Is there a way to organize files by date added?

I'm trying to put a scrapbook together for a friend and am including all of the files he sent me and stuff in order of the date that he sent them...but there's only the option to organize by date modified or date created....none of which help me with this...I really need to do date added. Is there any way to do it?

I apologize if I misunderstood your question. So are you asking when someone sends you pics in a email, you want to add them to iphoto or a folder in finder by the date of the email and not the date of picture? I am not sure if this will help or maybe you already did this. I chose "quick look" at the attachment of an email with an older pic and chose the icon to add to iphoto. When I did this it created a event with todays date. The email was from Jan 4th, so it recognized todays date. Unfortunately though, when I tried this with recent pics sent to me (xmas), it created a folder based on the date the picture was taken. So I am really not sure if there is a way to do it. The only other suggestion I have, which is not the quickest. First I would create a specific folder for this project in finder. Next when you receive the email, click to save attachment. In the "save as" box, name the file the date you received it and any additional info if you want. Next find the folder you created and save in there. At least you will be able to access the pics in one place and the file name will say when you received them. I hope this helps. I am not an expert yet on my mac, but I just tried that and it worked. Good luck. Lee Ann

  • Itunes 7:  ANY WAY TO ORGANIZE PODCASTS BY DATE ADDED?

i download MANY podcasts & such each day, but i want to pick & choose what goes on my ipod...i there any way to reorganize podcasts by date added? One cannot click on that top icon to rearrange the dates...
Why did apple take away the top page click/subdivide buttons (audio/video/podcasts/etc)...ITUNES 7 does not allow you to look at your entire library @ once. It is SO MUCH more limiting now...i can ONLY look @ my library in sections!
yEP...ITUNES 7 IS HORRID...but i'm too scared to revert to 6.5, as i only have this one issue....- the great feature of itunes 6 was clicking on audio, video, podcasts, ebooks(whoa-where did they go in itunes 7!), etc. @ the top to subdivide!
      Windows XP

I have the same problem & could really use help eliminating the frustration - currently, 652 podcasts, and if I've listened to 20 or more podcasts in the last few days, I want to go to iTunes, click on the "last played" column of podcasts, and just have all the podcasts I've listened to show up at the top of the list so I can in one motion delete all of them at once.
In V6 of iTunes, the whole library showed up in one list, I could click "last played," and delete everything at once. In V7, not only can you not see your whole library, but they've removed the ability within the podcast category to click on any header except release date, which is of so little use to me. I can't imagine that was intentional, but probably a program error.
I've found a clumsy workaround for looking at everything at once - every time I add to iTunes (several new podcasts each day), I then drag them to a playlist I call "all." But that doesn't get around the deletion problem, because you can't delete anything from a playlist. Does anyone know how to either: see your whole library at once (not broken into "music, TV, movies, etc." or at least how to click on the headers within podcasts? Thanks!

  • Is there a way to upload files directly to the cloud from bridge cc?

Is there a way to upload files directly to the cloud from bridge cc? I use bridge to organize my files. It would be a lot easier if I didn't have to drag and drop files into the cc folder, I was hoping that there might be an easier way.
    thanks,

When you save them just make sure you save them to your Mac and not iCloud. For those that already exist, you can move them from iCloud by dragging and dropping them to somewhere else on your Mac. To see all the files in iCloud choose file > open in either pages or numbers.

  • HT201077 Is there a way to delete files locally, on iPad, after they have been backed up in iCloud, without losing any files?

Is there a way to delete files locally, on iPad, after they have been backed up in iCloud, without losing any files? Because iCloud is seeming like it actually doesn't back up anything.. Just clogs up all storage space on every device with duplicate images/videos. I am looking for a delete when backed up feature. Does that exist?

  • Is there a way to move files from one folder to another without copying and pasting and then going back to delete the original?

Is there a way to move files from one folder to another without copying and pasting and then going back to delete the original?  The cut and paste function is not available and there's no "move to" function.  Am I missing something?  It was so easy with Windows.

Drag the files, or press Option when pasting them; this accesses the Move To function.

  • Is there a way to transfer files from a mac-book to another computer?

I need to get files off of my damaged Macbook and I'm not sure how to do it. Is there a way to transfer files from my macbook to another computer? The damage is to the screen of my macbook and it is severe- you can only see the top left of screen, the rest is cracked/blacked out. Is there anything I can do?

If the MacBook has a FireWire port, hook it and the other computer up with a FireWire cable, start up the MacBook with the T key held down, and copy the files off.

  • Is there a way to exchange files between an iPhone and a mac?

