It is just frustrating... "Missing Filters"...

Hi there!
After having a "book of problems" with iWeb I reinstall the whole app so I am now back to the 1.0 version.
I was working without any problems for five days but suddenly I got yesterday the message "The following errors occurred while trying to open this document / Type: Missing Filters / Description: None of the filters for one of the document's images could be loaded"
The last time I saw this was using the iWeb 1.1.2 three weeks ago: first some pictures simply disappeared under a big question mark, then every time you open the app new pictures are "gone with the wind". So I am back to the same problem again!
No idea what is wrong. Probably iWeb app is not so good when you want to have a long and professional website. I don't know. I have been working in one with 30 pages and 890 MB in total.
Any help would be appreciated. I have downloaded Rapid Weaver just now and I will have a look on it...

After Effects error: Missing Filters in the file.

I'm using CS4 in Windows XP SP3. When I work with video in Photoshop, apply filters as smart object, and save as psd, then import into AE as footage>merged layers, I get this message: After Effects error: Missing Filters in the file. The file open as just the footage with none of the work I did in PS.
Does anyone have a solution to this? Am I missing some step along the way?

Isn't it obvious? AE does not support smart filters. It will only use the rasterized content of a PS layer. Hence you will have to rasterize the layer in PS to retain its appearance with all the effects applied. Look in the help which specific PSD features AE is able to support and translate.

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Try reseating or replacing the SIM card.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).
Has any of the above been tried?

1.) Unable to set up a Opendirectory replica
Installed Lion Server from scratch on another system. Any effort to make it a replicating od server to the first one fails and falls back to "connected to network directory"
I am completely lost, walking through server.app, server_admin, directory utility, work group manager, command line, tons of logs on both systems. I GIVE UP (in SnowLeopard these things were not point and click easy, but at least worked eventually).
2.) Unable to get VPN working
Not changing anything at all, neither my iPad(2), nor my iPhone(4), both running iOS 4.3.3, can't get the VPN up and running. VPND gets something but keeps sending out new ip addresses (probably the client retries a few times, before giving up, while vpnd thinks connection is set up). The log doesn't really help me a lot:

3.) Trying to use Profile Manager to push VPN profile to the devices
I haven't used profile manager before but it looked promising. But I couldn't get it working. I managed to enroll my MacBook Pro immediately without any further problems. For my mobile devices I struggled with two problems.
a) My iPad is configured to use german language. This leads to the problem that the link "prefs:...." does not work. The device obviously does not know what to do with it. Since the same operation at least called preferences in my iPhone, I changed the only difference I could think of and setting iPad to English did the trick. After that I managed both devices to call preferences and trust my certificate...
b)... I thought. Because when I wanted to enroll either device I get an error: "The server certificate for https://......... is invalid."
4.) Mailserver
I got most things working.
-Individual mail quotas - I dnon't know where to configure this. Not so important - the previous values where migrated.
+Aliases where initially inactive --> running newaliases did the trick.
+Mailclients from internal network were not able to send mails -- had to insert in main.cf:
smtpd_helo_restrictions = reject_invalid_helo_hostname reject_non_fqdn_helo_hostname
5.) SMB fileserver
Got it working, generally. One strange behaviour is an accounting software on a win7 client. It breaks with a runtime error 56 or so. All files are visible and read and write permissions are set. No idea what got this broken.
After having spent several of my free days trying to work these things out, without success, I am so frustrated I can hardly describe it. It's been one of my worst experiences. Lion is such an enormous step backwards in regard of missing documentation and operability. Administration is massively more complex than before because you have to use more different tools and for many configuration items you don't really get good feedback regarding what they do to your system.
I still hope most of my problems stem from my own stupidity and, once documentation is available, things will clear up. Meanwhile I am considering downgrading to SnowLeopard on my devices, not upgrading other ones and reorient towards my Linux and Android devices.
I am really disappointed to this end.

We are seeing similar issues with SMB sharing. Basic file access, creation, etc., seems to work fine, but some software just borks badly. Our mail processing app refuses to run off of the Mac share. It used to run fine off of our Linux shares.
Sometimes Windows 7 will report that a file is already open by another user. Sometimes what is happening is that you do not have permisison to open the file. It should say "Access denied", but for some reason it thinks the file is already open. I've never seen this on Samba/Linux, only Lion/SMBX.
Other times, I have seen a document saved in Windows 7. When the user attempts to open it again, again it claims that the file is already open by another user. It's like it put a lock on the file between saves. Re-connecting to the share usually fixes this, but it should not be necessary.
I attempted to use Client Services for NFS (available in Wisdows 7 Ultimate) to get arround these issues. That was even worse.

