We have had lots of articles about Photoshop alternatives in our camera club newsletters.  (The OP is a club member)

They take the best part of a week out of every month to put together, and I am VERY over it, so I shall be either handing over to a new editor next year, or they can do without a newsletter.

You should have gotten this information with the error: "Shut down Microsoft Office and all web browsers. Then, in Acrobat or Reader, choose Help > Check for Updates. See also Error 1603 | Install | CS3, CS4 products." Also, be sure you log in as the administrator and disable anti-virus.

I have a new Nikon D750 sitting on my desk and can't edit the photos with any adobe product?  We are in full wedding season and am a little frustrated.  Photo mechanics opens them right up to download them.   I am using the Nikon software to convert them into tiffs.  when is the camera raw update coming out.  I am not the only photographer with this issue check out all the chatter about it.

This happens every single time a new camera comes out from one of the two big camera makers. Nikon and Canon do not send preproduction units to Adobe, so Adobe has to go out and buy a D750 or whatever from the store to test and profile it before they can update Lightroom. They can't get one earlier than you and I can. The profiling is quite an extensive operation. Other camera makers do send preproduction units, use dng, or do the profiling in-house and there you often get support right from release. If camera makers would finally embrace an open raw format such as dng, this whole problem would be gone but both Canon and Nikon seem to think they live in an upside-down world where their clients only use their software.
Usually the dead period only lasts a few weeks but it is frustrating nevertheless. My only advice is to not buy a new camera at the day of release and expect to have third parties to support it. You definitely should not be buying these cameras right away if your business depends on it. Aperture, Capture One, etc. have the exact same problem. No third party (read non-Nikon in this case) will support the camera from the release date. Some are quicker than other adding support. Adobe is somewhere in the middle of the pack in this respect. Nobody outside of Adobe knows when an update comes out. Could be tomorrow, could be a few more weeks or a month. They might jump straight to Lightroom 6 and never add direct support to LR 5. Sometimes they will first bring out a beta version of dng converter that will convert the new camera's nef files to dng, which will work fine in the current Lightroom before updating Lightroom itself.

  • Possible to do the 3d motion tracking text in video with only adobe products?

I am very interested in doing some 3d text in some video with motion tracking, such as you see in the opening shots in the show Fringe.
You will have a scene of maybe a street in the city, the camera is looking forward and moving, you have 3d block text that seems to be just hovering there up off the ground but looks like a real physical 3d object in the shot as the camera moves around.
I have been looking up tutorials for this in After effects on youtube but they always use other non adobe products as well such as boujou or 3ds max,  I am wondering if it is possible to make the same shot with only adobe products. If so, what whould I use other than after effects.  And lastly, can anyone point me to a good free tutorial using only adobe programs if there is one out there?
I have seen one video of someone adding text to a moving video but it was flat or plastered onto a wall and not the nice block letters that look like a sculpture in the video.
    Thanks.

I am wondering if it is possible to make the same shot with only adobe products.
No, you can't and that settles all your other questions. For tutorials, refer to VideoCoPilot's matchmoving and set extension stuff, but even then you will need to at least use some comemrcial third-party plug-ins.

It may depend on the plugin that is loaded into your browser. However, right click on a PDF and select the Open With option and go to the default button to select Acrobat as the default. That might do it.

  • Buying hardware with installed Adobe products

    Hi there,
I was looking at some eBay auctions and found that there are laptop sold with Adobe Master Collection. I asked one seller and he told me this is some kind of group license and I wouldn't be able to register under my own name. Personally I think this isn't completly legal on part of that particular seller (and obiously they boast about the retail value of the full package supposedly being included), but I wanted to ask a more general question.
Is it possible to buy legally a piece of hardware with an Adobe product preinstalled, sort of like Windows Oem version ?

Is it possible, yes. It is at all likely, no. If sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. You can report the seller at [email protected] Thanks for not posting link information here.

