Is there a MAC version of "Paint" that comes with leopard?

So I made the switch over to Mac about a year ago. I am loving everything about it, Just one quick question. One thing that I miss about windows is the "paint" program. Do Macs come with anything similar to that? I have browsed through apps quite a few times trying to hunt something down, no luck. Please help if you know I must be missing something, or if you know no such app exists on mac. Thanks.

1 - the iPhoto application is an application and does not hole your photos - your photos are in the iPhoto library an dour normal daily backup will back them up so your photos are safe
2 - what exactly does the error message say? You probably need to reinstall the iPhoto application form the original source
3 - note that no version of iPhoto comes with any OS - iPhoto comes with all new Macs but not with any OS and most OS versions can run many different versions of iPhoto

I believe APEX 3.2 is still shipped with Oracle 11g but I could be wrong.

Why doesn't the version of Notepad that comes with Java work?

Something is wrong with the version of Notepad that comes with the j2sdk1.4.2. When I click on my desktop icon I get "Java Webstart Application Manager". I highlight "Notepad App" and continue. Notepad opens up I type in my code. Then I click on "Save" and choose my Java folder to save the file. Now at the bottom it says "Files of type... and it seems to me I should be able to save the file as type Java. But all it says is "all files." When I look in my Java folder the file is there but it just says type "file". Isn't it supposed to be saved as a "Java" file?
And I still can't invoke the compiler at the command line nor run my program. But I'm going to try it again.

A java file is a test file with a .java extension. There is nothing special about it.
If you want an editor try eclipse, this edits,compiles,runs,debugs, refactors and much more.

I have done some research and I don't think that Metric Systems still exists (at least not the same Metric Systems that made SurfaceVIEW).
I'm not sure exactly what SurfaceVIEW does but INSIGHT might be the replacement you are looking for.

The version of Acrobat that comes bundled with Adobe CS3 has multiple errors, such as not interfacing properly with pre-2007 versions of MS Word.

The version of Acrobat that comes with Creative Suite 3 has multiple glitches, especially with regard to the interface between Acrobat and Microsoft Word. Making PDF files from Word .Doc Files--the main reason I bought this product (OK, it was also on sale), so it was kind of disappointing to find out that I can't do that. The basic hit-or-miss with Word/Acrobat inter-functionality is most glaring in the PDFMaker addon in Microsoft Word 2003, in which Adobe prevents Word from saving the Normal Template for as long as it is installed. You can uninstall PDFMaker, but then you can no longer make PDF files from .DOC files, period. In practical terms, this means that all of my style changes and keyboard shortcuts get wiped unless I uninstall Acrobat to update Normal.dot, then reinstall it to make PDFs and just not save shortcuts or change styles in the meantime.
Adobe Creative Suite 3 has a ton of gratuitous interface bells and whistles, stuff that's amazing but haven't had a use for professionally (i.e., Flash, since I mainly do composition work), stock photos that were discontinued as a feature right after I started browsing them online... the list goes on. Apparently the only way to report it is this impersonal channel or to pay 40 buck to get treated like a value customer. Sorry, I'm not one of those people who has Platinum Citizenship and can just buy the new version every year and blow eighty bucks when I can't find an answer in the Help menu. I've tried multiple Adobe downloads that were supposed "fixes" for this, and nothing has worked. Third-party online indicate that the Word software was actually pretty solid that year; it's Acrobat that's corrupting the code. I love Photoshop (not that I have the first clue how to really use it), but I am very disappointed with Creative Suite 3 overall. Does anyone know if there is an OpenOffice type product on the freeware circuit that would copy the function of Acrobat and work with a ten year-old version of Word, without the not-working part?

And what is the point of all this? CS3 is now 7 years old and Office 2003 just the same. Yes, sometimes software has bugs and compatibility issues. Beyond there is nothing here to discuss on either end, given the circumstances...

Yes there is a Premiere Elements 12 Mac.
Premiere Elements versions are standalone programs. So you would be purchasing a new program with its serial number.
Upgrade typically goes to a price break if you have a prior version of Premiere Elements and you purchase from Adobe Sales direct.
Years ago, a user could purchase at a local retailer and get "rebate from Adobe" based on having an earlier version. I have not seen that anymore (for years).
Remember Premiere Elements 10 Windows projects do not work in Premiere Elements Mac (any version) and the other way around also.
Also Premiere Elements Mac does not have all the attributes that Premiere Elements Windows has. One example, if you work with green screen, know that Premiere Elements Mac does not have the Green Screen Key, Blue Screen Key, or Chroma Key Effects.

No.
Serial numbers are Mac only or Windows only. There is a platform swap process (from Mac to PC etc) but only for CS6.
As a CS5 owner, your choices are to either pay to upgrade to CS6 for Mac or join the Cloud.

I'm pretty certain that I got my version of stuffit, which has worked excellently on my Intel MBP, from that site. I downloaded it around the time when I first got the laptop, so I'm pretty sure that's the site.

Retail version of tiger vs version that comes with your mac

what is the difference between the two? are the disks that come with the mac specificly made for a certain mac meaning like drivers etc. im interested cause i wanted to take tiger of my laptop and put it on my powermac and taking panther off my powermac and putting it on my laptop. that way there wouldnt be the same version on more than one computer which should be ok with the liscense agreement

Using OS X Install CDs/DVDs On Multiple Macs
The question of using system/software install CDs/DVDs on more than one machine is frequently asked.
So, FYI:
System software installation CDs/DVDs, that come with a particular Mac model, are HARDWARE/DRIVER SPECIFIC to that model, and not intended to be used on other Mac models. For instance, the CDs/DVDs that are shipped with an iMac are not to be used on an iBook or eMac.
And the "Tiger" DVDs that are shipped with any new Mac, also are not to be used on other Mac models.
If such an installation were possible, or somehow accomplished successfully, that action would constitute a violation of your license agreement, which limits installation to a single computer.
The "Single User Software License Agreement" can be found here Software License Agreement.
Similarly, any "Upgrade" CDs/DVDs for a particular Mac OS will ONLY work for that Mac & system. For example, if a new Mac that shipped with Jaguar/Panther, was purchased shortly before the release of Panther/Tiger, the user may have purchased "Upgrade" CDs/DVDs, for a lesser price than the full install set. These CDs/DVDs do not contain all of the necessary components for an independent installation of Panther or Tiger.
The license agreement applies to single user retail versions of system software. The "Panther" or "Tiger" boxed set, for example.

It does appear that your processor is too old to use the Mac-native version:

Your MacBook Pro 1,1 has only a Core Duo, not Core 2 Duo.
But you could use the online version ( in a Browser) if you do not mind operating that way. Some users have Privacy concerns and will simply NOT use online tools for this.
If you move to a more modern Mac, most stuff keeps on running. If you only changed processor to one that could run 10.6.8 in 64-bit mode, essentially NOTHING would change except that memory-intensive Applications would run faster.
Tools dependent on PowerPC native code are not supported after 10.6.8. The top six of these in my opinion are:
Microsoft Office 2004, including Word.
Eudora 6
FileMaker Pro 6
AppleWorks
Adobe Creative Suite 2, including PhotoShop
Quicken 2007** but a US$15 upgrade is available that seems to work fine with a few changes.
