If it is a complete address, and is formated properly, it should appear as a link. Tap on it and it will open the Maps App.

Is there a text to speech app that can read text books to me?

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
You don't need an app for that text to speech is biult into OS X.

  • Does anyone know of an iPad app that can lock the iPad after a period of months (i.e., 6 months)?

Does anyone know of an iPad app that can lock the iPad after a period of months (i.e., 6 months)? I am looking to give ipads to contestant participants and need a way to automatically lock the device once the set duration (measured in days, weeks, months or years) is complete. Does anyone know of an iPad app that locks the device after a period longer than 24 hours (ike most parental control apps)??
    Thanks for any help!!

It's called "SelfControl". It can be a little hard to learn to use but it's worth the effort.

  • I have a .mov file that is 59 gigs.  Is there a converter that can reduce the file size with minor resolution loss so I can import it into final cut express?

I have a .mov file that is 59 gigs.  Is there a converter that can reduce the file size with minor resolution loss so I can import it into final cut express?

Open the file in QuickTime Player. Then do Tools > Show Movie Inspector.  What does it say for Format and FPS?
At 59GB, I suspect you have either a 4 hour DV video or a 1+ hour video that was converted to Apple Intermediate Codec.   If it's either of those, you can import it directly into FCE provided you select the appropriate Easy Setup first.  Your clips have to match the properties of the Easy Setup you are using.
If it's neither DV or AIC then you need to convert it to one of those codecs.  (QuickTime/DV or QuickTime/AIC)  Many people in this forum rely on MPEG Streamclip (it's free and works great).

Looking for a stopwatch app that can run on iPod Touch 2nd Gen (using ios 4.2.1), do any exist?

To more easily find compatible apps:
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

FM transmitter is an interesting one though - I feel that its totally out of place in a business oriented product like the N97, as is the N-Gage support out of the box.
You mean that no "business oriented" person listents to music or plays games? Most "business oriented" persons also have a life.
Nevertheless, the N97 is more "entertainment oriented" than "business oriented" as far positioning goes.
Note also things like the clearly more "consumer oriented" E63 even if it is Eseries.
In any case, you can't put a single lable over any individual user (sometimes the person is working, sometimes playing, sometimes doing business and at other times not).

  • An app that can read CT Scan(s) data

    Hi -
I had some CT scans done and when I asked if I could see the images, they simply gave me 3 disks. When I asked what type of file they were (i.e., JPEG images, PDFs, etc.) and if I needed a 3rd party app to view them -- AND if so, if they were exclusively for the Windows platform — the technician sounded clueless. He just said, "you just pop the disk into your computer and it should read them."
I told him about the platform differential ("I use a Mac") and he sort of mumbled something which told me he didn't know.
As I feared, as soon as I got home and popped in the disk on my iMac, I saw all these "autorun.bat" and ".exe" file extensions. So when I opened the Readme files, sure enough...WindowsLand.
I Googled "+how to view CT scan data images on a Macintosh+" and found a couple of apps, but none of them worked.
Does anyone know of a plug-in or an application that can read these files? There are so many (under numerous subfolders), that I don't even know which one to open.
    Thanks.

    HI,
You need a medical specific software to read those files with. I discovered this myself. My partner needed c-scans which he did but everytime we went to see another specialist, we had to wait for the original scans to be sent to the new doctor. Instead, they burned those files to a CD and even though I could not read them on my Mac, I was able to upload them to my iPod. That way anytime we visited another doctor, all they had to do was download the scans to their computer from my iPod (firewire). Doesn't matter if they are .exe or not, you can still use an iPod or possibly a flash drive for convenient storage. It saved time and money.
Since you have the files, at least you have them for future use.
Even if you could find that software, it would be really expensive.

  • Is there any apps that can search songs according to tempo and key?

Is there any apps/widgets/software/website that can search songs according to tempo and key? thanks a lot.

What issues are you experiencing with iOS 7? Let's try to solve them instead of trying to downgrade. As Stedman pointed out, you cannot downgrade anyway.

  • Is there a Mac app that can do the same as DriveSort does for Windows?

