Items could not be synced

I'm using iTunes 10.5.1 for Mac OS X 10.6.x
I see an error on my iPad and iPhone 4 that says "17 items could not be synced. See iTunes for more information"
I can't see where to check which files the iPad/iPhone could not sync. In previous iTunes versions I could click a reveal triangle. And no error appears on iTunes after sync, just on the iOS devices.
An ideas on how to determine the problem files?

This problem started with the new iphone upgrade software of 5.0! I used my daughters old ipod and had no problem syncing audiobooks, so the problem lies with the new software- I have called AppleCare three times and have gone down to the Apple Store to get advice with no success.  So hopefully the software developers will see these posts and fix the problem, I would suggest to write continually to itunes support and complain, this might wake someone up. The squeaky wheel get's things done. In the meantime I have borrowed a PC computer and downloaded my audiobooks on a cheap MP3 player.

I am having problems syncing songs from cds onto my ipod from itunes.
I upload a cd onto my itunes account and it clearly works there and plays but when I plug in my ipod and click and drag the songs onto my device, itunes makes a weird noise and a message shows up on my ipod saying “Itunes sync. 56 items could not be synced. See itunes for more information” And, of course, there’s never anything on itunes to help me.
Last time I did this, three of the 25 songs from the cd I wanted synced played on my ipod, and none of the others. Sometimes, if I do this enough, over the course of a few weeks, I can get the whole CD onto my ipod.
The weirdest part is that the songs show up on my Ipod, but they are shaded over almost and cannot be played. It’s irritating.
My Ipod is 4G and is in need of the latest update, but last time I updated my Ipod, all the songs were deleted and I had to resync all of them…so you can see why I’m hesitant to do this.
My Itunes on the other hand, is all up to date.
I just want my music please!

Were they purchased with the SAME Apple ID you have registered the phone with?

  • I believe it's a bug: How do I fix the 'items could not be synced. See iTunes' issue on iPhone?

    Hello,
I've read previous discussions that are marked as fixing this issue, tried them, and they didn't work. Including deleting the cache.
Everyday I've synced my iPhone since the iOS 5 update, I've had this alert: '54 items could not be synced. See iTunes...'
When I go to iTunes, no clue, no buttons, etc..
I do know now what items those are, by sheer coincidence.
I clicked the triangle near my iPhone device in iTunes and saw 4 greyed out items under Television. They were 4 tv shows I had purchased and then deleted from my iPhone. I never synced them with my desktop. Yet the device is trying to sync something that supposedly has been deleted.
So then I clicked in Rentals, and there are 50 items greyed out. All Rentals I watched through my iPhone since I've purchased it. They get deleted after 48hrs you've started watching. Desktop is trying to sync those as well. Even though they also have been deleted from my iPhone.
So now I know what those 54 items that cannot not be synced came from, but not how to fix it.

I updated to iOS 5.0.1 days ago and didn't receive that notification until just now...
This time I synced new photos I took yesterday, and it gave me the:
"iTunes Sync: 54 items could not be synced. See iTunes for more information"
Perhaps it kicks off when new items get synced.
I've decided to rent a movie yesterday. Once it gets deleted, I'm curious to see if it jumps to 55 items.

  • Ipad mini syncing issues with itunes : (x) items could not be synced

I'm using ipad mini (non retina) 16GB with itunes 11.2.2.3. I had downloaded some games from itunes like asphalt 8, GT racing 2, infinity blade, real racing 3, dead trigger 2, and apps like garageband. When i tried to sync these games with my ipad. everything happened normally like
syncing apps to 'superhornet's ipad' (step 6 of 6)
    copying 1 of 8: asphalt 8
    and later 'finished syncing'
but after syncing is finished on itunes. A message appears on the ipad saying '14 items could not be synced. see itunes for more information'
there is no message in the itunes that would tell what issue happened here.
Due to this, the games i mentioned above does not get installed on my ipad. all i get is their greyed out icons which shows their name below them, when i touch any of those greyed icons they start showing 'installing' which never really completes.
I have also tried to install apps by ifunbox, but it showed some error when i tried to sync those games.
This issue doesn't happen with all the games. I had also downloaded games like 'the sandbox, ACR drift, shadow gun and they were installed without any issues.
I had never played any game on my ipad. so far i had only used it as an ebook reader, video player and internet browser. so i have no idea if this problem existed before.
and yes my computer is authorized, and i successfully sync all videos, music, ebooks with it.
    my PC's specs:
    AMD phenom II X4 B25
    4GB RAM DDR3 133MHz
    AMD radeon HD6770 1GB GDDR5
    Gigabyte GA78LMT-S2P
my ipad is running iOS 7.1
and itunes version is 11.2.2.3 (updated yesterday expecting it would solve the issues)
I would appreciate if anyone could help me with this

Found another thread with a few possible solutions. The one that worked for me was to delete the ipod photo cache in the "Pictures" folder. Here's the thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3390697

  • Items could not be synced. See itunes for more information.

