Is their a way to rename pictures in iphoto?

I am creating a video that is a combination of video and photos.  I want to be able to drop the photos by folder into the video, but I want them to stay in the order that I put them in, not by date.  What do I do?

Is this for iPhoto on your Mac?  If so the only way to rename the files is to change the title under the thumbnails and then export the files out of iPhoto to a folder on the Desktop via the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export  menu with the option Filename - Use Title.  Then import into iMovie from the folder.
This topic should be in the iPhoto in iLife community.  I'll have it transferred.

  • What is the best way to import pictures from iPhoto without compression?

I'm trying to create a slide show using Final Cut Pro. No, I'm not interested in using iDVD slide show function because it doesn't allow me to do a whole lot. I would like to add titles and music for certain segments with video inserted here and there.
Anyway, when I used the slide show function in iPhoto, exported it out as a quick movie file, and then imported it into Final Cut Pro, I noticed a significant downgrade in quality of images. It obviously looks different from when I play the slide show in iPhoto. What would be the best way to import pictures into Final Cut Pro without any compression?
    Thanks in advance.

I only see Share > Export.
Some versions of iPhoto work that way -it's just Apple moving things around.
what's the difference between exporting it from iPhoto then import it into FCP vs. just importing directly from FCP?
Your first post mentioned exporting a slide show from iPhoto -I assumed that is where your images are stored.
I do not want to import pictures one by one...
You don't have to. iPhoto will let you select as many as you want, or if the images are elsewhere, you can also select multiple files from FCP's Import dialog.
    ...and stick them together manually.
Editing is an art and involves some effort on your part. It is not an automated process. This method opens up far more possibilities, access to filters and color correction and the opportunity to use Motion for even more sophisticated animation.
But, it only allows me to export it as 720 x 480. The original size of my photos is 3872 x 2592. Is there any way I can create a quicktime file in the original size?
You should be aware that 3872 x 2592 is not a standard pixel aspect ratio that is used in video. The images will be resized to the Sequence settings that you set up in Final Cut Pro.
I have never used iPhoto to make a slideshow before, but I just gave it a try and was able to export one with the images in their native size, simply by typing the pixel dimensions into the boxes in the dialog window:
I don't have PhotoMagico myself, but it comes highly recommended by several of the forum regulars.
Perhaps one of them will see this discussion and help with your last question.

  • Is there a way to organize pictures in Iphoto by dragging?  not organizing by date....

is there a way to organize photos in Iphoto by dragging directly to the top of page?  not organizing by date.....

Create an album and place into it any pictures you like. You can even place every single picture in your iPhoto library into it. The pictures can then be organized in any arbitrary way you wish within that album.

I can't use the first solution because of the " / " (problem for the transfer to an external hard drive.
I'd like to use other solutions BUT I don't want to have the day of the week on the title (i have my reasons)

    Is anybody understand me ?
    Thanks for your help

That "!" is an indication that iPhoto has broken the link/file path to the original file. Backup the library and launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed to rebuild the library. Select the options #1, #2 and #6.

  • Renaming Pictures inside iphoto and not finding on .mac upload

I'm a new guy, so please bear with me.
Imported photo's into iphoto and went to info panel and changed titles to meaningful names.
    Ex. DSC00001.jpg -> Easter Dinner.jpg
Went to .mac upload and I cannot find the new name jpg names. The only pictures I can see are the original named pictures. I looked in Original folder, the modified folder and I just see the named files before I changed them. Maybe I am approaching this the wrong way.
    Any hints appreciated.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Changing the title of a photo in iPhoto only changes the title in iPhoto. The actual file name is not touched. The only way you can change the file name and not mess up the library is to either rename them before importing into iPhoto or export the changed file out of iPhoto using the File->Export->File Export menu route with the option to use the Title selected. Then the new files will have those new names. If you try renaiming the files while in the Finder inside the iPhoto Library folder you will damage the library and have to start afresh. So Don't tamper with files in the iPhoto Library folder from the Finder.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • I was lately downlaoding a 700mb file, but i lost the internet connection and i have the .part file and i cant click resume, is their any way that i can continue dowlaoding the file without the need redownloading from the begining?

