Is there a way to automate "show all" when opening Finder

Is there a way to do this? When i open finder, it just want it to show all the folders. I have to click top right, "show all" all the time most of the day.
It would be nice just to have it a default

Finder > Preferences > General tab > New Finder windows show: All my files.

you can make a group in address book consisting of all those contacts and address the email to that group. that would be the only way to do this automatically.

Is There A Way To Auto 'Add All' MSN Buddies to iChat (Jabber)??

Hello all.
I have successfully registered for a Jabber account and "registered" the Jabber /MSN Gateway via PSi.
I remembered a long time ago before Tiger I attempted this with iChat, and all my MSN buddies are automatically added into iChat, just like in MSN.
But now when I go online in iChat with my Jabber account, it is empty.
Is there a way to "automatically add" all my MSN buddies??
Also another Question: It is only possible to activate 1 Jabber account at one time?? I have another one with my Gmail buddy, when I activate my Jabber MSN, the Jabber Gmail becomes uncheck...
Is there a way to activate ALL Jabber accounts??

No, it's not the same Jabber server as the last time... but on the 2nd time when I log on to my Jabber account in PSi and make the MSN Gateway active, all my buddies in MSN started to appear in a list in the main window... that did not happen the 1st time round... so maybe the "push" thing you mentioned maybe happening here... but after that I did not have the time to go log on iChat again...

Is there a way to automatically sort/filter the itunes music list by files that cannot be located?

I have quite a lot of files that can't be located, and want to delete them all at once rather than clicking on everyfile to choose delete. Does anybody know of a way to sort the itunes listing so that I can group them all together to delete, or a way to automatically purge them all from the itunes file?

I'd love to get some sort of "printout" (a list or
something) of every single file.
There is, go to browser and cntrl click on any one of the columns,
and select - show/source. A new column named "source" will pop up and will show where everything "lives". Click on the header at the top and it will justify the column as well. You'll notice this won't show anything for your seq.'s. of course, but will show stills/audio/motion files...
Once you have the new column, you can drag it next to the "name" column and get a grab of it and print it if you like, or whatever.
If you want to do this for just 1 seq., then can create a new bin and double click it to open it. Cntrl-A (select all) in your main seq. and just drag all into the new bin. You will see only what's in that seq. with the "source" column right next to it.
From what I've read, you seem to get the MM thing and it's obviously what you'll need to do to archive as the guys said. But what your missing is a file path system to where everything resides.

Thanks for taking the time. Unfortunately no that does not solve it. Same as swipe it will get me there and it will show separate programs spaced out. The issue I am having is that all my open word files are bunched up in a pile on top of each other. I can see the edges of each one but I want them to be separated from each other enough that I can visually identify what file is what.

I just imported a load of photos into my main iPhoto '11 Library from several older MAC's Photo Libraries. Despite repeatedly using the "Don't Import Duplicate Photos" dialogue box, I have many duplicate photos. Is there a way to automatically detect and delete Duplicate Photos?
I also have iPhoto Library Manager installed on my MAC, but cannot seem to locate on it anything that would do this.
I have over 4,000 photos, so would really appreciate some help here! Thanks in advance...

if you still have all of the original iPhoto libraries I recommend you drag the bad one you created to the desktop (delete it later when everythin has successfully been completed) and start over usin iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - to merge the libraries

I saw a widget that fetches the album artwork from the web. great fun!!!
Now is there a way to fetch all these artworks automatically.

I had the same problem. Had at least 3 of each song in my library... Here's how I fixed it.
Go on iTunes to your library
Hit Shift and click on View
Scroll down to "show exact duplicate items"
the list will give you all your duplicated songs
Click at the top of the "date added" Column to sort by date added.
Even if it all happened the same day it will group your whole library by date and time added.
The time is the key...
You can start at the begining of you list and scroll to the last song that was added that day and time frame.
Everything after your last song is duplicates.
Highlight the first song hold down shift and scroll down to the last song...
Once they are all highlighted you can hit delete and send them all to the recycle bin.

Sure-glad to help you. You will not lose any data by changing synching to MacBook Pro from imac. You have set up Time Machine, right? that's how you'd do your backup, so I was told, and how I do my backup on my mac. You should be able to set a password for it. Save it. Your stuff should be saved there. So if you want to make your MacBook Pro your primary computer, I suppose, back up your stuff with Time machine, turn off Time machine on the iMac, turn it on on the new MacBook Pro, select the hard drive in your Time Capsule, enter your password, and do a backup from there. It might work, and it might take a while, but it should go. As for clogging the hard drive, I can't say. Depends how much stuff you have, and the hard drive's capacity. As for moving syncing from your iMac to your macbook pro, should be the same. Your phone uses iTunes to sync and so that data should be in the cloud. You can move your iTunes Library to your new Macbook pro

don't forget to de-authorize your iMac if you don't want to play purchased stuff there
and re-authorize your new macBook Pro
time machine is an application, and should be found in the Applications folder. it is built in to OS X, so there is nothing else to buy. double click on it, get it going, choose the Hard drive in your Time capsule/Airport as your backup Time Machine and go for it. You should see a circle with an arrow on the top right hand of your screen (the Desktop), next to the bluetooth icon, and just after the wifi and eject key (looks sorta like a clock face). This will do automatic backups of your stuff.

The best way to automate any NI instrument in Logic is to use Kore from NI.
Kore opens as a pi and acts as host to single or multiple AU instances. Kore hardware has 8 buttons and 8 controllers assigned to control all parameters (all set up in factory presets, but also user controllable)
When you open a software instrument in Logic using kore, Logic automatically assigns automation to 8 pages of the 16 controls. You do not need to set this up in Logic's cdontroller assignments, it happens automatically
so if I open a sound in reactor I have no instant automation
If I open the same sound in Kore I get up to 64 continuous controllers and 64 on/off switches instantly.
I still find it hard to come to terms with how well kore works and how simple it is to use. Highly recommended.

Is there a way to automate genre assigning

Typically when I insert a CD for import I have to select all the tracks and then assign a genre. Usually the track info iTunes grabs from CDDB are good, but the genre is off. Doing this for hundreds of CDs is a bit of a pain... I know Control-A will select all the tracks, but then from there I don't know a shortcut to Get Info and change genre. Ideally I could automate all of this and not even have to go through shortcuts. It would be great to stick a CD in and then run a 'macro' that grabs all the tracks and changes them to a given genre like Alternative.
Any ideas on what my best options are? If not a macro... what about shortcut keyins at least?

Alt-G (genre field)
Then type enough letters in the genre's spelling to get it to select.

We can place a pagebreak before the Heading or Sub-Heading manually prior to or even after creating a Table of Contents. So that the Heading or Sub-Heading is placed always on top of a page.
To create a Table of Contents:
Under Format panel, define paragraph text as Title, Subtitle, Heading, Heading2 ..... and so on for displaying in TOC.
After completion of document writing, place cursor where a TOC is to be displayed.
Insert > Table of Contents > Document
A table of contents generates automatically.

Is there any way to automatically update not on cellular but on wifi like on android? I am wanting to leave update automatically on but not cellular for updates but I need cellular for iTunes match. It seams that there is no choice for wifi when available. I went through a ton of data with app updates on cellular.
