Issue on solaris platform for JNI

hi all,
I am solaris platform.
I am passing string EFTDEG from java to c++.
when I convert it in JNI code using GetStringUTFChars it changes to EFT.DEG
I want to retain same character in c++ code ie. EFTDEG
Can any one help me.

Explicitly explain how you are determining that it does not have the correct character.
I store it in file where that string store as EFT.DEG.
Wrong.
That tells me what you are doing. That does NOT tell me how you are determining that it is wrong.
On windows it working but not on solaris platform.Which makes it really likely that you are confusing display with data.

I have installed jdk1.3.1 for solaris. I am able to install other java related programs & it is running successfully.
    Any idea...
    Thanks,

    Hi.
Can you verify that the size of the file you downloaded is 90,941,843? Also post the checksum of the file. What version of Solaris are you installing on? Most folks having this problem
    have a corrupted bin file.
    Thanks,
    Michael

  • Font related issue in JEditorPane on Solaris platform

    Hi,
I am loading a HTML file which contains tables and in which table header text is in bold . Now when I see the output in the JEditorPane on Solaris, no bold font is seen there...only plane simple font is available for each word.
This is happening on Solaris platform only. On Windows, its working fine. Please help me out in getting a workaround for the same. I want the table header words in bold format in JEditorPane on Solaris too.
    Thanks,
    gshankar

well that depends how u are using your text. an XML can be
easiliy shown in Dynamic text box. there are some issues when you
    mask it,
although do one thing, if you are using Arial try not to
embed and then see what happens, if it still raises a problem, let
    me know

    Hi Claudio,
The best two pieces of information would be:
How do I Use a National Instruments License File on an OS Other Than Windows?
Using a Volume License File on a FLEXlm server
I am sure combination of the above two will provide you will the answers. But please feel free to post any further questions you might have.

    quality processing load.
     2 GB RAM
Disk space depends on the data processes, we recommend 1,5 GB plus 2 to 5 times the size
    of the data sources.
     Operating Systems:
    UNIX:
     AIX 5L (v5.1, 5.2, and 5.3)
     Solaris 8, 9 or 10
     HP-UX 11.i V1 (PA RISC), HP-UX 11.i V2 (IA64)
Linux Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1 and above
    Windows:
Windows: Windows 2000 Server with SP 3
Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition with SP 1 (32 bit)ux Suse Version 9.2 Professional and above
so can I install ODI for unix in Solaris

    Hi-
You can use below manual installation proceeds as follows :
Step 1. Download a setup for Windows and run it on a Windows machine.
Step 2. Once the setup is finished, FTP all the following files and folders from your Windows machine to you Sun Solaris server :
the entire 'bin' folder (excepting the '.bat' files) - ASCII transfer mode
the entire 'lib' folder - BINARY transfer mode
the entire 'drivers' folder - BINARY transfer mode
Step 3. Once you have transferred all the files, do not forget to configure the odiparams.sh file according to your environment. Also add the appropriate files, used by ODI to connect to your technologies, to the 'drivers' folder.
    Does it helpful?

  • WLP 10.2 on Solaris 10 for x86 platform

We wish to run WebLogic Portal 10.2 using Solaris 10 for the x86 platform, but discovered that this configuration is not supported by BEA. Does this mean it will not work? If it work, what is the risks using it in a production environment?
    Thanks.

    My intention is to:
Restore backup tapes that in the sun v440(sunos5.9 for sparc)on  the sap data backup.
solaris11 for x86 (in vmware)do with the resumption of tests.
use sap  With a version that sunos_64 for sparc,Feasible?
    No.
SunOS SPARC is a BigEndian platform whereas SunOS on X64 is LittleEndian, you won´t be able to restore the backup there.
See note 552464 - What is Big Endian / Little Endian? What Endian do I have?
On top of that, there´s no database installation for Solaris x64 for 6.40 versions.

I have tried using other JDK versions (e.g: 1.4.2_09-b05, etc...) and NOT see the error.
This is very strangle! It may be a bug of this JDK version?!!!
The below is all providers available on this JDK; search among these providers
I've found out a unusual point that we see no any provider implementing RSA.
So I doubt that this missing can lead to error