I have several items that I would like to have on my phone but I can;t get them on there. I get a message stating they could not be synced and see itunes for more information, but there isnt any information on itunes. I have found by checking the manually manage music, sync, then uncheck and sync, some items get across but not all. Whats going on?
Also it seems impossible to manage the space on the phone. I have tried deleting stuff to make more room but still the hpone thinks there isnt rooom. Bring back walkmans and phones that work!

Photos may cause this problem. When you sync photos to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod; iTunes creates a small version of each photo and stores them in a folder called “iPod Photo Cache.” Sometimes, inconsistencies between the real photos and photos in the cache folder may result in this error. To fix this error, simply remove the iPod Photo Cache folder(s).
Don’t worry, this folder will be recreated automatically the next time you sync photos and removing this folder will not erase your original photos. Here is how you can locate the iPod Photo Cache folder so you can drag it to your Trash (on a Mac) or Recycle Bin (on a PC). Follow: Go > Home, then open the Pictures folder and find the iPhoto Library file. Control-click the iPhoto Library and choose Show Package Contents where you can locate the iPod Photo Cache folder and drag it to the Trash. Then restart iTunes to re-initiate your sync.

  • Items could not be synced. See iTunes for more info.

Sync of new iPad mini, popup on mini says 53 items could not be synced, see iTunes for more info. OK.
Where in iTunes is more info? Which 53 items? I can find no clue. Also iBooks blows up on 2 of my books that open fine on my old iPad 1, maybe they didn't sync?

I see now after the Sync, a  !triangle appears next to my mini in iTunes. Clicking on it brings up a list. Sure would be nice to be able to Save that list, since I can't fix anything while that list is showing! And once you close it, the warnings disappear along with the triangle. I ended up using Grab to save the info.
Reset Warnings also makes the triangle go away. Along with all that info.

    Hello ChasityE,
It sounds like you are trying to import photos from your iPhone 4S to your computer.  The Photos tab in iTunes is for syncing photos to your iPhone from your computer, but I found an article with the steps you can take to import the photos from your iPhone to your computer:
iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer

  • HT1386 items could not be synced.

I'm trying to sync my iphone with the lastest version of itunes but i get a message that my "items could not be synced. See itunes for more information."

In the left hand panel of iTunes, there's a section called "Devices." You will see your iPhone there. Next to the name of your iPhone, there will be a triangle. Click on that triangle, and you'll see which items couldn't be sync'd. Now, it's not going to tell you *why* they couldn't be sync'd, so try syncing again. Often the problem will resolve itself. If not, you could be dealing with a corrupted file (you will see a list of all those media files when you click the triangle). But most of the time, if you simply sync a few more times, the problem goes away and your files will sync. Who on earth knows why, they just do. Hope this helps. xoxo outlaw

I am having trouble syncing my son's Itouch.   I keep getting messages that say 23 items could not be synced, see ITunes, but I can't find any information on ITunes.

What are the items that do not sync?
If songs do the songs play in iTunes?
If app are the apps compatible with your iPod and iOS?
Do you have Restrictions set that prevent syncing them?

  • 16 items could not be synced. See Itunes for more information

I restored my iPhone 3GS from a iCloud backup.
Now when my iPhone gets restored, i'm unable to get my most recent purchared songs back on my iPhone i get the message: "16 items could not be synced. See iTunes for more information". When I look to the playlist in iTunes, the songs that couldn't be synced with my iPhone are greyed out and have the sync icon next to them (see screenshot).
Is there a solution to this problem except repurchasing those specific songs in iTunes?

Great find by the both of you but please allow me to add my twist. I receive the same error message. Yet only every other day or so & for only 1 item. But unlike how the error was discovered in this fix, I can find nothing like this in iTunes. Again, it comes & goes & I really haven't added or taken anything away other than some Outlook appt.'s Idea's??  Thanks!
