Issue with UTL FILE, does not read directory path

Hi Guys
I have created a procedure using a UTL_File, but when I execute that procedure, it comes with an invalid directory path.
create directory r_bmw as 'C:\BMW';
grant read, write on directory r_bmw to bmw;
The above have been created successfully. (r_bmw is the Directory Name. C:\BMW is the directory path.)
Below is my code:

Above is the output when select * from dca additional data.
I have edited the r_bmw to varchar (32757 BYTE);
however, the same errors still appear. Would I need to change the select statement to a different table...and not dca additional data?
ThanksSo you have created a directory name r_bmw
create directory r_bmw as 'C:\BMW';
grant read, write on directory r_bmw to bmw;And your are querying select * from dca additional data, which doesn't return your recently created directory.... So... what to do what to do.... You should query the all_directories with directory_name = 'r_bmw'.

Ok, check this out.  This just does not make any sense to me.  First, you'll need to run it and create the two files.  You're going to get an error at the close.  Now...here's what doesn't make any sense to me.  If you enable the disabled diagram and read that same file, you can look at how the file is being read and the data interpreted.  How is that any different and not causing an error?  I took the U8 and changed it back to its original Boolean Array[8] format and received no error.  Which means the data was read as a U8 at some point.  But...for whatever reason, cannot be read and displayed as a U8.  What's up with that?  What am I not understanding?

Huh....no read and write.  Either read or write.  Gotcha.
Not quite.  It is a matter of where the file pointer is.
The file pointer is what location in the file will be read from or written to, depending on what you do next.  When you write to a file, the file pointer is set to be directly after what you just wrote.  So when you write a new file, the file pointer is at the end of the file.  So when you try to do a read when the file pointer is at the end of the file, an attempt of a read at the end of the file happens.  But there is nothing left for it to read.  Therefore you get an End Of File error.
So if you just added a Set File Position to set the file pointer to the start of the file, you can read your byte with no error.

  • Issue with utl file

    Hi,
I am using UTL file to export records from table with fixed delimiter to a text file.
It works fine except that I see an additional character @ at the end of the file in the last line.
Can anyone let me know why are we getting this and how can we delete it..
    Thaks in advance..

I assume, as you are saying you can see the file ok in notepad/wordpad that you are creating a text file.
So a) what are you using to view the file in unix and b) how did you transfer the file to unix?
When you transfer files from Windows/DOS based operating systems to unix based operating systems you have to be aware that Windows uses a CR/LF pair of characters to terminate a line (a 'newline') and unix just uses a single LF character (character 10 in the ascii table) to terminate a line.  So when you transfer the files you need to convert the CR/LF pairs into just LF characters.
Typically this is done if you transfer the files using FTP and specify the 'mode' to be ASCII rather than BINARY.
    c:\>ftp testserver
    Connected to testserver.mycompany.com.
    220 sunny2 FTP server ready.
    User (testserver.mycompany.com:(none)): myuser
    331 Password required for myuser.
    Password:
    230 User myuser logged in.
    ftp> ascii
    200 Type set to A.
    ftp>
This tells the FTP software that you are transferring text files and that it needs to convert newline characters, if necessary, when transferring between Windows and Unix operating systems.
And for reference, if it's not a text file, then you must transfer in BINARY mode to ensure the files remain byte for byte the same...
    ftp> bin
    200 Type set to I.
    ftp>
If you don't transfer text files, between different operating systems, in ASCII mode, then those files will either be missing characters or have additional characters that aren't wanted.

  • "Open In" functionality with .ibooks file does not work

I am using the latest iBooksAuthor v2.2 and exporting an iBook to the .ibooks file format.  I have tried with and without a version number.  When I import the .ibooks file using the "Open In" functionality on the iPad it opens in the iBooks app.  However, if the book is already in iBooks it does not overwrite the existing iBook with the new file that has the changes I have made.  Am I missing a setting somewhere to ensure this works?

