Is there a way to just use one apple id

I can't seem to use my old apple id for iCloud. And now when I try to create a new one all my name options seem to be taken. Is there a way to just get all of my iTunes, Mail, Notes, etc. all under one apple id?

It's do-able, but I don't think it's a great idea.
DVI
Some users with DVI have managed to get their TV's to work with DVI-HDMI cables. DVI carries no audio, so alternative connections need to be explored to enable audio. DVI doesn't necessarily support HDCP as well as other standards used by HDMI (which may or may not be an issue)
Analogue
There are hardware converters that will convert HDMI to various other types of output, however there are some issues with doing so that you should be aware of.
HDCP
HDCP compliant converters will not allow you to watch HDCP protected content such as that from the iTunes Store. Non compliant converters exist but we cannot discuss them under the Terms of Use for these communities.
Resolution and aspect ratio
I'm not aware of any converters that will scale the output from the Apple TV, any TV or projector which is used will need to be widescreen and support resolutions of 720p (Apple TV 2), 720p/1080p (Apple TV 3)

I was prepared to say that you can't block or circumvent the default iOS apps, and then I read your response. Assuming you have control of the iOS device before the user so you can make such a configuration change, that sounds like an innovative and viable solution. I'll have to look into that.

Syncing shouldn't trouch you photos unless you have photos in a Photo Library album. These would be photos that were synced to your phone from your computer. If you do have any, you'll need to use an app like PhotoSync to transfer them to your computer prior to syncing.
If you prefer to backup your camera roll photos prior to syncing, open iTunes and go to Preferences>Devices and check "Prevent...from syncing automatically". Then connect your phone to your computer and import them as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.
Then, to minimize data loss, follow the steps in this user tip: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141. To follow the steps, first open iTunes and go to View>Show Sidebar. Also, Transfer Purchases is now located in File>Devices.

I have a separate apple id for itunes and imessenger and facetime can i merge both and just use one?

I created a yahoo apple id as my main account on my macbook pro but then after a year it had a problem with signing in into imessenger and facetime on both my iphone and ipad so i read a solution from a thread that i need to create another id but it will be a different one and will only be used for my imessenger and facetime. When I tried associating my gmail (one i used for imessenger & facetime), I can't add it on my yahoo apple id account as it is an alternative email add. I just want to use one apple id for everything (icloud, itunes, imessenger and facetime) is there a way to do this? help me please.... thanks!

Since the cable company will always tell you that the "connection looks good", it is a good idea to verify that for yourself, if you have not already done so.
Just connect your Mac directly to the modem, check the download speed that way, and note the results. If you do not have an application to test the connection speed, you can use something like this:

Then, connect the modem to your router normally, and then connect the Mac to one of the LAN <-> Ethernet ports and check that way, and note the results. This should be about the same speed, or a bit less than the direct connection to the modem.
Then, power off the router and power it back up and try a wireless connection with the Mac relatively close to the router. You should see about 80-90% of the speed that you noted when the Mac was connected directly to the modem and the router using an Ethernet connection.
Make sure that there are no cordless phones anywhere near the router or Mac when you test the wireless connection.
Post back on your results.

Playlists on the iPhone are the same as on the iPod. Just connect the iPhone and go to the iPhone Music tab in iTunes. You can check the playlists you want on the iPhone.
One "trick" is to create a new playlist and just drag all of the music you want on the iPhone to this playlist, then sync only that playlist.
Another option is to use the "Convert higher bit rate songs to 128kbps AAC" on the iphone Summary page in iTunes. This will compress the music and you will lose some quality, but unless you are using $500 headphones you won't notice.

I have done this for several Titles, using Photoshop and a Layer Mask, that gets "erased," revealing the letters. My Titles were of "handwriting with chalk" on a blackboard, so I could keep the edge of that Layer Mask, looking more like the "chalk." Photoshop also makes it easy to output Layer Comps for each "step" in the handwriting process. IIRC, I did about 5 Frames per Layer Comp on Import, but do not recall if I used an extremely short Cross-Dissolve Transition between those - I intened to do so, but just do not remember if I liked that, or went with just the Still Images? Will try to find that animation, and maybe create a full tutorial of the process. In my case, I also added an SFX of chalk on a chalkboard.
If you have Photoshop, it's really quite easy to pull off.
Now, I do not know if Photoshop Elements has Layer Masks yet, which make it so very easy to accomplish. One could do it backward, where the Text Layer gets Erased, and then one would have their full Image as the last in the sequence, and then the next would have a little bit of the Text removed, then a bit more, then a bit more - going backward, until the "writing surface" is clean. One could also do this with a Transparent Background, so that one saw the Video below, and no actual "writing surface" visible.

Others have commented on this too. It seems to be one of the 'improvements' of the newer version you are supposed to embrace with joy as an exciting new development. You can send feedback to Apple but realize you may be perceived as standing in the path of progress.
