Issues with Rectangle tool

Hello,
I am having an issue. I have created three pie chart grahics with some text and boxes. Everything was created in Muse, except for the three piecharts, which are PNGs. I created a colored box (using the rectangle tool) and placed it behind the content. When I view as a preview (as well as preview in browser), two of the graphics look fine but the first one, is a couple of pixles shorter in height. I am attaching a screen shot of the MUSE workspace and the preview screen shot for comparrison. Each on of the green rectangle "containers" should be 600 px in height, but when I inspect the element in the broswer, the first "container"'s height is 594px and the other two "containers" heights are 599px each. How is it possible for the first "container" to lose 6px in height and the other two to lose a px each in height?
Can someone please help me with this? As a designer with little coding knowlege, I really love the potential of MUSE, but it's these little "quirks" that eat of my time and really aren't cost effective to my project budgets and timelines.

Problem rotating rectangle (selecting corners) after creating with rectangle tool in illustrator

I'm using the latest CC version of Illustrator. When I draw a rectangle using the rectangle tool, I no longer seem to be able to select the corners to resize the rectangle nor does the cursor turn to a rotate icon when I put the mouse just outside the corner. I know that Ai CC treats rectangles differently now, with the live rectangles and the rounded corner options, and the transform box opening automatically. What I'm wondering, and hoping isn't the case, is whether this is this at the expense of being able to go right in and resize using the just the mouse? I know that there is the "Object > Shape > Expand" option, but having to do that for every time I draw a rectangle is time-consuming and adds and extra step that was unnecessary before. I saw a tutorial on Lynda where the instructor drew a live rectangle in CC AND was still able to resize it by grabbing the corner "handle". Anyone know if this is just a setting I need to turn on or something similarly easy, or is it a case of Adobe inadvertently making the workflow longer when trying to make it easier? And yes, I have "show bounding box" selected under VIEW.

I am afraid you have come across the Live Rectangle bug which is limited to the MAC versions starting with 10.7 and 10.8, but not 10.9 (Mavericks) or 10.10 (Yosemite). Hopefully, the bug will be fixed soon.
So a switch to Mavericks or Yosemite with a reinstallation might be the way to solve it here and now.
To get round it in each case, it is possible to Expand the Live Rectangles to get normal old fashioned rectangles, or to Pathfinder>Unite, or to use the Scale Tool or the Free Transform Tool.
A more permanent way round that is to create normal old fashioned rectangles, after running the free script created by Pawel, see this thread with download link:

PS CS6 issue with crop tool: graphic glitches

I am using Photoshop CS6 v13.1.2 and I'm experiencing an issue with the crop tool. Whenever I use the crop tool, move the frame around and then zoom in on the image, the image becomes noisy, pixelated or has other 'graphic glitches'. I changed the PS preferences to not use the GPU and then rebooted the computer. Still the same issue without the GPU.
Running on Mac OS 10.8.3, iMac 2011 with AMD Radeon HD 6970M.
Is there another workaround to use this tool until it might get fixed? Thank you.

I've seen the same issue from time to time on windows 13.01.1 usually only on rather large pixel dimension documents.
Does it make a difference if you flatten the image before using the crop tool?
Also, using the classic mode for the crop tool doesn't seem to have that glitch.

Changing Thickness of Lines Created with Rectangle Tool in CS2?

I am trying to change the thickness of the lines for a rectangle drawn using the Rectangle Tool in Photoshop CS2.
I can not figure out how to change the thickness of the lines of the four sides of the rectangle before I draw the rectangle using the Rectangle Tool or after the Rectangle has been drawn. The same problem seems to occur when using the Polygon Tool, Ellispse Tool, etc.
I can transform the rectangle to make it bigger or smaller, etc. but it seems like I should be able to vary the thickness of the lines for a rectangle.
Is this task possible in Photoshop? It's simple in Illustrator - this seems like it should be a pretty simple task in P-shop. I have looked on Google and in Help for P-shop CS2 for an answer but can not locate a solution. Am I not seeing something really obvious?

