Is there a way to revert to 3.1.3?

I updated my iPhone 3GS to v4.0.0 and is was lagging ever since...
so is there a way to go back to ver.3.1.3?
or maybe anyone knows when will the next update will be out?

seems like this ios4 is a complete failure to us! I dun understand why apple would wanna launch an untested product in the market without resolving them! before ios4, my 3gs were working well. after ios4, my bluetooth headset, extremely high volume of drop calls, totally no data connection though signal bar shows full, all photo sync into my iphone which were previously taken with high resolution camera and were displayed very sharply now becomes very blur! I also hope they will do something about it and allow us to revert to our previous firmware instead of using something which seems to be more degrading!

  • Is there a way of reverting back to previous firefox version

I use firefox extensively for development. I use firebug and dojo. It seems that the new version (Firefox 4) is far slower than the previous version and sometimes hangs completely. I believe this may be caused by Firebug doing a lot of work but it never used to happen. Also firebug doesn't quite seem to work as well with dojo script. Previously if you did a dojo.require to drag in a js script file then you could automatically see it through firebug. Now have to put files I want to debug with script tags. Is there a way of reverting back to previous firefox version?

No need to re-install plugins or extensions.
You can install them both but there are a few steps to take.
When you install the second version of Firefox use the custom installation option and choose a different location to install Firefox.
In order to use both versions, you need to create a new profile for the second version of Firefox (Firefox stores user data in the profile). Using the same profile with different versions can cause problems. Once you create a new profile you can copy certain data such as bookmarks and passwords between them. You can also use Firefox Sync to keep the profile synchronized. Finally, you will need to set up shortcuts to launch the correct profile for each version.
The following links show how to do this:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Creating_a_new_Firefox_profile_on_Windows
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Shortcut_to_a_specific_profile
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox
    * https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/firefox-sync (only needed for Firefox 3.6, it is built into Firefox 4)
An alternative way of testing Firefox 4 is to install the portable version on your hard drive. It will use its own profile folder and not interfere with the other version of Firefox. You can get the portable version from http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable

  • Is there a way to revert to the original form responses in Forms Central?

I was reviwing responses in Forms Central, and I noticed a few cells had been shaded as "Manually edited." I am the only person with access to our responses, so I'm guessing that as I was using my scroll button on my mouse, I accidentally changed something. (My mouse has been acting up lately, and the computer has registered a double click when I only single clicked.)
Is there a way to revert back to the original form responses? I caught this too late for be able to just use "undo."

    HI,
    >> but it only let me go back one step. It didn't let me go back any further.
OK, then maybe you made (by accident) some changes prior to your current editing session. You might have edited the form, made 'change1', closed the form, and reopened it. At this point you cannot use Edit / Undo to undo 'change1'.
It looks like you need to undo your changes manually. You could take a look at the View Responses table history to see what you had before.  At the View Responses tab, click on the clock-history icon on your lower right corner, you will see the History bar and you can select a previous version to see.
    Thanks,

As the last post suggests, call Apple and order a replacement original disc for about $17.  They will ask you the model and serial numbers.
Your retail version of Snow Leopard OS 10.6.3 will not work on that Mac as it requires a minimum of OS X 10.6.7 to boot and operate.
Another alternative is to again borrow another Mac to install your retail Snow Leopard into an external HD or partition, upgrade it to 10.6.8 and then clone it back to a partition on your MBP.

  • Is there a way to revert to Lion?

Is there a way to revert to Lion from Mountain Lion?
Mountain Lion is an ongoing disaster for me.  Time Machine doesn't work right, I am unable to Restore, unable to reinstall anything meaningful from Time Machine backups and unable to pull my data from Time Machine into a clean install.  What makes it more frustrating is that I see many similar questions here in the groups and on the 'net, but no usable fixes.  Even pondini's helps have gotten me nowhere.
This is the first time in 16 years that I've been unhappy with an Apple product and right now I wish I'd left Lion installed and sat Mountain Lion out.  I've literally wasted WEEKS trying to find workarounds for things that have traditionally just worked.

