Issues with my performance GE70

HI guys
I'm having a problem with my laptop with the frames and performance on star wars the old republic i keep on getting 5-15 fps on very low setting any suggestions on how to make it better or has something changed ?
My specs are:
CPU I7-4700HQ
GPU GTX 860M
RAM 8GB
HDD 1TB + 128GB SSD

I had the same problems with some Games, have you checked ifyou start the game the Blue Light turns Orange ? if the light is blue he use the Intel Graphic, if it turns Orange the Notebook use the Other graphic unit.
If it rest blue if you start the game you can change this in th Nvidia Control Panel / 3D Settings / Manage 3D Settings / Program Settings. here you can choose at point 1 the game and at point 2 the grafic unit the notebook use.

  • Issues with WebForm performance

    Hi,
We had migrated a new application from UAT to PROD and we encounter webform performance issues with the following actions..
After login, the first form you open it is
always slow. After this you can switch from one form to another without a
    delay.
Then once you change any data – the next time
you access a form it gets delayed.
The point to be noted is, it doesnt have any performance issues in the UAT environment and the configuration settings, essbase cache settings are all the same. We did try to move the EPM system to a new server to see if this is a hardware issue but no luck, the performance issues still exist. The consumption of the CPU/memory has been checked and it is proved that the form opening delay has nothing to do with lack of memory.
The JVM head settings is set up at 4GB which is infact higher than that of the UAT environment(2GB).
runs on Windows server2008,11.1.2.1.600 EPM serve, has planning, reporting, foundation on one server (32GB ram) and essbase on another server (32GB ram). Any help is appreciated.
Please find attached the planning logs below and there is nothing mentioned in the hyperionplanning error logs.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I already replied there but it seems no moderator is willing to approve my reply so it never shows up.
So I'll try replying in here instead:
I never thought it could be an emulator issue, I thought I had done something wrong to begin with. So I take having performance issues with tiled layer is not a common problem I suppose?
I'm using MOTODEV SDK platform, A1200 model (motorola).

I am doing a lot of analyses with 10.9.2 on a late 2013 MBP, and these analyses generally last hours or days. I observed that Maverick is slowing them down considerably for some reasons after few hours of computations, making it impossible for me to work with this computer...

  • Issues With GameCanvas Performance

Hello, recently I've been toying with java mobile applications, but I've run accross a problem I cannot overcome.
My LayerManager has two objects: the sprite and the tiled layer. Whenever I add the latter to my layer manager, I get 1-2 FPS when rendering the screen, but if I remove it and have only the sprite displayed, I get above 30 FPS.
My layer has the following properties:
    TiledLayer mbg = new TiledLayer(15,20,tiles,16,16);
    Any help appreciated.
PS: Getting 1-2 FPS on a crappy computer, but the same application running on a fast machine won't get past 11 FPS, although the main game loop is supposed to run at 20 FPS.

  • Issue with a "perform in program" call.

I am trying to do a call to a form in a zprogram. This call is being done inside an enhancement.  The reason for this is because I can't delcare forms in the enhancement.  Below is the issue:
The parameters I am trying to pass are typed as follows (in the SAP enhancement - SAP code):
    types: begin of mrm_rbkpv.
            include structure rbkp_v.
    types: begin of mmcr_drseg.
            include structure drseg.
    types: mmcr_tdrseg type mmcr_drseg occurs 0.
I have the following as the call to the form and the form declaration:
    PERFORM cancel_ret IN PROGRAM zcancel_retention USING e_trbkpv e_tdrseg[].
    FORM cancel_ret  USING p_tdrseg TYPE rbkp_v
                          it_tdrseG TYPE J_1IDRSEG.
    I am getting a run-time error saying:
An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_DYN_CALL_ILLEGAL_TYPE', was
         not caught in
procedure "EXIT_SAPLMRMP_010" "(FUNCTION)", nor was it propagated by a RAISING
         clause.
Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
The reason for the exception is:
Call to FORM "CANCEL_RET" is incorrect:
The actual parameter no. 1 has a different data type in the
PERFORM than requested for the FORM "CANCEL_RET" in program
         "ZCANCEL_RETENTION".
This is telling me that the system doesn't see  e_trbkpv being the same type as  p_tdrseg.  However, I can't see why they aren't the same time.  I also assume I will have the issue with the second parameter.  The table type (in my opinion) J_1IDRSEG should be the same type as mmcr_drseg.
Any ideas?  The enhancement I am using is EXIT_SAPLMRMP_010 (LMR1M001).

