Issues with Flash - Firefox 7.0.1 on Windows 7 & Firefox 3.6.23 on Mac OS 10.4

I'm having an issue with Firefox vs Flash, and having scoured the web haven't found an answer, so any help appreciated.
I work on a Flash website which uses URLLoader to load XML - previously working perfectly until Firefox and Flash updated to versions:
FF 7.0.1 & Flash 11,0,1,152 (Windows 7 v6.1)
FF 3.6.23 & Flash 10,3,183,10 (Mac OS 10.4.11)
Data load produces IOError, but not in Safari, IE, Chrome, Opera. Where to start!? Is this a Firefox or Flash issue?

*BUMP* Does anyone have any ideas? Or has anyone managed to fix this problem for themselves?

Sollution to Firefox 3.6.8 issues with Flash 10.1.53.64 !!
Had the well known problem after upgrading to 3.6.8.
Found that many people had the same problem also.
After investigating A LOT about this one i've found that if you set, in about:config, the parameter " dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npswf32.dll " to FALSE it solves the problem !!
    So...
    dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npswf32.dll == false

While I have not contacted Adobe, I am sure the answer will be don't use Firefox 3.6.8. ( The compliment to the answer you gave. It not Firefox that has the problem but Adobe.)
Since the only solution that I have seen is to disable the key reason to use Firefox 3.6.8 (crash protection) then the problem would appear to be in how Firefox as done the crash protection.

  • Issues with Flash Pro CS5 on Mac

    Hi,
I recently bought a MacBookPro 15", 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5, 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3 and CS5 Creative Suite. Built in Intel HD Graphics and NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M.
Hi have some issues with Flash Pro:
    - when objects on the stage are quite big (for example a 800x3000 movie clip), it start showing strange colors and wrong position, however when double clicking the movie clip to edit it, it looks correct. Also no problem when publishing. See images attached, the first one is correct, the second one shows the problem, when editing the mc in the 2nd image i get the third image that is correct.
    Correct:
    Wrong:
    After entering editing mode:
    - after a while, when making a change in the stage or in the time line (deleting frames for example), it doesn't show it immediately, but i need to refresh the page. This happens more when opening many fla in the same time. Closing and restarting Flash fixes it, for a while.
    - after a while it doesn't show when selecting an object, the object looks like is not selected, however i can see that it is in the properties panel.  This happens more when opening many fla in the same time.  Closing and restarting Flash fixes it, for a while.
Hi have been using CS3 and CS4 with less powerful computers before (always mac) and i never encountered these issues.
Removing preferences and Application support files didn't help. I also updated Flash  to v. 11.0.1, but no joy.
Does anyone know what's the problem?
    Thanks a lot.
    Mike

Based on some searching and testing, it seems that if you redirect ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash CS5 to a location on the local hard drive, rather than the network account storage, the problem ceases.
I hope this helps anyone else who may run into this problem.
    Take care,
    Branden

  • After the recent update I am having issues with Flash based games freezing and not responding.

After the recent update I am having issues with flash based programs not running or loading correctly.  The programs will not load or take an extremely long time to load compared to jsut a few days ago.  This happens across the board on anything flash based.  Also, once they do load they will freeze, stop responding or need to be constantly refreshed to come back alive which is short lived at best.  I went thru the help and did all the file deleting, cache clearing, disabling hardware acceleration, removing then reinstalling flash, and even removing and reinstalling my browsers.  None of this has helped at all.  I am using Chrome and it is up to date and I checked my Flash player and it is up to date.  I am running windows 7 64bit.

Here's what you're up against guys,
Adobe writes the base code for Flash Player, and then hands it off to Google, who adapt it to a PPAPI plug-in (it's NPAPI when Adobe writes it). It's then "PepperFlash" and Google embeds it in their Chrome browser. While Google is pushing a "webwide" move to PPAPI Flash Content, a reinvention of the wheel so to speak, not everyone "got the memo", and Google is slowly making it so that PepperFlash will block NPAPI Flash content from running properly, and you have to disable PepperFlash to force the NPAPI plug-in to work, which sometimes fixes it, sometimes not. I have a feeling this is only going to get worse. HTML5 will eventually resolve the video end but game developers need to come up with something that won't require a plug-in.
And to the first post:  Since PepperFlash is embedded in Chrome by Google, you can uninstall and reinstall Flash Player from here until your hard drive literally seizes up.... guess what? It has NO EFFECT at all on the PepperFlash plug-in in Chrome because it's a separate file in a separate folder and the uninstaller & installers don't have anything to do with it.