Photoshop CS4 Extended missing filters

About half the filters are missing. The only ones listed are Convert to Smart Filters, Blur, Noise, Pixelate, Sharpen, Stylize, and other. Sometimes the rest show up when I open Photoshop, but most of the time they are just missing entirely. I have tried using all different RBG modes and tried 8, 16, and 32 bits and its all the same. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop. I've made sure that the menu is set to Photoshop Default. Nothing is working. Help, please!

Install CS4 on top of your current install and then apply the updated. CS4 should then be fixed and activated and your preferences and Add-Ons still installed. If you can not find your install CD you can download cs4 from Download CS4 products and the updates from Product updates.

Missing filters (in PS) after exporting from lightroom

I am currently moving my photo editing from a 32-bit WinXP machine to a 64-bit Win7 machine. For the time being, both computers have CS4 Design Premium and Lightroom 2.5 installed. All apps on both machines are currently up-to-date.
The issue, and this ONLY occurs on the 64-bit Win7 machine, is that all of my third party filters disappear when I bring a file from Lightroom into Photoshop. They aren't greyed-out. They are not listed. Period.
I've tossed out the PS preferences and made sure that both the 64-bit ver. of PS and the regular ver. of PS both point to the correct extra plugins folder.
It has nothing to do with images coming out of Lightroom in @ 16bit because they are exported that way on the XP machine as well. Filters that can't be run on 16-bit images just appear as greyed-out.
I can open an image directly in Photoshop and all of the filters are there. If I export the same image (and it doesn't matter whether I choose "edit in Photoshop" or "Open as a smart object"); if it's coming from Lightroom the filters are gone.
Does anybody have any ideas why this would occur and, more importantly, how to fix it because this is really crippling productivity?

Ahhhh, OK.
That makes sense and I can verify that by checking whether the filters show up in the 64-bit PS. (They don't).
So both Bridge and Lightroom open the 64-bit PS app by default.
Guess I'll have to go check and see if my favorite filters have 64-bit versions.

I'm not sure what you mean - did you mean save an image to 32-bit?
I don't have a way (that I know of) to control which PS exe. Lightroom sends to image to when I choose to edit in PS. I'm assuming it's going to the 64-bit app. But in any case, I don't think it should matter. I opened both PS exe's and made sure that both pointed to the same plugins folder.
I posted here because it seemed like a PS issue and I don't know what the policy is around here about cross-posting the same issue to different forums.

Frustrating missing something simple

I have an iBook G4 running 10.5.1 and I also have on this router Belkin 4 port wired an iMac running 10.4.11.
I usually network these two machines quite easily and have done for some time.
I recently had some minor probs and done a complete clean reinstall of leopard and I have transferred all I wanted from my cloned backup which I still have on the external FireWire.
All my network and firewall settings are the same as are the sharing, apple talk, NetBarrier and Little Snitch rules. The iMac I am trying to connect to is showing in my share and in network.
I can connect to this iBook no probs' from the old iMac but now no matter what I do I just cannot connect from the iBook to the iMac. Everytime I try I get
*connection failed* The server is not running try again etc. etc.
But all is running and the strange thing is if I use the Cloned back up firewire as startup disk it connects no problems.
This is frustrating me no end has anyone got any ideas.
EDIT: Just created a new user account with admin and that user could not connect either so it's not a user account problem ?????

Thanks for your reply. Finally solved it last night. Simple in the end but took ages to find it (and much hair pulling).
My Forms were saved as Dynamic XML. So I saved them as Static XML then reapplied Reader Extended features and it all worked fine.

HELP!! 1058 of my songs have just gone missing!