Aaron, I was not aware of the type pools as mentioned I don't have access to the system at the moment. But type pool has type declarations as well, so what I meant was pulling out the 2 declarations that you need into your Z program could have solved the problem :). Which will happen now since you've included the type pools.
Anyways good to know that you problem is solved.

  • Issue with sql performance

Hi, I am experiencing an issue with a couple of sql statements.   The rest of the db seems to be performing optimally.
A little history:  Stats typically were never touched on this db and they were old (I mean very very old).  However, the database performance was optimal.  Recently we ran into an issue (turned out to be hardware), but in the troubleshooting, we deleted the old statistics and refreshed the stats across the board.
Prior to this incident, these queries would finish in mere minutes.
Performance for a few queries is sub optimal now.
When I execute this query it is performing ok returning a values in just over a minute.
    select MAX(fr.fee_rqst_sid)
          from fee_rqst fr
          where fr.prcd_dt <=  to_date('15/10/2013', 'DD/MM/RRRR');

    |*  2 |   TABLE ACCESS FULL| FEE_RQST |   148M|  3262M|   404K  (2)| 01:20:49 |
When it is executed as part of the slightly larger query it belongs to performance drops to over 40 minutes.
        select MAX(ch.clm_hdr_sid)
        from clm_hdr ch
        where ch.fee_rqst_sid <= (
          select MAX(fr.fee_rqst_sid)
          from fee_rqst fr
          where fr.prcd_dt <=  to_date('15/10/2013', 'DD/MM/RRRR'));
    PLAN_TABLE_OUTPUT
    Plan hash value: 2801176651
    | Id  | Operation                    | Name       | Rows  | Bytes | Cost (%CPU)| Time     |

    |*  5 |      TABLE ACCESS FULL       | FEE_RQST   |   148M|  3262M|   404K  (2)| 01:20:49 |
I've create/dropped an index on the date column figuring it might help but it did not as a full table scan still occurred.
The primary key indexes have up to date stats and are not corrupted  indexes.
Again this is production and the rest of the db is running optimally and this db is used heavily.
I did run a sqltune but no new results yielded.

There are no recommendations to improve the statement.
Any advice on what else I can check?

Before asking this question, next time you would need to ask this forum to clean their crystal balls.
Your many many lines boil down to:
My car doesn't run, please fix my car, as there is insufficient INFORMATION to work on, and plenty of RIDDLES
1 Your database doesn't seem to have a four digit version
2 Your database doesn't seem to run on an OS
3 The statistics where 'refreshed across the board'. How that happened, this forum needs to guess.
4 Which indices are present on this table, this forum needs to guess
5 Which part of the table satisifies the where clause, this forum needs to guess.
So the obvious would be to answer all of these questions AND run the statement with event 10053 set, so the optimizer decisions are dumped to a trace file,

And lastly, I find it more and more annoying, many people don't seem to a have a name, and post 100 percent anonymously.

  • Issues with "Higher performance" setting on Macbook Pro with external monitor

    Hi all,
I rarely used the "Higher performance" setting in the Energy Saver pane of System Preferences.
I use my MB connected with an external monitor, with its own screen closed. I tried to switch that setting on and the external monitor seems to repeatedly turn off and on. This strange behaviour vanishes if I open the MB's screen, using it in a double monitor configuration.
Did anyone hear about some similar problem?
p.s.: I don't know if this is the exact location for this thread, any suggestions is welcome

It was set to 1080p, 1920x1080 did not show up as an option (even when holding the option key). 1080p should be equivlant. As as experiment I grabbed another monitor that was not being used. It is a 22 inch LG with a maximum display of 1920x1080, and its currently set to 1920x1080. The issue is a little different, was not detected as a TV this time, but the screen still looks blurry. There may be some improvement but not much.

  • Windows 7 icons disappear/reappear Green Progress folder bar issues with slow performance. HELP!!!

Hi there, I hope someone can help me. This all started about a week ago. So I tried a fresh reinstall from my recovery disk. to no avail. Ok I have Home Premium 64bit and it seems my icons in my user folders and subfolders and the actual file icons are
blank stand ard or missing. after a while they reappear to normal. the green progress bar in the explorer folders always lags and never fully completes. It hangs. Now I see that it takes 30 secs to get a program to open. Currently my control panel screen is
blank and my connection between my ipod touch 5g and my desktop is very slow at data transfer. I'm going bonkers! The only things I altered was turning off WMM in my router, Installed a software someone gave me (only to find out it was a crack software) deleted
that first! and used CCleaner to clean my registry

    Hi,
So a total reinstall didn’t fix the issue?
We may take a try with the following article to make Windows a better performance.
    Optimize Windows for better performance
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-hk/windows/optimize-windows-better-performance#optimize-windows-better-performance=windows-7
Then, please check to see if any new updates available, also the related drivers, make sure they are up-to-date.
After that, if issue insists, please refer to the following article to run chkdsk command in CMD to check if there are disk issue.

