ITouch doesn't go into sleep mode

I have noticed recently that my iTouch doesn't go into sleep mode. Usually the screen will go dark after a couple of minutes if it is not being used. This isn't the case. When I plug it in to charge, it doesn't go into sleep mode either. I have tried to reset with the top and home button and that hasn't worked. Does anyone have any ideas what else I can try?

Hey SFJenn,
Make sure Auto-Lock is set in Settings> General> Auto-Lock.
If it is but you still see the issue, try resetting and/or restoring the iPhone.

    Remove "Boom" and test.
Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
I never install system modifications myself, and except as stated in this comment, I don't know how to uninstall them. You'll have to do your own research to find that information.
Here are some general guidelines to get you started. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickMyMac” (a hypothetical example.) First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickmymac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickMyMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickMyMac.” If not, open “BrickMyMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button. The uninstaller might also be accessed by clicking the Customize button, if there is one.
Back up all data before making any changes.
You will generally have to restart the computer in order to complete an uninstallation. Until you do that, there may be no effect, or unpredictable effects.
If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase and install OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" such as "AppCleaner" and the like that purport to remove software.

  • IPad doesn't go into sleep mode

I have an iPad 2 3G, and it doesn't go into sleep mode when I'm pressing Power button, also it doesn't work through the AssistiveTouch.
I would appreciate any help. Thanks from Sweden:)

    Hello Quentin,
It might be worth attempting a restart of the iPad, and then a reset, should restarting fail to resolve the issue.

  • IPad doesn't go into sleep mode when guided access is enabled

My iPad doesn't go into sleep mode when guided access is enabled despite having set "enable sleep mode" to on in the settings menu.  COnsequently, my battery life drains very quickly during the day as the screen doesn't dim or go into sleep mode at all.  Help!

Seems this feature is lost with iOS 7.0.4.  I just bought 4 iPod Touches for employee use and NEED to have sleep mode enabled for guided access to conserve battery life.
I did have 1 iPod that allowed me to enable sleep mode (and I tested that it allowed the top button to be pressed to immediately go to sleep), then after it ran the 7.0.4 upgrade it no longer allowed sleep mode when in guided access (I did not check the original version of iOS on the iPod but it was obviously older than 7.0.4).
Is there some new hidden way to turn this on or did Apple delete the option?

  • MacBook Pro doesn't go into sleep mode after connecting Thunderbolt display

    Hi,
after connecting a Thunderbolt display to the 2011 MacBook Pro 13", the system doesn't stay in sleep mode.
When pressing cmd.alt.eject it goes into sleep for 1 or 2 seconds and then goes back on.
everything works fine otherwise and the MacBook goes to sleep without problems if the Thunderbolt display is not attached.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jordi

    I found the problem.
It turns out that it has nothing to do with the Thunderbolt Display, but with Bluetooth and the Magic Trackpad.
When I installed the TD, I also added a wireless keyboard and Magic Trackpad that I had been using with another system.
If the option to allow the system to wake up by Bluetooth devices is enabled (system preferences, Bluetooth, advanced), the MacBook Pro will go to sleep and immediately wake up.
Simply disabled that option and everything works fine.
Now I need to open the lid of the MBP to wake up the system. Kind of a huge power button :-)
    Thanks for your help!

  • X200 on XP Doesn't Go Into Sleep Mode

The problem is stated above in the title, however this only happens on one condition.  It only won't go into sleep mode/standby mode if there's a USB device attached before closing the lid (eg. USB thumb drive).  I've tested and tested different scenerios but it's always leads back to the USB key being the problem.  Basically you'll close the lid and nothing happens except for the "Preparing to stand by..." screen comes up and you have to turn it off manually.
Wonder if anyone else has experienced this before?  And if there's solution please do tell.  So far the only solution I can think of is detatching all devices before closing it but that's kind of a hassel.

    I haven't.
Have you tried manually disabling the USB device from the USB device icon in the taskbar icon before going to sleep? Perhaps when starting with the USB device coupled, it will enable again.

  • Laptop doesn't go into sleep mode correctly

Hi, I have a toshiba portege R30-A. Sometimes when I go to sleep mode, the screen goes black normally, but the indicator lights stay lit and I can hear the computer still running. If I try to go back on, it won't let me and I have to hold the power button to reboot it. The first time it acted like this, the screen was black, but when I would press a key, the keyboard would light up. The second time it did this, the keyboard wouldn't light up. I thought maybe its nothing bad, i'll just leave it like that and go on later, so I did and the battery was completeley drained.