  • Integrating the new text engine with other Adobe products?

    Hello,
Is there any plan to integrate the new text engine with other
adobe products that dos not support RTL languages?
In famous products like AfterEffects or Director, No way to
type correctly arabic text or (rtl) generally - The only way is
converting the text to a graphic format in an external program !!
And there is no Middle East versions for these products.
So, I wish adobe thinks to take this step in near future.
    Thank you,

I found this blog post about an unsupported feature in CS4 products for Arabic, Indic and other scripts.
    http://www.thomasphinney.com/tag/indesign/
Since several Adobe products such as After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator use the same text engine you might want to try copy-pasting Arabic text from the Photoshop CS4 template provided in this blog post to After Effects CS4 and see if it works.  AFAIK Director uses a different text engine from PS, AI and AE.

  • Is there any way to convert to MPEG1 with any adobe product?

Is there any way to convert to MPEG1 with any adobe product?

This forum is actually about the Cloud, not about using individual programs
Once your program downloads and installs with no errors, you need the program forum
If you start at the Forums Index http://forums.adobe.com/index.jspa
You will be able to select a forum for the specific Adobe product(s) you use
Click the "down arrow" symbol on the right (where it says ALL FORUMS) to open the drop down list and scroll
Since you have all current products, you might check the forums for Media Encoder or Premiere Pro

  • Does anyone know of any licensing issues with various Adobe shapes?

I want to use one of the Adobe shapes available in the shape palette ( paw print) for a commercial product, printing it as part of a decorative design on a product. Has anyone heard of any licensing issues with these custom shapes?

Never heard of any issues, and I’d be stunned speechless (if you know me, that means very stunned) if there were an issue. They are provided with the program to add value and allow you to create artwork, much of which is expected to be commercial. Go for it and don’t sweat.

  • Encounter Installation problem with trial Adobe Production Premium CS5

When installing the trial version of Adobe production premium CS5 it fails to Install Adobe premiere CS5 and AE. The remaining applications in the suite are all installed.
I have followed all the suggestions from Adobe's site, and finally contacted their Tech Support, who could not resolve the issue sofar.
I have run their AdobeSupportAdvisor and it displays:cpsid_83570: Conflicting processes running while installing - Creative Suite 5
    I am running MAC OS 10.6.6 64 bit .
Hope someone can assist me with this.
    Thanks.

    I really appreciate your suggestions.
It took several attempts by the Adobe Technical support on an escalating level, including once a 6 hour telephone connection to have it resolved.
The last tech that finally resolved it took only two hours.
I already had Lightroom (ver 3.0, 64 bit) and Photoshop CS5(64 bit) individually installed with a legitimate license.
We had to clean out anything related to "Adobe", i.e. delete, uninstall, etc. Create another administrative account, then install the Production Suite(trial version) in Safe Mode.
The frustrating part was that every time I called back on the case, I had to answer the same questions regarding my operating system, like if I called in for the first time! I even had a slight argument with one Tech, who questioned the Graphics card. I purchased the IMAC just before Christmas (Snowleopard, 64 bit, 8 gigs of RAM, etc).
The developers at Adobe should make a better effort to make installations smoother. It was like a nightmare trying to install the software. I wanted to make sure that the software installed properly before I actually paid for it, and I nearly gave up on it after dealing with their tech support for a little over a week.
Hope that no one else has to go through the ordeal I went through.
    Frank.
As a final note, when I initially installed the software,  all components of the Suite would install properly, except for Adobe After Effects, and Adobe Premiere Pro.For some reason, Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro refused to be installed.
The last technician who resolved the installation issue(after cleaning anything related to Adobe), initially choose to install the Adobe Premiere Pro component of the suite by itself. Once Adobe Premiere Pro installed, the remaining components installed with no issues.

  • Dont Install Trial Lightroom with other Adobe Products!!!!!!!!