  • Many Specific Issues with Mac Performance after Yosemite Upgrade

    I have a MacBook Pro Retina 15”--Late 2013
Ever since I upgraded to Yosemite, I have experienced the following problems:
Preview locking up after I attempt to open a document or photo
None of my files will be visible in certain views (e.g., Download Folder will appear empty)
Trash and Junk Folders will disappear in Mail
Spotlight will not search for anything when I attempt to use it
Google apps (e.g.,  Search, News, Gmail, Maps) will usually not open initially when I try to open them in Safari—will just time out with a message that website will not respond… If I close out the tab, then try to re-open it, it usually works. I also tried them out in Chrome, and they seem to load with no problems.
Initially I contacted Apple support. They had me delete several cache files, ran disk utility, etc. This seemed to help for a while, but problem returned.
The next step: I performed a clean installation of Yosemite.  Eventually, the symptoms returned.
Last step:  I took my computer to the Genius Bar at a local Apple Store.  The tech ran several diagnostics and found no problems.
Finally, the Genius Bar tech. asked me how often I shut down my Mac;  I told him ‘not very often’.   His recommendation was that I restart my Mac every once in a while… (not specific on frequency)….
Restarting it every couple of days seems to be the only thing that works…
Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
The test works on OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later. I don't recommend running it on older versions of OS X. It will do no harm, but it won't do much good either.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of it have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message. See, for example, this discussion.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. Try to test under conditions that reproduce the problem, as far as possible. For example, if the computer is sometimes, but not always, slow, run the test during a slowdown.
You may have started up in "safe" mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    PATH=/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/libexec;clear;cd;p=(1286 ' 0.5 0.25 50 1000 15 5120 1000 25000 6 6 5 1 0 100 ' 51 25600 4 10 25 5120 102400 1000 25 1 400 40 500 300 85 25 20480 262144 20     Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, a series of lines will appear in the Terminal window like this:
    [Process started]
Part 1 of 8 done at … sec
Part 8 of 8 done at … sec
The test results are on the Clipboard.
            Please close this window.
    [Process completed]
The intervals between parts won't be exactly equal, but they give a rough indication of progress. The total number of parts may be different from what's shown here.
Wait for the final message "Process completed" to appear. If you don't see it within about ten minutes, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, press the key combination control-C or command-period to stop it and go to the next step. You'll have incomplete results, but still something.
    12. When the test is complete, or if you stopped it because it was taking too long, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak for themselves, not for me. The test itself is harmless, but whatever else you're told to do may not be. For others who choose to run it, I don't recommend that you post the test results on this website unless I asked you to.

  • Issue with query performance

    Hi,
    I have a multi provider with 2 cubes & 3 ODS & 1 info object.
On top of this MP queries are built. All the queries are in 3.5
It takes more then 30 min to execute each query.
Now we are planning to replace all 3.5 queries in 7.
We will build cube on top of 3 ODS. New MP will have 3 cubes & 1 Info object.
My issue is, the other 2 cubes are too large. We have around 4 million records in each.
And i need only few fields from these cubes.
Is there any way I can have less load on MP?
What would be the best approach to improve query performance?
    Thanks,
    Gowri

    Hello Gowri,
I think you should take the help of Aggregates.
You may create aggregates on the 2 large cube, using the characteristics
that you are using in the Query.
Since that cubes are having large amount of data, the use of aggregates will consideraly
reduce the Data manager time i.e. time spent by the query in retriving data from info-provider.
for more details on aggregates please refer the following link:

  • Issues with ESSSVR performance and memory consumption

    hi,
I'm facing some major challenges figuring out why the ESSSVR process on my UNIX box consumes a huge amount of memory, some times almost 99% of the RAM is taken away by it.
I am trying to look for log files that can explain this behavior, but i just can't find anything that can help me.
Our loads are incremental, and they run 6 times a day, we need to do some serious explaining on these spikes.
Can anyone help me out as to how I can find out the reasons for such high memory usage, because the records coming in are very normal, and these spikes lasted for about a half hour.
Please share any information about any log files which can give me a trace of the performance.
In case there are any commands in UNIX that can bring out performance logs of a particular process name on a particular day, or any performance tracking commands that I could use, please let me know.
Please not that this is a UNIX server nad not a LINUX one.
I would apreciate all the help I can get here.
    Thanks in advance.
    Anindyo

Here it is with some optimizations added (the biggest by far are not using local variables and build array in the for loop). I'm not sure if it works exactly the same but should give you some ideas. As a general rule avoid local variables, and use data flow to decide order of operations instead of sequence structures (this can't always be avoided though).