The best what you can do - Clean install of Lion. (i agree with you about Mountain Lion, but Lion is more rubbish than ML, i think Snow Leopard is still the top of the hill

Back to Snow Leopard from Lion install method
Read and print out these instructions, your computer is going to be offline and you wil be cutoff from help until your machine is restored.
Clear the Desktop, Downloads and Trash of anything you wish to keep by placing their files in the respective Documents, Music, Pictures, Movie folders.
If you have a TimeMachine drive, update it and disconnect for the duration of this restore time. It will be your second backup system and will have to be wiped and setup again after successfully going back to Snow Leopard if it was connected to the OS X 10.7 boot drive. If it wasn't, then leave it disconnected without updating to Lion.
Backup ALL your Users folders (Documents, Pictures, Movies, Music etc) manually (drag and drop methods) to a (not TimeMachine) external powered drive (HFS+ journaled formatted in Disk Utility) and disconnect, your going to be wiping the entire disk of ALL DATA. (warning, everything will be gone and not recovered)
    Here we go!
Hold c and boot off the 10.6 installer disk that comes with your computer and second screen in just STOP.
Look at the Utilities Menu for Disk Utility.
On the left is the name of your hard drive maker, click it and Erase (format HFS+ Journaled), give it the same name as before, and click Erase...
This should wipe the drive of ALL partitions (GUID, OS X and 10.7 Recovery, Windows if present)
When it's done, quit and install OS X 10.6. Then install all your programs from fresh sources and validate/update.
When you setup a first account, use the same user name as before, this way you can simply drag and drop the content of your previous Users folders from the external drive right back into the new Users folders and everything should work peachy. Links in iTunes to music, playlists and iPhoto links especially.
Update OS X to 10.6.8 using the Combo Update for best results.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
(Note: If your original machine had 10.5 and you want the free iLife that comes with the disks with the computer, then you'll have to install 10.5 first using the same c boot/erase/format methods as above, then update to 10.6 via the disk, then Combo Update 10.6.8)
Final step optional but highly receommended.
A lot of people use a Carbon Copy Clone of their boot drive to a HFS+Journaled external drive as a "hold the option key" bootable backup in case something goes wrong with their boot drive or need to restore to a previous OS X version..  (in addition to TimeMachine drive for more immediate backups.)
It's not advised to have a Bootable Clone and a TimeMachine partition on the same external drive, as two drives gives hardware protection in case one fails.

  • Is there any way to revert to an older version of iTunes?

GoodReader (an iOS app) has a 32 bit windows program (GoodReader USB) that allows easy drag and drop transferring of folders and files between my windows computer and my iPad.
Upgrading to the newest 64 bit version of iTunes disabled the GoodReader USB transfer program.  The program doesn't think iTunes is installed (because it only works with the 32 bit version).  GoodReader hasn't upgraded the transfer program yet and I've been told they might not.  I use this program several times per week and it's a hardship to lose its functionality.
I uninstalled iTunes, downloaded a 32 bit version of iTunes and tried to install it.  Unfortunately, the install doesn't work.  The install program essentially insisted that I needed the 64 bit version.  I've reinstalled the 64 bit iTunes 12 for the time being.  Is there any way to revert to the last version of iTunes that was running on my computer.  Alternately, is there another iOS app (similar to GoodReader) with as good a USB transfer program that lefts me drag and drop folders and files onto my iPad?

    Try iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
which is a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit version of the core application, similar to previous 64-bit releases.
You may need to fully uninstall all Apple components before switching. If you run into problems see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates. Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip. Also links to the previous build if required.

Yes, you stop using the same Apple ID under Settings > iCloud.

  • I just downloaded the iOS 7, and hate it!  It looks like a child's toy phone. Is there a way to revert back to 6?

I just downloaded the latest iOS 7, and hate it!  It looks like a child's toy phone.  Also, the graphics look washed out. Is there a way to revert to the iOS 6 system, or do I move to a Samsung?

You can always go back if you want!
By that I mean go back to an iPhone 3GS, if iOS 6 is so important to you.
iOS 7 has been out for months, and not only are there hundreds of news articles aboutit, you could have easily viewed the look of the new format on the Apple website, any Apple store, or in fact any retail store that sells iPhones.
Unfortunately, at this point, you have only yourself to blame if you dislike the 'look' of iOS 7.

  • Ok, so while we all wait for ever, is there a way to revert back to the previous os and data?