Let's keep this all in your other thread.

  • HP AIO 8610 Pro doesn't go into sleep mode anymore

I noticed yesterday that theAIO  panel stays lit now, with sleep mode activated.   When before, in sleep mode, the panel darkens.   I reset sleep mode to 10 minutes from 5 minutes only to determine if this will allow for sleep. I also restarted the AIO8610 to recycle anything that may be stopping 'sleep'. Please advise.

Hi , I see you have been troubleshooting an issue with the sleep mode not darkening the display screen on the Officejet Pro 8610, and I think I may have some information for you. Is the printer connected directly to a wall outlet or is it in a surge protector or a power bar? We want to connect it to a wall outlet just so we can eliminate the power source as the root cause. If it is currently connected to a wall outlet you may want to try a different one in another room. See this document for more information about Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector (Note: This document is not limited to Laserjet printers.) When you reset the printer did you do a full hard reset;Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the back of the printerWhile it is unplugged, you can hold down the power button on the printer for about 10-15 seconds to release any built up powerThen plug the printer back in To confirm, you are changing the sleep mode settings as per the manual instructions? To change the time to Sleep mode:1. From the printer control panel display, touch (ECO).2. Touch Sleep, and then touch the desired option. NOTE: If you change your country or region from the printer control panel, the time to sleep mode is automatically set to the default, which is 5 minutes. Maybe re-selecting your country or region will set the printer back to the defaults. To try this;Locate your Setup menu
You should see an option for Printer SetupThen touch on Country/Region, re-select your country and region Other then these steps, I would check for firmware updates that may also correct the problem you are experiencing. You can click on this link to Getting Printer Updates for HP Officejet Pro 8610 Series. A couple of other documents that have information related to sleep mode; What is Sleep Mode? The Printer Stops Responding after Entering Sleep Mode or Power Save Mode If the issue continues, please Contact HP Support for further assistance. Fill in the model number and the form to receive a case number for quicker assistance.  Please let me know if these steps resolved your issue, or if there is anything else I can do to help.  I look forward to hearing from you!  Thanks,

  • Ipad2 doesn't go into sleep mode with ios7 - why?

Since updating to ios7 - my ipad 2 does not go to sleep like it use to, hence less battery time due to the screen being on all the time when left uncovered!

Don't know if this applies to you but Another poster , Real Carbuff, figured out that after update 7.0.4 ipad doesn't shut off with the cover closed.
I tested real carbuff's analysis and he is 100 percent correct.    I updated to 7.0.4 a few days ago and the battery no longer held a charge and it was frequently hot.
I can see the light when I peer at the narrow opening with the cover closed.  I  had 20 percent battery when I closed the cover last night but in the morning it had drained to zero.  Ever since update I have had to charge it all the time-never had to do this before.
This would also explain why it got unbelievable hot when I put it in the case I had been using for 6 months with no problem.  It never shut off in the case and it cooks in there.   I was so stunned with how hot it was that I immediately made an appt to take to apple store.  Now I know what is causing the problem.
Glad I  read Real Carbuff's analysis last night as I was completely stumped.

  • Smart Cover doesn't put iPad into Sleep mode in Unlock position after iOS 8.3 update

Prior to the iOS 8.3 update, closing my Smart Cover would put my iPad into Sleep mode when in the Unlock position.  Since the update, this function no longer works in the Unlock position.  In the Lock position, I hear the click and the iPad does go into Sleep mode.  Since I am the only one using my iPad, I don't need it locked when at home.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?

    hi guys. i'm back.
i solved my problem. i refer my iphone 5 to a local distributor. a repairman checked my iphone and i described my problem. he checked my battery. it was fine! then after an hour excavation around hardware solution he told me that the charging kit crashed because of heavy mobility usage!
yes. i did not covered my phone with any cover. the cpu pressure by ios update crashed the kit! now my phone get back after the kit changed and work finally. i restored my phone to ios 8.2 now.
i'm going to buy new iphone. but i'm really confused if such this issue really happened for iphone 6 too!!!!!
    i'm totally disappointed .