I have been experiencing many licensing proplems with Adobe and have found if you have any licensed products installed and then install any of the the adobe trial software it will mess up all your installed applications.  I have spent quite a bit of time on the phone with support and they have fix no other than to uninstall ALL adobe software and re-install.
Example:  I have Adobe Design Premium CS3, Adobe Web Premium CS3 and Adobe Acrobat 9.0 installed on a computer.  If you install the trailware and let trial run out of its trial period without buying or uninstalling....ALL your other Licensed Adobe products will NOT work.  I have had this happen to me 3 times and every time I contact support they say to uninstall everything and re-install.  I just realized today on my own that this was the issue.  I actually tested this out on a few other computers and can confirm any expired trial software from Adobe will prevent your licensed products from working.
Since support is NOT willing to help find out why this is happening, I am hoping this saves at least a few people from going thru the frustration that I have experienced.

    This
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/licensing.html
is the ADOBE licensening repair tool. It worked for me
    There is further advice here
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405970.html
    This document
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/401/kb401346.html
is also of relevence. Unfortunatly it refers to the locations for LR1 and these have changed in LR 2. I am not sure what the new locations are, but if you go back to support refering them to this may get them to tell you...they may even update the document.
Interesting that ADOBE support didn't refer you to it...
Uninstalling will not work and they should be aware of this.I had the problem recently with an old ADOBE Acrobat trial causing problems for CS4.I wasn't aware that LR trials could cause problems as I have never had one and it doesn't use the standard ADOBE licensing proceddures in that it doesn't require activation and the trial copy is the same as the "real" copy. But give it a whirl.

  • Activation issue with new Adobe form in subsequent systems

    Hi All,
I'm facing an strange issue in activating Adobe form.
The new Adobe form is copied from an existing form and assigned to a new output type of PO.
After tested successfully in Dev, we transport it to Q environment and other subsequent systems
But we will always get PO updating termincation error in Q and other systems firstly.
We go to SFP transaction and regenerated the Form there once, only after that it works perfectly and no termination error any more.
I'm not sure if I missed any step to activate the Adobe form as this is the 1st time I'm working on a new Adobe form.
I did activate the Adobe interface and form before releasing and TR consistency check was also carried.
Please let me kow if you faced the similar issue and what's the possible cause?
    Thanks for your inputs.
    Regards
    Vindy

not really, someone else mentioned that it could be done and they said they saw it before.  I've been beating myself up for a while trying to figure out how to get it to happen.   Is there an easy way to get the content of the pdf form into an email body with plain text when pressing a submit by email button?
    Such as...
    <label name>: <txtfield content>
    First name:  <txtfield content>
    ...etc..

  • Familar with other Adobe products but new to Encore...

    Hello everyone,
I'm completely new to Adobe Encore but have worked with many other Adobe products such as Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, and I am currently learning Dreamweaver. I recently picked up the Adobe Production bundle and am planning to put together a Demo Reel. I have heard that encore would be the best place to put everything together for a DVD. Since I am new to the whole program though, I don't exactly have a firm grasp of even where to begin. Does anyone know of some good websites I can venture to, to help get my feet wet with the program? I would greatly appreciate any sites that someone could posts or even books that I could read up on. Sorry if there is a huge faq page some where on the Adobe website here and I've missed it. Thanks!

I would also strongly suggest Jeff Bellune's Encore book, A Focal Easy Guide to Adobe EncoreDVD 2.0, Focal Press. Though the name contains "EncoreDVD 2.0," 100% of the book will apply to ALL versions of Encore, from 2.0 to CS4. Now, the Adobe Dynamic Link in CS4 is not covered, but that is a minor point, and the CS4 Help files (plus this forum) cover that very well. Though there are no AV files in the book, it is very clear, and will step the reader through both Encore and the DVD-specs, by which we all must live. This is my go-to reference for anything related to Encore and is just as useful now, as it was with the introduction of En 2.0.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