    Hello kbbean,
The resource below will explain how to publish and update to your previously published book in the iBooks Store:
iBooks Author: How to update your published book in the iBooks Store - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202443
Learn how to update a book that you published to the iBooks Store.
Before you can publish an update to your book:
You must have a Paid Books Account or Free Books Account.
You must have submitted your book to the iBooks Store at least one time.
You must install iTunes Producer on your Mac.
You must install iBooks Author 2.0 or later. We recommend the latest version of iBooks Author.
Your book’s file size can't be larger than 2 GB.
If you want to update your screenshots, use Contact Us in iTunes Connect. You can't update the screenshots that appear with your book in the iBooks Store via a redelivery. You can add screenshots to iTunes Producer only the first time you publish your book.
When you're ready to publish an update to your book:
Open the book (.iba file) that you'd like to update in iBooks Author.
Make the desired changes to your book.
Click Publish in the iBooks Author toolbar, or choose it in the File menu.
Follow the prompts until you reach the Add Version Info screen.
Select "This is an update to a previously submitted book."
    Click Continue.
Choose which of your previously published books you'd like to update.
Enter a new version number. The new version number must be higher than the version number that currently appears on the iBooks Store.
Click Continue and follow the prompts.
iBooks Author will export your updated book to iTunes Producer. Follow the onscreen instructions in iTunes Producer to publish your updated book to the iBooks Store. Most of the required fields will be filled in for you, but you'll need to include text in the What's New field to update your book.

I am very disappointed in battery life but I am getting NO help from the interal battery meter on the.  Any solution from Samsung or Google on this?  Check out the screen capture to see what I mean...  Says Discharging and is showing wrong info...

Turn the device off then plug it into the AC outlet until it shows it's full.  Unplug the device then turn it on.  Plug it back in and let it charge.  Make SURE in the battery settings it is showing up as Charging(AC) and not Charging(USB).  If it says Charging(USB) and it's plugged into an outlet then your cable is faulty.
Ironically both my GSM and LTE versions came with bad usb cords.

  • Since changing our computer I have been unable to download ebooks to my Reader Library I get a message Some file types associated with EPUB files are not associated with Reader Library; Waterstones suggest that I may have accidentally created a new Adobe

When you press Open rather than Save it should give the option to open the file with Adobe Digital Editions. If the firewall message still comes up then I'm afraid something is blocking it on your end.
If the above "Open" download method works but you then still get an error message it could possibly be that you have accidentally created a new Adobe ID when setting up on the new computer, rather than signing in with your old Adobe ID. It would be worth trying the aforementioned download technique again first, but if problems did still persist it would be worth calling Adobe themselves on 0207 365 0735, as they should be able to sort out any account issue.
In response to the first para of Waterstones email I already do what they suggest I do press ‘Open’ not ‘Save’ but I don’t get the open with Adobe Digital Editions (we have installed Adobe Digital Editions on the new computer. Waterstones say we may have ‘accidentally created a new Adobe ID when setting up the new computer’ does that mean that we shouldn’t have installed Adobe Digital Editions on the new computer as it would have already been there? How do I sign in with my old Adobe ID?

Hi all after attampting to get some supoport from adobe by phone.... nice people infurating policys as far as support for digital editions or DRM is conserned... However I got no where with support.
I ended up instaling Digital editions on my desktop PC and going through the motions of registering and borrowing a book then returning it. Then I trying on my iPad, Bluefire worked, Over drive did not so I completely removed Overdrive and reinstalled and re registered. all working now.
Maybe some one at adobe did something. Maybe the install of the adobe DE client on a PC corrected what ever was out of wack with my account. Mayby the server that my account lives on did a scan disk and corrected a bad clustrer.
What ever happend My account is actiove and working again. hope this helps others.

