Is there a way to trigger an action on or after a specific date?

Hi,
I wanted to set up AS3 to trigger an action on or after specific dates (quarterly, 1/1, 4/1, 7/1, 10/1). Is this possible?
I can script getting today's date, but I am not sure how to script: if today's date is greater than or equal to (>=) one of these quarterly dates (greater than is essential since the video may not run on the specified date, so greater than is needed). Year is not needed, since the goal is quarterly action. But, would need to start over each new year, so quarterly action continues each year. Can't seem to get my brain around how to construct this and how to script it.
Any help appreciated.

if you can accept the user's date, you can compare the user's date's time property with your date's time property:

do you want to have a link the ITS page which calls a BSP page or do want a simple call the ITS url should redirect you to BSP page?
for your explanation i understand that calling a ITS service should automatically redirect to BSP page - in such a case you can just use url redirection by using meta tag or reidrect using javascript.

Is there a way to get a user login record after sleep?

I know that by opening terminal and typing in "last" (without the quote marks) that it will give me about a 3 week record of who has logged on my computer after shutdowns and restarts.
What I want to know is this:
a) Is there a way to get a user login record after the computer only goes to sleep?
b) is there a way to get the terminal to go back further than just 3 weeks or so for the shutdown/restart records?
Is there software that might do this???

My computer possibly could be used by a few other people that have access to my computer password (don't ask why) and I basically want to know if they are signing on when I am away from my desk.
You may want to look at /var/log/asl.log or /var/log/secure.log which contain details of
authentication attempts (which is what you are doing) and failures.
I am not asking why you have multiple people accessing your computer with your password --
but consider setting up separate username, it is a lot easier to manage and you will probably
not be asking questions like this one.

In fact, it would be cool if text-to-speech highlighted each word that is being spoken through out the document during dictation and you could rewind, pause or fastforward the speech in real-time. Is this feature available? if not, can anyone recommend any other programs that can do this?

Yes!
With fully modern Cocoa applications (like Safari, Preview, TextEdit, and Mail) you can select the line or page and then from the application menu > Services > Speech > Start Speaking Text
You can also select and then Control-Click on the selection and then pick Speech > Start Speaking Text from the contextual menu. (Works with Safari, TextEdit, and Mail, but not Preview for PDF.)

No, but you can get somewhat close to this ideal by using VoiceOver and checking Show Caption Panel.

Before archiving you have to put the Deletion flag for the object(May be for PO, MMR etc as per your req.)...
After that the you use the archiving procedure to archive the docs which are already flagged for deletion...
For MMR you use the transaction SARA...and its respective object for the archiving....
You can use the SDN search to see the many threads on it...

Our database is quite big and everything works OK and very fast, except SQL jobs which are used mainly for maintenance purposes.
I have one specific job which runs for 2 minutes and takes a lot of resources which may affect execution of other stored procedure which should be executed fast.The worst part is that this job has to be executed during the most active working hours. It does
not matter for me how long will it take to execute this job. I just do not want it to use so much resources.
Also I noticed when SQL backup job (takes about 4 minute) is scheduled it also takes a lot of resources and sometimes because of that I am receiving "login timeout" error on my web site.

depending on you sql server version and edition, you can use resource governor and limit the cpu and memory.
in most typical cases , you can use the session user name and times and classify the how much cpu and memory they can use. refer : https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc645892.aspx
but in your case, the problem seems to be with the maintenance jobs which could run as sql server service account.
also, if the backup are third party tool backup, you can specify the priority level and other options etc to make it less priority.
it is possible to do that even with native backups such as specifying the limiting buffercount, max transfer size, if the server is memory pressured. sometimes, stripping the backups to multiple sets across different devices, could help as well. even though
stripping the backups can introduce another complexity.
may be you need to rethink you back up\recovery strategy.

That's a good suggestion, and it's something that we're already planning on addressing in the next release, probably via a service that you can use to view information about patches and notifications -- not only the ones that were known at the time that you installed, but also ones that might have come into existence since then.

Is there a way to trigger batch process via Applescript or Javascript?

Based on what I've found so far on the internet, the answer is no. The Applescripts I've found so far that attempt to run a batch process don't work for me in either Acrobat Pro 8 or Pro 9.
I've been using Applescript to automate a process that starts in InDesign (create PDFs), then goes to Acrobat to set open options (I've got a batch process for that but can't find a way to trigger it). If I can get that to work, I'll attempt to automate the task of using a Photoshop droplet to create JPEGs of a specific size from these PDFs.
I've settled on InDesign CS3 for creating single-page PDFs from a multiple-page document, partly because I could not find a scriptable way to do this in Acrobat. I know just enough about Applescript to be dangerous. I know much less about Javascript.
Any help would be appreciated.

We have several "developers" working on Captivate files. It looks like I am going to need to do some of the advanced actions on other people's files. Is there a way to export from mine into theirs

One of my most urgents feature requests, but not yet there. I suspect it it mostly due to the fact that each object in CP needs its own unique ID, and that makes transferring advanced actions that do often reference objects pretty complicated. Nevertheless expect, hope that it will be possible in a future release.
Only way to transfer advanced actions is using a template as I demonstrated in this old blog post:
Template for reusing script
Your project has to be based on that template to have the advanced actions available. There is no apparent way to make a template out of a CP-file, but usually just changing the extension of the CP-file from cptx to cptl will provide you with a template
Of course you have to be very careful with the ID's as I started to explain.