  • Issues with Flash player in CC

    Hi,
I am facing this issue with Flash in CC. We have recently upgraded our Adobe suite from CS6 Master Collection to Adobe Creative Cloud ENT.
The video playback in the software(Flash in CC) is incredibly slow and choppy, which makes it difficult for students to work on their animation.
This is happening with all PCs using Flash CC, there are few students who have Flash CS6 on their PCs and they aren’t having this problem.
    Thanks,
    Ram

    Hi Mohan,
Thanx for the response. below are my specs:
    Specs:
Windows 7 Pro, Service pack 1, build 7601
    Intel Core i5 760 2.8Ghz
    5 GB RAM
    Nivdia Gefore GT 220
    Just tried your recommendations.
The performance issue exists for both the stage/timeline playback as well as test movie. I tried the suggestion to close the timeline and it doesn’t seem to make any difference.
When playing back footage, the FPS display on the timeline can be seen to fluctuate.
I’ve also tried another thing: Closing Flash CC and opening the test movie SWF file, which opens in Flash Player 11 and it plays perfectly fine.
    Tanx.. Ram

  • Interface freeze issue with Flash Projector

I am facing an interface freeze issue with Flash Projector running a flex state based application. A Flash Projector exe was generated from a standalone flash player ver 10.2. The target machine on which the problem occuresd has 10.3.
Basically "screen freeze" means that the user interface is running as usual on Flash Player, but it's not responding to any user input (like button presses). But if we alt-tab to another application, the state changes in the Flash player. There is display with buttons on the screen, but touching the buttons or doing anything else - it did not respond.  Rebooting the computer fixes the problem.
Can you suggest why this is happening? Is there any known bug in Flash Player.
The problem is this is being hard to reproduce on the developer workstation as it doesn't happen always. But it happens quite often on the target machine running an Intel Atom N270. What debugging steps can you suggest?
    Problem Description : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z25oV9QWRyk

First, thanks for the video.  Having this always makes it much easier to understand the problem.  A couple of recommendations.  First, if you feel like this might be a player bug, please add a new bug report over at bugbase.adobe.com and if possible please include any sample code or swf's that can help us reproduce the problem internally.  Linking the video would also be great.  In addition, would you mind reposting this question over on the Flash Professional forums?  This forum is primarily for end users, the Pro forums will get you in touch with a wider developer audience who might have additional feedback.
    Thanks,
    Chris

I don't know if this is the right section but I experience the following issue with Adobe Acrobat Pro XI installed on Windows 8.1. When I start Acrobat the related window opens normally but, after some scroll up and down along the document, it blocks, Acrobat doesn't respond to any command I can give and, in place of the pointer arrow, a vertical bar, as the one of the text editor appears. The only way I can stop Acrobat is by means of the task manager. I tried to de-install and the re- install Acrobat but the behaviour is always the same. What can I do??

Have you opened Acrobat and gone to Help>Updates to get an updated install?

No. You have no alternative but to plug it into a computer running iTunes and restore it.

  • Firefox constantly freezing due to issues with Flash. Please help.

I was running the firefox 20 beta (and have been for a while) when in the last few days, suddenly any time I tried to open any site that used even the slightest amount of flash, the browser would freeze for minutes on end before finally releasing a "plugin error" type message about Shockwave Flash. If i clicked 'continue' it would stay frozen. If i clicked 'stop script' then sometimes it would fix it, but most of the time it would keep freezing and showing that same message over and over until I stopped the process in task manager.
First I tried to update flash and shockwave- both are up to date. So i decided to delete the files themselves and the programs via add/remove and reinstalled them. Still did not fix the problem.
Next I tried to do a reset firefox to default state. This didn't work. I tried doing it again with the flash files deleted/uninstalled AND I rebooted the computer and the problem still persisted.
Finally, I tried to downgrade to a more stable version of firefox, so I downloaded 19 and it still didnt work. Tried the uninstall/re install for flash one more time and nothing.
At this point, I cannot access about half of the pages I usually go to on the web and I need help here, please anything will do.
One thing that I noticed that might be helpful is that no matter how many times i uninstalled or reinstalled flash, every time it would try to run, task manager would show two instances of it, each using different amount of memory.
again, please please help. If there is any solution short of a total wipe it would be greatly appreciated

hello, maybe it's an issue with the protected mode in the flash plugin - you could try if [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/flash-113-crashes#w_solution-2-downgrade-to-flash-10-3 downgrading to flash 10.3] (which is still supported) or [http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1018071#TemporaryWorkaround disabling protected mode] makes a difference.

