Issue saving files as PDF

I have Windows 7 on my computer.  I had to recently restore Windows on my computer and since then I can save Word documents as PDFs.  Please assist.

Yes I think I understand the problem and I believe it is expected behavior and I will explain.
You must convert the images to cmyk in photoshop first before placing them in Illustrator or convert them after but since they are linked the conversion has to take place in photoshop by using the link panel to edit the original.
Now it should work as expected but I did this without the using a black key line on the rectangle I used for my clipping so once you have the rectangles position if you still find you have this problem then go bak and redo the clipping mask without the black stroke.
This is my result in Acrobat with the images converted to cmyk so I am positive you stated with RGB and did not convert before placing.
As you can at 6400% magnification it is fine. This is the top edge of the two butted images when saved as pdf after converting the files to cmyk in Photoshop. PDX 1a supports CMYK.
This is what it looks like when using the inked files when they are rgb

  • Problem saving files to PDF in Illustrator CS4 [Mac]

    Hi all,
I'm having a problem with saving files as PDF's in illustrator CS4 - something I've happily done for years until about a week ago.
It seems to be something to do with the "Save As" command. When I select Save As and then select PDF, the PDF saves as a copy of the current file rather than it saving as a file itself. It also doesn't rename itself properly. Saving a file in the .ai format seems unaffected.
The multiple page function also seems to be affected - I can create multiple pages no problem, but upon saving the PDF reads as a single page PDF in both Acrobat and Preview. Reopening the same file in Illustrator reveals that the extra pages are there, but not showing in the PDF.
Any thoughts? I've trashed preferences and repaired permissions, but no joy....
    Any help greatly appreciated

Have you entered specific artboards in "use artboards"?

  • Saving files as .pdf and locating

How do I save a file as .pdf t my hard drive so I can locate
it for later sending as attachment?

    Hello,
It is best to save it to your desktop, for easier location
later. Right click the file, choose 'save as' and select 'desktop'
    as your destination.

  • Print query regarding saving file as PDF/X-3

I have a magazine ready for print for a client that uses a printer to print it. I am wondering whether or not the PDF I send them of the magazine (from InDesign CS5) will have any issues if I use the PDF/X-3:2003 Standard. Compatability is set to Acrobat 4 (PDF 1.3) and the document will have all necessary bleed marks etc. The reason I am using this standard is to stop the PDF creation process from not showing certain transparencies used with InDesign tools. It's a only a few pages that have this issue, where when I send them for proofing the effects from ID glow etc don't show up unless I use the  PDF/X-3 standard which keeps them in. So I am just wondering if it is ok to send the whole document as this standard when it goes to print (will there be any other issues with it saved this way? If so I will probably have to save the pages in question seperately and them pull them on as PDF's to the ID file and then save normally. The print site is modern so I doubt they have old software but I don't know for sure.
    Thanks for your time.

In terms of a “state-of-the-art” PDF standard for prepress, Adobe recommends PDF/X-4 for overall workflow and output reliability. It supports full ICC color management as well as live transparency. All major RIPs (and software updates for same) from the last half dozen years as well as Adobe Acrobat fully support PDF/X-4.
That having been said, there must be a “meeting of the minds” between the content creator/provider and the print service provider. If the print service provider can't support the PDF/X standard you wish to provide, you have two real choices - conform with what they want (and hopefully not suffer from the consequences) or find another print service provider.

  • Error saving file as PDF   FM 11.0.2.384  Windows 7

"Can't launch Acrobat Distiller to create PDF file."
I cannot find Distiller on my workstation.  I do not see it in the Control Panel.  I also cannot find Distiller on the distribution media.
I suspect it is not installed.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks,
    Jerry

Hmm.  It should not be this hard.  I worked in software development for two decades and made stuff work.  But I am quite frustrated.  My workstation build is standard.  My FM is current.  This is not like I am expecting some little used, obscure feature to work.  Saving a PDF should be mainstream.  It's like spell-checker not working.  Huh?
As far as I can tell these are the primary software components involved:
    1.  Framemaker 11
    2.  Adobe PDF Creation Add-on X
    3.  Adobe Reader XI  (11.0.04)
    4.  Windows 7.
Am I missing any others or are any of the above not in this equation?
I've now worked through the advice given above with no luck but I should not have to rely on luck.  I am trying to make a living with this software.
Thank you Amis and Mike for taking the time to respond to my request for help.  It is very kind of you.  I am new to this forum and in spite of my issue I get a very positive vibe with the way people help each other here.
    Thanks again,
    Jerry

  • Has anyone else had issues saving files should hard drive issue force reinstall of Story?

In theory there should be a way to protect one's work offline to one's local hard drive.  No one has told me what I've done wrong, nor what to do to get files back.  I saved frequently to an external hard drive, saved using the procedure of "save now", i did not get any cautious messages "you need to save while online as cache or file suffixes will not  or cannot save to the local drive" nor any variation.  Curiously no one wants to talk to me to help resolve.  Anyone out there who wants their work only temporarily saved unless online?  Please reply to this thread.  Thank you.