Ok, so while we all wait for ever, is there a way to revert back to the previous os and data?  I could wait a week for this mess to get worked out and I need my telephone. problem is I'm stuck in the loop too.  will not connect and there I have a brick.  sort of a shoot yourself in the foot process if you have a wiped phone previous to updating it.  useless
anyone know how to revert?  Verizon btw, had 4.2.10, tried for ios 5, tried for the gold, no win
    Thx

I'm seriously thinking of downgrading back to Mavericks for one very specific reason - the Mail app. As a long-time Mail user, I've always had the Address Panel open down the left side of the Mail app, selected from the Window/Address Panel menu item. It showed a simple list of all contacts, or groups, and only the email address(es) associated with each one. Could select a group then click BCC or TO: or whatever.  Could also select multiple addresses and pop them into the CC: list or wherever you liked. And within a Group (eg Work) could do multiple select, and also choose which email address to use for those who have more than one (eg work vs personal).
But - Apple seems to have removed it in Yosemite. The Mail app has NO WAY - at least that I can find - to access a simple list of contacts and email addresses from within the Mail app. What an absolutely stupid move, unless it's just me being dense and can't find it!
If anyone can point me to where or how to show that Address Panel in the Mail app, I'd be most grateful. Having Contacts app open all the time just doesn't cut it either, apart from not enough screen real estate. Contacts won't show you a simple list of people and email addresses like the Address Panel in Mail did. It shows you the full details, one at a time, for each contact. Which is absolutely NO good if I have to send out emails to 50 work colleagues, for example.
Why does Apple DO stuff like this? Like removing the sidebar in iTunes, for another example?
If I can't find an Address Panel for Mail, I'm going back to Mavericks.  Anyone got any clues?

  • HT4591 I have a project that I made in Motion 5.0.1.  I have updated to Motion 5.0.4 since, but the project will no longer open.  Is there a way to revert to Motion Version 5.0.1 at least temporarily so that I can access the project and add a few polishes

It seems that the 5.0.1 project file has become corrupt.  It was generated on an older MacBook Pro Model (2008) and occasionally acted unpredictably.  We have since upgraded hardware and are working on a much more robust machine, but we need to access this project file to make some final tweaks for the client.
Is there a way I could revert to Motion 5.0.1 and access this file for the final tweaks?  After these, that project will be laid to rest and I will no longer need an older version of the program.
Thank you so much for your help guys!  We love Motion.  This is the only issue we've ever run into with the program.
    Best,
    Konstantin

I had a problem with a 5.0.3 project that would cause 5.0.4 to crash. Apple asked for a copy of the project and later told me it was because there were some empty text layers. Apple is aware of the issue and is working on a fix.
In my case I still had 5.0.3 on another Mac and could clean up the project. If empty text layers might be the problem, do you know someone with an earlier version who could open it and remove the empty layers? I'd be willing to give it a try if you'd want to send me the project.

  • Is there a way to revert my 6th generation iPod Nano to version 1.0?

I updated my iPod Nano (6th gen) to version 1.1 when it became available, what, well over a year ago so, it may be too late.
I was estatic when I received my iPod nano and used it all the time...until Apple issued software update 1.1.  Now the thing is worthless to me.  It's a pain to navigate, I cannot put the icons where I want to.  The list goes on.  It sits on my desk gathering dust.
Is there any way, after a year or more and a switch to a different computer, that I can revert this back to version 1.0?

Nevermind.  Apparently, if you have too much music on the device, the iOS doesn't function correctly.  Ran a restore and reloaded the thing with much less music and it works as it should now.

  • Is there a way to revert to the previous version of the podcast app?

I really hate the new podcast app version 1.2.1. There has to be a way to revert to the previous version. Don't know why Apple doesn't offer it's users the option of staying with the version that we prefer. We're asked to update without knowing if we'll like the new version. No trial period - just take a chance. I did, and I regret it. I will never click on an update again. I went from loving Apple to hating them overnight.
There must be a work-around somewhere. Please help if you can.

Thanks for the response. Not sure if it's backed up, and not sure how to locate if it is. I downloaded the update directly onto ipod touch - and when I re-synched apps from itunes library to try to install previous ver.  it changed to the new podcast ver. 1.2.1. Several moths ago I reverted to an older v. of itunes library(10.0?) through a folder called "previous itunes libraries" in my itunes folder - but I don't remember what I did - someone instructed me. Any chance of that containing older podcast v?
Unfortunately I'm not too tech savvy
