Is this a reasonable model?

Is it reasonable/possible [or against the best-practice] to set up a fast-refreshed Replication Environment model using
Personal Edition 10g R2 and Enterprise Edition 10g R2.
What would be the cost of implementation the server side replication module manually - i.e.. through the Advanced Replication API]
Thanks

My G3 is a G3 300 MT, 384 MB RAM, rev. 3. I've got the original 6 GB harddrive, and added a 120 GB Maxtor. The DVD-burner replaced the Apple CD-rom, and there's still the ZIP-drive.
I added a scsi adapter, and a USB 2.0 card. The first is connected to a RAID (7x9.2 GB scsi HD's) which is working in OS X, but not in OS 9. The second works in both X and 9, but my USB memorystick doesn't work in 9 for some reason. Not a biggie, but odd. A USB mouse works in both.
Apparently, the AHA-2940 UW only works in Windows, but I am able to use it in OS X, although the profiler doesn't show the correct model of the card.
That enough?
One thing tho, this might be because a 300 MHz Mac is just not fast enough, or the original videocard not advanced enough (I suspect the latter), I have not been able so far to smoothly play movies on DVD on the Mac. It stutters a lot.

  • Is this a reasonable transfer rate?

I am backing up my data to a new Time Capsule via ethernet. The total data is 550GB which I estimate at present speed will take 30 hours, that is approximately 18GB per hour. Is this a reasonable transfer rate or have I got something wrong?

What is this Hour Glass Model and what is the best order of dimensions in Essbase cube (Block storage model)

Dimension order has a huge impact on performance.. The worst case I ever saw was in a pre-sales situation where an outline was thrown together very quickly by someone not experienced with Essbase. A rather small retrieval took 3 minutes despite the fact that there was absolutely no data in the database! Rearranging the dimensions made retrievals instantaneous..

  • Is this a newer model????

I confess I am VERY new to anything apple. I have begun to get interested in an iPod Touch. I saw one advertised on eBay that says it is a second generation 32 GB iPod Touch. Is this a newer model or an older one? Just trying to keep my Apple naivety from resulting in my getting taken. Thanks

It's the current model if the advertisement is correct.

I have similar problem with my application. I'm using Weblogic 8.1 sp4 and MS SQL 2000 sp 3 and Hibernate 2.8 to connect to DB. Table causing exception is replicated bidirectional with transactional replication. I get trace of SQL transactions made during user logging process and noticed update querry which is rolled back. There are only select querries before. I wonder if synchronizing triggers used by replication could be the problem. Can it somehow reset the session?

  • AOP -- is this a reasonable use?

I'm a bit new to AOP (I'm using spring, if that matters), it occurs to me that data validation is a good case for using AOP. I can set a joinpoint before data is provided to an object and then have the advice be to call one or more validators on that data. The question becomes how to reasonably handle the case where validation fails. Should it perhaps throw an exception and have the interface to the object declared to indicate that the exception is possible so that the caller will handle the case where the object wants its data validated? Any thoughts here?

  • READ THIS | If your model 7200.11 Seagate Barracuda drive ST3500620AS has stopped working.

HP has finally released a firmware update for the 7200.11 Seagate Barracuda drive (affected model ST3500620AS).
If your computer has been freezing, or if your hard drive has all of a sudden stopped showing up in BIOS (BIOSHD-2 error), this firmware update might unbrick your drive and give you access to your data again.
    Find it here: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=US&swItem=vc-681...
I am going to try it on my bricked drive tonight and will let you know how it goes.