I was lately downlaoding a 700mb file, but i lost the internet connection and only 635mb was downloaded and i have the .part file but the download menu says that download failed so i cant click resume, is their any way that i can continue dowlaoding the file without the need redownloading from the beginning?

I do not know if your file can be recovered.  But I may be able help you to recreate it with ease.  If you will settle for a composite where all image are re-sized for a particular tile size and virtually cropped to its aspect ratio.  However all source image need be gathered into a folder to use my script process. • Has anyone figured out a way to rename a dynamic time series member?

Our client uses trimesters instead of quarters or halfs in their financial reporting. We need to use dynamic time series but do not want to use Q-T-D or S-T-D members because they don't quite make sense to the client. We attempted to rename Q-T-D to T-T-D in the planning app repository unique names table but received an error. Has anyone figured out a way to rename a dynamic time series member or is it just not possible and we will have an alias that doesn't jive with the member name?

I think the option is probably to use an alias, you shouldn't really be trying to hack the planning tables as it is essbase that controls DTS.
    Cheers

  • How do I rename pictures imported into iPhoto from PC?

I have imported all my pictures from my PC hard drive to my (handed down) MAC. Then I did something wrong and had to 'rebuild' my photo library. That is fixed now and I have, folder by folder, imported the pictures from the MAC HD 'picture' folder into iphoto. In the iphoto 'library' there are duplicates, and even triplicates of files. I have gone through the iphoto library and 'moved to trash' (in iphoto, not the computer's trash) the copies I do not want. Will this mess up anything? I haven't 'emptied' the trash, just in case.
Now I want to rename the files in each folder. For ex, all the files in the folder 'budapest' I want to name 'budapest'(as opposed to DS122345 for example). Is this possible? Will it change the file name in the library also? Or only in the specific folder?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.
You can add a title to the photos in iPhoto, but there is no way to rename a file in iPhoto. What you can do is export the file - (Share -> Export) and use the Title as filename. It's an option on the Export dialogue.
Filenames mean nothing in iPhoto. They simply don't matter. The key to using the app is to remember that you do all your work in the iPhoto Window and don't access the files in the iPhoto Library Folder ever.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
*For Users of 10.5 and later*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
*For users of 10.4 and later* ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
For users of 10.6 and later:
You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu. Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and later:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Is there a way to rename multiple Itunes songs at the same time

Is there a fast way to rename multiple Itunes songs at once, instead of renaming one song inside Itunes at a time? For example; So I can select multiple songs at once and rename each songs Genre all at the same time? Without needing to rename song by song?
    Casey Computer

You can click on multiple songs, and change info in the Get Info > Info screen.  This applies to most fields EXCEPT Name.  iTunes has never allowed the simultaneous change of Name of multiple songs, presumably on the grounds that it is usually an error to do so.
Regarding Genre, yes, this can be changed for multiple songs at once, using the Info tab of Get Info.

    Hi Fiona,
Okay, the 4th parameter is the issue.
    There are four options:
0 = OK (will not have an 'x')
1 = OK, Cancel (will have an 'x')
2 = Yes, No (will not have an 'x')
3 = Yes, No, Cancel (will have an 'x')
Where you do not include a cancel button (0 or 2) then there wont be an 'x':
However where you do include a cancel button (1 or 3) then there will be an 'x':
There wont be a workaround here (afaik), as the messagebox is driven by the OS, eg is automatically appears different on a Mac verses a Windows machine.
    Good luck,
    Niall

is there a way to view pictures and messages sent & received?

You can view the text messages and picture messages on the phone they were sent form, and on the phone that received the messages.  With the introduction of Integrated Messaging, you can now send and receive messages on phones, tablets, and your computer.
Depending on your phone and other devices, how you would view those messages may change. What device(s) do you have?  Have you tried the Integrated messaging app?

Also when i open photos they automatically open with preview, do I need to impost them into iPhoto or should they just automatically save there?

Are these photos in iPhoto? If so, then use the Photos -> Batch Change command.
IF not then you can use a batch file renamer such as Name Mangler
iPhoto is a database and can only show pics that have been imported to the DB.
