Is there a Usb Optical audio adapter for 2012 iMac?

I didn't realize that there wasn't going to be an optical audio output until the day I unboxed the iMac. I would like to plug it into my headphones that require a optical ouput. Any help well be appericated, thanks.

Yes, I have. I have Astro A50's and the mixamp needs a optical cable. Is there a usb optical adapter that I can plug into the iMac?

  • Optical audio cable for iMac?

I need to find an optical audio cable for my 20" intel iMac.
I have not been able to determine what kind of cable that it is that I need to be able to hook up my iMac to my logitech z-5500's. I know that the z-5500's have an optical input on them, but it is a standard size optical input.
Does anyone know what exactly it is that I am looking for?
    Any help is appreciated.

I wish Apple would sell a nice white Toslink ->Mini-tos adapter, as all of their products seem to be using the connector. (Or better yet, include it with the computers.)
The cable mentioned above will work fine and is not viciously overpriced like the Monster stuff. Another good quality solution, especially if you already have a regular optical cable, is this adaptor: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=180-968
I use two of those (both with Dayton Audio optical cables from the same seller, though any optical cable will do as there's no real difference between any of them) with my iMac and AirPort Express, and have not had any problems.

  • Is there a firewire to HDMI adapter for IPAD 4?

Is there a firewire to HDMI adapter for IPAD 4?

It's called the "Lightning" connector. Here is the adapter you need:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD826ZM/A/lightning-digital-av-adapter
The Lightning Digital AV Adapter mirrors exactly what you see on your device so that everyone in the room can enjoy it on your widescreen TV, video projection screen, or other HDMI-compatible display. The Lightning Digital AV Adapter also supports video out for watching movies, TV shows, and more.
You can also stream wirelessly using AirPlay but that requires Apple TV. Streaming music or other audio requires an AirPort Express or compatible device.

  • Is there a usb 3.0 cable for iPods?

I was wondering if there are USB 3.0 cables for iPods. Any feedback would be great

No. Apple only sells one cable for the iDevices.
The iDevices will work with a USB port but it will be not faster than a USB 2 port.

  • Audio adapter for N82 ?

    Hi,
I am looking for an audio adapter for N82 AD - 46 has many N series phones listed but doesn't include N82. Does anyone knows which adapter works with N82 ?
    Thanks
    Joseph
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

What exactly are you trying to do?
That audio adaptor is for older models with pop-ports that allows you to connect standard 3.5mm headphones.
The N82 can accept any standard 3.5mm headphones without any form of adaptor because it already has a 3.5mm port.

  • Is there a hard drive size limit for G5 imacs?

I recently added a 1.5 TB firewire drive to my father's iMac. Since then the system has been hanging frequently and I have not been able to restart the machine remotely using either Timbuktu or ssh sudo reboot.
Is this drive too big for leopard to handle on the G5?

  • USB to HDMI adapter for external display in clamshell mode?

    Hello.
Does anyone know of a USB to HDMI (or DVI) adapter so that I can connect an external display (with an HDMI or DVI cable) to a USB port on my Macbook air?
I need to run it in clamshell mode, mirroring the Air display. The Monoprice  USB to HDMI adapter (which uses DislplayLink drivers) I tried does not work properly in clamshell mode with mirroring (though it works in arrangement mode).  I know I can use the Thunderbolt port, but I need to leave this free for a Firewire device.
    Thanks.

Unfortunately, I have the same problem, but using USB devices and Displaylink software.  I know there are issues with Displaylink software as they say the problem is with Apple.  I have three external monitors with a late 2008  I Macbook Pro which gives me four screens.  I was able to get two to work + the Macbook, but there were so many issues, like you described, that I have given up and I am just using the Mini Display port which gives me one external and the Macbook.  Looks like we will just have to wait until Apple does something.  I have found no other solutions at this point - hardware or otherwise.

  • USB adapter for old imac

I know this should be in the crt imac forum, but i need a response soon.
I'm looking for a wireless usb adapter for a crt imac. This mac has the capability to use an airport card, but none is installed.
Are there any usb adapters that are mac compatible? If not, is there anywhere i can find an old airport card (not airport extreme).

    Hi John,
    You want one of these:

It connects to the ethernet port. I have the 'B' version on an old 450DV+, and it works well.

I scan thru my iMac manual & found that I have not use my audio in/optical audio port.
What is that port for ?
Can I connect a mic to it & do a voice over in FCE ? If yes, then is this a better method or using a USB mic is better ?

The audio-in port supports both analog audio input & optical digital input. It can be used with almost any audio source including microphones, tape decks, cd players, dvd players, mixers, etc. including mic level and line level sources. The quality of the audio will be dependent on the quality of your audio source. It is neither better nor worse than a USB based audio source per se.
Yes, you can connect a microphone to the audio-in port. The quality of the audio will be dependent on the quality of your mic. If you have a good mic the results should be as good through the audio-in port as it would be via USB provided your USB device is capable of producing good audio.
Thanks Martin for the answers !!
    Really appreciate it, thanks

  • Is there a flush microsd card adapter for MBP?

So I have a late 2013 13" Retina MacBook Pro and I have to say I'm surprised at how the SD adapter comes out as far as it does when inserted.  I would think with the usual Apple design that if someone were to use and SD card, they wouldn't want it sticking out that far.
Anyway, is there a microSD card adapter that exists which would be much more flush with the unit?  I'd really prefer it not sticking out as far as it does. Thank you.

I think that'll do, thanks!  I'd prefer a microSD adapter since I already have the 64gb card but if that's my option, then that's my option.  Too bad there's not an 128gb version for the 13" 2013 Pro, I'd probably buy it.
There are many other options it there, however you didn't appear to finding any, so I gave you some examples.
There are a lot for the Raspberrypi, but I don't know how the MBP slot would handle them…
    http://www.adafruit.com/products/966
    http://quilix.com/pio
If the MBP SD reader is spring loaded (if it pushes back to pop out the card) I'd consider trying one from Adafruit (it's cheap enough) you should be able to 'press it out' with the spring if it goes too far in!
I'd spend some time comparing sizes to a normal card though & see it it looks right - the last thing you want is a blocked slot
There must be a Micro SD card version for the Retina MBP, that was just the first one on Amazon, try any other sellers local to you.

  • Audio Adapter for my

I just have the little GB Zen. I am curious as to if anyone knows if there's an adapter that I can hook up to my stereo system and my Zen to play it our of those speakers or if theres some sort of docking station for this particular model.

I don't know anything about your particular model but chances are the only thing you need is an adapter cable. Run over to Radio shack (or maybe even WalMaart) and pick up a cable with a /8" mini headphone connector on one end and two RCA phono plugs on the other end. Just plug the /8" mini into your player's headphone jack and the phono plugs into the "aux" input on your stereo. You may have to play around with the volume controls on both your Zen and the stereo. Start with both turned all the way down. I would guess that you will probably have the best results with the Zen's volume at about 20%.