  • I am having a very fustrating issue with flash

I am running flash in IE8 on a win 7 laptop with flash version 10.1 plugin.  i can install it and it will run for a while. but once i restart my system or close my browser and start it up again.. it starts to crash. then the problem will migrate to my other browsers.( firefox and chrome) this has started happening since i upgraded to 10.1 from 9. whatever.  and i cannot just re-install it to get it working again.. i have to shutdown all browsers. uninstall flash through the control panel reboot , then install , reboot then it MAY work. any help would be very appricated. the biggest culprit is facebooks flash app cityville. It is the one that is really causing this issue.

Hello BaoBae,  Since no one knows what problem you had, since you didn't start a thread, it's difficult to offer your solution to others. Especially when you don't know what their problem is:-) There is no one fix.
Why go thru everything you have posted here, when the problem may be a simple turning off the hardware acceleration feature? This is just one example. Or how about  an addon in the browser and disabling it and that is the solution?
Offering a solution before knowing the problem is having the cart before the horse and really isn't helpful.
You most likely know what your problem was, but no one else does that you are giving your solution to on the threads here.
If this solution solved whatever issue you were having, that's great. But it won't be for everyone, nor should it be.
Finding out the problem and then the solution is always the order:-)
    Thanks,

  • Issues with flash and other adobe products.

Ok, so i've been using flash player for quite a number of years now aswell as other products like acrobat reader when i used windows, over the years flash player has developed into a totally inneffecient and almost unusable product. on top of the security issues of past with flash player and especially acrobat reader, with remote code execution vulnerabilities, i have, as have thousands of others noticed a very large decrease in performance with flash.
i should note that a year or two ago, i could play HD flash content no problem, both 720 and 1080 resolutions, full screen without any issue. i would expect it to take up a decent portion of cpu cycles, which it did, i use to be able to run flash content at 720 with about 30 - 50% cpu usage. now it seems with flash 10 my AMD Athlon 4000+ struggles to play even 720 videos. My cpu is by no means a top performer, it is however capable of handling somewhere in the region of a billion instructions per second. for video content to require that amount of data to be handled is rediculous.
HD content played back on my local machine using a different codec, my cpu barely even uses 5 - 10% cpu time, not only that, these videos have roughly about the same compression rates as flash videos. i just don't understand how flash can require so much resources without taking into account innefficient and bloated code.
today i tried to access a web page that required flash content to display images, it was not a video, but an image database, going from one page to the next took somewhere in the region of 20 - 30 seconds, while my cpu maxed out at 100% and firefox stopped responding, which is totally unnacceptable.
it wouldn't normally be a problem if there were good alternatives, but there aren't any, im stuck with this piece of crap software if i want to view any flash content. the only real alternative is to upgrade, which i am not prepared to do if the next version of flash is just going to push those boundries even further for features i don't need.
    my proposal is to:
    1. rewrite the code with effeciency rather than new features in mind, if that means getting able programmers in, then so be it.
    2. make flash modulous, where the basic package provides capabilties to play flash content and separate plugins to provide for all the individual unnecessary features that are not required for basic flash content. surely you can build a package that provides all those plugins for regular users and a basic package + optional plugins for those who know what they want or need.
it really makes no sense why such a large corporation with all this experience to provide a product that quite simply.. sucks, well it does actually, either your programmers are incapable of creating a stable, efficient product or you are purposly trying to push hardware upgrades onto people. lets not forget that flash content is huge business on the web, adobe flash player has a strangle hold on that market, it would be naive to think that hardware vendors have not approached adobe with specifications to further make the money wheel go round.
sort it out, because i for one, am in the process of completely removing my dependancy on adobe flash, if the right product comes along, others will do to, in droves. it's a bubble that is going to burst and there is no way back when you have millions of lines of quite frankly, amateurish code.

    Eric,
The GTX 650 would be priced slightly higher than the GT 640 - and then, the OP would have to "settle" for only 1GB of graphics RAM instead of 2GB. The GTX 650 is currently not available with 2GB of RAM.
Both the GT 640 and the GTX 650 are based on the same GPU - the GK107, with 384 CUDA cores. The two major differences are that the GK107 on the GTX 650 is clocked higher than the one on the GT 640, and that the GTX 650 has almost triple the memory bandwidth of the GT 640 (80 GB/s versus 28.8 GB/s).

