I'm fixing a Numbers document that I use in business daily that's become overly complicated, but while I want to clear/delete a number of cells in it to clean it up, I'm not sure if those cells are being used as source for other formulas on the page. I don't have to open all my formulas one by one to see if that cell is in there, do I?! That'd be a huge amount of work if I wanted to eliminate say 10 cells to search each formula on the page to see if it is in there or watch all the cells when I delete that cell to see if the numbers change! There's got to be an easier way! Right click doesn't seem to be any help.
I don't want to damage my daily tool to make it cleaner and reorganize it. Is there really no way to do a reverse look-up of which formulas a particular cell is in?! Any time I click on a formula it highlights all the CELLS in that formula. Why can't I (or can I?) do the reverse and see all the FORMULAS that contain a particular cell?
As a Numbers document ages or gets used frequently, you can sometimes forget which cells are tied to which formulas. You just look for the results of your formulas. Would be a nice thing to be able to do. Thoughts? Work-arounds? Answers?
Answer would be no unless application provided such feature. Numbers does not as far as I know.
Note that even if you have complete list of formulae used in a table, identifying formulae referencing any given cell is not simple.
E.g., cell T20 is referenced not only in
=T20+1
but also in
=SUM(T)
=SUM(20:20)
=SUM(S19:U22)
=OFFSET(S1,19,1,1,1)
=INDIRECT("T"&(10*2))
In order to identify such formula, we have to actually evaluate it to see if it references the given cell. Especially such formula as OFFSET() and INDIRECT() may not be found by static parser because their parameters can be dynamic.

Not possible. In order to read an email in the preview pane requires opening the message. You can mark a message that you've read as unread after reading it.

Find/change across multiple docs in book without opening all first?
I am working on a book that contains hundreds of individual documents. I would like to be able to find/change globally across all documents, but as far as I can tell, I must first open all of the documents in the book so that the scope menu in the find/change dialog contains "All Documents" as an option. Needless to say, having to open more than a dozen or so documents causes my computer to bog down and it's practical.
Am I missing something here? Is there a way for me to make global search/replaces across all docs in a book without opening them? If so, how?I'm not able to check this now, but I believe that FrameMaker can open closed book documents to perform spell checking on them. FM leaves the files open, whether or not corrections were made. I'm not sure if such opened files, in which no corrections have been made, need to be saved when closing them, but the user must close them. Files that contain cross-file cross-references are by default checked for valid cross-reference links, which requires the user to choose Save or Don't Save in order to close them, even if no corrections were made. The link-checking is considered to be a change; some folks consider this a bug, others a feature.
I agree that it's a good feature to request for ID. A related feature request would be the ability to open next or previous ID files when paging through to the start or end of a file that's a member of a currently-opened book.

Chromebook wifi security/ SSID changes without touching all of them?
Hello, Looking for some advice I have searched and only found a very limited bit of information on my issue.I have recently taken over and IT department and I have 900+ Dell Chromebooks. One of my fist goals is to get rid of my open wifi connection on my network for obvious reasons. I guess the previous IT Director thought it was easier to have the AP with no encryption. I don't want to have to touch all of the chrome books. I have created another ssid and I added it in the google admin console with the password and pushed the policy update out to the test chrome book that I am using. I have also ran a policy update on the chromebook manually. The chrome book can see the new SSID however its still wants the password. Dragging files to TextEdit icon does not open all of them
Hi all,
Many times I have to work with .doc files that contain smalls amount of text to be copied and pasted. So I don't open Pages or Word, TextEdit handles this documents quite well, unless I want to open a few of them dragging their icons over the TextEdit icon in my Dock. Some will open, some will not, so finally I have to drag those that didn't open to TextEdit afterward.
Then, the files open and I continue to work with them with no problems.
This looks like a bug, is it known? How can it be reported to Apple?
THank you.The problems that you have encountered are most often caused by the CODEC that the files were encoded with. Both AVI and MOV are wrappers, and can contain a lot of different CODECs.
For the MOV, I'd look into QT-Pro for about US$39. It's just a registration key, but unlocks some decent power in QT. If the MOV plays fine in QT (Audio & Video), just do a Save_As and choose "Self-contained" MOV. Locate this in a separate folder. Then, Import these MOV files into Encore.
Personally, I'd use Premiere Pro as an intermediate step, but if you do not do any editing, Encore *should* then be able to handle everything. From PP, I'd Export as elemental streams, DV-AVI for the Video only and AC3 for the Audio only. These would get Imported into Encore.

When you see one of those mis-spelt items, highlight it and then hit the Delete key (or hit {Ctrl + Delete} on some platforms).

just got an offer from a private Person, who owns a boxed Version of Photoshop CS4 (DVD) and an Upgrade from CS4 to CS6....he told me that he can transfer the current license to me... now there's one important question for me...

ChrissOld versions of Photoshop are not marketed by Adobe. Only CS5 can be upgraded to CS6. There are many scams on the web if you find a cheap copy of Photoshop out there its most likely a scam... Be careful.....

Have MacBook Pro. Version of mac mail I now have mandates all emails open as they are scrolled through. Older versions only opened those that are clicked opened.
Yes, Thunderbird, (like dozens of email programs) can scroll through messages without opening. Though, also like many programs, it has a preview pane by default - but you can turn it off. But then perhaps there's a setting like that in what you have now?

Currently itunes tells me that my iphone is connected to a different itunes account and will sync, but delete everything from my phone. How do I make itunes sync and update my phone without deleting all the current information on my phone?
Iphone will sync with one and only one cpomptuer at a time. Syncing to another will erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer. This is the design of the iphone.
It will erase the content when you sync.

When I lauch Safari (5.1 in 10.7) I want it to open to either an empty page or a designated homepage - but istead it opens all the tabs that were open when I quit Safari. How do i stop this, I cant find any preference to achieve this and see nothing in help. Any help?
Hi James - Thanks for the info! This has been bugging me, too. I'm going to uncheck the Restore Windows box. Agree with you that it should be app specific, tho. I like opening to the last page I was working on in pages and numbers. Hope it doesn't change that!

Ok I understand the structure of the new sound setup. But when I used this on a swf that I uploaded to a different site - the sound didn't work - I didn't have the option of loading separate files to the website so the URLRequest could find the sound
