Issues when opening EPS files
Hi
I'm encountering a problem when opening a EPS file in Illustrator for editing
when I open the file and ungroup the object the stokes are all messed up and broken.
As an example the light colour in the image below is what one of my lines looks like when imported
if anyone knows how I might be able to stop this from happening when I open the file I would be very gratefull
thanks
Depending on where the file originated, this could be perfectly normal. Might be expanded strokes that break apart or something similar... anyway, impossible to know without more details or the file itself...

I am facing issue when opening flash files in Flash CC. (error:- This file was created with a later release of Flash Professional and might contain new features that would be lost when saved in the current format.)
Wow. Okay...
I'll let the real veterans in this forum tackle your issues one after the other. But, I can tell you, all will be well.
My only comment would be re: your computer specs:

. This may be due to somewhat older equipment:

To be completely honest, FCPX is a RAM hog. It just is. But, RAM is relatively cheap, and the pay-off is good.
4GB is right on the edge, IMHO. 16G is ideal.
I wish you luck, hang in there, and standby for more help. -

All representatives are actively assisting other customers. Your estimated wait time is 0 minute(s) and 1 second(s) or longer. Thank you for your patience.
We all can learn from this. Whenever you get stuck in a customer-service situation that goes nowhere, as soon as you become aware of the futility, get the name and employee ID of the person, then say, "I don't mean to be rude, I think we're both wasting our time. Perhaps you weren't trained for this issue, or perhaps your system isn't displaying the correct information. It doesn't matter, because I'm not getting proper customer support this way. Please ESCALATE this to your highest-level manager IMMEDIATELY. If that person isn't availabe, ESCALATE me to that person's highest-level manager. If you haven't been given the proper training, you can use this to inform your manager that you need the training. Thanks for trying to help. I appreciate it. I have copied and saved this chat session. NOW PLEASE ESCALATE THIS CASE AS I HAVE REQUESTED ABOVE. I'm waiting now... "
The point is that you're a customer, and the company needs customers, so the individual who's failing to deliver good service needs to be identified so they can be properly trained, and so that problems in the system can also be identified, but more important is that you get the service you're entitled to.
If you search the forum for similar questions, you'll see the kind of information that the volunteer users like yourself on the forum need to know about your system and files involved, so they can help you better.
Good luck.

Photoshop CS5 crashes when opening EPS file
I am having trouble opening an EPS file in Photoshop CS5. Previously, PS wasn't opening at all, but I cleaned up my fonts and I can now open some files. This particular EPS file, however, causes the application to crash every time. I recently had similar trouble with Firefox and Flash and have since upgraded to 10.7. Any thoughts? Crash report below:

I previously had many, many older fonts running. Right now, I only have the system fonts + a handful of newer favorites active. That resolved my problems with opening my apps, including Photoshop.
I tried opening another EPS file (both of these are from Illustrator and never gave me any problems before) and Photoshop crashed again.
Finally, I took a closer look at one font that kept popping up in the error reports, Garamond Premier Pro. I mistakenly assumed this was a system or Adobe font, but deleting it seems to have resolved the issue. -
Issue when opening Xcelsius-file in InfoView
Hi all,
We have a setup with following hw/sw:
Srv:
MS Windows 2003 SP2
4 GB RAM
40 GB HD (9 GB unused)
Intel Xeon E5430 @ 2.66 GHz
BO Edge XI 3.1
Integration Kit for SAP systems
Microsoft Office 2003
Crystal Reports 2008
Xcelsius 2008
Live Office
The dataflow is like this. Using CR we access SAP tables using 6 different reports. In Xcelsius we have inserted several LO objects to fetch data from CR and thereby updateting the graphs in Xcelsius. The update only runs when the user has selected a vendor in a combo box and presses an refresh button.
My issue is when I open the Xcelsius file in InfoView and press the refresh button in the dashboard, then the load time is between 2-5 minutes from the click to the graphs are displayed. Can anyone come up with some great ideas on how to decrease the loadtime? I would be happy to supply any other info that may be relevant for a solution to this problem
BR,
AndersHi Stratos,
There are 10 LO objects from 5 crystal reports. It takes data from the latest instances. All these reports have parameter which made on saved data. I have binded the parameter on Excel cell.
The time to update LO objects in Xcelsius using InfoView is: 40-45 sec
The time to update LO objects in Excel directly is: 40-45 sec
But if I check crystal report and pass parameter, the data comes instantly in all the reports. So it is definitely Live Office which takes time to refresh. We are on Live office XI 3.1 version.
Is this performance using Live Office normal? Can you suggest us how can we improve this performance for our demonstration?
BR,
Anders -
An user as part of the domain users tries to open an office file from a document library but he got an authentication prompt asking him to authenticate. Domain users has only access to this library and not to the whole site. This uses to work in SharePoint
2007 without any problem but not in SharePoint 2013, we didn't have a workflow on SP2007.
Domain users has read access to only this document library in the site, but he shouldn't get an authentication prompt since he is part of the domain users and he is not trying to modify the document, he can open the document but gets two prompts, he can't
also see the list using explorer view since nothings appears using the explorer view.
Now, when opening the file, we can see..Updating Workflow Status, but we don't have any workflow working on this site or library, event any feature related to workflow.
If we go to the event viewer in the server, we find this information,
I also checked this thread but I couldn't find this scenario.
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/91bc770b-bb70-4885-a4ad-a243edb88753/event-id-8026-workflow-soap-getworkflowdataforitem-failed-doc-library-no-workflow?forum=sharepointgeneralprevious
I also created another list with the same permissions and using other office files but got the same behavior.
Now, we have migrated this site from SP2007 to SP2013.
Any ideas?OK, I am going to throw out a lot of ideas here so hopefully they get you closer to a diagnosis. Hang on :)
Does it happen to work for some users but not others? If so, try logging in on the "good" computer with the "bad" username. This will tell you if the problem is related to the end-user's system. Also, once the user downloads a document
successfully can they open and work on it in Word? Also, does the document library have any custom content types associated with it or does it just use 'Document'?
I notice that there are other folks on the web that have run into this same problem and the similarity seems to be that they are either on SharePoint 2007 or have upgraded from 2007. Did this doc library start out as a 2007 library?
What you might want to do is this: Make a site collection from scratch in 2013 (or find one that you know was created in 2013). Choose team site (or whatever you want) for the root web and set up the security the same way you have it on the malfunctioning
library. Now, use windows explorer to copy and paste some of the documents to the new location. Be sure you recreate any needed content types. Now test it from the troubled user's computer.
I'm thinking there may be something that is different about the library since it was migrated through various versions and updates since 2007. I've sometimes found that there can be problems (especially with user profiles but that's a different story) with
things that go through this evolution. -
Can't open EPS files in Illustrator CS3 since installing CS6