in.close();Specially, the error only occurs when using JDK 1.5.0_07-b03 on Solaris platform.
[java.security.NoSuchAlgorithmException: Cannot find any provider supporting RSA/ECB/PKCS1Padding]
------------------- All providers avaible on JDK 1.5.0_07-b03, Solaris platform ------------
    SUN = SUN (DSA key/parameter generation; DSA signing; SHA-1, MD5 digests; SecureRandom;
X.509 certificates; JKS keystore; PKIX CertPathValidator; PKIX CertPathBuilder; LDAP, Collection CertStores)
SunRsaSign = Sun RSA signature provider
    SunJSSE = Sun JSSE provider(PKCS12, SunX509 key/trust factories, SSLv3, TLSv1)
SunJCE = SunJCE Provider (implements DES, Triple DES, Blowfish, PBE, Diffie-Hellman, HMAC-MD5, HMAC-SHA1)
    SunJGSS = Sun (Kerberos v5)
SunSASL = Sun SASL provider(implements client mechanisms for: DIGEST-MD5, GSSAPI, EXTERNAL, PLAIN, CRAM-MD5; server mechanisms for: DIGEST-MD5, GSSAPI, CRAM-MD5)
For the other JDK versions, we can see "implements RSA" and then everything works fine!

I have downloaded and installed the Java Cryptography Extension (JCE) Unlimited Strength Jurisdiction Policy Files version 5.0
    but the error still occurs!
Does anybody know how to fix this error? Please!!!

We are seeing memory leaks with xerces 2.5.0 on the Solaris platform. Has anyone encountered a similar problem and is there a fix for it.

I have seen other apps sucessfully running in AppStore. Is there something which I am missing ??????. Help me with the issue Guys.......... it's putting  me out of businness.

  • Netbeans versus Eclipse for JNI

We have a significant about of code to rehost on solaris 8, from xview, to new java guis interfacing legacy C code. Current develpment environment is vi and make. We want to evolve to Junit, Ant, CVS and eand IDE either Netbeans or Eclipse (maybe JbuilderX). Have used both for java but never for JNI. Now exploring Eclipse. Can anyone lead us to a forum on Netbeans versus Eclipse for this type of effort?

Hi Ivar, thanks for your reply.
Actually both Netbeans and Eclipse provide a C/C++ plug-in, so you can develop the C side as well. I'm using it in Eclipse. There is a C Ant task also, so you can build the C and Java together. (Ideally, we want to be able to step, in the source level debugger, from the java into the C native method, but I don't believe that has been worked out in any IDE.) I am working with Eclipse now, and you can edit java in the java perspective, click a C file, and automatically switch to the C perspective. That seems to work pretty well. On the other hand, Netbeans is a Sun sponsored project, and we are on Solaris, so maybe Netbeans has some platform dependent goodies that might tip the balance.
You and I both know that while a tool may have a capability, that does not mean it does the job well. Somebody else must be doing the same thing that I am, so I'm looking to learn from the experience of others who are farther into the process. Maybe I can avoid having to get deeply into one tool, only to find I should have used another.

  • Is Solaris better for Java than Linux?

    Hi All,
I am going to set up a distributed processing architecture in Java using RMI and other techniques.
I will be using 2 servers(few more later), one will be used for fetching data from external resources like network/web, etc. and the other server will be used for processing that data.
Now, i am using Linux, however, i have been reading a lot about Solaris 10 and especially its 2 main advantages for using it for Java development.
    1) Java is native to Solaris.
    2) Solaris has a much better support for multi threading than Linux.
Please suggest me if i should move to Solaris 10
    Thanks in advance

This is not my personal opinion, i am saying what link from sun.com saysNo, "+So, *i think* that Solaris *has much more power* than Linux.....and we have to find on that....+ " is your personal opinion. It is not what the article says.
It's an old article, and it's talking quite specifically about threading models. Assuming for the sake of argument that the article is still accurate, it still doesn't answer the question of which OS is more suitable for your application - that will depend entirely upon the characteristics of the application itself.
...and i have asked this to you all just because i may find anyone that have used Solaris with JavaNobody can tell you how your application will run with either Solaris or Linux. If that sort of fine distinction is important you'll need to benchmark it, or at least take into account the actual threading metrics of your application.
Choices between Solaris and Linux are generally made on management, environment, hardware, and other grounds, not the "does it run Java faster" question. For example if you're running on a platform with Niagara then of course you run Solaris. If you're going to need extensive runtime debugging instrumentation then you run Solaris just for DTrace. If you're running on commodity hardware then you probably run Linux for driver issues alluded to here.
Your question, as asked, is unanswerable. Ask a better question.
Edit: Or to give you a far more efficient version of the above "Try it and see." as given by Keith in reply 1.

  • How To Install Platform for Multiple Developers on Single UNIX Machine?

    Hello,
What is the best way to install the WL 8.1 Platform for multiple
developers on a single UNIX machine? These developers may start
    concurrent instances.
The problems I see are that the log files generated by Workshop would
be shared among concurrent users, permissions would need to be set so
that the user that is running the instance that creates the log files
will need to create the file with permissions that everyone can use. Are
there any other issues to doing this?
I could not find the information on this in the documentation.
    Thanks

I was referring in particular to the logs that are created by Workshop
itself (in the workshop directory). It creates workshop.log and netui.log.
    Raj Alagumalai wrote:
    Steven,
which workshop log file are you referring to ?
the workshop log files are usually saved to the domain directory.
If the developers are each going to start their own server instances then
    there should be no issues.
The best option for you is to create multiple domains for each developer.
They will share the same workshop installation, but they will each have
    their own instances.
    Thanks

  • Know more detail about the Remote Support Platform for SAP Business One ?

