Is there a way to completely disable tabs (removing all tab related menu options) for firefox 10. I hate tabs and recent changes to the menus make incorrect selection of 'open in new tab' when what I want is 'open in new window' a common and unwelcome occurrence.
You can hide menu items and move them up / down in the menu with the Menu Editor extension. <br />

I want to completley disable the installation and/or use of add-ons in Firefox 4. I don't want anybody that logs onto either of my computers to be able to use add-ons and I can't find a way to disable it in the configuration files. I've found ways to lock down other options like updates etc. but I cannot find a way to completely disable add-ons.

It There No Way To Be Rid of the Ghosted "Try iWorks" Menu Option?
I bought a boxed version of iWork 08 and duly registered it. However, the "Try iWorks" menu option is still featured, albeit ghosted.
I understand about the demo/activate nature of the app, but surely I don't need to see its non-existent (at least for me) demo origins every time that menu drops down?
Tell me this will go away with the first iWorks 08 upgrade?

No way to know if this will be removed. I also registered mine and it seems as though for purchasers of the retail copy, this would never be used anyway (the install for the demo included in iLife was different than the one for the full version, but I'm going to see if both install a "demo").

Is there any way to completely disable the gyroscope?
My gyroscope is messed up.
The gyroscope app shows it is going bezerk. I don't want to fix it. My only problem is that the iPhone uses it to stabilize videos, so they look fine during shooting but wobbly afterwards. My question is : is there anyway to disable the gyroscope or the gyro video stabilization Another video shooting app that doesn't use the gyro to stabilize would be a great solution too

EdenThe M7 co-processor is a chip in the phone that collects data on your steps. It is separate from the main processor which means, among other things, that it uses less battery life than step tracking using just the accelerometer as the iPhone 5 and previous did. It does not use cellular data to track your steps. Again, it is not the app that's tracking your steps, it's the co-processor. But, no, the co-processor can't be turned off.
I'm not sure that there's any particularly nefarious purpose to which the information on the number of steps you take every day could be put. However, if you're concerned about people accessing data from your phone (and there's a lot more sensitive data on most people's phones than that), put a passcode on the phone.

Is there any way to COMPLETELY disable snapping automation?
I'm trying to create automation lines, specifically region automation using the pop up window below the piano roll in the single screen format. (so when I open up the piano roll and then click the icon in the lower left corner, and then select "Expression" from the pop up menu in the upper left corner of that panel)
It constantly wants to snap to some kind of grid when I first select a node to move. If I move it around a bit I can then position it exactly where I want to, but it won't just move to the exact position that it needs to be when I first start to grab the node. It's REALLY annoying!!!! I'm trying to create natural sounding expression, but this is making it unnecessarily difficult!
I've tried making sure "snap automation" is not checked, and that my snapping is set to ticks. But still it wants to snap when I first start to move the node. Bad Logic, no!

I've posted several times about not being able to download HP Solution Center for my new System 7 64 bit PC.

Thr original disks won't launch and the HP download exe. for my Photosmart Premium C309 g-m extracts but does't lanch.
I believe there maybe existing HP software files from the original pc that were downloaded when my existing files were transfered to the new computer.
However there is no HP folder in existing applications and no HP files show up under uninstall.

I have looked into this issue for you and I have found a document I would suggest you look at to see if this can perhaps fix the installation issue for you. Is there a way to completely eliminate the sound clicking feedback noise?
I know there´s an option in the sound window, under sound effects that says ¨Play feedback when volume is changed" but the thing is, with that on, if I hit shift I can hear the sound clicking again, and that's exactly what I don't want (Kind of a dumb idea if you ask me). I work as a sound technician and I play sounds from my mac to the speakers at a theatre, and at times I may need to use the volume on the mac (sometimes the mixer is unavailable). I had never noticed this "play feedback when volume is changed" feature until yesterday, and I'm so used to hitting the shift key SO MUCH that I might do it unconciously at the show, and that's a risk I can't take, so for now I'm keeping the feature enabled, but is there any way to completely remove the sound so I don't run the risk of having that sound click during playback?
Well, like I said, file a feature request with them to address this.
I've actually already done that today for you, since apparently no one ever likes to fill them out and ask for changes that make logical sense.
Bottom line, if you have disabled the sound, stop holding down the shift key when you adjust sound. Sounds (pun intended) to me like you knew already why this happens, yet you insist on holding down button combinations when you know the final behavior. In the words of Steve Jobs... "You're holding it wrong." -
How come I have to put in a keychain password every time safari or mail is opened? Is there a way I can disable it or save the password so it doesn't pop up every time? Also, I have my mail account set up from my Yahoo! account and every time I open mail, it asks for the password for my Yahoo! account. I have checked save this password to keychain and it persists on popping up repeatedly.
You don't want to disable keychain (if there's even a good way to do so), since it stores stuff like certificates and the such. It's quite useful.
Anyways, Keychains>Preferences>First Aid. Check Set Login Keychain as default. When you login, it unlocks the keychain.

First of all, an idle threat is one that a person has no intention of carrying out. In the past 16 months that I have had this phone I have become less and less satisfied and found that it is like much of today's technology....over rated and under performing. The one thing that I have never been accused of is not wanting, or not giving help but when a company makes itself unavailable to resolve issues and leaves it to forums run by users helping users, it speaks more about the company than anything else they could do. This UI change is really stupid and useless. People got used to some specified menu items order. Changing this order could only annoy and anger.
Also the reload button has been relocated. This is another example of stupid Firefox 4 UI change. The good news is that it could easily be relocated to its original place.
It looks like the Firefox developers are suffering from idleness and boredom.

That is a setting in your browser that tells it what to do with an MP3 file. For example, if you are using Firefox, go to Options > Applications. For "MP3 Format Sound," change it from QuickTime to "Always Ask."

First off, I'm sorry to hear about the theft of your daughter's computer. The good news is that all Apple computers have their serial number in multiple places (depending on the model) and Apple maintains a list of every one of them. Do you have the serial number? If not, you can get it from the retailer you purchased it from.
As far as GPS and disabling it, it is going to depend on several factors but the short answer is probably not. I mean, Yes, there is a a way to detect location in most modern Mac's through a web browser using Geolocation (W3C API) but there is no onboard GPS; disabling the machine remotely would require you to have 'Back to my Mac' already set up on it from iCloud. There might also be some third party tools available that I'm not aware of.
Again, I'm really sorry to hear about the stolen computer. I'll keep an eye on this thread to see if you have any other questions.

Only password on lock screen and restrictions for certain apps could be helpful in that case.
But restoring will remove this protection and delete all data, so make sure that other people can not take your iPod away from you.
