Is the external isight better than the internal?

I have a macbook, but I am considering purchasing an external isight as well. I know the external has auto focus (I do not believe the internal does) but I am more interested in color. Does the external have better color and low-light picture? Is the same 1/4 inch chip from the external used in the internal, or is the internal a lessor chip?
I enjoy the macbooks isight, but I would like to make some movies with iMovie. The internal is not overly impressive with it's colors when doing this. Sharpness is also not excellent, it seems the external will definitly improve upon this.
Any input is greatly appreciated. I would really like to hear from owners of both cameras who could possibly compare and contrast these two.

Hi Kalel,
I agree with Eddie. I have an external mounted on my G5 at the office and an internal on an Intel iMac at home. If nothing else, the ability to reposition makes the external the hands down winner.
Personally, I believe the external records ambient light better than the internal, but I have different lighting situations at both locations.
Both the internal and external have autofocus.
One of the best additions you can get for either one is a program called iGlasses. I has been mentioned many times in this forum with plenty of user comments.

Like almost everything in this world is a matter of choice, but, if it is to logically make a choice here are a few criteria you should consider before picking up a smartphone:
Do you really need it? - if not, the money will stay better in your account;
Set up the budget and consider the fact that smartphones get upgrades faster than computers and laptops, will you be able to upgrade?
Which operating system are you familiar with?
What are your needs and expectations from the smartphone?
What type of person you are (email/chat/SMS/Social Media-man aka. communications, multimedia, productivity, gamer, etc.) this will help you chose the appropriate hardware and check out what are your options regarding the existing applications for your needs;
Are you always on the run or work in an office? - this will help you decide from the battery life point of view;
If you own a tablet you might just need a simple smartphone.
Samsung does not really innovate in terms of functionality and usability, they only copy what others do and make it their own way. Android is not a mature operating system, yet. I like some of its features, of course, but I can rely on it when it comes to productivity as I'm a person who sends 100's of emails per day and need to easily manage the messages.
You can have the best hardware in the world but that's useless if you operating system is bad at managing those resources, you will not be able to exploit the device to the fullest and you might cry over the money you've spent :-) Nevertheless Samsung has a large market share, makes good phones, but not quite smart, they are rather... intelligent, a smartphone is smart from the day you buy it, you don't have to put it in training mode :-)
As about Lumia, I don't have much to say, it's what iPhone had at the iPhone 4 version minus the 40MP camera and the operating system. If I want a good camera then I buy a camera, a Canon or Nikon :-) Yes, the Krait CPU, so what? That CPU is managed by a Wi*dows OS and that should say everything. I'm not against Micr*soft, they had/have their part in technology progress, but I'm more into stable operating systems, I'd chose Android over Wi*dows, yet Nokia were always great at hardware and batery life. Bad choice for Nokia, look at their sales and you will understand.
That's just my two cents, but iPhone is the choice of millions when they chose their first smartphone: is user friendly, solid, great hardware specs, lovely screen, wonderful support, high-level security, multimedia at its best, a design that catches the eye, looks and feels great in your hand, it's light, you have millions of verified apps in the store and a nice community to tell you all these :-)

I have both. One is not necessarily better than the other, really depends on what you plan on using the computer for. Even though the 17" is classified as a portable computer, IMO it's not very portable at all. Go to a store, view handle each for yourself. The 17" is quite large, mine sits on a desk as a desktop replacement. In terms of performance, equipped the same(processor, RAM & GPU), there is only about a 3% performance gain with the 17". Not enough to write home about. The big advantage of the 17" is screen real estate. But, if you want portability, get the 15".

Is the nokia 7390 better than the 6290

this might seem like silly question but I am hoping someone could help me on this.

The 6290 is a series 60 smartphone that was released around the middle of this year.
The 7390 is a series 40 fashion phone that was released late last year or early this year.
The 6290 is a has more features and the abilty to accept more programs but the 7390 has a better camera and smoother operating system.
If you prefer smartphones then the 6290 is the better phone but if you prefer fashion phones the the 7390 is better.
It's a case of S40 phone versus S60 phone, neither is better than the other, just different.

Is the 70D significantly better than the 7D at handling high ISO situations?

I have a 6D and it has really spoiled me with it's low noise high ISO capabilities. I'm wondering if the 70D is significantly better than my 7D when it comes to handling high ISOs. It has the same sensor as the 6D and I really like that view screen on the 70D.

The 6D has a "full frame" sensor - physical dimensions are close to the 36mm x 24mm size of a 35mm film negative frame.
Both the 7D and 70D have APS-C sensors - physical dimensions are close to 22mm x 15mm and close to the same size of a negative frame from "Advanced Photo System - Class" size film.
While the 7D and 70D have sensors which are roughly the same size, the sensors themselves are very different because the 70D has the new dual-pixel AF technology.

Is the iPhone 5c better than the 4 or 4s?