I am making a path. That said, in Photoshop CS2 I don't see where I can select a brush size once I have selected the Rectangle Tool to increase the desired thickness or weight of the path for that rectangle. Since I am creating a path why would I use/select a brush size? I have attached a screen shot which shows what I am seeing when I select the Rectangle Tool and attempt to change the thickness of the path. The attached image aslo shows what I am trying to accomplish. I don't see where I can select the weight or thickness - even when I right-click with the mouse, etc. Even if I try to change the Style from the Option bar it seems overly complex for such a simple task.
When using the Line Tool in Photoshop CS2 you do have an option to change the line thickness or weight but when I click on the Rectangle Tool that option for changing the the line thickness or weight disappears.
I realize P-shop CS2 isn't specically designed for drawing, like Illustrator, but what I am trying seems simple.
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Issues with selection tools using PS CS6

OK, I'm having issues with selections in Photoshop CC… This video shows my issue (which I never had with CS3). Basically, I go to select an area within an image, and then the selection area disappears, and when I go to move the selection area I am unable to get the selection to "drop". This happens regardless of whether I'm using my wacom tablet or my trackpad. My mac is a 2009 macbook pro running 10.8.5. Updated my OS and wacom tablet with the latest drivers. I've gone into preferences and disabled the GPU, but to not avail. Haven't run into this issue at work using CS6 (but i'm on a windows box there) Any ideas? Issues With Move Tool on Elements 12

I have elements 12 on my windows 7 laptop. my problem is I open up a new project and open up any image or photoshop file to drag it over to add it to my project but the image does not transfer to the other project tab, it stays in the original tab. I can easily do it with elements 11 but I've had elements 12 since it came out and it's been a really frustrating problem as I want to be able to use elements 12 now instead. I've tried using holding down the control button and have tried looking around for this issue but so far I haven't seen anyone with this issue with a windows laptop, just Macs, please help!

There should be different options available in the user move status for that user, including the option to retry the entire move from the start. In many cases this is recoverable by retrying the move. Other options are possible if this fails.
Before doing so, have a read through Tommy's cool solution & the Novell documentation (if not already done so) on the details of the move.
! Also make sure you have set both POA's to verbose logging so you can monitor the move messages from the sending as well as receiving end.

Licensing issues with altered tools.jar

Hello,
I wanted to know, if it would be permitted if I would ship an edited tools.jar with my application.
I would not charge my customer for the original Java-source code, I would also include the license-files that come along with the tools.jar and I would even make the affected code available publicly. Would that be enough or is it simply prohibited?

Issue with Clone Tool and Adjustment Brush in LR5.3

If I export a .TIFF from LR5.3 in which I've used the Clone Tool or Adjustment Brush Tool and then load the .TIFF up in Photoshop CS2 to perform further edits, I can't save the file to a .JPG - I get a '...program error...' message during the save. If I turn off the tool and export the file from LR5 again, I can do the edits in Photoshop and save it as a .jpg. The same thing will happen in Capture NX2 trying to save the LR5 exported .TIFF to .JPG. Has anyone else experienced this and are there any workarounds?

***UPDATE*** 3/7/14
Apparently no one has experienced the issue as I posted above, but in case anyone is interested, I have discovered a workaround. For some reason, the issue manifests itself when I export the TIFF with the option 'Metadata - Include All Metadata'. If I change the Metadata option to the 'Copyright Only' or 'Copyright & Contact Info Only' I am able to open the TIFF in Photoshop, make edits as needed, and then save as a JPG. Apparently LR5 is doing something weird with the Metadata file header that Photoshop and Capture NX2 doesn't like under certain circumstances.

i've some trouble with a specific document. I could not align any rectangle or define a specific size. For exemple, i choose 600px x600 px in the top "menu" bar, illustrator change the values by 599,641 px
It's the same in inch, mm..ect
The second thing it's if i choose a specific coordonate to place the rectangle , it's change by illustrator.
Any ideas ?