Background: I was running out of room on my HD so I bought a 1 TB external... I moved my iTunes library to it, and seemed to be ok linking it back up with iTunes, until right now.
About a half hour ago, I was trying to make a mix and it started not being able to find some of the songs. I tried relinking them... then I noticed that each time I'd relink them, they would disappear in the finder folder.
I opened it up and noticed that somehow half of my albums were in > iTunes/iTunes Music/ and half were in iTunes/Music/... I went back in to iTunes and looked at where the songs that were playing were located, and they were all in this "iTunes/Music" folder which seemed to have appeared on its own somehow.
Well, I decided that I would just move the albums from the first folder (iTunes/iTunes Music/) into this other folder... and when I did... BAM! Half of my music is GONE!!!
It's nowhere to be found... its not in my trash... and when I tried using Time Machine, it doesn't allow me to go back on the external HD... so I feel like I am F'd!
Can anyone help??!?!

In case anyone cares... I figured out how to do this. I went through iTunes and made a list of everything that was missing. I used Time Machine and went back to a time before I copied my iTunes library to my external and copied each album or song back into the new directory. It's taken me about 3 hours to do it, but (knock on wood), it seems to have worked.

Missing Filters in PS CS6

I've noticed that the Filters menu lacks many of the bundled CS5 filters e.g. the Filters | Artistic menu. By adding the CS5 Plugins directory as an Addition plugins folder in Preferences, they return, though some plugin is causing a VC++ Runtime error, but loading proceeds and the CS5 filters are present.
Is this by design? Are the remaining filters being delivered in an update, or have they been dropped?

Uncheck the additional plugins folder as that will certainly cause problems.
Go to Edit>preferences>Plug-Ins and check Show all Filter gallery groups and names.

Multiple file copies just randomly miss a few of the files

This is something that has happened to me on all networks I've used. My home network (gigabit LAN or 802.11n), work network, and any client network I've ever been on while supporting.
I can select say 10 files on my MBP in finder. And either copy/paste or just drag to copy onto an SMB share (windows 2003 at home for my windows home server, also 2008 and 2008 R2 servers at work and clients). And the file copy goes fine. I see the progress window, it goes and I see the files populating the network share as it progresses. It runs the normal amount of time I'd expect for the speed of the network, and when it's done I get my sound. Then anywhere from three to nine of the files just disappear off the network share as the copy finishes. So it takes the time to copy them but does not complete.
And it's not an every time thing. And it ONLY happens with multiple files, i NEVER have a problem doing files singularly. The same files that fail in a batch go fine when I copy them one by one in the same session after it failed doing them all at once.
No errors on the windows side of things in the logs, disks are fine. Never happens with my MBP when I do it from windows either via VMware or booting directly into boot camp.
No errors on the mac side, for all intents and purposes it completed successfully. Yet almost every time I do group copies, only a couple actually are on that network share when all is said and done.
No AV or firewall on the server at the moment so it happens whether I have them enabled or uninstalled. No AV on the MBP.
And no disconnects, etc. I'm watching things in an RDP session while the copy is happening and I never lose the network, it never drops. Downloads that I sometimes have going on are working just fine, everything is just perfect in every respect as far as networking goes, except for those copying of multiple files.
Saw someone else had disabled write caching on the windows machine to overcome an actual error they had, and i had tried that in this instance long ago to no avail.
This has happened since I first bought the laptop in July of '09 and it was running leopard, and has continued through every single version update since. Wired or wireless...

hey JDThree, i'm having the SAME EXACT PROBLEM!!! i've tried restarting both my server and my MBP, and it does the job a bit, but it's so random. even doing a single file copy doesn't seem to work. i tried copying over one file, then when it finished and was on the server, i copied the next file, and it removed the first file. so strange. anybody have any ideas?

I am using Windows 8 and can not find render or lighting effects in the filters. any ideas?

You can't find them because those effects only exist in Photoshop.

Missing Filters in Flash CS4

When selecting a movieclip or text box, the "Graphic Effects: Filters" dropdown is NOT available in the "Properties" window. It's not grayed out.... it's not there. I'm open to suggestions, comments, ideas, or sympathetic notes.

open the properties panel so it's showing in your app.
add a movieclip to your stage.
click on an empty part of the stage and then click the movieclip.
now, scroll to the bottom of the properties panel. what's the last section you see at the bottom?

Serious problems with the canceling for my plan, it´s just frustrating =(

In the Cancel Plan confirmation pop-up, for me and probably others, it dosen´t appears the option of "cancel plan" in the bottom, so that´s either a dum issue from the system or Adobe just dosen´t wants us to cancel our plan. PLEASE IF ANYONE COULD JUST TELL ME WHY ITS THIS HAPPENING!? ill be thankful c:
