Issue with back end validation in jsf 2.0

I am upgrading my apps to jsf2.0 and I came across something that I hope you have already solved.
In jsf 1.1 action methods returned a string. If that string was NOT mapped as a navigation in faces-config.xml, then it just rerendered the active page. this made doing back end validation easy because I could add messages to the faces context and when the active page rerendered the validation messages would get displayed and no one was the wiser than it was done on the back end instead of on the front end.
In jsf 2.0 I get null pointers if I return a string that is NOT mapped as a navigation. So I changed the code to return a string that is mapped as a navigation for that page when there is a validation error. but that is treating it like a new request and not a rerender so the validation messages I added to the faces context are not there when the page renders.
if i test submit a form that has only front end validation then it works fine and the validation messages are correctly shown.
any suggestions?

In 11.2.0.3 you are unlikely to see the various truncate/drop issues relating to large numbers of small extents - unless you use dictionary managed tablespaces.
There are a couple of possible threats with small extents and highly concurrent inserts with ASSM that might be a temporary problem when the object size is small. There may still be some issues with large uncommitted inserts or deletes making other session's work very hard to identify free blocks until the large transaction has committed - these things can be hard to test.
There may still be a couple of inefficiencies with parallel query and small extents, although parallel CTAS did have a (possibly temporary) hack to allocate immediate large extents to work around some of the silly details.
Really you need to think through your requirements and them model them on your system - some of the anomalies have changed several times over the last three years.

Hello ,
Please check the following steps for the error.
1. Make sure that SLD is up and running.
2. JCO's are properly configured and are successfully pinged and tested.
3. After verifying the above steps, Restart the J2EE server.
TEST & PING the JCO in Web Dynpro =>Content Administrator =>Maintain JCOs. This JCO has to be the one which you are using for the connector for which you are running the SYNC job.
Periodically the JCo destinations, as part of the Netweaver framework, sometimes fail. Recreating them or restarting the system can make them work again.

How can i fix Connection issues with back to my mac since yosemite upgrade.

Ok I have been having nothing but problems with back to my mac since the upgrade. both machines are using yosemite and I have even reinstalled yosemite on both still having connection issues. anyone else know how I can fix this? I get one of 2 error messages one that says there is a problem connecting and i should make sure screen sharing is active and then another that says the server does not exist. So far to get it working it involves restarting back to my mac or both macs. This is not a good fix since once I disconnect and try to reconnect a few hours later it does it all over again. I am currently in France and needless to say my parents are starting to get really annoyed with constantly having to do things on there end so I can remote into my iMac.Before the yosemite upgrade I maybe had to do this once or twice.

What I have done is open Disk Utility, Repair Permissions, and do that more than once if it returns a lot of errors in the permissions. Then Restart the Mac.
Also, go to System Preferences > Spotlight and try turning off a couple settings such as search suggestions...these things are taking a lot of resources now.

Get invoice status from back end (validated/ not validated)

How can i find the invoice status from the back end. I am creating a custom form where in need to populate only validated invoices. Is there any proc. for this ? Was looking around for the proc but unable to find one.

I have got the proc. ap_utilities_pkg.get_invoice_status
This proc. takes invoice_id as an input parameter and returns in "UNAPPROVED' if validation or approval fails.

Firefox Issue With Back button

I am having an issue with SpryHorizontal Menus in Firefox when using the back button. Even did a tutorial with Lynda.com and found their solution file had the same issue. Would anyone who has had success with 3 levels of submenus care to share a snippet of their code as I cannot find the error and outside help hasn't quite resolved the issue.

Thanks for your email! It isn’t often I get a great question like that. I had to do some digging, but I came up with a solution. You might have already worked your way through it, but if not the problem is Firefox’s (and Opera’s) caching that’s causing the issue in question. To fix it, you have to reset the submenu dynamic class names when the user clicks the link (re-caching the page is a bad idea).

Issue with backing up Archive logs

Hi All,
Please help me with the issues/confusions I am facing :
1. Currently, the "First active log file = S0008351.LOG" from "db2 get db cfg for SMR"
    In the log_dir, there should be logs >=S0008351.LOG
    But in my case, in addition to these logs, there are some old logs like S0008309.LOG, S0008318.LOG, S0008331.LOG etc...
    How can I clear all these 'not-really-wanted' logs from the log_dir ?
2. There is some issue with archive backup as a result the archive backups are not running fine.
    Since this is a very low activity system, there are not much logs generated.
    But the issue is :
    There are so many archive logs in the "log_archive" directory, I want to cleanup the directory now.
    The latest online backup is @ 26.07.2011 04:01:04
    First Log File      : S0008344.LOG
    Last Log File       : S0008346.LOG
    Inside log_archive there are archive logs from S0008121.LOG   to   S0008304.LOG
    I wont really require these logs, correct ?

You should not delete logs from log_dir because there online Redo logs and if you delete then there will be problem in start of db.

If your archive logs are backed up from log_archive directory then you can delete old logs.

Not able to get a link to the fron-end portal(ess) with back-end sap R\3 AB

   In the back-end i.e sap abap-hr , the required data (leave types) are available.But on front-end Portal(ESS) ,the drop-down menu in personal LOA forms shows only two leave types(personal & self-funded leave).i got struck in how to make few in remaining also viewable in the drop-down list.Can anyone help me on this?

Bottom line,
to configure the Leaves on your portal you have to do.
1. Configure the Leave Types and all the customizing on T554S.
    opc. If you want to have quota deduction, and everything else you should check V_T559L, T556C, T556A as well.
2. Configure the Leaves on the Portal. This is done on the IMG path colleague replied:

>Service-Specific Settings

>Leave Request
>Processing Processes
   a. Create the Rule Groups - this step you just create them.
   b. Adjust feature WEBMO - The feature WEBMO is used to select the rule group. Most of the times based on MOLGA and Ctrl. Center.
   c. Define Processing Processes for Each Rule Group - define the processes such as how to record partial day leaves, details on to check PTREQ_HEADER tables for unposted leaves, and how to determine workflow's next agent (more info press F1 on each of these fields)
   d. Specify Processing Processes for Types of Leave - Associate the Leaves from T554S that you want to show on the portal. This includes Absences and ATtendances. Here you define data such as if you are allowed to create leaves on the past, present and future; field customizing, and other details.
Since Time Management is an old part of SAP the F1 documentation is very complete so I really advise you to check.

for how to have custom warning messages to show on your leaves.

Double computer name on network and NAT issue with Back to My Mac

These are the problems I am having:
When my MacPro workstation (which on the network is named "The Beast") wakes from sleep - I get a message saying "there is already a computer on the network with the name "The Beast". Other computers on the network can now find you at "The Beast-2"" and it gives me a new name in the file sharing preferences - even though it is the only computer on the network with that name.
Why is this happening???
The other problem is with BackTo My Mac - When I try to enable it - I get an error message saying "Turn off NAT Addressing" - which I thought was turned off since the AEBS is in Bridge Mode. Why is this happening?
Here is my network setup which consists of the Modem / Router from my ISP - an Airport Extreme Base Station and one Airport Express - which is connected to my MacPro via ethernet. The MacPro does not have an airport card installed and is running OSX 10.6.8 - all other computers / devices are running 10.7.x and iOS6).
VDSL Modem / Router (from Internet provider) with wireless turned off - (so it is not broadcasting a competing wireless signal) - connected via ethernet to my Airport Extreme Base Station.
Here are all the settings on the AEBS and the Airport Express: - I am using Airport Utility 5.6.1 on my Mac Pro running OSX 10.6.8 - so the setup prefs are different than the newer version of Airport Utility found on 10.7.x systems - but both work fine. Although I did notice that the option to allow ethernet clients to connect to the Airport Express does not exist (or I just didn't find it) in the newer version of Airport Utility.
Airport Extreme Base Station is set up as follows:
Wireless Mode: Create a Wireless Network

Thanks for any insights into what might be causing the double name on the network and why it is asking me to turn off NAT addressing - when both my Airport devices are in Bridge Mode?

How to not update the model value whe, multiple back-end validation failed

Hello !
I have a save button who perform in backend code multiple validations on some fields. The validations can be ok, if not, I show specific error messages in my page. It's working fine.
The problem is that all the InputText I need to valid are value binded with value=#{backing.somepropery} to the model and when the code of the ActionEvent is called the model was already update.
So the validation is useless, you see error message ok but I can't prevent action to be done.
As the validation occurs only when I press a specific button I can't use custom validator.
does someone have an idea to manage that ?

Adobe form: Issue with BACK, CANCEL and EXIT buttons

I am new to Adobe forms. I created a simple demo Adobe form and was able to print it successfully except a strange problem.
Whenever I opt for print preview it shows me a blank page. On pressing enter it shows me the form, But now none of the BACK, EXIT, CANCEL buttons work. On pressing any of them I keep getting the print form.
So the only way I can come out of it is /n.
Can anyone please help with the reason for such an issue and how to get rid of it.

Issues with 105 End to End tutorial

In working my way through the end-to-end, I am running into two issues in part 5 (Human Workflow Task):
- the instruction suggests the Worklist Application's URL to be http://localhost:8888/integration/worklistapp. In my (automatically installed) environment however that should be http://localhost:8988/integration/worklistapp
- the login to be used for entering the Worklist Application is given as fmwadmin/welcome1. However: I cannot get access to the Worklist with that account. I have been able to locate the user fmwadmin from JDeveloper and when I check the system-jazn-data.xml file for the OC4J I can see the user as well. Is there a way to reset the password? Or can it be that instead of welcome1 another password should be used?

Compatibility issues with backing up Tiger onto a LaCie

I bought a LaCie 9231 external hard drive to back up my boss's 2 laptops. I didn't realize they had different operating systems, one is a MacBook with Leopard 10.5.8 and the other is PowerBook with, Tiger 10.4.11. The LaCie isn't compatible with Tiger.
1. Is there some way around the compatibility issue between the LaCie and the PowerBook?
2. Is it possible to have files from two different operating systems on one hard drive?
I've already backed up MacBookPro and I'd prefer to have the two computers backed up to one hard drive. We have back ups of both computers, but we wanted to put them both on one hard drive and put the hard drive in a safe deposit box.

1. Depending on what PowerBook you own, as some do not come with USB 2.0 ports and it wont be compatible with that external drive, however if it's just Mac OS X 10.4 which is preventing you from using it on your PowerBook then upgrade to Leopard Mac OS X 10.5 (Providing it meets the system requirements of 512 Meg memory and above 867Mhz processor)
2. You can store files from multiple operating systems on one single drive, however you can't use the Time Machine feature for the same drive on two different machines. Other backup software may have the same pintables. If it's just copying files to a folder to back up, then yes you can use the same drive.