SAP Business One 9.1 is about to release this year and we can see in the feature enhancements that a significant update is planned in the Remote Support Platform for SAP Business One, more commonly known as RSP. Let’s have a quick look what update is planned for RSP in version 9.1:
Enhancements planned in Remote Support Platform for SAP Business One 9.1
RSP is planned to support both SAP Business One on Microsoft SQL Server as well as SAP Business One on HANA Database
RSP Processes and Reports adapted to SAP HANA Database
With this plan RSP will help in the areas of Download, Installation, Go-Live Check, Monitoring, Upgrade and Support for SAP Business One both   on SQL Server and HANA.
But like me (non-SAP B1 Consultant) many of you have the question what is RSP and how it helps in support? Here I have tried to gather all information.
What is Remote Support Platform for SAP Business One?
The remote support platform for SAP Business One is designed to protect a SAP Business One installation by providing automated and remote support in a high-volume business.
The platform monitors the entire SAP Business One environment. By significantly reducing the time between the appearance, identification, and resolution of issues, the remote support platform for SAP Business One minimizes the impact on customer databases and processes.
Some Key Features of Remote Support Platform:
Showing alerts to SAP B1 Admin about the events which require their attention, such as low disk space, database backups, etc.
Incident Reports against the issues identified which require attention of SAP Support
Company Database Backup and Restore options
Regular fixes of Company Database inconsistencies
Check, Download and Install regular updates in SAP Business One
Upload Logs and required files to SAP Support or to Partner Support on regular basis
Some details about RSP Backup Management
Schedule daily, weekly, and monthly backups
Perform differential and full database backups
    Back up transaction logs
Back up files to shared folders on a network
    System Status Report through RSP
From June 1st 2013, it will be mandatory to install, configure and upload the System Status Report (SSR) from Remote Support Platform (RSP) for SAP Business One in order to receive support for messages of a technical nature (upgrades, performance & crashes, etc).
    Database uploads only via RSP
From June 1st 2013 SAP Business One Support will only accept database uploads to SAP via remote support platform for SAP Business One. In certain exceptional circumstances STFP may be used but this will constitute a minority of cases.
    Microsoft Windows PowerShell Scripting
In the remote support platform studio, you can create tasks using Microsoft Windows PowerShell scripting. PowerShell enables you to perform remote administrative tasks on customers’ Microsoft Windows operating systems, by providing full access to Component Object Model (COM) and Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI).Some Network Prerequisite for RSP
To achieve the internet connection test, you must allow port 80 for the RSP external communication
Disabling antivirus firewall or add the RSP to the trusted zone of the antivirus
    Set the correct proxy
Disabling Windows firewall in the TP_link Wireless Configuration Utility

  • Migrate Oracle 9i Database to Oracle 10g Solaris Platform

    Hi DBAs,
Thank you very much all of you, you helped me in RMAN Duplicate Database, There was a problem in my backupset and now it has been resolved.
    I have now following task.
I want to migrate Oracle 9i Database to Oracle 10g ASM, both are on Solaris platform. Please provide me step by step solution. I have very big Database about 250G Database.

In the "Complete checklist for manual upgrades to 10gR2" is written:
    PREREQUISITES
    =============
+ Install Oracle 10g Release 2 in a new Oracle Home.
+ Install the latest available patchset from Metalink.
+ Install the latest available Critical Patch Update.
... so "Install the latest available Critical Patch Update" step is that for the Oracle 10g database Oracle Home or Oracle 9i database Oracle Home ? I think that is for the 10g database/ Oracle Home ...
after applying the CPU pacht there is some "Post Installation Instructions":
3.3.5 Post Installation Instructions which demande a connection to the database:
    3. For each database instance running out of the ORACLE_HOME being patched, connect to the database using SQL*Plus as SYSDBA and run catcpu.sql as follows:
    cd %ORACLE_HOME%\CPU\CPUJan2007
    sqlplus /nolog SQL> CONNECT / AS SYSDBA
    SQL> STARTUP
    SQL> @catcpu.sql
    SQL> QUIT
My question is ... If I want to upgrade a 9i database to 10g and I apply this CPU before the upgrade is done (to 10g Oracle Home), how could I connect to an instance which is not present to run this script ? ... is this step mandatory or is optional ?
    Thanks,
    P.
