It says SIM card is from a carrier that is not supported activation policy?
after reseting my phone i am very stunned because it says that The SIM card that you currently have installed in this iPhone is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server. This is not a hardware issue with the iPhone. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked by your carrier. Please contact Apple for more information.
Cant understand what to do now...
Sounds like the iPhone was hacked to be unlocked. When restoring an iPhone with iTunes that was hacked to be unlocked, the hack is removed and re-locked to the carrier the iPhone was sold as carrier locked with when new.

what can in do?Well unfortunatly that advice does not always work. I bought a unlocked iphone4 from apple several years ago and went to att on a no contract basis. Six months later the phone crashed while updating the operating system. Apple replaced the phone with a new one. All is fine till I got a iphone5 and gave te phone to my cousin. The phone is now locked to att but att says the IMEI number is not a valid ATT IMEI and therfore cant unlock it. Apple says there is nothing They can or are willing to do so now I am stuck for a 600.00 phone that can't be used.
If anyoun knows a way naround this situation mI would appreciate a heads up. -

I need help, I use my phone for everything enclusive to work. I appreciate if you can help. I'm from Brazil. My name and giullia.Did you purchase this device from Apple or an authorized reseller? It sounds as if you had a device that was jailbroken/hacked to operate on your carrier. Upon updating the iOS, it is now locked back to the original carrier the device was locked to.
Only the carrier the device is locked to can authorize an unlock. You will need to make contact with that carrier and see if they provide unlocking services, and if they do, if you qualify for an unlock. Otherwise, you are out of luck. One that carrier can take care of the unlocking. -

It looks like the iPhone is locked to a carrier that is not the one you are trying to use.
You need to determine which carrier it is locked to and then contact them to see if they are willing to authorise the unlocking of your iPhone. As ManSinha mentioned, many carriers will only authorised the unlock if requested by the customer who had the contract with them for this iPhone.
Remember that only the carrier who owns the lock on your Iphone can authorise Apple to unlock the iPhone in their servers. You need to contact the carrier or have the previous owner of the iPhone request the unlocking. -
i Traded my friend my galaxy for her iPhone and checked the compatibility for Net10 online. It said my phone would work and I even got it activated with net10 but when I put the SIM card in and reboot my phone it tells me the SIM card I have installed is from a carrier not supported by the activation policy....how is this happenning when the website told me my phone was compatible and no the phone was not jail broken
Verizon does not unlock the iPhone 4S for use on U.S. GSM carriers, only for foreign roaming.

please give me suggeston
Only the carrier to which the phone has been originally locked to can unlock the phone. If unlocking is no option for this carrier, the phone can't be unlocked.

I have similar message but for me the Verizon guys said they unlocked it and when I actually connected to iTunes using Verizon sim card and then did the restore as new iphone then everything worked well and at the end i saw the message "Congrats, your iphone is now unlocked" and then I did the set up as new iphone for my kid.
Once new apple ID was set up, then I removed the verizon SIM and then inserted prepaid t-mobile sim card and after the phone booted up then I got the same message like above...."not supported"
What do i do now? I think the phone is unlocked right?
Also do I need to insert Verizon SIM card and do restore as NEW and this time do not set up the iphone but change the SIM card and then set up or ?
I am confused and other threads were talking that if you get congrats message then u shd be good to use other SIM cards....please help!!! -

I have Problem, I can't install Xcode 6.1 on my iMac due "Xcode is running from a volume that does not support ownership. Please move Xcode to one that does."
I have two HD partition, First one I use for my Lion OS, and the second I just installed Yosemite since Xcode 6.1 need OS upper than lion.
Here's my HD Info.
Mac HD : Yosemite
Machintosh HD: Lion
I do try to uncheck and check when I install Xcode. Maybe I don't know where should I put Xcode.dmg when I want to install.
Thank you. Sorry bad english.Run Disk Utility select the volume you are installing Xcode on and look at the bottom of the screen and make sure Owners Enabled: says yes.
Also make sure there are no other versions of Xcode anywhere on your system. If there are delete them all and then do a fresh download and install of Xcode, BTW why are you nor installing from the Mac App Store, where did you get the dmg from?
post back if that does not resolve the issue.

I bought an iphone6 T-Mobile Contract free from US. Can i gift it to my parents in India.?
Will a nano-SIM card with any Indian carrier work? They will have to just toss away the T-Mobile SIM and put in nano sim for any Indian carrier, right?
Will my international warranty still be valid? In case of any repairs/services, can that be done in India? Will these services be charged while the phone is in warranty period? If the phone is purchased in the united states, warranty service will need to be provided in the united states.

The phone is locked to Softbank in Japan. Softbank does not offer unlocking at this time. The phone is going to be useless in Malaysia unless he wants to sign up for service with Softbank and pay the International roaming fees.
Tell him to give it back or try to sell it and buy an iPhone from one of the 3 carriers in Malaysia that offer service there. All iPhones sold in Malaysia are unlocked. -
if I buy a new wifi and cellular ipad with ATT can I swap the micro sim card to other overseas carriers when traveling?
Ralph
he is talking iPad
iPads are not Carrier locked and as long as you are happy with a 3G signal
you can buy a PAYG data sim in many countries
see LTE limitations here
http://www.apple.com/ipad/LTE/
Buy from Apple Store and you can guarantee no issues
