Is there a Java Graphic Package that doesn't depend on DISPLAY?. I need to generate some images on the web and I can't guarantee that the DISPLAY variable is set correctly.

Previously to JDK 1.4 the DISPLAYwas mandatory and most of the production Web sites were running a virtual X server (XVFB) take a look to this document
However using JDK 1.4 or after you should not need to set the display anymore. Java contains now a headless that you set the Java properties java.awt.headless to true (java -Djava.awt.headless=true ...)

Try holding down the Shift key when you start Pages. it is probably trying to open a document which it can't find.

We're not allowed to speculate on future or rumoured Apple products, but we all know there'll always be newer tech coming along.
The iMac you have is an excellent machine, be happy with it and get a good few years use out of it. By the time your machine is slowing down, whatever comes next will have been updated numerous times.

PDF created using Java iText package - Text not editable and not displaying font properties on Acrobat

Hi,
I have an issue in editing the text and viewing the font properties of a text region on a PDF created using Java iText package.
I use Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and the option Tools -> Advanced Editing -> TouchUp Text Tool.
The strange behaviour is that, I have 2 PDFs created out of the same base PDF and text added via Java iText package with the same Text, Font and other properties.
One of the PDF has the text region editable on Acrobat but the other one has the text region which is not editable.
But both the PDFs are editable via Adobe Illustrator.
I have attached both the PDFs for your reference

PDF_Not Editable.pdf - Not Editable on Acrobat
Any help or insight to find out the difference/issue with the PDF which is not editable via Acrobat would be appreciated.

You don't have direct control of the leading of a multiline text field. A common approach is to control the background color of the field with JavaScript since the lines are not really needed when the field is used in Reader/Acrobat. They may be useful when using the form by hand. Otterbox Defender series. I have 6 iphones, 5 ipads, and 5 ipods in the family and everyone of them had an Otterbox on them before they were used by anyone. They are all used by a 2 year old up to teenagers and have never had a single issue with them being dropped, thrown, etc. on concrete, tile, gravel or any surface. The Otterbox is a little pricey but they are well worth the cost considering the price to replace a broken screen. I drop my phone a good bit too and am always amazed when I take it out of the case to clean the dust off how clean it is, it looks brand new.

Is there some way I can open the contact list, click on all of the individual addresses to which I want to send the email without the list closing between each address entry, and have all of my address entries be listed to the email at one time? Something like it works in Gmail. I do not want to use set lists, I want to enter different addresses each time I send an email. And I am a very slow typist, so I don't want to type the first few letters of each recipient's name. It is much faster for me to just click on the e-mail addresses in the list as a group. It doesn't make any sense to me to have to reopen the contact list for each address, when it should be so easy to click on all of the addresses I want at one time and then click once to add them all to the email as a group. If there is a solution to this, please tell me. Thanks.

Try this:
1. Select Mail>File>New Message.
2. Select Mail>Window>Address Panel.
3. Use (command+click) on the desired addressees in the Address Panel to create the list.
4. Click "To:" on the top left of the Address Panel.
The group that you selected will be added to the "To" field in your New Message.

Sign out and back into your apple id from Settings>iTunes and App stores>(Your apple ID)>Sign Out and then sign in again with the new address. Close app store from running in the background (or restart the phone if your unsure how to do this). If when trying to update any apps they are still asking for the old apple ID, delete and re-install those apps.

Hi, is there a way to "force-mount" an external drive that doesn't show up on the desktop? I have a new Hitachi SATA III 2 TB Ultrastar that won't show up like all the other drives when plugged in. So I can't partition, repair, format etc with Disk Utility, Disk Drill, Tech Tools etc. How do I make it visible?
I use the FW 400 to 800 adapter and a FW hub.

Correct. When you purchase devices, they would have stated the OS they needed to work, on the box. This can be overlooked, but it is very important to check when purchasing.
You current OS, is so old, that they technology build into the new devices, is not something your OS understands. It didn't exist when your OS was created, and therefore you need to upgrade the OS to work with the newer technology of these devices.

It said that I had tried 7 pass codes prior to these, but I don't remember ever trying to get into restrictions before.

I've seen some mention here and there about ways to maybe change it so the volume buttons change tracks and holding the volume buttons changes the volume... but I don't know what's involved in that or if its even possible/recommended for a new 5th gen iPod. I think its a great device but its sadly lacking in music oriented functions and features... which is disappointing since music is why most people would bother getting one instead of some other "iDevice" :/

Simply don't want to hear it at this time.
For problem number 1. Don't put it on the iPod in the first place. (I know, obvious answer!)
For problem number 2. How about playing from a Smart Playlist (initially created in your iTunes Library) which has only songs you've not played recently?
For problem number 3. Hhhmmm! Create alternative Playlists for use in the car.
As for going back to the start of the "now playing" track.... Well, if your Playlist has only songs that you really, really want to hear, then you'll be looking forward to that rather go back to the beginning of the current song.
I'm not trying to be prescriptive, just giving you food for thought.
(They are all cheaper options than buying a car which can control the iPod from the steering wheel.)

ExportPDF is not for forms. In general, converting forms to Word is a really, really bad idea which can even cause legal problems. Work with the form as a PDF. Acrobat (not Reader) can export form data as simple text for example.

Either I get help with this or I am asking for a 2 year refund. My intention was to be able to edit a pdf in MS Word.
