriers can ask Apple to unlock particular phones. The next time the iPhone is restored via iTunes, new firmware will be downloaded from Apple and will display a message saying it has been unlocked. It will stay unlocked if updated. Unofficial unlocks (which can not be done on current iPhones) will re-lock if the iPhone is updated.
I know it is the way it is, but I believe most of you would agree that if you buy a telephone, you shouldn't be forced to go with one carrier or another. That is why when I pay for an unlocked phone, I pay much more, go get the freedom (without hacks) to choose the carrier I want (where in contrast I pay much less for calls and internet than with the exclusive iphone carrier).
It would be much easier for Apple if all iPhones were unlocked, and the same in all countries, but the carriers make a fortune from their exorbitant roaming charges, so where the country's laws allow, insist that Apple not make any unlocked iPhones available in their countries.
By the way, MMS is not something most people use. There are some statistics on the internet about the ratio of SMS to MMS and it was something like 10 to 1.
All the 3G and 3GS iPhones are capable of MMS, but the carriers have to support it.

  • IPhone 3GS with OS 4.3.1 - will it iPod in conjunction with Volvo stereo ?

Following the fiasco of finding that upgrading my iPhone 3Gs to iOS 4.2 killed its ability for the phone's iPod function to connect with my 2010 Volvo V70 factory stereo (and then needing to endure an Apple (MS style) info black-out and wait months for the cure to the problem by way of installing iOS 4.3 on the phone) I am now confronted with the dilemma; do I upgrade to OS 4.3.1 ???
If you have upgraded your iPhone 3GS to iOS 4.3.1 and have tried it in your VOLVO please give details here; including year and model of your car.
If I have no reports, good or bad, over the next few weeks I will take the plunge blind and hope for the best! Watch this space for my experiment's outcome.

I see on volvoforums.org.uk the following report:
I updated to 4.3.1 on Friday when it was released and all is working very smoothly with no glitches so far! Both bluetooth and USB are working well. MY11 XC60 D5 (225) AWD

  • Will iOS 6 give Siri to the iPhone 3GS?

iOS 6 is offered to iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and the iPad 2 and 3, and apple has for sure announced that the iPads will receive Siri, but does that mean the iPhone 3GS will as well?

    Taken from Apple's web site
*Siri will be available only on iPhone 4S and iPad (3rd generation) and requires Internet access. Siri may not be available in all languages or all areas, and features may vary by area. Cellular data charges may apply.

  • I am U.S. iPhone 4S user traveling in China.  Data speed is too slow to be usable.  Verizon says that it because iPhone 4S connects to strongest signal even if slowest.  Any work arounds for this design flaw?

I am U.S. iPhone 4S owner traveling in China.  Data speed is too slow to be usable.  Verizon says that is because iPhone 4S connects to strongest signal, even if slowest (virtually non-existent) data network.  Does anyone know how to work around this design flaw?

I spent 2 months in china with my old iphone 3gs.  Both China Unicomm and China Mobile were accessible through my US phone.  (for you other users, yes my phone bill was sky high, but it's a small price to pay when you get instant access to your wife while you are gone... and to be able to use the google translate app).  I had a GSM phone (obviously) and had the ability to choose what carrier I wanted my phone to connect to (the same thing was available when I was in italy as well).
    it was under
general-> network> then there was a new field (that does not normally show up when in the US) that listed the available networks to connect to.  my phone always attempted china unicomm first, and switched to china mobile only when unicomm was unavailible.
but if wjosten is correct (and i imagine he is), cdma phones may not be able to choose what network to connect to.

  • Iphone 3gs, how quickly does wireless strength sample

I have noticed that my new iphone 3GS will, after a while, report 2 bars of wireless in my house with an AEBS in it. If I power the phone on and off, it will return to full 3 bars. Does the Apple Store or ATT have any tool they can check wifi receiver on the iphone??

Ignore the bars, they're practically useless. From the phone app keypad, dial "star3001#12345#star" and press call. This will put you in field test mode and you'll see negative numbers in place of bars. They range from about -50 to about -120 with -50 being perfect and -120 barely a signal. Google this for more info than I care to write about here.

  • Used to convert all my videos into iPhone mp4 format using Any Video Converter - then add it to my iPhone 3GS. But last few days, I cant add video files to iTunes. and the iTunes doesnt even specify the reason except for that "files are not supported"

Everyting was perfect earlier. Used to convert all my videos into iPhone mp4 format using Any Video Converter - then add it to my iPhone 3GS. But last few days, I cant add video files to iTunes. and the iTunes doesnt even specify the reason except for that "files are not supported"
    Everything is fine.
    -They are the right format
    -Quicktime is updated
-I have tried simply dragging them into the 'movie' library
-I have tried going to file<add file to library
Nothing works, has anyone else had this problem and found a way around it?
    Any and all help appreciated.

In addition to Mike's suggestions,  you only have 4GB of RAM and Mavericks does use more RAM than other versions. You may also want to look at the apps that startup on login and the possiblity of upgrading RAM.