  • Issue saving as a PDF

Starting today, every time I save a file in illustrator as a *.pdf the software freezes. The rest of my laptop works fine but I can't minimize or maximize illustrator. In task manager the mem usage freezes at what ever it was at when i tried to save. I can save as a *.ai file without issue.
All that I think has changed since my last good save was an install of Wacom intuos4 large tablet and yahoo messenger.
I uninstalled messenger and rebooted and am still having the same issue.

I have the exact same problem with a Wacon Intuos 3 and Windows 7.
Save as PDF woks fine in all other Adobe programs and have found other solutions on the web pointing towards the Wacom drivers and suggestions to roll back the drivers to version 6.1.0.6 which unfortunately didn't work for me.
The only solution I have found is to totally uninstall all Wacom drivers and not use my tablet !!
This is just not good enough for me, so what I'm doing now is create my AI file, transfer it to my Mac and save it as PDF..... I worry about what would happen if I connect my tablet to my Mac!?!
So I have a solution which works but then again doesn't really work for me.
From what I hear it is a Wacom problem but they apparently doesn't recognize this, so it might be a long wait until this is solved!

  • Issues saving files from LR4 in CS6

I just installed CS6 on a new computer, i7 and plenty of everything. Also has windows 8, yuck.  On my previous computer running a different ps but the same Lr version, I had no issues.  But saving images is a nightmare.  I shoot in raw, so my files are large. From within Lr, to bring a photo in tiff format over to ps, edit, save, it will take minutes PER photo. Yet bringing the same raw image into ps via bridge, it saves fine...still a bit slow, but not even close to the lag.  Same issue whether it is psd or tiff.
There is no software on my computer other than cs6 and lr4.2, no antivirus, nothing except the other garbage that comes with win 8. I think that because I can't find anything on this issue, it must be due to win 8 as the OS and it is causing a disconnect between Lr and ps.
Please help ASAP, I was on chat with someone who was clueless. Thank you...

  • How can I increase resolution when saving file as PDF?

I am sending some illustrated files to a professional printing press that only accepts PDFs, however they say the resolution is too low and should be 300dpi. How can I increase resolution? Only option I could find was to try to create a new filter in Color Sync by duplicating PDFX3 filter and editing it to the desired resolution, however I couldn't get new filter to save my resolution inputs. Any help is appreciated!

You really need something like Acrobat which will install a "Save as Adobe PDF" under the PDF menu. You can select press quaility," "high quality print," etc., and get a true high res PDF.
If you'd like to just give it a shot, try downloading one of the OS X CS6 suites that include Adobe Acrobat Pro for a free 30-day trial. I've never used SketchBook Pro, but Acrobat may help you out.

  • Issues Saving Files; Excel 2013

Users are unable to save files using Excel 2013 (both .xls and .xlsx) to network share space. the return is "Someone else is working on 'J:\network space name\filename' right now. Please try again later". There are no other users
currently using the file in question and Folder and file ACL allows for full control. Users are able to save to their persistent D:\ volume (we are using VMware) but unable to breach the network space. I have full administrative rights and am experiencing
the same results, this includes a newly created file, files for which I have total ownership and files for which i have full control over. This condition is only true for Excel 2013, Office and other Suite applications are functioning well within tolerance.
This condition originally manifested when we first rolled out the MSFT Office 2013 image but subsided when we modified Trend Micro so that it would not scan edited files. After that it would only manifest occasionally and to single or a couple of users but
has now returned to being global. Any ideas as to how to remedy this would be greatly appreciated.

The blog post speaks to an error message that is not what my users are seeing. There is no reference to files being 'locked', rather it suggests that another user may be viewing the same file precluding a save action. Initially we believed it was related
to an issue caused by .TMP files but as it turned out a refresh of AV baseline policy relieved the condition. So it may have been a cache issue and how the AV was handling the temporary file but details behind causality could not be determined beyond refreshing
    the base policy.
Thank you for your suggestion though, I appreciate the consideration.

  • Adding audio / music then saving file as pdf

I produce a monthly magazine using pages. Once done I save the file as a PDF.
I woud like to add a audio file or music file to pages then save it as a PDF and send it out.
Is there a way of doing this?
I know you can drag and drop a audio file onto the page but it disappears when you save it as a PDF and I do need the PDF format.
    Any help?
    Thanks!

You need to add all media files into the pdf using Adobe Acrobat Pro. Pages won't include them.
There may also be 3rd party apps and websites that do the same task.

  • Saving Files in PDF using third party plugin

I have been using the Office 2007 plugin "save as PDF" to convert all my office documents to PDF format. However, after upgrading my reader version to 9.0, each time I try to convert a document, the output is a jumbled list of words with no structure. I tried reinstalling Adobe Reader, but to no avail. Any suggestions?
I use Windows Vista SP1 by the way. The problem did not occur when I had version 8.1 of the reader installed. My computer is a HP with a Intel Dual Core processor and 2GB RAM Memory....

Yeah. I was going to say that you should just re-install Adobe 8.1.2.
    Have you tried it?

  • Issues Saving Files

Everytime I want to save a file I've updated it asks me to save it as a new document, rather than just updated what's open. Incredibly frustrating. How do I stop this?

It sounds like you've opened a "foreign" file not a Pages file made with the version you are using. The prompt is to save it as a Pages file. If you don't you will get the warning. If you're going to use Pages to edit other file types, such as Word, save it as Pages & then export the file to Word or whatever when you're done editing.