I'm on Windows 7, and need to be able to open .eps files with Illustrator CS3. Since installing CS6 yesterday I'm no longer able to associate EPS files with Illustrator CS3. When I right click an eps and go to "open with", only Illustrator CS6 is listed. When I "choose default program", only Illustrator CS6 is listed. If I "browse" and manually select the Illustrator CS3 executable, it still defaults to CS6. Using the same process with .ai files works fine, there is no issue. However these .eps files are not behaving like .ai files. If anyone could suggest a solution to my problem I would be very grateful.
EDIT:
Also, attempting to set the default program through the "set associations" control panel doesn't work, after selecting the Illustator CS3 executable it still shows up as CS6.Some research solved my issue. Need to create a registry entry for Illustrator CS3 (v13) in the eps file extension section of the windows 7 registry.
1. Navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.eps\OpenWit hProgids
2. Create a new "binary value" key called "Adobe.Illustrator.13" (leave the value blank).
That's it. CS3 is now a valid choice for eps files. Hope this helps anyone who has the same issue. -
Illustrator CS6 gets error when opening AI files - Mavericks 10.9
I installed Mavericks yesterday ... lucky me, to be guinea pig in the office for this upgrade.
Am having issues with Illustrator. First it wouldn't open and had to runt he Java install, that took care of that. I am able to make new files without problem and open EPS files, but cannot open existing AI files UNLESS going to File > Open. If I double click on an AI file I get the error "The appliation can't be found"
After looking for similar issues I am not finding anyone else reporting a similar problem. I am not running any 3rd party plug ins. Any ideas???
Thanks for the help.Issue:
Clients logging into File Services over SMB with OS X 10.9 experience hanging connection upon login attempt.
Root Cause:
OS X 10.9 now utilizes a new SMB2 stack written by Apple. Apple's SMB2 implementation is not compatible with many other SMB2 NAS products on the market today while Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 works just fine. In short, its an Apple bug.
Workaround Option 1:
To force your connection to be SMB1, simply type cifs://servername instead of smb://servername when connecting to a Windows or NAS share. This is by far easier and requires no real configuration changes.
Workaround Option 2:
To force all connections to be SMB1:
Open A terminal window
paste in the following line followed by the return key(should be all on one line):
echo "[default]" >> ~/Library/Preferences/nsmb.conf; echo "smb_neg=smb1_only" >> ~/Library/Preferences/nsmb.conf
What the command does:
Creates a file called nsmb.conf in your home directory at the path ~/Library/Preferences/nsmb.conf.
Adds directives to force SMB connections to use the SMB1 protocol. This is slower but stable.
How to remove the workaround:
Open a terminal window
paste in the following at the prompt and then hit the return button:
rm ~/Library/Preferences/nsmb.conf
Notes:
Its a good idea to restart your mac before trying to connect to your storage again. This will clear any hung SMB processes from previous attempts to connect to your storage before implementing this workaround. -
Office 2013 Crashes when Opening Downloaded Files
Hello,
I am running Office 2013 on Windows 7; anytime I attempt to open a Word document that has been downloaded from my email, the program crashes. I see the Word splash screen, then the document opens for about two seconds, then it crashes. Upon reopening
Word, I am prompted to repair the program. After I repair the program and reopen Word again, I am prompted to reactivate the software.
If the attachment is saved directly to the computer, then opened from Word internally, the program works fine. I have already unchecked the boxes in the Trust Center and disabled the COM add-ons.
Any assistance would be appreciated!Hi,
I’m a little confused about the difference between “open a Word document downloaded from your email” and “attachment is saved directly to the computer”. What is the difference between
them?
Do you open the document on OWA or from Outlook client?
If there is no issue when opening it from OWA, this issue may be related to Outlook client.
Let's troubleshoot this from running Outlook in Safe Mode, to determine if it is 3rd-party add-ins related. Press Win + R and type “outlook.exe /safe” in the blank box, then press Enter. Then we may try to open the attachment, if there’s no problem in Safe
Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this issue.
We may also perform a clean boot to determine if background programs are interfering with Word:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
If Word crash still appears on local disk, we can analyze crash file.
Let’s enable app crash dump collection by copying following words into notepad, saving it as dump.reg and importing it:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\localdumps\WORD.EXE]
"DumpFolder"=hex(2):63,00,3a,00,5c,00,63,00,72,00,61,00,73,00,68,00,64,00,75,\
00,6d,00,70,00,73,00,00,00
"DumpCount"=dword:00000010
"DumpType"=dword:00000001
"CustomDumpFlags"=dword:00000000
Then, open Word to repro the issue. If crash issue appeared, please find the crash dump file under c:\.
To further help you, please upload this file into OneDrive and shared the link here.
Also, you can try to analyze dump by yourself if you would like to:

Error message when opening video files on z10
when opening video files, showing error-the file can't be played due to an unexpected error(-3). request a solution to resolve this
Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness shows up, the first thing to try is a proper reboot:
Pre-BB10 Devices ONLY. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
BB10 Devices. Hold the top button down until the counter reaches zero. Wait for the device to be fully shut down (e.g., nothing at all displayed on the screen, no LED lights, etc.). Hold the top button until the red LED is lit. Wait through the full boot-up process. If this fails, you can attempt the battery-pull method above, but it is normally NOT recommended unless nothing else works.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Otherwise, please provide additional details...for example:
What, exactly is the true file format? Not simply the file extension, but the true format?
Does the file extension match the true file format?
Where was the file created?
Does the file work on other devices?
Do other format video files work OK on your device?
What is your exact OS level, and what exact app are you using to try and play the file?

Adobe Reader 8.1.2 (admplugin.apl) crash when opening PDF files
Hi,
I did spend some time today trying to get Adobe Reader 8.1.2 to run on a Citrix Access Essential 2.0 server.
Setup
Server OS:
Windows Server 2003 SP2 - fully patched.
Other software:
Office 2003 Standard, Danish, SP3
Symantec Antivirus 10.1
Adobe Reader 8.1.2, Danish
The installation is clean (1 week old).
Problem description:
When opening PDF files, Adobe Reader crashes before showing any content from the PDF file. The module crashing is admplugin.apl.
Work-arounds tried:
Uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe Reader 8.1.2 (DK).
Disabling Antivirus (service stopped)
Replacing admplugin.apl with admplugin.apl from Adobe Reader 8.0
Uninstalling DK version and installing US version.
Adding user to local Administrators to exclude any permission related problems.
Deleting Adobe folders from users profile Application Data\Adobe\... and Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\...
Turn DEP off
Solution:
Finally I gave up and installed 7.0.9 (Danish). It works as expected.
It seems that the problem is known and a few user has reported this. One Adobe KB article mentions the problem, and the solution is to disable some 3. party diagnostic/support tools provided by DSL providers. This is definitively not the issue in this installation.
Anybody from Adobe having any input to this problem?
Best regards from Denmark!Hi,
I am having a similar issue with Ver 8.1.2 running over cirtix with a similar setup to Jans-Peter.
The difference is that Reader opens fine but when you try to edit preferences it crashes.
This only happens on an citrix session. If I run reader on the server directly it works OK.
However after reading above I can replicate the problem on the server by moving or deleting the ADMPlugin.apl file.
Any further ideas at all?

I "upgraded" from Photoshop Elements... uh... mad old... to Elements 13 when my work computer got "upgraded" to Win8. Now I can't open EPS files which is how I receive collateral from our ad agency. What other vector files will work, and how can I convert EPS to these? Please be gentle if this is a stupid question - I know enough to be dangerous, but I'm not an expert at design by any means. I'm just frustrated because this isn't quite the "dead" file type that Adobe thinks it is. What was the point of upgrading if I'm pretty much left in the lurch?
Thanks to any and all who can help! Much appreciated . -ASIadriennesaia a écrit:

What's important to understand is that Elements is a 'pixel' editor, not a 'vector' editor. As such, it has very limited 'vector' capacity (fonts, shapes...) What you are missing from older versions is the ability to convert vector items to standard pixel image file. To be able to open and work on eps files, you'd need Adobe Illustrator, which seems overkill for your purpose.
So, your options are:
- to request your ad agency to supply pdf format images instead of eps ones. My guess is that eps is beeing largely superseded by pdf, but I am not sure...
- Use external tools to convert from eps to jpeg; a Google search would return free softwares like Irfanview or web based conversion.
- You might want to keep (or reinstall) older Elements versions just for that purpose. -

Please a solution against crashes when opening a file with Acrobat XI pro?
Hello,
Am a member of Adobe Creative Cloud.
Am also constantly having crashes when opening a file with Acrobat XI pro.
Am running on Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1, 64 bit - RAM 20 GB -
The crash happens systematically after the installation of the update. Within one day I uninstalled and reinstalled the program 4x! It takes of a lot of my time.... Thank you for providing a definitive solution!
Best regardsI've been having the same issue! I try to open it and it crashes - says re-open, it crashes... I re-installed it yesterday and it opened and worked fine. Closed it out at the end of the day thinking everything was finally fine but this morning the same crashes it had yesterday... HELP!!!

How do I resolve the issue Cannot open the file ".indd". Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing , or the file may be open in another application?
Shouldn't the CC version be able to open any file created in an older version on InDesign?
Yes, it ought to.
If the older file wasn't yours (if someone emailed it to you,or burned it on a disc, or whatever), then I am almost willing to bet you a beverage in the city of your choice that it's not a complete InDesign file. That is, maybe it was zipped and renamed, or the beginning or end of the file was chopped off during download, or something like that. The only reason I'm not actually making the bet is that there is a remote chance that I'd lose, and maybe you're in Adelaide or Khabarovsk or somewhere where the cost of airfare to me would make that bet a very expensive bet for me to to lose. So no latte for you if I'm wrong!
The script that Jongware posted will tell you what version of InDesign made the file to begin with. Additionally, if someone did something like rename YourFile.PDF to YourFIle.INDD, it'll report that it's Not An InDesign File. Because while SpectrumPCS is kinda right and that message can be generated when attempting to open a CS5 file in CS3 or whatever, it also spits out the same message when you just try to open an Autocad file, or a Windows system file, or a PDF, or any file that InDesign actually cannot open at all.
