Is there any way to recover files from the guest account on a Mac, after the machine has been logged out?

I had uploaded some photos onto iPhoto on the guest account for my visitors, intending to burn them on departure.
I updated my Mac with a system software update, which required reboot so I of course types in the admin username/password to do so.
I received no warning message "caution: all temporary files in guest account will be deleted if you logout" as if you logout directly from the guest account, so I had forgotten about the guest account wipe.
Just today I switched to the guest user, and was dismayed to find the files gone.
Surely there must be some way to recover these files? Can anyone help?!

They possibly still exist on the hard drive if you haven't overwritten that space already.
Your only hope is to try a file recovery program like Data Rescue 3 or some sort like that.
(note: the product linked to is an example of the suggested kind of software that may help you; it is not in any way my recommendation or endorsement of the product. I haven't used this product and can't comment on its effectiveness).

I returned the phone without realizing my backup was incomplete. Is there anyway to access the files from the incomplete backup? It shows 3.7 gigabytes were backed up.

I'm not sure if they recover optical media either. Will have to look more carefully at their site.
But the fact that there are many PC optical media recovery programs that feature optical media recovery leads me to doubt that Data Rescue can do it.

I have a desktop app built in AIR using the 2009 namespace. Is there any way to incorporate any of the of the xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" components into it?
Or better yet, since the AIR namespace is sort of layered on top of the spark namespace, is it possible to do the same with the 2006 namespace?

The thing is: I love AIR, hate spark, loved the 2006 pre-spark functionality. It is so much more convenient and user friendly. Given the choice between having the display seperate from the processing, or having it be convenient and easy to work with, I choose the later option.
For the most part it seems like the AIR api is like a layer on top of the spark - flex system.. I would like to be able to over lay the same AIR functionality on top of the the old system....

I was wondering if there is a way to search ibookstore from safari or something other than itunes. I really find itunes search chaotic since it returns results for movies, apps, music, podcast and tvshows when I am simply trying to find a book.

I liked your fix, but after an input of:

...the cursor in Terminal went back to a prompt (not familar with Terminal I don't know if that's good or bad), yet, still nothing on the backspace. The backspace has become such a habit and now a clunky break in my workflow, I'd sure like to figure out what the fix might be.

Please Help Me Is there any way of recovering files from time machine

Recently had a new hard drive fitted,tried to restore files from time machine,but failed went to Apple store with my imac and time machine.
They said use migration app, needed to add a new user profile to do this.
When entering time machine there were lots of previous backups, Still didnt restore everything and when it did it said did not have permission to open them.
Anyway have deleted the later user profile from my mac and now my time machine only goes back to two weeks ago.
is there anyway that i canrecover what seems to be lost files as I have lost photos,movies etc

Since you haven't upgraded your iPhone from 4.3 there will also not be an iCloud back-up.,,, so.....
So there is no way to restore it, but before you start rekeying your contacts you should.
1. Back it up on Itunes (11.0.1) and a computer, it will help you upgrade your IOS (6.0.1) at the same time.
2. When complete ensure you have a back-up.
3. Set-up iCloud and iCloud back-up
4. Start keying....

Is there any way to retrieve files from my Original Aperture 2 library after conversion to Aperture 3?

My original conversion locked up due to damaged file. I repaired Library and process completed,I thought! Now I'm finding folders from the conversion empty. I can go back to the Original Library and use the show contents command to view the files. They are still in place, but the import process in Aperture 3 doesn't see the files to import? Any ideas on how to retrive these missing files?

Thanks for the info. I do have the Aperture 2 disc so I'll re-install and repair library then give it a go again. It will probably take a few days as I have a HUGE library. I'll let you know the outcome when it completes! Thanks again for the help.

Is there any way to remove "sudo" from the server?

sudo can do a lot of things which root can do. I tried the following to remove, but got failed message. Is there any graceful way?
Or, maybe I don't have to remove it, by default, nobody can use sudo to run root only commands, unless I give them priviledge to do so by using "visudo", right?

The idea of the sudo command is to give a user root access without the need to tell them the root password. When the user is not already root the sudo command will ask the user for the current user account password. This is to prevent that someone uses the sudo command in case your session gets hijacked. There is usually a default timeout. As long as you enter another sudo command within 5 minutes of the last sudo command, you won't have to enter your password.
The visudo command is typcially used to edit the /etc/sudoers file, which defines which users or groups are allowed to use the sudo command and to which commands or group of commands it applies. For instance if you make an entry in the /etc/sudoers file to allow a certain user to use all commands, then the user can enter "sudo su -" to become root without having to know the root password.

I hope there is as it would be a huge omission on apples part especially as we're supposed to be "post PC".

Edited images from the iPhoto app can be saved to the Camera Roll. Images from Camera Roll, Photo Stream, Synced with iTunes or just imported from a camera card can be ordered via this newly released free app:

Backup catalogs wouldn't have helped with this problem anyway, but naturally, you shouldn't delete backup catalogs for a while.
