I sat down hard today...and thought about purchasing a Desire Z. I currently own a Nokia N86 which I love to bits. A year and a bit it's been with me. Sadly it was designated as EOL. And my dad isn't gonna give up his N97 or N900 (what a powerhouse!).
I want to stick with Nokia for pretty much ever. I don't have a problem with the actual phones. It's just the software, or rather little things that keep bugging me that could be fixed. So here's a long list of them...kind of like an open letter to Nokia:
OVI Store
Search function that handles ‘fuzzy’ searches
Symbian/Java categories for power users
A rehash of what is new
Speed issues
Better handling of application updates (centralized, instead of splintered a la the 6600 days)

I just wanted to say that I have been one of the recent persons scammed. I received an sms from +353872205907.
"NOKIA Celebrates 40yrs! Your Mobile phone number has wonX British Pounds in the NOKIA AWARD. To redeem your award send (Code Number inserted to Email: [email protected]"
I did and then got a fraudulant email asking me to fill in a form with my bank details.
Questions to Nokia: Is it true that this is a scam and Nokia has not run such a program?
Can you bring legal action against owners of this sms and email account???

Not showing up on iPod.
I drag/ copy and paste or load my artwork to songs and albums on itunes and it works.
I plug iPod in and it syncs it. But when I look at iPod I only see song name/ artist/ album, no artwork.

Try these steps, and see if it affects the way the album artowrk is showing (or lack thereof) on your iPod:
1 - Connect your iPod to your computer.
2 - In iTunes, click on your iPod in the Source List.
3 - Under the "Music" tab, you will see an option called "Display album artwork on iPod".
If this is already selected, try deselecting this option, click the Apply button to save your settings, and eject/disconnect your iPod.
Then, reconnect your iPod to your computer, re-select this option, and disconnect it from your computer.
If this setting was not selected when you checked on it right now, then simply check-mark this option, and click on the “Apply” button to save your changes.
Then, disconnect your iPod from your computer, and see if the album artwork is working now.
If that doesn't work, then have you first tried resetting your iPod? To reset an iPod:
First, toggle your iPod's "Hold" switch back and forth a couple of times. (Make sure to leave it on the white side of the switch).
Then, press and hold the Menu and Select (center) buttons together for 5-10 seconds.
If a few attempts at resetting don't help with your issue, then I would now suggest that you try restoring your iPod to factory settings in iTunes.

Sorry if this has been posted before but...

..are all the video editing effects such as lighting, fog, faster/slower/reverse, etc available in iMovie '08? I use these effects heavily in movies I make, and it would be a huge turnoff for me if they're not included. I'll probably end up just getting Final Cut Express if they're not

.....so that novice movie makers can quickly create short movies with a background sound track and post it to YouTube or iWeb without spending lots of time to make a creative longer movie.

Time machine full (yes, I know its been posted before but I have no answer)

I have a macbook with 80GBhd, my time machine drive is a USB 80GB drive. I have 15GB free on my local machine and TM has 6.67.
So its telling me that it needs 10.4GB to complete its backup.... and is no longer backing my drive up. I want to say "Hey, Time Machine, go ahead and delete some of my older backups, its cool, I get it."
But that just isn't an option. What am I supposed to do? Go out and get a NAS device? Maybe a couple of TB would be enough to satisfy time machine?

It's 'Donationware' - and worth a donation, it transparently uses Terminal/UNIX commands to do its stuff, has lots of lovely simple options- including the optional creation of a well-compressed but OS bog-standard SPARSEIMAGE disk image file of your Volume, supports the iPod:iTunes synchronization, will do fast block-level disk-to-disk clones etc. etc. and has UNIX-stndard syncing built in .. thru RSYNC...
The amazing thing about the SPARSEIMAGE format (well, amazing until you understand the 'why') is that it can very easily turn 120 gig into 90 : and the bulk of the reason turns out to be one of the 'usuals': allocation blocks.. as you no doubt know, the Mac - like all computers allocates space for file in minimum units: Blocks.. - a bit like writing a book but having to write it 10 pages at a time and having to actually use the ten pages... so, if the block size if 4 K (usually is on a Mac), eenif you only WRITE 500 bytes, the file will be allocated about 4k.. wasting 3.5KB (get info on a small file to see this: it'll say something like 4KB on Disk (512 bytes)).
On most systems but particularly with the Mac OS, you can have a LOT of small files (most of them are hidden from view inside other things - like, say applications which are really a special kind of directory or folder(show contents & browse about).. also prefs /plist files, small READMEs...) On a reasonable size disk it's not all that unusual to have 4 or 500,000 files. In 'Native format, 100 of those 500Byte files will take up 400KB. On a sparseimage (or in a zip or similar) the same 100 files will take 1/8th the space.