I am considering moving from Windows to Mac, but first, I need to make sure that I can still do all I need to do in the Mac world as I do with Windows today.
One question, I can't seem to answer is a silly one, but important to me.
I keep my music in my car on a flash drive with 700+ songs on it.  However, since the flash drive is formated in FAT, it sorts the music by the order the computer decided to save them in.
To fix the order, I use DriveSort (http://www.anerty.net/software/file/DriveSort.php)  but it only runs in Windows.
Is there a Mac application that does the same? I don't care if it is free or not.
    Thanks.

It's not a question of how you can sort in the Mac.  It's a matter of how it writes files to a FAT  based flash drive.  The cars stereo will sort  the flash drive by the order the files were written in and not by any order the OS has sorted it.  This is the same in Windows and Mac, so a utility to "sort" the flash drive.  DriveSort does this perfectly, but they don't have a Mac version.  I'm looking for a Mac version of this type of software.  Surely someone in the Mac world must have run into this flash drive problem and found a fix......

    Hi everyone,
I downloaded several apps from Ovi store, but since upgrading my phone's firmware (at Nokia's request) I have lost my purchases, and can't redownload them. Does anyone know how I can access them again?
I tried contacting Nokia support via their UK website, and initally got a very friendly response, but as my request was bounced between several departments emails became less frequent, and eventually the correspondence stopped. Furthermore, my requests for updates on their progress have been repeatedly ignored.
That was nearly three months ago.
I provided all the account, purchase, and technical details Nokia asked for within a few hours of Ovi support requesting them, but have had nothing in return. Does anyone know how I can get support to listen to me? If anyone from Nokia reads is reading this, could you please process my request? Or at least give me an update?
I'm normally a huge fan of Nokia's products, but unfortunately have to report that their "support" is amongst the worst I have ever encountered.
For the record, the apps I purchased were Tetris, Bejeweled and Best Timer.
    Regards,
    Andrew
    Hello FluidDruid,
I have sent links to download your purchased applications Bejeweled, Tetris and Best Timer to your device. Please send me a pm if you need anything else.
    Thank you,
    congested
    Thanks!
It's a shame that it took a post on a discussion board to get this resolved, when going through the correct channels failed, but everything is working now, so that's the main thing.

  • App that really reads the body of emails on z10?

I had vlingo for my storm 2 and upgraded to the z10. I purchased be buzz because it said it reads emails but it only reads the subject of the emails not the body like vlingo or drive carefully did on the storm. Does anybody have suggestions about using be buzz since they don't respond to inquiries or an alternative app that I can try? Thanks.

    Read Aloud is in AppWorld.
If you search in AppWorld on "Text to voice" you'll find others.

  • Is there a plugin that can copy the coordinates of a selection to the clipboard?

Is there a plugin in existance, that I can make a selection in Photoshop and then copy the coordinates of that selection to the clipboard?
I am a texture artist and frequently lay a number of graphics out in one file, before typing out the coordinates for each element. Currently this is a slow manual task, but could be made so much faster if I didn't have to type everything out.
    Thanks,
    Matt

I have to admit to not fully understanding your work flow, but to the extent I do Here is what I suggest:
I would open your image and create a new action and start recording. I would then create the rectangular selections in sequence and stop recording when you are done. Then I would save the action as a text file. The resulting text file for a test image, having created three different rectangular selections, looks like this:
    Action: Action 1
            Set Selection
                To: rectangle
                Top: 0.451 Inches
                Left: 0.917 Inches
                Bottom: 0.559 Inches
                Right: 1.017 Inches
            Set Selection
                To: rectangle
                Top: 0.767 Inches
                Left: 0.892 Inches
                Bottom: 0.868 Inches
                Right: 0.986 Inches
            Set Selection
                To: rectangle
                Top: 1.108 Inches
                Left: 0.885 Inches
                Bottom: 1.201 Inches
                Right: 0.986 Inches
You can use this  for the rest of your process.
To make things easier you should clear all actions before creating your new action or the text file will contain all of the active actions and you would have to hunt for the new action in the text file.
    Hope this helps.
