ITune launch failure

Hi, I'm new here and I'm hoping someone can help me out. I'd really appreciate it.
A few days ago I was moving my icons on my desktop and I accidently set my iTunes icon on top of my Firefox icon. A pop up came up, but I don't remember what it said (although I wish I could). Afterwards, I couldn't open iTunes. It'll appear in my taskbar for a splitsecond and then disappear. I can't even open my iTunes folder in My Music folder.
I tried following this: iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting unexpected quits, freezes, or launch failures. I created a new account and tried opening iTunes there and it worked. So I tried Remove iTunes Plug-in, Remove iTunes Preference files, and Check for content files with issues, but like I said I can't open my iTunes folder at all. When I moved my iTunes folder onto my desktop and opened iTunes, it still wouldn't open but a new iTunes folder appeared in My Music folder.
I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, but it still won't open.
I'd really appreciate some help. This is quite distressing. I really don't want to have to delete my music and import all of them again :[
  Windows XP

I went a step further than before and got itunes running again.
The Updater had also installed Quicktime.
I launched quicktime, it appeared to be configuring and then launched. Then when I run Itunes now it is working...
Hope this is your problem also.

  • ITunes launch failure when connecting the pod

I'm having issues with itunes not launching (no error msg is given) when I plug in one of our two 2g nanos. It worked at one point, but now when you plug in a nano, it pops an IE window for the ipod (set to be able to use as a drive). I have repeatedly cycled the 'launch itunes when this ipod is connected' option in itunes with no effect. I've tried looking under properties for the drive through windows, but nothing looks that looks like the solution is self evident.
    I'd appreciate some help... Thanks!

Make sure that you are the adminstrator on the computer. You also want to make sure that you have windows 2000 serivce pack (4), or Windows XP Home or Pro service pack (2). You do this by right clicking on your my computer icon and selecting properties. Once you are under properties go to the general tab. Once you have done that type in on the support page how to uninstall itunes and quicktime for windows. Once you have uninstalled the programs make sure you restart your computer. Once the computer is back on make sure that you have all of your anti virus programs, pop up blocker, and your firewall disabled. After that download itunes and make sure that you save the file. Make sure that you save the program somewhere you will remember where it is at. My documents or the desktop would be my suggestion. After you do all of that you should be good to go.

  • ITunes launching error?! xO

I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me what's going on and how I could fix this problem!!

Here is some stuff to get you started.
First be sure your system is free of viruses and spyware, if you don’t have a spyware scanner Ewido is free:
    http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
The first question is does Quicktime work? iTunes can’t work if Quicktime doesn’t.
Try opening the Quicktime player and play a track.
If Quicktime doesn't work, uninstall it.
Then download and install the stand alone Quicktime without iTunes (the second option in the link):
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
If Quicktime does work, work through this article on troubleshooting launch failures:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302856
Ask again if you are not successful

  • PowerPoint Launch Failure - Shared Library

    -------------------------
    Application launch Failure
The application "PowerPoint" could not be launched because of a shared library error: "4<Microsoft PowerPoint><OpenGLLibrary><CFMPriv_AGL>"
    - That is the message I get as soon as I double click on PowerPoint. Both Word and Excel work fine. All of the other apps I have seem to work fine. I am running 10.3.9. I have 1 Gig of RAM.
    - SteveRidesSteel has an iBook G4 that also has the same problem. He is running 10.4.7
    - Casey has the same problem.
    - Several people all over the internet have had shared library errors after installing various games.
    - There apparently is a Shared Library Error when updating to OS X 10.4.3
    - There appears to be a problem with some applications due to a upgrade for Quicktime. This message .....
'The application "(Game Name) Install" could not be launched
because of a shared library error: "BaseInstaller Carbon"'
seems to be unique to Games. This is NOT the error message I get.

    - I DON'T get a Carbon Library error message, per se.
    - If there is a problem with a damaged or corrupted file,
wouldn't upgrading to a new version (OS X 10.4, for example)?

    ------- Questions
Is there a way to watch the files (libraries) that are active and what programs are using them? Also, if I don't have any other apps running, would the OpenGLLibrary necessarily be shared by something else?

    Hi Rich,
I followed your advice. Here is what happened. The clip I've included is from the time I turned on the computer, opened Safari, connected to AOL for email, and then opened the posting from the Mac Forum. I haven't opened any pics, so not sure why I have jpeg failures. Then I opened PowerPoint.

    Hi Auderrick,
The jobs that return Launch:null run on the JDE Adapter. We have been exeperiencing this issue for some time now. We have many jobs that repeat every 10 to 30 minutes and one occurence of the job will report Launch: null. If you resubmit the job it runs fine or the next occurrence of the same job will execute without any errors. Agent, runtime users are active and valid and no changes are being made to the jobs.

  • 3G no longer shows up on desktop, spinning beach ball on iTunes launch

After playing with my new 3G all day, which included several successful syncs with iTunes, the iPhone no longer shows up on the desktop. iTunes launches automatically but just sits there with the spinning beach ball. Have to Force Quit. The iPhone also no longer displays Sync In Progress. Repaired Permissions, restarted, tried various combinations of plugging/unplugging the iPhone with no success. Any ideas?