    Hi there,
I know the iPhone does not support bluetooth (legally), but is there a way I can share files between the phone and a macbook NOT connected to the internet?
What I need to do is the following: I use the phone for work (bad choice, I know...) and need to be able to access e-mail and send files out. I am going to be away for a couple of weeks (I am based in the UK and going to Italy) and was thinking to use the phone for e-mailing (megabucks!!!) and the macbook to do some work that will need to be subsequently e-mailed, but as the iPhone does not support (legally at least) bluetooth, is there a way to load files onto the phone? I mean, it doesn't sound like rocket science.
I have to say, I am overall very disappointed with the iPhone as a tool to work with. Great for games, etc., but not for work. I am really tempted to toss it in the trash (or at least return it where I got it from).
I hope you can give me some good news here...
Besides as a general observation, I have been spending HOURS scouring the internet trying to find solutions to some basic issues I have with the iPhone... A piece of kit that is as expensive as all that should not be so difficult to use especially if all I am trying to get what would be considered a common feature in all bog standard phones, but that's another story... At least I have the digital compass and I can check stocks and shares to make me feel better...
    Thanks

I guess I'm confused then. DocsToGo and AirShare Pro both allow you to set up an adhoc network (direct wifi-based connection between the laptop and your iPhone, no wifi router/cell data connection required). You can then pass the documents back and forth between the two devices. I prefer DocsToGo, because it also allows you to edit/sync the docs back and forth. Is this not what you want to do? You can also email the document from within DocsToGo on the iPhone if desired.
If you want to upload/download using a service like DropBox (which will also require a data connection, either WiFi or cell-based) DocsToGo can access that cloud-based service.
Note that I'm NOT affiliated with DocsToGo, but I did read the instructions to find out all the stuff it can do

  • Is there a way to edit files?

Is there a way to edit files in iTunes? What I would like to do, in one or two cases, is keep half a file.
For example, I have one file which consists of an interview followed by a song, I'd like to discard the interview but keep the song.

That's helpful, thanks. Is there a way of getting rid of the unwanted portion, so as to save memory?

In Lion 10.7.5 when viewing files/folders in column view, if I select arrange by name it does not sort the names alphabetically.  Is this a bug or is there a way to view files in alphabetical order in column view?

I've been using Column View for years and have it set to None:
It has always shown in alphabetical order automatically.

  • Is there a way to organize shared folios in the content viewer app?

I have quite the collection of folios that have been shared with me. My list has grown quite a bit and it's getting harder to find certain folios in the Content Viewer App on my iPad. The ordering seems to be somewhat random. Is there any way to organize the list of folios? Bonus Question: Any way to create folders and place certain folios inside of folders?
    Thanks!

    Use library filters.

Create an album and place into it any pictures you like. You can even place every single picture in your iPhoto library into it. The pictures can then be organized in any arbitrary way you wish within that album.

Well, I think I know why the rules are not working. The alias mailbox is being listed as another mail folder  and not as an actual inbox so the rules are not being applied. While I wish the rules would work, I will continue to manually mark some of the emails as spam.
As for the second issue with emails vanishing, I am waiting to see if it happens again. I think it must happen when it is syncing the data but I am not sure that it happens all the time. Today the previous emails seem to be their and it grabbed the new email so I don't know what happened with the vanishing email. Anyway this can be closed since I believe the main issue has been solved as being a setup issue with Yahoo alias email account.

No - not at the present time anyway.
Organize the photos on your computer before transferring the photos to your iPad.

  • Is there a way to Move files to the iCloud thus freeing up disk space on my Mac? Or does iCloud only sync (replicate) files between my Mac and the cloud?

Is there a way to Move files to the iCloud thus freeing up disk space on my Mac? Or does iCloud only sync (replicate) files between my Mac and the cloud? I want to free up disk space on my Mac and assumed that the icloud would be a good way to do this, but having 'moved' 70Gb of files to the iCloud drive (I've upgraded to 200Gb storage) my Mac is still nearly full and I've realised that it seems to just Sync files just like dropbox.

So, the big question is did the Apple guys confirm that this is how the new iCloud drive should be working?  I'm guessing, from your response, that this is indeed the case.  Are they going to fix this anytime soon?  I thought that this was a new function of the iCloud drive in Yosemite.
I just want an online storage facility to back up my photo & music collections.  I did look at Dropbox as they have a good deal going with their Dropbox Pro, however this is still just a sync service where the Master files reside on your local disk drive - although I have read that there may be a way to work around this.  Still not ideal.
