Issues with colour management when printing since resetting cs5

I have recently reset my CS5 so that I could attempt to restore my auto color and auto tone options. Since doing this, my color management is very off when printing.  The images are darker, and more saturated than usual, as well as significant colour shifting.  I have tried various printer and computer settings and tests, recalibrating my monitor and printer, and attempting troubleshooting with articles online. I have also tried resetting photoshop again, thinking that I may have thrown off the settings when trying to fix my auto color options. I have also run nozzle and print head checks, and everything has come up fine. I am pretty sure there is something wrong with the photoshop side of the printing. I am kind of at my wits end as I am running out of ideas to resolve this issue.  I am a windows user, and I am printing on a Canon ipf8100.  Please help!

u are probably not getting much help on this unless you post screenshot of your process (starting with File> Print window)
remember, Photoshop can print a document correct regardless of how it looks on the monitor (and vice versa: Photoshop can display a document correct regardless of how it prints)
i recommend getting a known target like the WhackedRGB.jpg and see where the problem is occuring (in Photoshop color management settings, on the monitor, on the printer or both)...

  • Issues with image centering when printing from CS5

I contacted EPSON tech support about this issue, they are putting the blame on the application used - in my case Photoshop CS5 printing with an EPSON R2880.
I am trying to figure out exact print tray margins to take into account when printing horizontal 13x19 images on EPSON's Hot Press 13x19 paper on the R2880 (via manual roll single feeder).
These are not borderless full frame images, 13x19 image files set on white with exact white frames around the image, so the shift in centering becomes quite obvious on the print.
Here are the two print settings I have tried, both do not center the image correctly:
Selected Scale to Fit Media & Center Image Top:0 Left 0.105
Selected Center Image: Top: -10,152 Left -0.118
(margin values are entered in the print window automatically)

  • Issue with Color Management and Print Module

The is a repost per request from a comment on Julieanne Kost's blog...
Having sticky output settings can be useful but now that LR has a color managed workflow, it introduces some problems. For example, if a Proof Copy is created and edited to a particular profile, then that copy is taken into the Print Module, if the output profile that has “stuck” from the previous job does not match you have a problem. It would be nice if the behavior for proof copies would be to automatically match the editing profile or at least warn of a mismatch. And while it is nice to be able to create a Saved Print with all the output parameters, it would be helpful to be able to create saved sets of “Print Job” settings assuming that they will be consistent for a particular printer/ink/paper combination (and whatever “Print Adjustment” you have found to your liking) then easily applied to any image being prepared for output. Perhaps a “save setting” selection under the “Print to:” menu.

So what you propose is the templates are proof copy sensitive and if they are setup for profile A but the proof copy describes profile B, then everything but the template defined profile is honored? I could get behind that idea (but what if one selects multiple VC’s with differing profiles and goes into Print?).
That's pretty much it. It does get complicated quickly as you look at multiple VCs or (and I think we need to start making the distinction between proof copies and ordinary virtual copies) if you bring a mixture of PCs and VCs into the print module. I would suggest that the default behavior be to set output profile of the PC as defined in the PC and retain the "sticky" behavior for ordinary VCs.
I also think that having the ability to save a "Print Copy" may change what we need out of the templates and perhaps their overall function should be re-evaluated.
The VC name should show you the profile used for soft proofing if you have the overlay on. That helps too. My concern are those who work with these VC’s and the text overlay is off.
I'm not getting that behavior. The only place the copy name shows up in the print module is in the filmstrip header. Maybe I have a preference set wrong somewhere... Still, I'd rather the software take care of making the match rather than having to double check to make sure I haven't inadvertently changed the profile somehow (i.e. clicking on a template just to see how it would look on another size paper).

  • Issue with Colour Management

One of our technican has installed a peice of software on the computer and (I believe) edited some colour settings which has caused this issue.
The issue I have is that the colour are not displaying correctly, see the picutre below. After selecting 100% Magenta the colour is appearing and exporting as Purple?

  • Problems with color matching when printing...

Hi, I work for a small family business in the P.O.P. industry.  We currently have myself and one other designer, we both take illustrator files that have come from the graphic design firm that we contract with and get them ready to print on our Vutek QS3200.  However ever since acquiring the printer we have begun to run into problems with the colors when printing.  When the files are exported off of my computer, I use either .tif or .pdf files, they print as they should, the colors seem to match the proof and everything goes smoothly.  However when the other designer exports a file, he tends to do mainly pdfs, the colors tend to be extremely different from where we want them.  Also we will get very strange results, such as yesterday he kept getting a faint yellow 1/2" border around his prints.  After I believe 3+ hours of him trying, I was given the original CD and instructed to try.  After 15-20 minutes of making the changes that we needed to make (adding a new price point) and ripping, mine printed perfectly.
We both use Macs, both have CS3 Design standard, only differences between the computers are mine is newer and a bit faster, and I'm running OS 10.5.6 and he has 10.4.  He has also at some point loaded various color profiles, whereas my CS package is just whatever the default is when I loaded it.  When we were being trained he grabbed the color profile off of the Colorburst RIP server and loaded onto his computer, plus I believe he has a couple for freelancing purposes on there as well.  My thought is that these profiles are somehow corrupting the files that are going through that computer, but I honestly am lost with it at the moment.  He believes the problem lies within the fact that he does not have the newer OS, I honestly cannot see that as having any effect on this at all.  I was wondering if anyone has run into any similar problems, or if anyone might have any advice on this issue?  I would really like to be able to solve this, as I was hired to do mainly structural design for the P.O.P. and I'm having to put in a lot of overtime to get my work done along with the additional work that I'm having to do.
    Thanks for your time