    Hi
Instead of using the LOOP under LOOP directly. use the read statement for second loop and from that index u start the loop.
    eg:
    LOOP AT ITAB1.
    read table itab2 with key field1 = itab1 - field1.
    if sy-subrc = 0.
    loop at itab2 index sy-tabix.
    if  itab2-field1 = itab1 - field1.
    < do u  r operations >
    else.
      exit.
    endif.
    ENDLOOP.
    this will increase the performance

  • Performance issue with the Select query

    Hi,
I have an issue with the performance with a seclet query.
In table AFRU - AUFNR is not a key field.
So i had selected the low and high values into s_reuck and used it in Where condition.
Still i have an issue with the Performance.
    SELECT SINGLE RUECK
    RMZHL
    IEDD
    AUFNR
    STOKZ
    STZHL
    FROM AFRU INTO table t_AFRU
    FOR ALL ENTRIES IN T_ZSCPRT100
    WHERE RUECK IN S_RUECK AND
    AUFNR = T_ZSCPRT100-AUFNR AND
    STOKZ = SPACE AND
    STZHL = 0.
I had also cheked by createing an index for AUFNR in the table AFRU...it does not help.
Is there anyway that we can declare Key field while declaring the Internal table....?
ANy suggestions to fix the performance issue is apprecaited!

    Hi,
Thank you for your quick response!
Rui dantas, i have lill confusion...this is my code below :
data : t_zscprt type standard table of ty_zscprt,
           wa_zscprt type ty_zscprt.
    types : BEGIN OF ty_zscprt100,
            aufnr type zscprt100-aufnr,
            posnr  type zscprt100-posnr,
            ezclose type zscprt100-ezclose,
            serialnr type zscprt100-serialnr,
            lgort type zscprt100-lgort,
          END OF ty_zscprt100.
data : t_zscprt100 type standard table of ty_zscprt100,
           wa_zscprt100 type ty_zscprt100.
    Types: begin of ty_afru,
                rueck type CO_RUECK,
                rmzhl type CO_RMZHL,
                iedd  type RU_IEDD,
                aufnr type AUFNR,
                stokz type CO_STOKZ,
                stzhl type CO_STZHL,
             end of ty_afru.
data : t_afru type STANDARD TABLE OF ty_afru,
            WA_AFRU TYPE TY_AFRU.
    SELECT AUFNR
            POSNR
            EZCLOSE
            SERIALNR
            LGORT
            FROM ZSCPRT100 INTO TABLE T_ZSCPRT100
            FOR ALL ENTRIES IN T_ZSCPRT
            WHERE   AUFNR = T_ZSCPRT-PRTNUM
            AND   SERIALNR IN S_SERIAL
            AND    LGORT   IN S_LGORT.
        IF sy-subrc <> 0.
           MESSAGE ID 'Z2' TYPE 'I' NUMBER '41'. "BDCG87
           stop."BDCG87
        ENDIF.
      ENDIF.
    SELECT    RUECK
                  RMZHL
                  IEDD
                  AUFNR
                  STOKZ
                  STZHL
                  FROM AFRU INTO TABLE T_AFRU
                  FOR ALL ENTRIES IN T_ZSCPRT100
                  WHERE RUECK IN S_RUECK     AND
                        AUFNR = T_ZSCPRT100-AUFNR AND
                        STOKZ = SPACE AND
                        STZHL = 0.
Using AUFNR, get AUFPL from AFKO
Using AUFPL, get RUECK from AFVC
    Using RUEKC, read AFRU
In other words, one select joining AFKO <-> AFVC <-> AFRU should get what you want.
This is my select query, would you want me to write another select query to meet this criteria..
From AUFNR> I will get AUFPL from AFKO> BAsed on AUFPL I will get RUECK, based on RUEKC i need to read AFRU..but i need to select few field from AFRu based on AUFNR....
    ANy suggestions wil be appreciated!