Generally when creating a Word file from either a Mac or Win7 pc and opening it on two different machines (either one first) it always prompts that the file is open and will be opened as read only.
However opening a CSS file does not prompt that it is already open on or from any machine which is causing code edits to be lost.
What we found from out testing:
    - The file can be saved from one user to the server and WILL NOT PROMPT on other machines until the saving machine has the Dreamweaver program closed completely
    - The file can be closed and  Dreamweaver minimised to the launch bar but it still will not register on other machines that it has been changed.
    - Also, until the  Dreamweaver program is closed on the machines, it will continue to open it's saved version of the file.
    Example Scenario:
    - User 1 opens test.css (which is 2000 lines) and adds some code to the end of the file to bring it up to 2500 lines
    - Meanwhile User 2 opens test.css as well (opens as 2000 lines as User 1’s edits have not yet been saved) and adds in code to bring it to 2300 lines
    - User 1 saves his file and closes it - but  Dreamweaver is still open.
    - User 2 also saves his file and leaves  Dreamweaver  open.
    - The server will report the size and last edit of the file the same as User 2 as he was the last person to save it (and if you open from the Win7 Machine it will show as User 2’s 2300 line version)
    - If User 1 then open's the file again (from either the 'recent' in Dreamweaver OR clicking on the file directly in Finder...which version opens.... The version that User 1 saved! Not the true version on the server, but the version that User 1 edited and saved with 2500 lines in it.
    - Same for User 2, he will open 'his' version with 2300 lines in.
    Other information:
    - Files are opened directly from the server
    - Sometimes the users will save incrementally and re-open
    - Most of the time users will save incrementally and keep the files open
    - The users will never not save incrementally and just save when closing the file once finished
    - The users are usually working on the files all day
    - It is always the bottom lines of code that are lost. It could be a case of the two versions being mixed up and cutting off the newly added lines based on the line count (possibly).
It is as if Dreamweaver is holding a cache of the version locally and then only properly looking back to the server when it has been completely closed. It is very difficult to see how the server is causing such an impact on these files, there are very few logs which are giving any indication to the root cause of the problems.
Anyone know if this is a known issue?
Is there a way that there can be a featured implemented on the server that doesn't allow another user to open a file if it is already open on another machine?
    Thanks

Your server file handling has nothing, and really nothing to do with Adobe software. If files don't get locked for (over-)writing and/or lose connection to the program opening them, then your server is misconfigured. It's as plain and simple and that. Anything from "known file types"/ file associations not being set correctly, MIME types being botched, crooked user privileges and file permissions, missing Mac server extensions, delayed file writing on the server, generic network timeout issues and what have you. Either way, you have written a longwinded post with no real value since you haven't bothered to provide any proper technical info, most notably about the alleged server. Either way, the only way you can "fix" it is by straightening out your server and network configuration, not some magic switch in Adobe's software.

  • Getting this error while opening a folder : This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel

    Hi,
While trying to open a folder on my Windows 7 Home Premium, an error comes "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this
action.  Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel." I tried searching on the net but did not get great support for the issue when it happens with folder opening.

    Hi Nikunj Shah,
    First, I suggest you download
    Microsoft Safety Scanner or
Malicious Software Removal Tool to run a full scan.
The error messages here seems to be caused by the corrupted registries, which related with the folder association.
You may take a try to merge the following registry settings to reset the folder association, before that, remember to backup your registry settings first:
How to back up and restore the registry in Windows
Copy and paste the following commands into Notepad, and save it to a .reg file:

  • Powershell shortcut gives"this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action"

    Hi,
We have a server where powershell gives an error. The shortcut or the context menu for start button (replaced cmd in context menu) gives an error saying "this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action".
In some events, like going to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\System Tools\Windows PowerShell.lnk and opening it results in bupkus. Nothing happens.
Browsing to C:\Windows\system32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\ and running powershell.exe directly or opening cmd.exe and typing powershell <enter> runs powershell as it should.
    What gives?

    Hi,
    I'd probably try asking here:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-us/home?forum=winserver8gen&filter=alltypes&sort=lastpostdesc
This is more of an OS issue than a PowerShell issue, IMHO.
    Good luck.

    hi vasanth,
This issue might not be related to personas.
Is this happening with all the PDFs?
Also, i would recommend you to upgrade your personas SP to latest.
New features in Personas 2.0 SP04; also Personas 1.0 SP04