I am having this problem too, but I just leave it plugged in and eventually it pops up. It has taken up to 3 minutes.

  • HT1222 "Data Execution Prevention" not letting ITunes launch. How do I remove DEP?

How do I get rid of Data Execution Prevention!!!??? All of a sudden this annoying little program wont allow me to open Itunes!! I tried turning it off the way they said to but it still blocks itunes. I even reinstalled Itunes No luck  I still cant use Itunes  HELP!!!

And no problem for "barging in"; your expertise in solving Windows issues is always welcome. Cheers.
    Thank you.
The situation with these changed up a bit with the introduction of the iTunes 10.5.x versions and above. (A "new problem wearing old trousers" event.) I have a note in the Full Host Bar about it, though it's speculative. Here's the content of the post there:
There's various possible causes for DEP errors when launching iTunes for Windows. But in recent times we've been able to get past a number of them by updating folk's QuickTime Player to the latest version. For example:
Re: When I tried to update to 10.6.3 it failed
The interesting thing about that is that since iTunes for Windows 10.5.x, you aren't supposed to need QuickTime for Windows componentry to be installed in order for iTunes for Windows to launch. So it's not likely that the DEP errors are being caused purely by the lack of QuickTime componentry on the PCs in question (or by the lack of new-enough versions of QuickTime componentry on the PCs in question).
One putative mechanism for what's going on.
I've noticed (in the course of other experimentation) that if the QuickTime Player is uninstalled on an XP system and iTunes for Windows (some version post 10.5.x) is launching, I can get a message saying that certain kinds of content can't be played because QuickTime isn't installed.
So there's a task performed by iTfW when launched to check on the presence of certain types of QTfW componentry. If the answer is "that componentry is not present", a routine is run that shows the dialog saying that certain content can't be played.
It's plausible that Data Execution Prevention is interpreting the routine that produces the dialog as being a malicious act on some systems, and throwing the DEP error when the routine is run.
That would explain why updating (or possibly installing) the latest version of the QuickTime Player is getting people past the DEP errors. The check for QTfW componentry is run when itunes launches, but it determines that the componentry is present. So the routine that produces the dialog isn't run, and Data Execution Prevention doesn't feel compelled to throw the DEP error.

  • ITunes launches each time I open Safari

    Hi,
Each time I launch Safari, iTunes launches. A clue: iTunes immediately goes to the store and brings up an app called SendStuffNow. This is a real pain. At one point I had downloaded the (free) app, but decided I didn't want it and deleted it. Now it won't leave me alone!

Perhaps a long shot, but you might try resetting Safari (File menu -> Reset Safari). It may be holding onto the URL to an app in the iTunes Store and thereby reopening it every time.
    Hope this helps.

  • Itunes launches by itself in OS 10.6.8. Any fixes?

itunes launches by itself in OS 10.6.8. Anyone know of any fixes?

    =iTunes automatically opens=
Right click on iTunes in Dock and see if "Open at startup is checked"
See if a device is attached and "open iTunes when iPod is connected" is selected. https://discussions.apple.com/message/16483979#16483979
Check for other iTunes preference settings that might cause this.

  • When I click to open Firefox, iTunes launches instead, and no Firefox browser window appears.

When I click to open Firefox, iTunes launches instead, and no Firefox browser window appears.

Actually... I take it back. I TRIED to update to 16.0.2, but I keep getting the error message that Firefox must be closed first. I'm using Chrome to send these messages, and have also closed iTunes, in case that was contributing to the problem. No use... I can't install the upgrade.
    HELP!

  • Mac osx 10.6.8 itunes launches automatically and will not respond to quit or force quit

mac osx 10.6.8 itunes launches automatically and will not respond to quit or force quit in the Activities Monitor.  When I quit or go into the Activities monitor and try to quit, it goes off, briefly, then immediately relaunches.  If i turn the computer off, and then on, iTunes launches automatically.  ITunes 10.4.  The only thing I remember doing different, lately, is I just updated a couple of days ago.  Has anyone else had this issue?  Thanks!

  • Application Launch Failure error when launching various apps

When trying to open several different apps, an error message "Application Launch Failure" displays. The text of the message is:
The application "Flash Professional" could not be launched because of a shared library error: "<Flash> <CarbonLib> <CFMPriv_OpenScripting> "
The application listed depends on the one I am trying to launch. For example, when I try to launch Word the message is:
The application "Word" could not be launched because of a shared library error: "<Word> <CarbonLib> <CFMPriv_OpenScripting> "
I have not made any recent changes to my system and do not know how to resolve. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

I am having the same issue with my Mac Power PC G4. "The application Excel could not be launched because of a shared library error: 2<application><CarbonLib><CFMPriv_LaunchServices>"
I was reading your advice above. I don't have Leopard yet, so I was hoping there was a way to fix this problem with out moving to Leopard.
Also one more thing. This problem started after I did the newest Safari update. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, just thought you might need to know that.
Any help you could give me would be great!