My son dropped his iPhone several times, so we are looking to replace it. The 5c in green is his choice. Is this iPhone better than or the same as the 4/s generation? He does not need a super phone, he does a lot of texting and some game apps, as well as things like dictionary apps. Yes, he does call sometimes. Any comparisons would be helpful in choosing his next iPhone.

The 4 and 4S are discontinued. The 5c is essentially the original 5 in a plastic housing. Yes, it's better.

Is the complimentary bottom replacement on the Macbook made better than the defected one?

I just ordered another Macbook bottom and I was wondering if i'm just getting another defected one or did they actually fix the problem?

We all have different priorities and needs. For me the most meaningful change in the newer MBPs is the USB 3 connectivity. Much faster than USB 2 or Firewire. This is important when transferring data to and from external HDDs. Note that in the 13" MBPs, one still can install larger HDDs if the need arises.

So I have been thinking about getting a white IPhone over the black one and was just curious how many pepole prefer the white over the black one I like the white one cause it is different and starting to grow on me plus not very many pepole have the white one I don't see to many guys with the white one but don't get. I was just wondering, because I really don't know which one to buy. It is for my girlfriend, I'm moving away for a year or so and we won't see each other so it's a leaving present. I really it want it to look good, and last for a long time. So which one would be best for me? Thanks.

That is strictly a personal choice - for me the hard cover is best - but others like the softcover - your pays your money and takes your choice

IPod better than the nano?

Do you think that the nano is better than the real iPods? I think that the real iPod is better than the nano because it has all the same features as the nano execpt the nano is smaller. But the real iPod makes up for that by having more songs than the nanos. So what do you think?

Have the external monitor issues with the rMBP been resolved?

I am looking to buy a new external monmitor and do not want to spend the $1000 for the Apple TB display. I was looking at the Viewsonic 27"IPS panel. It had gotten good reviews, but all over the internet, and right here in this forum the problems are well documented. The retina MBP does play nice with external monitors. Apple guys at my nearest store in Albany tell me they have heard of no problems whatsoever, I didnt have time to show them all the complaints. So now I am stuck. Anywords of wisdom?

I have to use an external monitor with my macbook pro because the screen stopped working a couple months ago. I think the problem with the screen is just a loose connection for the light source because the computer works fine otherwise. The repair people in town say that it's a bad logic board which will cost 700 euros to fix so I've been using it closed with the monitor and a bluetooth keyboard and trackpad. I installed 10.9.2 the other day because I had been using 10.6.8 and there was some software I wanted to use but it needed 10.7 or later. I just assumed 10.9 was safe or better than 10.7 or 10.8 and I didn't do any research or even try to buy or DL them because the links on the apple site led me to 10.9 and I just blindly followed. So NOW when I open the lid to my macbook pro, the menu at the top of the monitor goes gray and the monitor flicks off for a second, and when it comes back all the running applications have vanished from the desktop, (all the open windows) and I can't type, scroll, mouse. When I close the lid it works ok, but I really like the isight camera and I think the microphone is better than the one on my external camera, so it was nice to still be able to use them.
I chatted with someone at apple for a while and he told me to erase my HD and install it again. He said the problems were because I installed it on top of an old OS and that a fresh install will fix all the problems. I have an empty partition on my mbp and I'm about to try to install on that drive and see if it makes a difference, but I don't totally trust that guy. I read the transcript of the chat and he gave me a lot of conflicting info. Does anyone know if it makes a difference to install os 10.9.2 on a totally blank drive, or will the problems on the other partition corrupt everything else?

When transferring volumes to a new drive, is a cloning app better than the finder?
I’m adding a new (bigger) external hard drive. I have created five partions on it as the old drive has. Is it, better, faster, more accurate, etc. to use an app, or just drag and drop the folders on to the new partitions. The sofware I have are; TechTool6, Drive Genius3 & SuperDuper. Two of the partitons have a Mac OS on them. The others just have files.

If the drive is to be functional as a boot drive then cloning is the better approach as it will grab all hidden configuration files and preserve the file access permissions properly; however, if you are setting up a data drive then the Finder's copy options should be adequate. To ensure file permissions are properly attributed to the copied files, select them and press Command-C to copy, followed by Shift-Option-Command-V to paste the items in the new location and preserve their file attributes (you may need to authenticate when copying them in this manner). If you do not need to preserve permissions then a basic drag-and-drop copy should suffice.

I don't think you'll have any luck trying to use both cameras simultaneously. This topic from 4 years ago covers the use of either the internal or external iSight camera. Incidentally, although the iSight camera is "old technology," it's not as old as the "older" hardware typically discussed in this Forum. Sorry, but the only technical specs that I have seen published for iSight are those from the table in the lower left quadrant of Apple's iSight product page. Neither lens diameter nor effective diameter is included.
I have not been able to find the dimensions of the internal components from any Apple info or by Google search either.
If your interest does not require a precise answer, you may be able to make an estimate from the "pictures" link of the disassembly (NOT recommended): iSight Inside.