I'm using J2SE 1.5.0 with NetBeans 5.5 so they all should be there. I'm following the example at http://userpage.fu-berlin.de/~ram/pub/pub_jf47ht9Ht/evaluating-expressions-with-java since all I want to do is come up with a Java equivalent of "eval()", which I use in PHP whenever I need it.

How do you do the Java equivalent of eval()?The language provides no support for that.

the naming conventions;

Issues with type tool and Illustrator CC

Hi,
I am working in a file in Illustrator CC and when I click in a text box to select the existing text, it doesn't let me. Is this a bug? Am I doing something wrong?
Also, the area outside my artboards that's usually gray turned white somehow (think I accidentally hit a button.) How can I get it back to gray? Thanks!

Maybe the selection is hidden. Press Cmd+H resp Ctrl+H
The area outside the artboard is a preference. See preferences.

Issue with Hierarchies

Hi ,
We are working on BO on top of BW pilot version and finding different issues with different tools.
1) Used existing BW queries/created universe.When we run the report using Web Intelligence, not able to get the way Hierachies displays in BEx.(Tree like structure).
If we enable drill up and down option, the summary level disappeas only we can see the lower level.Which I think is a useless information to the user as it appears like a flat file data.
We created the report with possible Hierarchies upfront like a canned report, but doesn't give any option to drill up/down further, doesn't allow the user any other activity, other than dragging/dropping some columns.
2) Tried to create the report in Crystal, but because of the page limitations, I cannot get all my columns in the same page( I have 35 columns)
3) To derive the reports in XCelicius, my business partner tells me that they need to create queries on Excel to use that functionality.They are preferring to go with R/3, rather than BW, which will be again significant amount of work.
I wonder if anyone encountered these kind of issues ?
Providing these limitations, I don't see much value of having this tool on top of BW.Any comments?
I agree, it is a great tool on top of relational databases, as we are using this tool on relational databases and didn't find these many issues.
Can someone provide me the list of advantages of having BO on top of BW? I mean what BO can offer when compared to BEx( We only use BEx, no Web)

perhaps I can bring in some clarifications :
- Crystal Reports is able to leverage the hierarchies and use a parent child relationship and show the hierarchical levels from BW. It looks like the challenge you have in Crystal Reports is that you have a lot of columns that you would like to have in your report. Crystal Reports is layout driven so you could actually set a size of the report by configuring the page setup.
- web Intelligence is exposing a hierarchy based on levels so that the user can leverage the levels in the report. when enabling the drill down you could actually go from a top level down to multiple levels of the hierarchy
- Xcelsius can leverage multiple different sources: Web Services, Crystal reports, web Intelligence. Xcelsius can use Live Office to connect to existing reports from Crystal Reports and web Intelligence.

Issue with SaveAs PDF using XSLFOP

Hi, We have been using SaveAs method to generate PDF files using XSLFOP technique successfully, however, recently we ran into an issue where a very large report (about 100+ pages) generated a PDF file that could not be opened. We get the following error when we try to open the PDF file. “There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired.” We tried it again with lesser range of dates and the proper PDF file is generated. (Report was about 35 pages). So we think it has something to do with the large volume of data which is causing the SaveAs method to generate the corrupt PDF file. Any help will be much appreciated !! Note : In the same folder where we have the EXE,PBD and DLLs, we have two subfolders fop-0.20.5 and jre. Thanks, Chirag Vora

We submitted this problem to engineering 10 years ago with PowerBuilder 9 !!!
It appears to be a problem with the FOP processor which needs a large amount of memory to complete the task. You can find similar issues with other tools than PowerBuilder:

As a workaround, you can save the data in XSL-FO format within PowerBuilder, then use the fop.bat file in the \Shared\PowerBuilder\fop-0.20.4\ folder to convert it from outside PB.
This will still give you the memory error until you modify the batch file to increase the maximum heapsize for java.
In the fop.bat file change the java start command to : java -Xms64m -Xmx256m ...
The option -Xms definies the initial heapsize for the java engine and -Xmx the maximum heapsize.
We believe the default maximum heap is 64MB and this is what it is running into (or running out).
Setting it to 256MB with -Xmx and it was able to complete