  • Performance Issue with PAY_BALANCE_VALUES_V View in Oracle R12

    Dear all ,
We have recently upgraded from 11i(11.5.10.2) to R12(12.1.3). We are facing one Issue with slow performance of the queries where PAY_BALANCE_VALUES_V is used. We have so many reports & logic in Payroll which uses this View.
In 11i this works fine, however in R12 it takes very long time. There are no configuration changes we have done from 11i to R12.
Is there any way to optimize the performance or alternate way to retrieve the Balances Data in Payroll ?
Any heads up would be highly Appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Razi

    Hi Razi,
The balance related performance issue is written in the following note.
Note:1494344.1 UK Payslip Generation - Self Service Program Takes Much Time To Complete (Performance Issue)
This issue was fixed in HR_PF.B RUP6 or patch:14376786. Did you apply this patch? If not, I suggest you apply it.
Also, HR_PF.B RUP6 has some balance related performance issues.
If you already have applied HR_PF.B RUP6, I suggest you log a SR with SQL trace.
    Thanks,
    Hideki

  • After several repairs, still having heating issue with MacBook Pro (mid '09)

EDIT: this post got removed the first time for not being constructive enough. I've now edited the post.
This is going to be a lengthy post, so bear with me.
2 months ago, I suddenly noticed my MacBook Pro (medio 2009, 15", 4GB RAM, GeForce 9400M) heating up a lot harder than usual. I'm familiar with the heating issues these laptops have, but this wasn't normal. Looking at iStat Pro, I saw my fans almost taking off like an airplane at 5700 rpm, while watching only a livestream on my browser. I know Shockwave Flash takes up quite a chunk of your CPU, but I had never encountered this problem beforehand.
The biggest problem wasn't just the heat or the fans, but the fact that my computer also started reacting rather slowly. Sometimes I'd even get beachballed, or the whole browser stopped responding for half a minute...
So I tried to see if gaming was still an option. Of course not. I had been playing League of Legends for several months without any issues. Whilst playing, I'd kick up my fans manually to about 4000 rpm, and they'd stay there throughout the whole game. Now, when I start up the game, it plays smoothly for the first 2 minutes. After the temperatures rise to a critical level, the fans start spinning up to 5700 rpm, and the whole game plays like a powerpoint presentation.
On a sidenote: it sort of 'lags' every 1-2 seconds, and sometimes, after a long period, the game acts somewhat normal again (20 mins). This game uses wine to run, which isn't the most optimal way. So I tried playing Team Fortress 2, too. Probably even worse results! (but again noticeable 1-2 second interval lags)
Before anyone starts screaming: "Don't use your Mac for gaming!" etc., I wish to point out that these two games had been running perfectly for the past few months/years. Something's definitely wrong.
After looking for some solutions myself, I decided to go to an authorized Apple Service in my city. A few days later, they told me my logic board was broken, and I had to pay almost 700 euros ($ 900-1000) to replace it. So I did. I got it back, but it wasn't fixed. Brought it back in. Got it back a week later: "Your new logic board we got from Apple was already broken, but we hadn't noticed. We put a new one in it. It's fixed." Again, same problem.
We're almost 2 months later and 700 euros poorer, still no result. I've brought it in about 6-7 times now, here's a list of what they've tried so far:
    - In total 3 new logic boards
    - New MagSafe (because they discovered it was giving too much power too my laptop)
    - Fresh re-install
    - Replaced RAM
    - Checked fans etc. (they do this by default)
    - A few tests which proved that it was repaired (but I have my doubts with these tests...)
They told me now that it's fixed, and they basically won't look into it anymore. I must contact Apple myself, if I wasn't satisfied. The tests they performed showed no signs of heating issues. (One of the tests was playing 4 1080p movies at the same time. When I watch a 1080p movie on Youtube, my laptop is taking off like a plane) They ran a stress test all night long, showing no temperatures above 98°C. I got it up to 105°C in a few minutes according to iStat Pro.
They advised me to install Mountain Lion, which would make the issues with "high-performance sites" go away. I haven't seen much improvement, though.
This whole experience has been quite frustrating, especially now that I'm gonna need my laptop for University again. Isn't there anything I can do? I've paid almost 700 euros and missed my laptop for 2 months, without any results.
I've got more information regarding the issues if needed, ask away. I'm getting desperate.
I've been browsing around the support communites, and found that a lot of people are having issues since they upgraded to OS X Lion. Could this be the case? Should I try downgrading to Snow Leopard?
I've also found a few topics on refreshing the cooling pasta on the heatsink. Would they have noticed any problems with this after replacing the Logic Board several times? Or should I check it myself? I'm not too keen on opening up my laptop myself...
    Nick.

    Thought of buying Parallels? Fusion?
Might want to see if this gets moved to the MacBook Pro forum.
I'd think Windows 8.1 is smart enough (what I use 90% time since the Dev Preview came out couple yrs ago it seems like) to find the driver.