When is the iTunes store getting Apple Lossless albums? I have a 30mbps fiber connection here in New York! I downloaded an album in about 30 seconds for $9.99, I want to download an album in 3 minutes but it should be lossless! I will pay the full cd price for Lossless! None of this $9.99 discount stuff!

There is one such store - Music Giants - but they're much more restrictive than any other download store. For instance, they do not allow burning tracks to an audio CD, so you can't play tracks in anything that won't play protected Windows Media format. They also don't guarantee CD quality - they list a range of from 470kbps to 1100 kbps, so the quality of any given track may or may not be CD-equivalent.

You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:

Itunes to ipod (please post before thursday 4/28/06)

I set my ipod's default computer to a different computer than what I wanted. But I thought I definitly wanted to stay on that computer so on the computer when it asked me if I wanted to set this computer as the default ipod computer i pressed dont ask me this again and answered no. Now I changed my mind. Please help meset this computer as the default.

Of course I checked firefox crashes. I searched and haven't found my problem. I used Firefox 5 when it happened, then, seeing it doesn't work no matter what I do, I upgraded to 6. The same problem. So it's not 5 or 6 related. Computer probably wrote something to hard disk when it crashed and now the file is corrupted and prevents Firefox from starting. I don't know what file (or part of the registry) is. I could erase everything, but that would mean I will lose every Firefox settings and I don't want that. Now I am using Google Chrome to write this. I miss my Firefox. :( What else can I do ?

Terminology check here. Do you really mean a "CD"? There's a difference in Cloud behavior between content from a physical CD you ripped (which only has Cloud content if you have iTunes Match) and an "album" you bought from the iTunes Store.

The above can get pretty complicated. You are probably best off by syncing both devices to a single library and/or updating the libraries on both computers to have the same content.

I can not get my imovie clips transferred to my external hard drive. I did it before but I don't remember how I did it. I tried dragging it and I tried moving it under the share tab too. Help!

I have a Mac 10.8.2 and iMovie 08. I have uploaded movie's from my video camera onto iMovie, and now I cannot move them to my external hard drive. I was able to do this before, but I don't remember how I did it. I tried to drag it and I tried moving it by using the share tab.

I cannot find this 300GB "Backup" in the Finder, only in the Storage info when I check "About This Mac".
You are probably using Time Machine to backup your MacBook Pro, right? Then the additional 300 GB could be local Time Machine snapshots. Time Machine will write the hourly backups to the free space on your hard disk, if the backup drive is temporarily not connected. You do not see these local backups in the Finder, and MacOS will delete them, when you make a regular backup to Time Machine, or when you need the space for other data.

I have restarted my computer, but the information remains the same. How do I reclaim the use of the 300GB? Why is it showing up as "Backups" when it used to indicate "Photos"? Are my photos safe on the external drive?
You have tested the library on the external drive, and so your photos are save there.
The local TimeMachine snapshot probably now contains a backup of the moved library. Try, if connecting your Time Machine drive will reduce the size of your local Time Machine snapshots.

It's not a virus. It's a JavaScript scam that only affects your web browser, and only temporarily.
Some of those scam pages can be dismissed very easily. Press command-W to close the tab or window. A huge box will pop up. Press the return key and both the box and the page will close. If that doesn't happen, continue.
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
and uncheck the box marked Enable JavaScript. Leave the preferences dialog open.
Close the malicious window or tab.
Re-enable JavaScript and close the preferences dialog.
If the Preferences menu item is grayed out, quit Safari. Force quit if necessary. Relaunch it by holding down the shift key and clicking its icon in the Dock. From the menu bar, select

Create idocs for FI documents posted before ALE setup

The users were creating FI documents normally during May 2006, but the ALE financial interface was not set up until the end of that May. We are using a FI message type which is a copy from a standard one.
Is it possible to create idocs from those FI documents posted before setting up the ALE connection so those FI documents can be sent via ALE?

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.