    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

So, after much heartache, many trials and moments of desperation I have succeeded in doing what every HP support person told me was impossible:
I have unbricked my drive AND have recovered ALL of my data!!!
How did I do it, you might ask? First let me tell you what happened before my joyous moment:
I have been researching the Seagate firmware issue since Decemeber and read a lot about the issues people were having and the causes for these problems. Seems like what this firmware bug does is cause one of two problems: either the drive shows up in BIOS but shows 0 capacity, or it doesn't show up in BIOS at all. It seems that the OEM drives we all have in our TouchSmarts were affeced by the latter issue (hard drive no longer showing up).  This is due to the drive getting stuck in a mode (google BSY error and you'll find the issue) which does not allow it to respond back; it is, in effect, eternally busy.
As a result of this BSY error, I could not run the newly posted HP firmware update for our Seagate drives. This is when the heartache began. After countless hours of research and digging, I came across the following forum which became my El Dorado.
    http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=128807
If the link above gets scrubbed, simply search for the title of the posting: "The Solution for Seagate 7200.11 HDDs"
This fine gentleman from Chile, South America worked it all out. I bought the parts he suggested, read the post to see if any modifications were made and decided to try what he suggested in a last ditch effort to save my data. The revised post is here:
Read this one for the step by step solution: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=128807&st=100
Basically, the tutorial walks you through the steps needed to "hack" into your hard drive's board and "talk to it directly" via Hyper Terminal (I ended up using a USB data cable for my old Siemens mobile phone, though). It took me two goes at it and a lot of patience and careful reading, but my drive came back to life!
So again, here are my details and issues for you in summary:
    Hardware:
    - HP TouchSmart IQ506
    - Seagate Barracuda drive: 500GB, ST3500620AS, model series 7200.11, HP firmware version HP24
    Problem Description:
    - The drive just stopped working
    - Booted my PC and the drive was no longer showing up in BIOS
    - Hard drive light was continuously lit
    - Hard drive made no funny clicking noises
    - The drive was not responsive to the new firmware fix (HP13 Rev. A from 6 Feb 2009)
I hope this helps someone out there. If you need any help, please contact me and I will try my best to help!
    Best Regards,
    Doon
EDIT: Of course, after I had access to the drive, I ran the new firmware update. You can get that here:

  • Is this a reasonable SSD to install in a new Macbook Pro?

    Hello all,
I have never owned an apple laptop or desktop and I am about to purchase a brand new macbook pro 15". I am trying to decide between ordering the pre-installed 128 ssd provided by apple versus buying and installing my own. Most people seem to think that the performance boost from installing a third party SSD is well worth it.
I'd appreciate any input on a good ssd to install in the macbook pro. From my limited research, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227395&cmre=ocz_vertex_ssd-_-20-227-395--Product, would be a reasonable drive. This drive would cost me the same as the 128 SSD from apple.
Being a new apple user, I am also curious about the difficulty of installing the mac OS and programs. Does apple send this software in CD format with new macbook pros ? If I did go with installing my own ssd where would I get the software I will need?
Lastly, I just want to make sure that installing an SSD doesn't void applecare/warranty. I'm pretty sure that it doesn't, but there are alot of conflicting opinions on this for some reason.
    Thanks for your help!

  • What does this Macbook Pro Model # Mean?...MB133LZ/A

I just purchased a Macbook Pro off of eBay and have now just noticed that they had the MPN for this laptop listed as MB133LZ/A. After doing some research, is this a computer from outside of the U.S.? If so, will this be a problem for me since I live in the United States? Can anyone explain to me what the model # means and if this laptop will be any different than the ones sold in the U.S. Thanks a lot!

One of my fellow level 4s appears to believe that LZ indicates it is from a Latin American country. That might indicate a slightly different keyboard, but you can always attach a U.S. keyboard if you find that it is, and Apple menu -> System preferences -> International lets you select the keyboard settings you desire.

  • Is it possible to replace my iPod Classic with this following reasons?

    1. The battery drains faster than the tech specs.
    2. It's still under warranty.
    3. I have a Silver iPod Classic(80gig) and I compared it with my mums Black iPod Classic(80gig) and her clickwheel responds much faster. Mine usually freezes.
    4. My mums Black iPod Classic has much brighter LCD screen than mine. We both set it to 50% brightness & you can see the difference.
    5. And I noticed that the casing of my iPod wasn't perfectly attached it's a bit lose.
    6. My mum and I has tha same movies in our iPods but when i play this movies mine has more pixelation than my mums Black iPod Classic.
Do I have the right to replace it with a new one and could i demand for a Black iPod if replacement is possible?

Since no-one here is an Apple employee we can't give you any definitive answer to your question.
Only Apple can determine whether your iPod is replaceable under warranty or not.
You can either arrange online service here.
    Service request.
Or if an Apple store is near you, take it there and have them check your iPod.