  • Win 8.1 stutter issue with Flash 15.0.0.189

    Greetings -
I am having stuttering issues with 2 brand new 8.1 computers running flash.
I've done a fair amount of troubleshooting and I believe it's an issue with Win 8.1 and Flash 15.0.0.189 (I don't know about previous versions.
Running this version of flash on my Win 8.0, HP works fine in both IE and Firefox
Running this version of flash on a new (few weeks old) custom built Toshiba Satellite S with Win 7 preloaded works fine in both IE and Firefox
But then I bought a Best Buy "blue label" Toshiba E45 with windows 8.1 I have stutter with both IE and Firefox.
No updated video drivers, but I reinstalled anyways. Also uninstalled/reinstalled flash as well as Firefox. I also unchecked " hardware acceleration" no difference. Changed screen resolution on my desktop, still had problems
Returned it and bought a Lenovo U430 with Windows 8.1 today...still have stuttering on FireFox and IE
Apps that run Silverlight work just fine.
It seems to me that there is an issue with Win 8.1 with the most recent version of Flash.
If an adobe staff member would like me to test the HP or Lenovo U430 further to resolve the issue, please let me know. I really can't handle all this stuttering.  I would really love to help get this resolved asap.
If staff would like an example, Gracepoint on Hulu. The most recent episode The first stutter came in when 24:56 min were left at the show and then 22:55 min left. I then switched over to IE and had stutter with 21:20 left in the show, 17:56 left, and then 17:02 left.  But it really is random.

Hey, same problem here. System: ASUS N56JK, nVidia GeForce GTX850M with latest dirver (344.60), Win 8.1, Flash Player version: WIN 15.0.0.189. Browser Opera 25, IE 11.
Video (full screen and window) stutters time to time. Audio is fine. HTML5 works also fine. Tried all possible variants (disabling HW accel., drivers update, browser update etc.) - nothing helps.
Dear Adobe experts, you'd better look on to this issue asap, as it's massive. Can't open a bug report, so write it out here. Can send 'DxDiag.txt' file by request if needed.
Meanwhile will look for Adobe FP alternaitives on Win OS..

  • I have issues with Flash Player 10, can you help resolve this?

    Hello everyone,
At the risk of giving too much information:
    I run a Mac iMac 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2.5 GB 667 MHz DDR2 5 DRAM with OS X version 10.4.11
    The issue:
I recently did the following things,
    a) Downloaded and used Safari Version 4 Public Beta (4528.17) Without any issues.
    b) Downloaded and used Flash Player 10.
Prior to this I wasn't aware of any issues, so I shall assume that Safari and Flash Player 9 worked fine together.
I also run Opera version 10.00 Beta, Firefox version 3.0.1.0
Here's the issue, when I visit BBC iPlayer and select a TV or Radio progamme I get this warning ..."A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player 10 to run slowly.  If it continues to run. your computer may become unresponsive.  Do you want to abort the script?" YES/NO ( attached file).
Selecting Yes or No results in the TV or Radio Progamme continuing to play but all control is lost so a Force quit is neccessary.
This issue applies to Firefox and Opera.
Sky.com doesn't appear to suffer these issues in as much when I've uninstalled Flash Player, Sky asks for 10 to be installed and works fine once it's done.  I should add that I installed Adobe AIR after the issues began without any resolution.
No doubt when you know what the issue is it's resolved in a flash, so come on who out there can help me...please.

    Hello Chris,
Thanks for the Flash settings instructions, that was useful and now I understand that all those particular options are available from a right click.  Having said that in this case I still wasn't able to resolve my issue, although I can right click and by clicking anywhere in the Adobe Flash Player Settings panel select or deselect there doesn't appear to be anyway to save that selection,(attached).
I should say at this point that I'm thinking that if my issue might be display speed then by disabling hardware acceleration this might resolve the issue.
    Regards
    Chris Antjoule

  • Issues with Flash Player Plug in

Hi i have had my mac book pro since oct of 2008 and since the beginning it will not work properly with an flash player plug in. I have had several people tell me to remove it then re-download it and i have done that several times. now here is my issue with the flash player on my computer it shuts down the internet randomly and gives my an error message that says this shut down and may be due to flash player. and if i take it off i cant see any video. i want to fix this issue is there any way of doing that? thanx for your time

Just to assure you that you are not alone - Flash Player constantly crashes the internet connection on all of our office Macs. It's completely random and doesn't seem to be related to hardware or software configurations at all. It can go for weeks or months with no problems, and then the same random crashes with the same error message.
It does work better in Safari than it does in FIrefox.
You can check out the adobe forums, but I'm not sure you will find a tremendous lot of help...
One thing -- removing and installing Adobe Flash by itself is usually not enough to clear out the system. You might want to get a 3rd party program that deletes programs and all their residuals. You can find them by doing a search of VersionTracker.com
Normally, you would then also need to reinstall a fresh copy of Safari as well. Make sure you back up your bookmarks before deleting and reinstalling Safari. Follow the directions on the Apple Support forum on how to fix Safari problems.
