Is there a way to run the PCDCheckTool silently?

We have found it very useful to periodically execute the PCDCheckTool delivered in Note 1086644 to determine whether or not we have inconsistencies in the database with PCD objects. Our portal administrators would like to have this check performed occasionally (once a month) to determine whether or not issues exist. I was giving it some thought and I would like to build this check into the cron job scheduler on the host however I have not been able to find any documentation that supports the tool and how I may be able to pass variables to it in order for it to run silently in the background. I am wondering if others have addressed this need and could offer any suggestions. If some of you are unaware of the tool, it works like this.
first, you must set your external environmental variable for DISPLAY
next, you change directory to /usr/sap/<SID>/JC00/j2ee/PcdSupportTools you should find the script 'PcdCheckTool.sh'
then, you pass the values of 'add check' and then command 'check' and it outputs the results to a text file under logs
This sounds simple however, incorporating so that it can run silently is not as intuitive as I'd like.
Any thoughts?

Just thought I would add to this thread, as some people may find it useful.
To perform a scheduled PCD check, just do the following:
cat > commands.in
add check
check
exit
^D
Then, you can execute the check tool as follows:
./PcdCheckTool.sh < commands.in > commands.out
You can then schedule this command to run anytime you want, using either 'at' or 'cron'. Note that I'm assuming a Unix-type operating system.

I want to run the datasocket server from the LabVIEW program and is there any command to do this. Because, I built one application vi and this vi is link with another vi using datasocket.So every time before i run the program, i need to run the data socket server. In the examples\comm folder there is a file called datasktxwin.llb In that library open e.g. DS 3D Graph Writer...launch it and you will see that it launches the data socket server. Take a look at the code and you'll find a VI that launches the server; "Launch DS server if Local URL.vi".
If you know the path to the server executable you can always launch it using the System Exec.vi from the communication palette too. The typical command line would then be:
C:\Program Files\National Instruments\DataSocket\cwdss.exe

Is There a Way to Run a Redo log for a Single Tablespace?

I'm still fairly new to Oracle. I've been reading up on the architecture and I am getting the hang of it. Actually, I have 2 questions.
1) My first question is..."Is there a way to run the redo log file...but to specify something so that it only applies to a single tablespace and it's related files?"
So, in a situation where, for some reason, only a single dbf file has become corrupted, I only have to worry about replaying the log for those transactions that affect the tablespace associated with that file.
2) Also, I would like to know if there is a query I can run from iSQLPlus that would allow me to view the datafiles that are associated with a tablespace.

No You can't specify a redolog file to record the transaction entries for a particular tablespace.
In cas if a file gets corrupted.you need to apply all the archivelogs since the last backup plus the redologs to bring back the DB to consistent state.

In your case you have created the tablespace iwth one datafile.

Nevermind, I got it working.
I ended up extracting the new vob within MPEG Streamclip, which gave me an m2v and an aiff audio. I multiplexed those two back together in FFMpegX which gave me a complete VIDEO_TS folder with BUP and IFO files I needed.

Is there a way to affect the URL used when running a report subscription?

We are using SQL Server 2008 R2. I am finding out that when running a report subscription to extract a file in csv format, an extra blank line is created at the bottom (i.e., extra line feed), and the mysterious BOM characters also get inserted at
the beginning. Both of these "features" are causing problems with a client's import of these files. Of course, it affects multiple clients.
I have done some research and have found information on how to edit the rsconfigserver file to render CSV files using ASCII and to not use Excel formatting. This removes both "features"/problems stated above.
However, editing the server config file will affect all csv extractions on that report server. Is there a way to control the URL of a specific report subscription to include these values (so only the reports that need the fix get it)? For example,
someone gave this URL as an example of how to add parameters including encoding in the URL. http://MyReportServer/ReportServer?%2fReport+Folder%2fReportName&rs:Command=Render&rs:Format=CSV&rc:Encoding=ASCII
Is there a way to have the report subscription run the report using a URL like this so it extracts it without the BOM characters? I was thinking a data driven subscription would allow me to set the values like this, but these parameters are only pertinent
AFTER the report is run and only needed for the final rendering. Not sure how to do this. Maybe it's not possible. If it's not, that's fine. I just need to write a proposal to our DBA's to talk them into making a couple edits to the server config
file.

According to your description, you want to have some report exported into CSV file with ASCII encoding when running a subscription. Right?
In Reporting Services, when we run the subscription, it will call the Render Extension as we configured in rsreportserver.config file, we can't set the Render format with ASCII Encoding on subscription level. As you said, the Render Extension we configured
in the rsreportserver.config will apply to all reports. In this scenario, you only want that extension apply to specific reports. For your requirement, we suggest you add a custom Render Extension in configure file. You just need to copy the CSV Extension
and add a <OverrideNames/> to override a new name. Then set the <Encoding> in <Configure>. And you can select this custom Extension when creating the subscription. This might be the most effective workaround.

Is there a way to have the Filters in Analysis be ignored when rpt is run?

When i'm creating/testing a new report in the Analysis in OBIEE (11g ver), i'm generating some charts and graphs in a potential report which sift through large amounts of data. But when i'm creating/editting, i just want to filter on something specific so when i return to the analysis, its quick. However, when i launch the report in the dashboard, i dont want that filter being applied -- i want the prompts i've set to do all the filtering. And as i return to the analysis mode, my filter would be there still and applied so i don't have to wait long for it to render. Is there a way to have the Filters in the analysis be ignored when the report is run in the Dashboard or run outside of being in the analysis mode?

As far as I have experience working with OBIEE. Any filters you create in reports inline are overwritten by filters in the dashboard prompt, if they created with the same columns and presentation tables. To stop this behavior, there is an option to mark your inline report filter as Protected, so it won't be overwritten. You should try though.

You should definitely use a thread pool for this. You can specify maximum number of threads that can be run. Be note that the thread pool will only limit the number of threads that are submitted to it. So donot call "Thread"s start() method to start thread on your own. Submit it to the pool. To know more, study about executor service and thread pool creation. Actually it will not be more than 20 line code for a class and you might need maximum of 2 such classes, one for threadPool and other one for rejection handler (if you want).
Just choose the queue used carefully, you just have to pass it as a parameter to the pool.
You should use "Bounded" queue for limiting threads, but also be careful in using queues like SynchronizedQueue as the queue will execute immediately the threads submitted to it if maximum number of threads have not been running. Otherwise it will reject it and you should use rejection handler. So if your pool has a synchronized queue of size 100, if you submit 101th thread, it will be rejected and is not executed.
If you want some kind of waiting mechanism, use something like LinkedBlockingQueue. What this will do is even if you want 100 threads, you can specify the queue's size to be 1000, so that you can submit 1000 threads, only 100 will run at a time and the remaining will wait in the queue. They will be executed when each thread already executing will complete. Rejection occurs only when the queue oveflows.