I've got a few years experience calibrating large format printers.  First, the Yellow sounds like a file problem.  I used to work with two workstations, one PC ( RIP station ), and one Mac ( file prep station ).  I tend to agree with you in that the OS is probably not the problem.  But, any Colorburst profiles should remain in the RIP, not in the originator application.  My workflow consisted of creating EPS files that were based on established color settings in their given applications ( i.e., Illustrator, Photoshop ) which were interpreted by the RIP which had it's own calibrated profile ( perhaps more than one based on how many different substrates were being used ).  Your partner may be complicating things by incorporating a RIP profile prematurely.  If there are deviations big enough to be noticed, there has to be something in the application color settings that is causing some type of corruption.  This could lead back to the operating system, but I would think it lies somewhere in Bridge or the application color settings.  Start there.  You should seriously consider implementing a calibration system if you do not have one already.  Another slight possibility is the driver's ability to interpret files coming out of Leopard vs. files coming out of Tiger.  It may benefit you both to be in the same operating system dynamics, using the same driver versions and RIP profiles.  At the very least, match everything that is currently working successfully and put them on both machines.  If there is still a noticeable problem in color matching, then something is seriously wrong and you should call in a prepress profiling expert.  Hope this helps.

    Hi BC,
I have an issue with BC. When the shopping cart is used it takes stock out of inventory and holds it, regardless of whether or not a customer proceeds to purchase. OK.
To make matters worse, the stock is only cleared from the shopping cart when the customer closes the browser - not when they close the shopping window.
Now lets say a customer doesn't close their browser for a month - it happens! .. when their stock is finally returned it may throw out our stock levels that have in the meanwhile been adjusted. So their stock will be added on top of an accurate stock take, putting stock in that isnt really available.
    This is causing us mayhem.
We have not yet seen if stock is actually returned at all. In the test we did today where we filled a shopping cart then closed the browser without making a purchase, the stock was not returned immediately. So we dont even know when it will be returned - thats IF a customer actually closes their browser. Any solutions out there?
    Jo

    Hi there,
The way stock is managed in this situation is desirable for many in that case otherwise shopping on a site and adding to cart would not be viable or use friendly.
What you mention about not closing a browser though is a case that is not true. IF you go into the shop settings in the admin you can see the cart restore timer which is by default 24 hours but you can change this to as low as 1 hour if you wish.

  • Aperture colour management vs Printer colour management

I am quite new to both Aperture & Mac, having moved over from PC and generally Adobe software.  I shoot RAW mainly, on a Nikon 200 and use a Epson R1800 printer.
I have used a Spyder 3 to calibrate my screen and I am happy with the on screen images.  However I have used both Aperture 3 and the Epson colour management to print a few versions and am struggling to get the same satisfaction on paper.  Previously on a PC (sorry for that) I had few problems with matching screen to paper.
Any thoughts or similar experiences would be most welcome
    Thanks

I think you will find in the dialogues for printing the suggestion to turn off printer control of the color, and simply allow Aperture alone to control.  This is recommended.

  • Having issues with profile manager on 10.9 loosing users/device assignments.

I'm having issues with profile manager on 10.9 loosing users/device assignments. Luckly I only have arround 70 devices added so far. The first time it happened I thought it was just a freak thing, but it has just happened again. What I find weird is nothing on the server was changed, no devices added. So when this happens my users phones lose access to email, because I'm using variables, which rely on the user being assigned to the device. Anyone know how to fix this, and if not. Does anyone know how to backup and restore just profile manager in 10.9. Thanks.

I enabled all users in my AD "Domain Users" group access to "Profile Manager". I had also initially enabled "Profile Manager" access for a few individual users. Those users did not loss the device assignments. I'm not absolutely sure why/if allowing access for a group is causing this issue. Enabling access for each person would be very time consuming.... Maybe adding access to the individual users is importing that user into OD?

  • Separator page prints out with wrong name when printing from Outlook 2010

Working with Windows 7 Enterprise, Outlook 2010.  We've set up our desk printers to print a separator page with the user's name, as several people use the same printers in our building.  Printing from IE, Word, etc. all work fine, and it'll print
out the correct username on the separator page.
When anyone attempts to print an Outlook email, it instead prints out my username.  We've found that it doesn't happen if they click on the "quick print" button, but it happens every time if they do "file > Print" or Ctrl+P.

    Hi
As per the information and details provided by you that separator page prints out with wrong name when printing from Outlook 2010, please follow these steps: -
To create a custom separator page file, use a text editor such as
Notepad. On the very first line, type one single character, and then press
Enter. The character on this line defines the character used as an escape character. For example, the following list assumes that this character is the at sign (@).
Enter the escape codes for the functions you want, and then save the file with an .sep extension in the Windows System32 subfolder.
In the Print Manager, select the printer that you want to use the separator page file with, and then click
Choose Properties on the Printer menu.
    Click
Details, specify the name of the desired separator page file in the
Separator File box, and then click OK.
    Note:
Put the custom separator page file in one of the following locations:
    In the %Windir%System32 folder.
In a folder whose path contains a SepFiles folder. For example:
    Drive:\Folder\SepFiles\Subfolder
I hope this information will be helpful for you.
    Thanks and regards

  • Why does the K5400 use up colour ink when printing greyscale?

Please let me know why all K5400 printers use up the coloured inks when printing only grey scale, is there a way of stopping this waste of inks.?

    There are a few possibilities:
The color drops are typically much smaller than the black drops so color is used for grayscale graphics unless "use black only" is checked in the driver.  Depending on your operating system and driver this may be an option.
Black ink is generally not compatible with photo paper.  If you are using photo paper only color ink will be used.
Color ink is used for servicing to keep the nozzles clear.  See here for information on how ink is used.

What kind of RFC do you use? If you use synchronous RFC the caller waits for the answer/result of the called function. In normal cases this should solve your issue.
